Watch: Kiefer Sutherland Talks To ‘Extra!’ About The ’24′ Movie

Posted: 14 May 2011 01:23 PM PDT

Last month we learned the fantastic news that the much-anticipated 24 movie is scheduled for a 2012 release. Today we get to see an interview with Kiefer Sutherland talking to Extra! TV about the film and what he hopes to see happen in the story. Kiefer wants his character, Jack Bauer, to take his life back … which would make, IMHO, a very interesting 24 film. Check out the video below.

“Extra’s” AJ Calloway caught up with Kiefer Sutherland in NYC, where they chatted about what should happen to Jack Bauer in the “24″ movie. Kiefer said, “I want to see Jack do a lot of things that are representative of the show. I want him to be able to take his life back, and I think that’s going to be a large aspect of the film.” As for his current gig on Broadway, starring in “That Championship Season,” Sutherland admitted he gets nervous before going on stage. “There isn’t a single night that my stomach doesn’t start to go at the half hour before the show.” The actor is also starring as a hit man in a web series called “The Confession.” Any plans for it to air on TV? Sutherland answered, “My desire right now is to keep it exactly where it is.

Squee!! Very exciting. I was happy to learn that the 24 movie got a release date for next year … but hearing Kiefer talk about the film is just too much. I need some SERIOUS Jack Bauer back in my life. I can’t wait for them to start filming this movie!

A Wonder-ful Night With Prince

Posted: 14 May 2011 12:45 PM PDT

Last night I attended my 7th show of Prince‘s 21 Night Stand concert residency here in LA (not counting the 2 intimate shows I saw at the Troubadour in West Hollywood, CA last Wednesday) and I can only tell you that the shows keep getting better and better and BETTER! One of my fave new musicians, Janelle Monáe, opened for Prince last night and as if that wasn’t enough to make the night extra special … Detroit’s own legendary Stevie Wonder came out to perform with Prince and the New Power Generation to celebrate his birthday! Last night was truly a Wonderful night ;D

Janelle Monáe opened the show and just KILLED the entire time she was on stage:

It’s extremely difficult to explain what her music is like … all I can say it that she needs to be experienced live. If we are talking about the future of music, we are talking about Janelle Monáe. After her set, it was time for Prince. To be honest, the setlist for last night’s show wasn’t all that different from previous shows I saw — which is totally fine — but I was a bit bummed that no new songs were performed. My minuscule disappointment was completely obliterated when it came time for the encores. Stevie Wonder shocked the auditorium by coming on stage to perform and then Prince busted out a few of his most beloved, most amazing ballads of all time … playing well past 1am, Prince slayed again last night:

Setlist:

D.M.S.R.
Pop Life
Musicology
Prince and the Band
Shhhh
U Will Be With Me
Glamorous Life (Sheila E. on vocals)
Take Me With U (duet with Janelle Monáe)
Raspberry Beret
Cream
Cool
Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough (Michael Jackson cover)
Let’s Work
U Got the Look
The Question Of U
The One / U Will Be With Me (Reprise)
Controversy
Play That Funky Music (Wild Cherry cover)
Which Way Is Up?
You’re The One For Me
Controversy (Reprise)

Encore 1:

Let’s Go Crazy
Delirious
1999
Little Red Corvette

 Encore 2:

Purple Rain

 Encore 3:

Superstition (Stevie Wonder on vocals, harmonica, keyboard)
You Haven’t Done Nothin’ (Stevie Wonder on keyboard)
Inglewood Swinging
Fantastic Voyage

 Encore 4 – Samples Set:

When Doves Cry
Nasty Girl (snippet)
Party All The Time (Eddie Murphy song snippet)
Sign O’ The Times
The Most Beautiful Girl In The World (snippet)
Black Sweat (snippet)
Darling Nikki (snippet)
I Would Die 4 U
If I Was Your Girlfriend

 Encore 5:

Insatiable
Scandalous
Adore

When Stevie came out, we all LOST OUR SHIT! It was just a magical concert … another magical concert. I was lucky enough to attend last night’s show with my beautiful friends Eileen and Monique and we had a BLAST:

Tonight, I’m going back again but this time with my friend Josh Rosebrook … and we’ll be meeting David Russell and his mom at the show. I am on Prince overload! Never did I ever dream that I would be able to attend so many shows by one of the preeminent musicians of our time. And the party don’t stop … I can’t wait to see what Prince has in store for us tonight.

David Beckham Trains, Plays With His Youngest Son

Posted: 14 May 2011 11:54 AM PDT

David Beckham took his sons with him to soccer training practice yesterday and managed to take a break from his session to frolic and play with his little boy. The photos from the Beckham training session are just too cute for words. Becks may be a superstar soccer player but he is first and foremost a loving father … with everything else coming second. Check out the really supercute photos below of Becks and Cruz David training/playing.

