While visiting the set of HBO’s Eastbound & Down this summer in Puerto Rico, I learned from co-directors Jody Hill and David Gordon Green that two of the series’ most diehard fans just happened to be icons of hard rock. Hill was thrilled to find out recently that Jack White can’t wait for the second season. And the other? Green let out a chuckle of disbelief. “Yeah, Marilyn Manson, he’s fucking obsessed with the show. He goes so far as to dress up like Kenny.” I found it impossible to conjure a visual of Manson, dark prince of androgyny, fashioned like Eastbound’s Kenny Powers, the overweight enfant terrible of major league baseball and Southern hostility that’s made Danny McBride a comedy icon. I requested evidence from director Adam Bhala Lough … Lough produced this exclusive photo, and offered an eye witness account. “Whenever I see Manson, he’s repeating entire chunks of dialogue and dressed like Kenny,” says Lough. “He just walks around dressed like this and fucks with people on the street. If a waiter or valet tells him, ‘Have a nice day,” he’ll respond, ‘Don’t tell me what to do.’ Stuff like that. He’s even dressed like this when I’m at his house watching Béatrice Dalle films and Hoarders.” I ask Lough what Green thinks of the method role-playing … “I think David’s actually frightened for Danny. Because Manson wants to kidnap Danny on some King of Comedy shit. Danny should be scared.”
LOL! See, even famous rockers can be psycho fans of other celebs … obsession is not relegated to tween Twihards. It’s no surprise that Marilyn Manson likes to play dress-up, after all, he’s made an entire career out of doing just that … it’s just funny to see him play dress-up in reverse. James Franco‘s new film Howl is about to hit theaters and to promote the film’s release he is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of The Advocate magazine. Despite what people think from the stoner and gay roles that Franco is fond of playing, he wants readers of The Advocate to know that he is neither a stoner nor is he gay. Here is our first look at James‘s new coverphoto for The Advocate and an excerpt from his coverstory interview:
As James Franco prepares for the release of what was arguably his most challenging role, iconic gay poet Allen Ginsberg, he sat with The Advocate's Benoit Denizet-Lewis to discuss inspiration, playing gay, and how he came to tackle the role of Ginsberg in the upcoming biopic Howl. Despite having conquered numerous gay roles, the heterosexual and wildly handsome Franco feels comfortable with his own sexuality. When Denizet-Lewis asks Franco if he would admit it if he were gay, Franco replies, "Sure, I'd tell you if I was. I guess the reason I wouldn't is because I'd be worried that it would hurt my career. I suppose that's the reason one wouldn't do that, right? But no, that wouldn't be something that would deter me. I'm going to do projects that I want to do. Everyone thinks I'm a stoner, and some people think I'm gay because I've played these gay roles. That's what people think, but it's not true. I don't smoke pot. I'm not gay. But on another level, there's something in me that is able to play roles like that in a way that's convincing." Why, then, does Franco continue to portray gay? He finds these roles, still notably absent from the big screen, both more interesting and more challenging. "In this history of cinema, there are so many heterosexual love stories," Franco notes. "It's so hammered, so done. It's just not that interesting to me. It's more interesting to me to play roles and relationships that haven't been portrayed as often." That said, nothing and no one would stop him from taking on the role of Ginsberg. "You want to know what my agents did try to talk me out of?" Franco recalls. "General Hospital. They didn't think me acting in a soap opera was the greatest idea. But they know that I've always wanted to do a movie about the Beats, so no one tried to stop me from playing Allen Ginsberg."
