Avril Lavigne Does Italian ‘Vanity Fair’ Magazine

Posted: 11 Feb 2011 06:04 PM PST

Avril Lavigne plays dress-up in the new issue of Italian Vanity Fair magazine. For some reason, Avril was selected to be featured in the magazine so she thought it would be fun to put on her mother’s clothes, wear a poodle-inspired wig and pose for some photos.

LOL! I’m sorry … I simply can never take this girl serious … at all. These photos are pretty bad. I can’t even. LOL!!!

Are John Mellencamp & Meg Ryan Engaged?

Posted: 11 Feb 2011 04:29 PM PST

Well, well now … what have we here? After only about 3 months of dating, it would appear that John Mellencamp and his ladylove Meg Ryan may have gotten themselves engaged to be married. Altho neither one of them have confirmed or even commented on this latest rumor, the fact that Meg was showing off a pretty blingy ring in Toronto, CA this week (where Mellencamp was performing in concert) has got tongues wagging that the couple may be ready to say their I Dos.

They’ve barely been dating three months. But last night Meg Ryan was spotted with a ring on her wedding finger as she joined boyfriend John Mellencamp at his gig in Toronto, Canada. The 49-year-old actress was spotted heading into the rock singer’s AirStream trailer after arriving at Massey Hall where he performed. The Sleepless in Seattle star was rugged-up in a three-quarter-length black coat and knee high boots. But it was the band on her wedding finger which was the most intriguing part of her ensemble. After the gig the pair were driven off together in a 4×4, with John stopping to sign autographs for fans. John and Meg have been quietly dating now for several weeks. It comes after the Hurts So Good announced his split from wife of 20-years Elaine around New Year. They filed for divorce in last month.

HMMMM … could these two really be taking their relationship to the next level so quickly? John is barely split from his wife … but this ring … HMMMM. We already know that actor Kelsey Grammer is ready to leave one marriage for another in record time, perhaps John is ready to follow his lead. What do y’all think … will we be hearing wedding bells for John and Meg soon?

Britney Spears Picks Up Jayden James From Karate Practice

Posted: 11 Feb 2011 03:10 PM PST

Britney Spears, who has been in high pop star mode for the past few weeks, took some time this week to just be a mommy to her youngest son Jayden James. Our dear Britney took some time away from the recording studio to pick up JJ from karate practice and she looked as happy as can be.

As thrilled as I am that Brit Brit will be hittin’ us with a new album very soon, there is no question that she is happiest when she is in mommy mode. She looks happy, y’all … it’s a beautiful sight :D

Charlie Sheen SHOWS Why One Should ‘Stay Off The Crack’

Posted: 11 Feb 2011 01:57 PM PST

Earlier today we saw video of Charlie Sheen giving advice to the UCLA baseball team this week advising them to “stay off the crack”. Right now we get to see photos of exactly why Sheen‘s advice should be heeded. At this week’s hangout session with the boys from UCLA, Charlie showed off a gross mouth full of gold teeth that he’s had put in to replace the teeth he presumably lost from all of his drug use. Yikes.

Charlie Sheen has given some sound advice to players of the UCLA baseball team: ‘Stay off the crack’. The actor spent some time with the Los Angeles college team yesterday and told them to keep away from drugs – advice he is trying to heed himself. The star who is currently in at-home rehab said: ‘Drink chocolate milk. Enjoy your moment. That’s all I’ve got’. The actor was actually carrying a bottle of chocolate milk during his visit. The team’s legendary coach John Savage has been friends with the Two and a Half Men star for many years and has devised a workout plan to help keep the troubled actor in shape and in good health. But the star’s ravaged teeth, reportedly from years of drug usage, were clearly on display. The 45-year-old actor has several gold teeth where his own teeth had fallen out. He usually wears caps in public and while filming to disguise the damage.

UGH … if ever there was a way to get young people to stay off drugs, it would be by showing them Charlie Sheen‘s example. One look at the ravage that drug use has reportedly done to his mouth and that’s all it should take. As you recall, we previously saw photos of Sheen showing off his replacement teeth … which he seems awfully proud of these days. Folks, in all seriousness … stay off the crack … or lose your teeth.