While most of his celebrity friends have flown to France to celebrate the Cannes Film Festival, David Beckham decided staying with his family was more important. And the father-of-three decided to take his youngest son Cruz out for some football practise in Los Angeles yesterday. The six-year-old tried to get the best of his father by running around and grabbing onto his leg as they fought for possession of the neon yellow ball. But Cruz couldn't outsmart David on the pitch and the 36-year-old picked up his son and tackled him on the grass during a play fight. The adorable father and son display was heart melting as they kicked the ball back and forth around the field. And David looked his usual best in rolled up grey tracksuit bottoms, a white T-shirt and a black cap. While Cruz wore his AC Milan football T-shirt, which was branded with Beckham 32 across the back. Cruz's older brothers Romeo, eight and Brooklyn, 12, didn't join the twosome for the day out and were no doubt with their pregnant mother.

I can’t even deal with how precious it is to see David Beckham lavish this much love and attention on his little boy. Cruz is growing up so fast and very soon there will be a baby girl in the family … it’s really cute to see how much Becks wants to make Cruz know that he loves him. My guess is that Becks didn’t get a lot of training done yesterday … but he did get in a lot of bonding time with his son … and there is nothing more important than that.

Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino Is Trying To Learn To Speak Italian

Posted: 14 May 2011 11:39 AM PDT

Yesterday we saw photos of the entire cast of MTV‘s Jersey Shore making their arrival in Florance, Italy where they will be filming the upcoming 4th season of their show. Today we get to see shocking new photos of castmember Mike The Situation Sorrentino doing something so unbelievably surprising that I’m not sure I can fashion the words to adequately describe the scene. The Situation has actually taken up the task of learning Italian! I’m not even sure he fully grasps the entire English language yet but … there you have it. Check out below the photos below and read some deets of the first day of JS filming in Italy.

Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino has wasted no time getting to know some essential pick-up lines for hooking up in his new temporary home town of Florence, Italy. The 29-year-old reality star was spotted skimming over a copy of a slang dictionary titled ‘Dirty Italian’ as he and the Jersey Shore gang hit the town for their first night out. The ‘Italian Stallion’ had only just landed hours earlier before whipping out the humorous digest. More enthused with the merry-go-round was fellow castmate Nicole ‘Snooki’ Polizzi, who immediately climbed on a horse and smiled as the ride span around. Clearly unaffected by jet-lag, the 23-year-old dressed with her usual outlandish demeanour, wearing an oversized black t-shirt adorned with a giant leopard print heart, a tiny black miniskirt and some knee-high fluffy boots, all topped off with a heart-shaped bow in her hair. Jennifer ‘JWoww’ Farley, 25, went more low-key for the outing in a simple black tank and denim cut-off shorts. Having a ball was 28-year-old Paul ‘Pauly D’ DelVecchio, who couldn’t wipe the smile off his face, clearly excited to be in the Italian city. But on the weary side was 24-year-old Deena Nicole Cortese, who leaned up against the ride for support. The clan was also joined by Sammi ‘Sweetheart’ Giancola, 24, who clearly looked exhausted from the long flight over, Vinny, real name Vincenzo Guadagnino, 21, and Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, 23. The cast emerged from their down-town townhouse earlier in the night and went for a evening walk for over an hour for some sight seeing. They were followed by their MTV camera crew and a huge crowd of fans, eager to get a glimpse of the gang from the popular reality TV show. The group was also accompanied by a policeman who was making sure everyone kept in check. Earlier in the day, the gang checked into their new home where they will film the fourth season of the hit show.

Who knew the guy could read, like, seriously? I have to say … the Dirty Italian book is kinda funny. Welp … away they go. The cast of Jersey Shore is already making themselves at home in Florence and have already got one day of filming under their belts. It’s unclear exactly how long the cast will film but I suspect they’ll be there for at least a month. Heaven help the people of Florence!

The ‘Dark Shadows’ Remake Gets A Release Date

Posted: 14 May 2011 11:14 AM PDT

Back in December of 2009, we learned that Johnny Depp was planning to begin filming the feature film remake (directed by Tim Burton) of the 1960′s TV series Dark Shadows sometime in the Fall of 2010. 2010 came and went and Dark Shadows did NOT go into production. BUT, I have very good news to pass along today about the film’s release … May 11, 2012 has been set as the release date for the Dark Shadows movie … oh yeah, and filming production has already gotten underway in London!