You know, I can respect a man that is so at ease with playing gay roles because the question of “are you really gay” is bound to come up on almost a daily basis for the length of his career. It’s clear that James is happy to take on roles that he finds challenging, whether the roles are gay or not is irrelevant … what is relevant is the care that Franco takes to make the roles believable. James Franco has impressed me on more than one occasion (specifically in his Milk performance) so it does not surprise me in the least to hear him express his attitude in regards to the types of roles he takes on. But nothing can compare to the couple’s new advert for upcoming fragrance Intimately Beckham Yours, a his-and-hers duo ‘designed to capture the essence of David and Victoria Beckham's passion and the power of their relationship.’ In a toe-curling display, Victoria is seen joining David in a lift before the pair apparently enjoy some alone time together before their lift ride comes to an end. Footballer David is then seen looking shocked and wiping red lipstick off his mouth as Victoria stares coyly into the camera while wearing a revealing black jacket. Viewers are shown shots of the pair kissing and grabbing each other in the lift, with both David and Victoria shedding their clothes as the advert progresses. While Victoria appears to be naked in one shot that’s shown just above her shoulders, at the end of the advert David is missing his bowtie, and his ruffled hair suggests exactly what he has been up to in the lift. Intimately Beckham Yours is the fifth fragrance duo release by the couple, following the success of previous scents including their signature fragrance and Intimately Night For Her and For Him. But the new fragrance combines a variety of new scents for the pair. The men’s scent is ‘an elegant and sexy Oriental Citrus Aromatic’ which includes hints of frozen lemon, sage, lavender and blood mandarin, while the women’s fragrance is a ‘radiant, warm and captivating’ scent with essences of fressia, orange blossom, sandalwood and frangipani.

In Touch Weekly magazine is reporting in this week’s new issue that Lindsay Lohan is telling friends that she is ready to be a mother. Now, before you choke to death on all that laughing you’re prolly doing right now, let’s just entertain the notion that this report might be true (in some strange parallel universe) and just read on for the entertainment value, shall we?
Despite her recent legal issues — and recent reports that while driving she allegedly clipped a stroller with a toddler in it — Lindsay Lohan wants to be a mom! The star has confided to a pal that she's determined to stay sober and thinks the best way for her to achieve that goal is to get pregnant. According to the pal, Lindsay, 24, hates being alone and thinks a baby would make the perfect companion. She's seen what motherhood has done for former party girl Nicole Richie and thinks it can do the same for her. "She needs to be around someone nearly 24 hours a day," the pal says. "She thinks having a baby could straighten out her life."
While it’s true that Lindsay has — for the most part — been behaving herself ever since she was released from jail/rehab, I think it’s a bit INSANE to even entertain for a second the idea of Lindsay Lohan becoming a mother. After all, let’s not forget the way she was raised by her own mother Dina Lohan:

Last night David and I met up with our friends Emma and Josh for an impromptu dinner at Greenblatt’s Deli in West Hollywood, CA to celebrate the Jewish New Year:
We supped on delish matzo ball soup and brisket and had a fun time just hanging out. Both David and Josh are Jewish but neither of them thought it was worth celebrating the New Year last night … it was up to Emma to bring us all together and I’m so glad that she did. Last night was really fun.
This afternoon, David and I fly off to Las Vegas, NV to meet up with his entire family so that we can celebrate his dad’s birthday in Sin City. We have big plans to see a couple of amazing Cirque du Soleil shows and just enjoy the city. While I’m not too eager to get on a plane again so soon, I am very excited that we will be spending some time with David’s family. Wee.

Earlier today we got to see a few photos of Gisele Bündchen and her baby boy Benjamin Rein strollin’ around NYC yesterday but right now we learn some serious news about hubby/daddy Tom Brady. Brady was involved in a car accident when his car reportedly struck another vehicle that made an improper red light turn. Fortunately, Tom was uninjured in the crash … but the driver of the other vehicle had to be extracted from their van by emergency crews. Here are a couple photos of Tom at the scene of the accident earlier today:
New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was involved in a two-vehicle accident Thursday morning near his home in Boston, Massachusetts, but is now “fine,” according to a source familiar with the incident. Brady was not injured and was already at football practice after the wreck, the source said. The driver of the other vehicle was hospitalized, but the condition of that person was not immediately clear, the source said. Law enforcement sources told the Boston Globe that Brady was driving a sedan and was treated at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle, a passenger van, was transported to a local hospital, the Globe reported. The accident occurred about 6:34 a.m., according to Boston Fire Department spokesman Steve MacDonald.
