Queen Madonna Goes For A Bike Ride

The ever-fitness-minded Madonna decided to go for a bike ride this weekend in London, England and opted to wear a custom-painted tracksuit for the occasion. Now, I know that Madonna is the Queen of pop music … and you likely know that she is the Queen of pop music … but there are some people out there who are not aware that Maddy is the Queen … so she decided to wear a tracksuit jacket on her bike ride to inform people that, yes, she is the Queen.


OMG … how much do I love everything about these photos. First, Maddy on a bike is just … amazing. That track jacket is just brilliant. There has been some talk that Madonna is planning her next album and as much as I love these photos, I think I’d much prefer that Madge get off the bike and into a recording studio ;)

David Beckham Shows Off His Flexibility In Washington DC

David Beckham and the LA Galaxy made their way to Washington DC this weekend to take on the DC United football club and altho the teams ended the match in a 1-1 tie, the really exciting part of the game was the pre-game show that Becks put on for the crowd. The ever-flexible Becks busted out some of his best bendy moves ahead of last night’s match … showing the world exactly one bends it like Beckham.


LOL! I know it’s silly but I can’t seem to get enough of Becks‘s ability to entertain … even when he’s not trying to. Clearly, I am not the only fan of Beckham‘s flexibility … take for example this DC United fan who even made a poster showing his love for Becks‘s bendibility:


HMMM … on second thought, maybe this DC United fan isn’t really a Beckham fan after all. Still, I am always a fan so … bend away Becks.

J’aime Amélie

So … on the real … yesterday was a pretty crappy day. It’s been a long time since a day was as crapalicious as yesterday was but, I suppose, into every life a little rain must fall. The long story short is that absolutely everything that I tried to make good about yesterday just didn’t work out so … blah. But, I did manage to eek out a bit of happiness when I stumbled upon the 2001 French film Amélie on cable. Amélie is one of my all-time fave films and it managed to put a smile on my face as it usually does so … it was pretty much the highlight of my day.


It’s really funny … as you may have noticed, I’ve been totally into photobooths in recent weeks and the central theme of Amélie revolves around photobooths in Paris, France. I remember seeing the film at the Main Art Theater in Royal Oak, MI when it first came out back in 2001 and fell immediately in love with it. Not only is the acting superb but the writing and direction are so well done. This was the film that introduced the US to actress Audrey Tautou … who I think is not appreciated nearly as much as she should be. If you’re having a particularly bad day, I suggest you watch Amélie … chances are, it’ll cheer you up … at least a little bit.

Today, I’ve decided, is going to be a much better day. The plan is to meet up with my dear friend Irene (visiting LA from NYC again), Ollie and Caleb for brunch downtown. Come on, Sunday … we can salvage this weekend, right?

Hugh Hefner Celebrates His 85th Birthday In Las Vegas

Playboy mogul Hugh Hefner celebrated his 85th birthday last night with a few of his closest Playmate friends (including fiancée Crystal Harris) and son Marston Hefner (who celebrates his 21st birthday today) at the Playboy Club atop the Palms Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV. As you can imagine, the whole affair was a raucous celebration … er, well, as raucous as an 85 year old man can handle. Check out some photos and deets below.

Hugh Hefner turned 85 on Saturday and his VERY handsome son Marston is the big 21 Sunday, so the two men high-tailed it to Vegas for a Playboy-style birthday party … Partygoers flooded into the Palms Casino Resort for the bash that began at the Playboy Club and continued into Moon nightclub. Hugh’s bride-to-be Crystal Harris was there, of course. So were another 30 past Playboy Playmates going back to Deanna Brooks, Miss May, 1998. Hugh and Crystal spent the weekend in the aptly-named Hefner Sky Villa atop the Palms Fantasy Tower. “I’m a very lucky cat and I know it,” Hugh told RadarOnline.com in an exclusive interview.

