13 Actresses Just As Pale As Michelle Trachtenberg Posted: 02 Dec 2011 11:14 AM PST Michelle Trachtenberg recently told US Weekly that she was considered for the role of Bella in the insanely successful Twilight franchise due to her uniquely pale complexion. “There was definitely interest here and there because there’s only so few pale girls in Hollywood,” she explained. I had no idea white people were so underrepresented in popular culture! Oh wait, they’re not. Here are 13 working Hollywood actresses just as pale as Michelle Trachtenberg. Mattel Is Auctioning Off A Nicki Minaj Barbie Doll Posted: 02 Dec 2011 11:12 AM PST Nicki Minaj, known for her outrageous and often questionable fashion choices, will now be immortalized as a Barbie doll. Mattel has commissioned a one-of-a-kind “Her Minajesty” doll that’s being auctioned off on celebrity auction site CharityBuzz from now til December 19. Doll designer Stephen Summer decided to recreate Nicki on the cover of her Pink Friday album. The doll has “hand-rooted eyelashes,” cotton-candy-pink hair, and a blingy Barbie necklace. (What, no fried chicken?) Summer paid close attention to detail, even including the tattoo on Nicki’s left arm. Then again, this may be a collectible to admire from afar. The estimated value is $15,000; the first bid minimum alone is $1,000. But what a timely charity it represents! Proceeds go to Project Angel Food, in which volunteers and staff cook and then deliver meals to men, women, and children in the Los Angeles area who have been affected by HIV/AIDS. Considering that yesterday was World AIDS Day 2011, it’s good to keep that giving spirit going throughout December. CharityBuzz confirmed that they will also be auctioning off a Katy Perry Barbie doll in the near future, but they couldn’t give us any other details. Here’s another look at the doll posing with a photo of her namesake:

Crushable Quoteable: Demi Lovato Thinks Her Wrist Scars Are Beautiful Posted: 02 Dec 2011 10:20 AM PST
After treatment, Demi came out publicly and revealed that she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. In the interview, Demi also talked about the things that helped her get better, which include support from the women and girls she met in treatment and and a ritual of prayer. She seems to be doing a lot better, so thumbs up to Demi. (via Glamour) Post from: Crushable |
The Daily WTF: Watch A Mall Santa Stunt Go Horribly Wrong Posted: 02 Dec 2011 10:02 AM PST If you’re a kid taking a trip to the mall to visit Santa Claus, you’re already impressed enough that you’re hanging out with Santa Claus. So Santas, take note: you don’t need to further awe them by descending from a balcony on a rope, because there are reindeer for that, and also because your beard might get stuck causing you to lose both that and your Santa hat, thereby ruining Christmas for everyone. This reminds me of a lovely tale from my own childhood, when my younger brother and I were taken to visit a mall Santa in upstate New York. After waiting and waiting on line, it was finally our turn to sit on the big guy’s lap. And my little bro ran right up to Saint Nick, stuck is finger in the dude’s face and yelled, “Take off that hat!” Classic, both of these. Post from: Crushable |
VH1 Announces Its Biopic Franchise Starting With A TLC Movie Posted: 02 Dec 2011 10:01 AM PST Move over, Lifetime—there’s a new biopic master in town. VH1 just announced its decision to launch a series of scripted biopics about musicians and pop stars, and the first project is a retelling of the dramatic story of ’90s R&B/hip-hop trio TLC. Not to worry, the two surviving members Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas and Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins have signed on as consultants to make sure the producers get everything right. The movie will track the group’s decade-long career, including the landmark album CrazySexyCool and their final album FanMail, not to mention the group’s sudden end after the death of third member Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes. That’s the anecdote that everyone remembers — her dying in a car crash while on a spiritual retreat in Honduras — but the VH1 press release reminds us of the other big moments in their career: Tionne’s sickle-cell disease, Lisa accidentally burning down her and her boyfriend’s house, and Lisa feeling cut out of the group during the making of FanMail. The women are excited that screenwriter Kate Lanier, responsible for the acclaimed What’s Love Got to Do With It? biopic starring Angela Bassett as Tina Turner, will be onboard. “I remember watching What's Love Got To Do With It with Lisa,” Chili said, “and I knew then whoever wrote that story had to write ours.” At a benefit concert in 2009, Chilli and Tionne announced that they were planning to record new music, but for now we’re happy to linger in the past. Those costumes! And we can’t wait to see VH1 recreate “Waterfalls,” “No Scrubs,” and “Unpretty.” [via] Related posts: Post from: Crushable |