There has been chatter that Tom was injured in the crash and some are suggesting that he may be dealing with whiplash but, on the contrary, sources claim that he was completely uninjured in the accident and went straight to football practice as soon as he was released from the accident scene. Whether or not they are downplaying Tom‘s alleged injuries (that is, if he was injured at all), I am very happy to know that Tom was able to walk away from this accident. Accidents like these can be much worse so it’s very fortuitous that Tom is “fine”. Let’s send our best wishes to Tom and his family as well as the occupant of the other vehicle … and YOU take care out on the road, ya hear?
As a comic book star of the Forties of, Captain America was as patriotic emblem for his country, often depicted fighting the Nazi powers of World War II. But it seems the Captain America in the forthcoming movie based on the iconic cartoon character is going to be bringing his powers to Britain as well. Today motorbike scenes for Captain America: The First Avenger were being shot in the London countryside. American actor Chris Evans, who also starred in the Fantastic Four comic book films, is playing the title role in the film. And today his stunt double was snapped in a leafy London location, dressed in full regalia, riding a US Army Indian motorcycle. True to the original character, the costume comprised the colours of the American flag, complete with a huge star on the chest, helmet and cape. There was also a magnificent Forties-style car on set, which was seen being driven through a woodland location, as well as some more futuristic looking motorcycles. The film started shooting in June, when Tommy Lee Jones was confirmed as playing US Army Colonel Chester Phillips. Dominic Cooper will also play a role as the younger version of Howard Stark, the character which John Slattery portrayed in Iron Man 2. One of the first filming locations earlier in the summer was near the University of Manchester in the Northern Quarter, centred around Dale Street, chosen after a search for a location best fitting 1940′s Lower East Side Manhattan, New York. More filming is scheduled there for later this month. But in the meantime production will continue in London, with a number of key landmarks expected to be taken in during filming. The movie, directed by Joe Johnston and scheduled for release in July next year, will also star Lord of the Rings actor Hugo Weaving as Johann Schmidt / Red Skull, Captain America’s nemesis and head of the Nazis’ terrorist activities … Scenes will also be shot in Liverpool in the autumn at locations including the city’s Albert Dock. It is being filmed with 2-D cameras, but will be converted into a 3D movie during post production. Johnston did a one-day test shoot with a 3-D rig as opposed to shooting in 2-D and converting but called it ‘a nightmare’ due to bulky gear and restricted filmmaking options. He said he’s a firm believer in the conversion approach if done right, telling the Los Angeles Times recently: ‘It’s a new challenge and it’s exciting.’
Ugh … now I’m worried, y’all. Up until now, all of the stuff we’ve seen from the film — including the promo images of the Captain America costume — has impressed me … these new photos to not. The costume seems very ill-fitting and bulky … not at all sleek and form-fitting like most superhero costumes. Perhaps this costume is meant to look more “real” or perhaps this stuntman version of the costume is a bit looser fitting than the one that Chris Evans will wear but … I’m not liking what I’m seeing here. Not only does the costume kinda bug me but so does the helmet … I’m really not loving it. I will say that this costume in real life does resemble very closely the concept art we saw back in June … it just needs to be more fitted, I think. While I’m not crazy about these pics, I’ll just assume that the costume will be better fit when Chris Evans is wearing it. A silly costume will doom the film, methinks. I’ll reserve judgment for now but, yeah, these photos do give me pause and concern. What do y’all think?