What It Feels Like For A Girl

Posted: 11 Feb 2011 12:45 PM PST

Our plans to attend the Usher event last night fell thru at the last minute because of the intensity of the people clamoring to get inside and our unwillingness to fight our way in so … David and I instead decided to enjoy a nice, quiet dinner together at our new fave Thai restaurant Night + Market. But earlier in the evening, I was able to watch episode 3 of the new 5th season of the UK version of Skins. Again, I was reminded how much I love the series based on last night’s excellent episode revolving around the Mini McGuiness character.

Last night’s ep of Skins focused on perceived mean girl Mini and showed us what makes her tick and why she does the things that she does. In the world of Skins, nothing is as simple as what you see on the surface. In last night’s ep, we learned why Mini is so mean to her friends … and why she acts a certain way in public. Mini‘s story isn’t very different from many “mean girl” scenarios. Bullies tend to have their own issues deep down and that is why they act out against others. While we are not necessarily meant to excuse horrible behavior, getting some insight into a character like Mini‘s persona deffo goes a long way in explaining the horrible behavior. All of the Skins characters are flawed … with arguably “real life” issues (which are magnified to heighten the drama for TV). I really enjoyed the Mini episode … particularly because I have hated her from the start and I knew that her shitty behavior would be explained at some point. Great ep … great series.

Tonight, I will be meeting up with Adriana at the Largo Theater to see Martha Wainwright in concert …

… she will be performing the music of Edith Piaf live! I am so excited!! I hope you have a great Friday … and great Valentine’s Day Weekend :D

Watch: Rihanna Releases A Commercial For Her ‘Reb’l Fleur’ Fragrance

Posted: 11 Feb 2011 11:17 AM PST

In December we learned that Rihanna was releasing her very own fragrance called Rebl’ Fleur and last month we got our first look at the first batch of promo photos for the perfume. Today we get to check out the just released first video commercial for Reb’l Fleur … a commercial that plays all the way thru and then all the way back in reverse.

Yeah, I think this is supposed to be art … or something. There is no dialog in the clip … just pretty instrumental music and some text about being bad. Check out the video commercial in full below:

Meh … as far as perfume commercials go, it’s not bad. While I wouldn’t put this commercial for Reb’l Fleur on par with the iconic Calvin Klein Obsession commercials of the 80s …

… they do seem to share the same love of campy drama. I’d say it’s not a bad clip. It’s over the top but not outrageous. It just may sell a few bottles of perfume. What do y’all think … do you like this? Are you impressed? Inspired to buy her perfume?

Eminem Grants An Interview To A 14-Year Old Detroit Student

Posted: 11 Feb 2011 10:54 AM PST

Eminem never tires of showing his love for Detroit, MI — the hometown that he and I both share. We saw his love for the Motor City most recently in the fantastic Chrysler Super Bowl commercial that was released last Sunday and we see it again today in a new report about Em‘s decision to give an interview to a 14-year old Detroit area student named Annie Reed. Annie wanted to do a feature article on Eminem for her school newspaper The Cavalier Corner, she reached out to his people … and he said yes.

Eminem has granted interviews to publications ranging from Rolling Stone to the New York Times, but he isn’t too big for a middle school newspaper. The Detroit rapper recently hopped on the phone with East Hills Middle School eight-grader Annie Reed after the 14-year-old was given an assignment to chase an interview with the platinum-selling rapper, a request that he granted after she went through the right channels. Reed, who writes for her school paper The Cavalier Corner, originally pitched her teacher a biography on the rapper, but was instead told to track him down for an interview. “He grew up in Detroit, he’s one of the greatest rappers of all time, and I thought it’d be fun to write about him,” explained Reed, who emailed Em’s spokesman Dennis Dennehy after finding his contact information. “I just thought, ‘Wow, here’s a middle school girl from Detroit who has some guts,” said Dennehy. Eminem agreed to do the interview and Reed hopped on the phone with the ’8 Mile’ star last Thursday, asking him about how Detroit helped him hone his rapping skills, what he listened to at her age and what his favorite song was to perform live. “It was interesting to hear how he learned from his mistakes,” she said. “He told me that he dropped out of school when he was my age, and I thought about what that would be like for me if I did that right now. Then I thought, ‘I like school!” The article will be published in the Cavalier Corner, with roughly 500 copies being made available for students at East Hills before Feb. 22.