Simon Cowell Doesn’t Even Know When He’s Rolling His Eyes At People Anymore Posted: 02 Dec 2011 09:40 AM PST You know how your mom used to tell you not to make your face into horrible expressions lest it should freeze like that? I’m pretty sure that’s what happened to Simon Cowell around his hundredth smirk. Now he’s stuck giving everyone the perpetual stink eye whether he means to or not; friends, pets, even his beloved Kelly Clarkson. It is his cross to bear. Singer Michael Bublé apparently didn’t know that when he performed on American Idol back in 2007, and thought it was personally directed at him. In a recent interview with The Radio Times, he described the effect Cowell-face had on him:
Naturally, Bublé was upset, so he did what any mature person would do: he tattled to his friend Dannii Minogue, who then confronted Cowell about it, only to find Cowell had no clue what she was talking about. And Michael Bublé learned a lesson that day:
Stars! They’re just as pissy and insecure as us. (Via The Daily Mail) Related posts: Post from: Crushable |
Gallery: Things Have Gotten Fancy On The Great Gatsby Set Posted: 02 Dec 2011 09:17 AM PST We’re back with round two of photos from the Great Gatsby set (see round one here), and Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire and Carey Mulligan are all dressed up and strutting about what I assume is Gatsby’s fancy estate. My big takeaway from this is that I’d totally kill to have Carey-as-Daisy’s wardrobe. Think that’s a possibility? (via Celebuzz) Related posts: Post from: Crushable |
Nude Photos And Jaden Smith Inspired The Top Baby Names Of 2011 Posted: 02 Dec 2011 09:08 AM PST With obsessive fandoms built around social-networking teenage superstars and smash franchises like Twilight and Harry Potter, there’s no doubt that pop culture directly influences baby names. (Especially if the parents are relatively young and are actual fans of these celebrities and movie/TV characters.) Now the fun is in guessing which people have contributed to the 100 most popular baby names of 2011. First, let’s look at the girls. I’m not even going to bother with Isabella, because that name will be popular for like the next decade. Not surprisingly, there’s a lot of cringeworthy spellings here (Makayla, anyone?); it seems as if the influences are split between characters and actual celebrities. #2 – Emma No shit, man. All the parents are naming their girls Emma hoping she’ll grow up to be like Emma Watson. (You’ve also got Emma Roberts and Emma Stone as supporting evidence.) #22 – Peyton Sounds like some parents were having early nostalgia for One Tree Hill, even though the actress who played Peyton Sawyer, Hilarie Burton, isn’t coming back for the final season in January. #38 – Aaliyah It is the tenth anniversary of her death; she died in a plane crash a little over two weeks before 9/11, actually. #61 – Scarlett Scarlett Johansson‘s nude photos scandal may have made us respect her nudity clause less, but it seems that it inspired several parents to make her their daughters’ namesake. #69 – Kennedy Maybe parents felt sorry for Russell Armstrong‘s daughter? And then the boys… Related posts: Post from: Crushable |

James Murphy (Formerly Of LCD Soundsystem) Is Going To Act In A Movie Posted: 02 Dec 2011 08:38 AM PST He might have told Stephen Colbert he was quitting music to make coffee, but James Murphy has something a bit more glamorous lined up for himself now. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you: James Murphy, actor! I guess he really can change. According to Pitchfork, Murphy has a “featured supporting role” in a film called The Comedy that will premiere at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival. Looking at the list of who’s involved, it seems like this project will please indie rock fans and fans of weirdo comedy alike. (I realize those two groups overlap.)
Will they find a way to work in a joke about the late, great LCD Soundsystem? Does the L-train shut down on the weekend? Of course they will. (Via Pitchfork) Related posts: Post from: Crushable |