One of the biggest films of 2012 just nabbed a killer release date. ‘Dark Shadows,’ director Tim Burton’s big-screen adaptation of the ’60s vampire soap opera, will help ‘The Avengers’ kick off the summer movie season next year with a premium May 11, 2012, release. ‘Shadows,’ currently filming in England, features one of the best casts around. Johnny Depp stars as Barnabas Collins, a centuries-old vampire tormented by his past, opposite Helena Bonham Carter, Chloe Moretz, Eva Green, Michelle Pfeiffer and Jackie Earle Haley. The film also marks the first major role for newcomer Bella Heathcote, who has supporting parts in the Justin Timberlake vehicle ‘Now’ and opposite Brad Pitt in ‘Cogan’s Trade.’ Heathcote plays the key role of Victoria Winters, governess to the Collins children who observes some supernatural things going on around her at a posh New England estate.

YES YES YES! This is great news!! I am normally not this excited or hopeful about remake or reboot projects (especially of TV shows or films that I really love) but I am SO excited by the prospect of Tim Burton working his film magic on Dark Shadows (and with Johnny Depp starring!) that I can’t even contain myself. When I was very little, I used to watch reruns of the original Dark Shadows TV series (which was actually a daytime horror soap opera) with my mom. In the 90s, I fell in LOVE with the primetime TV mini-series remake. I think the time is really right for a new, big screen version of Dark Shadows … and Burton is JUST THE MAN to do Shadows justice. May 11 … seems so far away … but it’s a date that I will anxiously and (as) patiently (as possible) wait for.

Ashlee Simpson Is Planning Her Return To Music

Posted: 14 May 2011 10:29 AM PDT

Ashlee Simspon, who spent the last few years out of the musical spotlight to get married, have a baby and then become estranged from her husband Pete Wentz, appears ready to get back to work and put out a new album. Ashlee posted a new photo on her official Twitter profile showing her writing new songs for a new album that she says “doesn’t seem far away”. Check out this cute photo of Ashlee penning a new song for for a new album.

Writing sesh on the balcony. My album doesn’t seem so far away…

Look … I’m not gonna lie … I kinda like Ashlee‘s music. I am not ashamed to say that her debut album Autobiography is really good. As far as pop albums go, it was a pretty solid release and it truly defined the Summer of 2004 for me. While I have never been a Jessica Simpson fan, I was strangely taken with Ashlee‘s debut and played it non-stop all Summer long. She has had a few hits since that album came out but neither of her following two albums really grabbed me. Here’s hoping Ash will put out a fun album just like her debut … that would be really cool. Any Ashlee fans out there? Is this good news?

Sarah Michelle Gellar’s New TV Series ‘Ringer’ Gets Picked Up By The CW

Posted: 14 May 2011 10:00 AM PDT

Back in January we learned that Buffy the Vampire Slayer star Sarah Michelle Gellar was planning a return to TV this Fall in a new CBS series titled Ringer. In March, we saw photos of SMG on the set of Ringer filming the pilot episode. Late yesterday, it was reported that CBS has decided to pass the show to its sister network The CW instead. That means that SMG‘s new series will air on The CW … which originally was The WB … and that was the network that originally aired Buffy the Vampire Slayer. It looks like SMG is retuning to her TV home, y’all.

Sarah Michelle Gellar is returning to primetime as her CBS pilot Ringer is being picked up to series. But in a surprising twist, the series is going NOT to CBS but to its sibling CW. With its serialized nature and young skew, Ringer is probably better suited for the CW. It brings back Gellar to the network that replaced the WB and UPN, the two weblets that aired her breakout series Buffy the Vampire Slayer. It also gives CW a major star that has huge following in the network’s 18-34 demographic. The acquisition marks a pretty inventive first programming move by new CW president Mark Pedowitz, who was brought in to shake things up at the network. CW is now working with the producers to make the economics of the transition work. CW has explored taking over CBS projects before, including pilot Ultra and series Moonlighting though neither of those happened. Ringer, from ABC Studios and CBS TV Studios, centers on Bridget (Gellar), a troubled young woman on the run from the mob who hides out by inhabiting the life of her wealthy twin sister, Siobhan, until she learns that her twin's life has a bounty on it as well.

UPDATE: I hear ABC Studios, which co-produced the pilot for Ringer with CBS Studios, is pulling out, citing that it cannot produce a series for the economics of the CW. This is ironic, as CW’s new president Mark Pedowitz is the former head of ABC Studios. Under him, ABC Studios produced the CW series Reaper.

While I am a bit concerned about ABC pulling out of producing the series, I think the show should still make it to air this Fall. Until I hear otherwise, I will HAPPILY look forward to Ringer on The CW this Fall. I have missed having SMG on TV for a very long time … I hope not only that Ringer is a huge success for the network but that SMG really loves doing the show … because I really want to count on watching her on TV for YEARS to come :D Overall this is very good news … I love that Ringer will air on The CW (which essentially is The WB). Having SMG back on The CW just feels so right. I can’t wait for Fall!!