How freakin’ COOL is this? While there are many things in Eminem‘s past that I am NOT a fan of, he continues to prove to me that he is taking his recovery seriously and he is becoming a changed, mature man. I am hopeful that we will get to read the text of Annie‘s interview with Eminem because I would LOVE to read her questions for him. This one interview may set this 14-year old girl on a career path that could define her life … or, it could just be a highlight in a pretty standard middle school experience. But the fact that Em was kind enough to grant her the interview is beyond awesome. I wonder if he’d be cool with giving an interview to a certain Detroit blogger ;)

Justin Bieber Goes BALD On ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’

Posted: 11 Feb 2011 10:15 AM PST

Hide your eyes Justin Bieber fans (and fans of his luxuriously silky, shaggy hair) … the Biebs paid a visit to Jimmy Kimmel Live last night and he went BALD right on the air! Apparently, Bieber was lookin’ for a new look and Kimmel was ready to give him one. Is the world ready for a totally bald Bieber?

Justin Bieber appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Thursday, and the two united on a skit dubbed "Jimmy Cuts Justin’s Hair," in which Bieber pretended he'd had his head shaved by the late night host … “I like it,” Kimmel. “You look like a young Lex Luthor!” “I kind of like it, too,” Bieber, 16, said, adding that without his trademark bangs to fawn over, his fans can “just focus on [his] beautiful, silky smooth vocals.” “This is a great look for you,” Kimmel said. “I’m very proud of myself, I never shaved someone’s head before… you know what I am: I’m Bieber’s barber!” Asked how his young female fan base would accept the new 'do — or lack thereof — Bieber said, “The girls will be upset, but they’ll get over it,” prompting Kimmel to joke all of Bieber's young fans should shave their heads in solidarity with the Canadian crooner.

Now before you crazy kids go crazy and LOSE YOUR MINDS, I should point out that Bieber didn’t really shave his head … it was just a rubber cap … but, it’s true, the look does work for him. Sometime in the future, long after Bieber mania has died out … Justin will prolly end up looking like this … after his silky, shaggy hair falls out … so, yeah, get used to this look Bieber fans. He may not be bald for real right now … but soon. Soon.

Miley Cyrus Will Host An Upcoming Episode Of ‘Saturday Night Live’

Posted: 11 Feb 2011 09:45 AM PST

Head’s up, Miley Cyrus fans … your girl has been tapped to host the March 5 episode of Saturday Night Live! As those of you who have been watching SNL for the past few months know, they have a pretty popular skit where SNL player Vanessa Bayer portrays Miley for a fictional Miley Cyrus Show … does this mean that Miley Cyrus may actually appear in the SNL skit that so expertly mocks her?

Live from New York, it’s Miley Cyrus! Cyrus, 18, will host Saturday Night Live for the first time on March 5, PEOPLE has confirmed. The singer-actress, who recently wrapped the movie So Undercover costarring, will show off her comedic chops but not her vocal skills: A separate musical guest will join Cyrus that night. And the big question remains: Will Cyrus appear on The Miley Cyrus Show, a sketch where SNL castmate Vanessa Bayer parodies the young star? That would be, like, pretty cool!

For those of you unfamiliar with The Miley Cyrus Show skit on SNL, here is video of the most recent skit to give you an idea of what it’s like:

LMAOOO!! This is, hands down, one of my fave skits … and if Miley does NOT appear in the skit when she hosts next month, I will lose my mind. If I had my way, I’d have Miley and daddy Billy Ray Cyrus appear on the skit in some way. This better happen … or else.