85 years old and STILL going strong. With his upcoming June wedding on the horizon, it’s prolly a good idea that Hef pace himself in the coming weeks. Still … it’s insanely impressive how active and spry the man is in his advanced age. Let’s send all of our Birthday Lurve to the Hefner men today.

‘Social Network’ Star Josh Pence Will Play Young Ra’s Al Ghul In ‘The Dark Knight Rises’

Josh Pence, who played Tyler Winklevoss in the Academy Award-winning film The Social Network, has been cast as the young Ra’s Al Ghul in the upcoming new Batman sequel film The Dark Knight Rises. Now, you may not recognize Pence from The Social Network because only his body appeared in the film. Actor Armie Hammer‘s head was superimposed on Pence‘s body for all of the Winklevoss twin scenes. In The Dark Knight Rises, I’m assuming, Josh Pence‘s own head will be used in all of his scenes.

Josh Pence, who played opposite Armie Hammer as Tyler Winklevoss in "The Social Network" (where Hammer's face was superimposed on his), has been cast as a young Ra's Al Ghul in "Dark Knight Rises," Christopher Nolan's new "Batman" movie. The movie's casting has been ultra-secret, although Christian Bale, Gary Oldman and Morgan Freeman are returning to lead a caped crusading cast, which includes Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Marion Cottilard. The story line has also been kept locked up in the Batcave but Pence's casting throws more than a few crumbs to follow. Ra's Al Ghul was played by Liam Neeson in "Batman Begins," thus paving the way for a possible return of the supposedly dead character. Also, while the studio never confirmed Cottilard's character, it has been rumored to be that of Thalia Al Ghul, the daughter of Batman's mentor-turned-enemy. Sources say Pence will appear in scenes that take place 30 years prior to the present story. Pence recently wrapped "Battleship," a big-budget action movie based on the board game, and indie political thriller "The Algerian."

You may recall that early last month we learned POSSIBLE plot details about The Dark Knight Rises that claim Talia Ah Ghul (daughter of Ra’s Al Ghul, rumored to be played by Marion Cotillard) will have a big role in the film. If true, it makes sense that Ra’s Al Ghul will feature in the film in some way. Does this mean that Liam Neeson (who played Ra’s Al Ghul in Batman Begins and is presumed dead) will return as well? At this point, anything is possible. I am intrigued by Josh Pence‘s casting, tho. I only know his modeling photos … and, of course, his body work in The Social Network. I guess we’ll have to wait and see … but it sounds like things are coming along nicely on the Batman sequel. I can’t wait to hear more.

Newlyweds Reese Witherspoon & Jim Toth Head To Belize For Their Honeymoon

Early last week we got our first look at Reese Witherspoon and new hubby Jim Toth‘s wedding photos and today we learn where the couple have sneaked off to for their honeymoon. Reese and Jim — along with Reese‘s children Ava Elizabeth and Deacon Reese — have been spotted in Belize. It sounds like this honeymoon is meant to be a family affair.

Their wedding was very much a family affair. So perhaps it makes sense that Reese Witherspoon would want her honeymoon with Jim Toth to be the same. Whatever the reason, the 35-year-old newlywed and her husband were joined by her 11-year-old daughter Ava and Deacon, seven, as they flew off for a romantic break in Belize this week. According to a blog by a flight attendant the family sat happily together, with make-up free Reese acting like any other mother as she tended to her ‘really nice and well-behaved’ children. Reese and Toth’s idyllic Californian wedding last month was also family-focused. ‘It was always Reese and Jim and Ava and Deacon,’ a guest told America’s People magazine. ‘The kids were included in everything. It was very sweet. They were super excited to be part of their mum’s day.’ The children, from Reese’s first marriage to Ryan Phillippe, 36, are said to ‘adore’ their new step-father. Following the wedding the actress didn’t stop for a honeymoon and got straight back to work promoting her upcoming drama, Water for Elephants. But it seems that the honeymoon wasn’t canceled, but simply postponed.