Back in April we learned that Lourdes Maria Ciccone, the eldest child of Madonna, was reportedly admitted into the LaGuardia Arts Academy (better known to everyone outside of NYC as the Fame school) despite the fact that she did NOT audition for enrollment to the school like every other student is required to do. Now, whether or not she auditioned or not is irrelevant because yesterday was Lola‘s first day of school at LaGuardia Arts Academy … and here are the first photos from Lola‘s first day of school:
My guess is that Lola was not required to audition for enrollment A.) because she is Madonna‘s daughter and B.) because she had a hand in the creation, promotion and launch of the Material Girl fashion lineavailable now at Macy’s department stores across the country. Both of these qualifications would make a young girl like Lourdes Maria a desirable candidate for any school she wishes to attend. I must say, tho, that if Lola is serious about a career in showbiz then she is off to the right start by attending classes at LaGuardia Arts. This might be the real first step towards Lola‘s future world domination. Time will tell but, yeah, she is off and running.
Aniston’s last few films may not have exactly set the box office on fire, but she’ll always have a place on the small screen with her old Friend Courteney Cox. The Marley and Me star will make a cameo appearance in Cox’s show, Cougar Town, on September 22 and new pictures of the episode have been just released. Aniston will play Jules’ (Courteney Cox) therapist in the season two premiere episode. Jules finds she has an instant connection with Glenn but then discovers that her treatment methods are less than conventional. ‘Kind of a get-too-involved-in-her-life-type of therapist,’ executive producer Bill Lawrence told Entertainment Weekly magazine. Last year, another of Cox’s Friends co-stars, Lisa Kudrow, made an appearance as a therapist who ended up dating Jules’ ex-husband.
Yay!! I am so excited that Jennifer will be appearing on the season 2 premiere of Cougar Town because it is bound to generate a lot of interest in the show. As I’ve said many times, Cougar Town was my fave new comedy from last season and I am very much looking forward to the coming season. While it may feel a bit like a ratings ploy by having Jennifer Aniston appear on the show, the fact that she and Courteney Cox-Arquette are such good friends in real life far outweighs the gimmickiness of the guest appearance. Fellow Friends alum Lisa Kudrow was a great addition to the cast last season, I know Jennifer will be as well this season. She is the envy of new mums everywhere. Because just nine-months after giving birth, supermodel Gisele Bundchen looks to be in the best shape of her life. The 30-year old mum was spotted meeting friends for lunch at Balthazar restaurant in the SoHo district of Manhattan New York today, and she had brought nine-month old Benjamin Rein Brady along for the ride. Dressed casually in cut-off denim shorts and a sheer gray shirt with gladiator sandals and a pair of aviator sunglasses, the model looked relaxed and happy and she pushed the stroller along the busy pavement. Gisele and her American Football star husband, Tom Brady, split their time between New York and Los Angeles depending on where Tom’s team, the New England Patriots, are playing and where Gisele is working. Last night the Brazilian born model was walking the catwalk at Fashion’s Night Out at Lincoln Center Plaza in New York. The event saw the world’s biggest names in fashion, 150 models, including Naomi Campbell, Gisele and Adriana Lima strutted their stuff with tickets costing from $10 to $10,000. It is used to showcase the major trends for Fall/Winter 2010/2011 whilst raising money for charity.
I so love this … casual mommy by day, stylish supermodel by night. And can we talk about how big Benjamin has grown already? Clearly, the little guy is going to take after his father in terms of stature … but I wouldn’t be surprised if the blessed child takes after his mother in terms of style. Ugh, this little kid is blessed with the most amazing genes already … I cannot wait to see how his charmed life will turn out.

I gotta say … while I love the track, I’m totally not feeling the artwork for the single. I think it’s supposed to be a sexy yet vulnerable photo but it just looks awkward, IMHO. The red of the dress too closely matches Rihanna‘s new red hair’do … and they don’t really go well together. I don’t like it. BUT, it looks like this is the tone of the promo images that will be released in support of Rihanna‘s new album. Clearly Rihanna is very proud of her new neck tattoo, the one that sparked a bit of discussion over its grammar. But at least we have an entire new album of Rihanna music to look forward to … even if the promo photos leave much to be desired, I am very much looking forward to hearing new tracks from Rihanna.