Charlie Sheen Advises The UCLA Baseball Team To ‘Stay Off The Crack’

Posted: 11 Feb 2011 09:09 AM PST

Charlie Sheen, as you may know, is currently “rehabbing” at home in the wake of a new scandal that took place a couple of weeks ago in the form of a drug-fueled porno party with porn stars. Taking a break from his “rehab”, Sheen paid a visit to the UCLA baseball team here in SoCal this week to deliver an inspiring speech to the team. Sheen, if you can believe this, actually counseled the UCLA players to “stay away from the crack” … and he **almost** did so with a straight face. Check out the video below …

Charlie Sheen got a standing ovation Thursday after delivering a stirring, anti-drug speech to the UCLA baseball team — “Stay off the crack. Drink a chocolate milk.”

Ladies and gentlemen, Charlie Sheen.

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak Resigns From Office Amid Public Protests

Posted: 11 Feb 2011 08:41 AM PST

History insists that we put aside the frivolous pop culture news of the day for a moment to focus on an important moment in World History. For the better part of 2 weeks, the people of Egypt have been pressing for the resignation of President Hosni Mubarak (in office for 30 years!) and despite his obvious reluctance to leave office, Mubarak finally succumbed to the will of the people and has today formally resigned from office. Vice President Omar Suleiman released a statement to the people of Egypt (and to the world) that former president Mubarak is NO LONGER in power. The will of the Egyptian people has won out in this revolution and, for the most part, peacefully ousted their unwanted dictator.

President Hosni Mubarak of Egypt turned over all power to the military, and left the Egyptian capital for his resort home in Sharm el-Sheik, Vice President Omar Suleiman announced on state television on Friday. The announcement, delivered during evening prayers in Cairo, set off a frenzy of celebration, with protesters shouting "Egypt is free!" The Egyptian military issued a communiqué pledging to carry out a variety of constitutional reforms in a statement notable for its commanding tone. The military's statement alluded to the delegation of power to Mr. Suleiman and it suggested that the military would supervise implementation of the reforms.

Here is the full text of Vice President Suleiman‘s statement formally announcing Mubarak‘s resignation:

In the name of God the merciful, the compassionate, citizens, during these very difficult circumstances Egypt is going through, President Hosni Mubarak has decided to step down from the office of president of the republic and has charged the high council of the armed forces to administer the affairs of the country. May God help everybody.

This is History in the making … today is a day that will live forever in history books. The people of Egypt have overthrown their dictator. Yes, there has been much death in this Egyptian revolution but compared to other far more bloody revolutions (including our own American Revolution), I think it’s safe to say that the people of Egypt were able to peacefully enforce their will on their government leaders in order to be free of their dictatorship. The road ahead for Egypt will not be an easy one … surely there will be a struggle for power … but it is my hope that Egypt’s future will be a bright, Democratic one where the will of the people is paramount over everything. Let’s send our best wishes and all our love to the people of Egypt as they embark on an uncertain future … one that will hopefully turn out peaceful and FREE.

Lindsay Lohan Says That She Is Not A Thief

Posted: 11 Feb 2011 07:59 AM PST

Earlier this week, ever-in-trouble Lindsay Lohan made her way to court here in LA to plead Not Guilty to a charge of felony grand theft … but today, she wants us to know directly from her that she is INNOCENT! L. Lo posted messages on her official Twitter profile (which are no longer online) that claim innocence in the charges brought against her.

A day after pleading not guilty to stealing a necklace, Lindsay Lohan took to Twitter to declare she’s no thief. “i would never steal, in case people are wondering,” she wrote in a Facebook message pasted Thursday night on her Twitter page. “I was not raised to lie, cheat, or steal.” Lohan, 24, also took offense to the attention given to the tight white minidress she wore to Los Angeles Superior Court, where she appeared on a felony grand theft charge. “what i wear to court shouldnt be front page news. it’s just absurd,” she writes. As for her plans, the actress – free on $40,000 bail and recently out of court-ordered rehab in another case – says, “i just want to be on set again, and left alone to just work!”