THIS is the blog that first reported this Reese sighting. I guess it should come as no surprise that Reese and Jim wanted to bring her children along with them. The family is very close-knit. It would’ve been very easy for Mr. and Mrs. Toth to take a traditionally children-free honeymoon together but you can tell that having the kids around genuinely gives the couple pleasure. It sounds like the newlyweds are off to a good start toward their happily ever after.

The Cast Of ‘Jersey Shore’ Will Now Make $100k An Episode

Hold on to your hats, y’all … cuz I gots some sobering news for all y’all. According to a new report from Entertainment Weekly, each of the castmembers of MTV‘s Jersey Shore has successfully negotiated a pay raise for the upcoming new season of Jersey Shore scheduled to be filmed in Italy. According to EW, each JS castmember will be paid $100,000.00 an episode for the new season. If you consider that each season of JS is usually 13 eps, that means Snooki, JWoww, Pauly D and the rest of the overly tanned cast will be paid over one million dollars for the next season of Jersey Shore. AND they get to film that season in Italy!! Sobering, right?

The good news for the Jersey Shore cast: They're getting a huge raise. The other good news: They get to spend it shooting next season in Italy. And the bad news is … actually, for the Shore cast, there is no bad news. Didn't you read the above? The cast is being paid a massive amount of money to get drunk and screw around in Italy. For the Shore stars, there is no downside. As has been reported, the eight-member cast has just finished their salary negotiations. Multiple sources close to the matter tell EW the deal has members of the "core group" now pulling down at least $100,000 per episode, especially once you factor in their bonus structure. Each season is usually 13 episodes. (MTV had no comment.) That's a quantum leap for a group that once made headlines by haggling a raise to $10k per episode for season 2. And, of course, the per-episode salary from MTV is only part of the group's income, with appearances and product endorsements tacking on additional large sums. (One tally puts The Situation's annual income at $5 million.) Regardless of what you might think of Snooki, Sitch and Co., they're not pulling a robbery — on the balance sheet, they're worth the money. Jersey Shore is like the American Idol of basic cable, delivering huge adult demo numbers that are higher than many, if not most, broadcast shows. The season in Italy, which starts shooting in May and already has the locals lining up to criticize the show, could bring the series to a whole new level.

It sounds like this deal for the “core group” will not include Dina Deena Nicole Cortese. Because she’s a newcomer, she will likely be paid much less than the rest of the cast … but will still make a considerable chunk of change. It is amazing to me that the cast of Jersey Shore gets paid SO much for acting like gross morons on TV. Think about it … a big part of last season’s “drama” revolved around the fact that the JS cast defecated so much into the toilet that it was plugged for days. Other highlights include, JWoww urinating on the floor in bars and on the street and pet dogs defecating all over the house. And let’s not forget how much screen time was devoted to the abusive relationship between Sammi and Ronnie. From the degrading verbal abuse to the actual PHYSICAL abuse, MTV happily aired it all … repeatedly. The end result? An astronomical pay raise for another season of the show where — HOPEFULLY — the cast will get up to even more outrageous behavior. Here in California, teachers are losing their jobs because the State can’t afford to pay them. I’m just really dumbfounded sometimes about the way things work in this country. I have no doubt that the upcoming new season of Jersey Shore will attract the viewing audience to justify this kind of pay raise … which is really the most sobering thing of all.

Watch: Helen Mirren Hosts ‘Saturday Night Live’

Last night Dame Helen Mirren was the guest host on Saturday Night Live and just as I expected (and hoped) she managed to turn the usually unfunny jokes conjured up by the SNL writers and turn them into gold. My fear was that the corny writing by the SNL writers would ruin the show but, amazingly, Mirren managed to make the jokes funny. To be honest, I wouldn’t say that last night’s ep was the funniest ever but Helen did make the show enjoyable and worth watching.