LOLOLOL!! See … here’s the problem with her comment. She says “i would never steal”, meaning she didn’t steal this particular necklace … but the fact that she HAS stolen before totally negates the “i would never” part … because she has ever stolen before. She also claims that she wasn’t “raised to lie, cheat, or steal” which is a foolish thing to say. We are all well aware of how she was raised and who raised her and she ain’t gonna win NO POINTS with anyone championing the way “she was raised”. She may not have been “raised” that way but she still turned out a substance-abuse addicted criminal … so … yeah. As for the “absurdity” of what she wore to court … yes, “it’s absurd” that anyone would wear something so inappropriate to court — in a televised hearing — and assume that it won’t get attention. Without question, I am utterly and completely convinced that Lindsay wore that dress for attention … and is now trying to play coy and is pretending to be surprised that anyone even noticed. The level of entitlement exhibited by this troubled girl is sad … bordering on insulting. As much as I want to feel sorry for the tragedy that is her life, she continues to exhibit behavior that makes it really hard to even want to like her. What do y’all think … do you believe her? Do you have an sympathy left for her at all?

First Listen: Lady Gaga, ‘Born This Way’

Posted: 11 Feb 2011 07:16 AM PST

At long last … the new single and title track from Lady Gaga‘s upcoming new album Born This Way has been released for our listening pleasure (or displeasure, depending on your opinion). Previously we’ve read the lyrics to the track, then we got to see the single cover artwork … and now, we get to hear the song itself in full.

I’m very interested to hear what YOU think of the track. To me, personally, it sounds reminiscent of songs that we’ve already heard … it bears a striking melodic resemblance to Madonna‘s iconic single Express Yourself — and maybe that is intentional (if not particularly creative). While, at first listen, I don’t consider this song revolutionary nor anthem-like, I will admit it’s not a bad pop song. IMHO, Born This Way isn’t as strong as Bad Romance is but is better than songs like Paparazzi, LoveGame and Poker Face. So … what do YOU think of the track? Do you think this is the song that will change the world?

Vanessa Hudgens Does ‘Details’ Magazine

Posted: 10 Feb 2011 05:51 PM PST

Vanessa Hudgens, newly single after her recent break-up with longtime boyfriend Zac Efron, is featured in the new issue of Details magazine … and homegirl looks good, y’all. Little Vanessa looks all kinds of grown up in her new Details photospread … which features a lot of water … and not a lot of clothing.

Vanessa Hudgens appears in the March issue of Details magazine and its clear this starlet, best known for a puppy-love romance with Zac Efron, has finally shed her squeaky-clean image. Hudgens can be seen in this month's Sucker Punch, a Zack Snyder film in which she plays a gun-toting asylum inmate, but right now she can be seen as an all-grown-up sex symbol! Vanessa fidgets a lot at the beginning of the interview but says "I'm not nervous, I'm excited. I get excited. I'm, like, a very hyper energetic, crazy type of crazy. I have a lot going on. Always. I'll dance on a table sober."

On training for this month's Sucker Punch: "We trained with Navy Seals. We were machines, You could NOT fuck with us.

On working with Michael Cain for the sequel to Journey to the Center of the Earth: "He's uh-mazing. Not only is he uh-mazingly, stupidly talented, but he still kind of hits on me. All the time. If it was anybody else, I'd be like 'Who the hell do you think you are?' But because its Michael Caine, I'm like, 'Sock it to me more, baby, come on!' I.Frickin.Love.Him."

About Zac Efron, she says the following in a hurt but hopeful way: "We're still friends. Who knows what the future will bring. We're figuring this out."

On talking to Quentin Tarantino at a post-Oscar party: "….probably after a few drinks I told him 'We've gotta do soemthing together.' … "Slowly, I've gained balls. I used to be very shy. Nothing has happened with Tarantino yet, but I definitely tried to plant my seed. Hopefully he won't look back and think, 'Oh my God. That crazy bitch."

As you may recall, Vanessa took over from Britney Spears as the new spokesmodel for Candie’s but these photos are a bit racier than the ones we saw from her Candie’s campaign:

Erm, yeah … I wouldn’t be surprised at all if Zac decided to reconsider his break-up with Vanessa after seeing these photos — and video!!

Dayum. She looks good, for real. Baby V is all growed up … yeah?
