First Look: Kristen Stewart In ‘Welcome To The Rileys’

Posted: 07 Oct 2010 02:36 PM PDT

Earlier today we learned that filming on The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn will begin in a couple of weeks but lead actress Kristen Stewart has already wrapped filming production on another of her films … and Hit Fix brings us our first look at K. Stew in a very un-Bella-like role in the film Welcome to the Rileys:

As I understand it, K. Stew plays a character named Mallory who is a very troubled young stripper. Thru a serious of events, Mallory gets nurtured by co-star James Gandolfini‘s character (Doug Riley) who takes it upon himself to help turn her life around. It remains to be seen if Stewart can bring the tortured nuances of this character to life on the big screen but I guess she’s gonna give it her best shot. In case you’re still interested, you can check out the trailer for Welcome to the Rileys after the jump …

It’s an interesting story … one that might actually get me to see it in theaters. What do y’all think … does this look like a worthwhile film to you?

Britney Spears Shops, Switches & Splits

Posted: 07 Oct 2010 02:16 PM PDT

Britney Spears stepped out here in SoCal yesterday on a little shopping excursion in one outfit and then returned home in another. Apparently, our dear Britney wasn’t really feelin’ the outfit she wore on her way into the Only Hearts boutique so she decided to swap it out for an entirely different one:

She started the day covered up in jeans and a cardigan. But less than an hour into her shopping spree and Britney Spears threw caution to the wind, emerging from a Los Angeles boutique clad in a risque negligee. The singer reverted to her customary braless style as she slipped into the lace-trimmed nightie, teamed with a pair of blue leather boots. Not even the unseasonably chilly California could stop the 28-year-old mother of two donning the skimpy attire. Britney was pictured today, accompanied by her bodyguards, shopping up a storm Santa Monica’s upmarket Montana Avenue. She spent around 45 minutes in the Only Hearts boutique, where she arrived in her denims, trainers and cardigan.

You know what, she is Britney Damn Spears and she can switch outfits at will if she wants to. To be honest, I don’t really care for either outfit but I do really love our dear Britney so … you go girl :)

Celebs Come Out For The Launch Of A New Collection Of Swatch Watches

Posted: 07 Oct 2010 02:06 PM PDT

Actors, musicians, models and more made their way out to the Plunge Bar at Gansevoort Park Avenue in NYC, NY last night for the official launch party for a new collection of Swatch watches. For the past few decades, Swatch has been producing stylish watches of varying inventive design and this month they have launched their latest creation … the New Gent Swatch watch. Here are some of the photos that were snapped on the red carpet at last night’s Swatch premiere event:

Twilight star Nikki Reed played host of last night’s event and like a good Swatch fan, she was spotted wearing more than one watch on each wrist. As you may know, I am a HUGE fan of Swatch watches (or should I say a BIG FAN of Swatch) and have been for many years. I was so excited when Swatch released their Color Code collection earlier this year … and this New Gent collection seems to be an extension of Swatch‘s love of color. I think it’s so cool that folks are loving and wearing Swatches again … and I understand these new Swatch watches are available in stores now or online HERE. Wee!

Brad Pitt & The Twins Arrive In Hungary

Posted: 07 Oct 2010 01:43 PM PDT

Brad Pitt along with his twin children Knox Léon and Vivienne Marcheline made their grand arrival in Hungary today to meet up with pseudo-wife and mother Angelina Jolie who is there directing her first film. Here is a cute pic of Daddy Braddy and the twins at at the VIP terminal at the Ferihegy International Airport in Budapest:

The world’s most famous globe trotting family are back together again. Brad Pitt was spotted Thursday arriving at the VIP terminal at the Ferihegy International Airport in Budapest carrying two-year old twins Vivienne and Knox. Angelina Jolie, 35, has already been getting settled in Hungary where she’s working on her yet untitled directorial debut. Filming began a week ago, with Jolie shooting in a Budapest orphanage. The couple’s school age kids are currently enrolled in a French-American school there. Pitt, 46, dressed for the cold weather in a wool cap and shades, had been shooting Moneyball in Boston. The clan, who are expected to spend the next few months in Europe, are residing in a mansion outside Budapest and will spend time in Bosnia where Jolie’s film will also shoot.

Lord, this family really gets around. It wasn’t that long ago that they had settled in France first for the birth of the twins and then for the duration of the filming production of Ange‘s film The Tourist. Now that she’ll be in Budapest for a while directing her first film, it’s time for a new home for the Brangelina Bunch. I don’t know how they manage to do everything all the time but … they seem to do it well. I guess our sights will be set on Hungary in the coming weeks and months for Brangelina news.

Marilyn Monroe Does ‘Vanity Fair’ Magazine

Posted: 07 Oct 2010 01:26 PM PDT

The late iconic Hollywood legend Marilyn Monroe is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of Vanity Fair magazine. The coverstory article devoted to the Blonde Bombshell is focused on a new collection of letters, personal notes, diary entries and poems that have been discovered recently and will be published this Fall in a collection titled Fragments: Poems, Intimate Notes, Letters. Here is our first look at Marilyn on the cover of VF along with an excerpt from the coverstory article:

For all the millions of words she has inspired, Marilyn Monroe remains something of a mystery. Now a sensational archive of the actress's own writing—diaries, poems, and letters—is being published. With exclusive excerpts from the book, Fragments, the author enters the mind of a legend: the scars of sexual abuse; the pain of psychotherapy; the betrayal by her third husband, Arthur Miller; the constant specter of hereditary madness; and the fierce determination to master her art. She was always late for class, usually arriving just before they closed the doors. The teacher was strict about not entering in the middle of an exercise or, God forbid, in the middle of a scene. Slipping in without makeup, her luminous hair hidden under a scarf, she tried to make herself inconspicuous. She usually took a seat in the back of one of the dingy rooms in the Malin Studios, on 46th Street, smack in the middle of the theater district. When she raised her hand to speak, it was in a tiny wisp of a voice. She didn't want to draw attention to herself, but it was hard for the other students not to know that the most famous movie star in the world was in their acting class. A few blocks away, above Loew's State Theater, at 45th and Broadway, there was the other Marilyn—the one everyone knew—52 feet tall, in that infamous billboard advertising Billy Wilder's The Seven Year Itch, a hot blast from the subway grating causing her white dress to billow up around her thighs, her face an explosion of joy. When it was her turn to do an acting exercise focusing on sense memory, Marilyn took the floor in front of a small group of students. She was asked to remember a moment in her life, to recall the clothes she was wearing, to evoke the sights and smells of that memory. She described how she had felt about being alone in a room, years before, when an unnamed man walked in. Suddenly, her acting teacher admonished her, "Don't do that. Just tell us what you hear. Don't tell us how you feel." Marilyn began to cry. Another student, an actress named Kay Leyder, recalled, "As she described her clothes … what she heard … the words that were said to her … she began crying, sobbing, until at the end of it she was really devastated." Was this the real Marilyn Monroe: an insecure, shy, 29-year-old woman? Now an extraordinary archive of Marilyn's poems, letters, notes, recipes, and diary entries has surfaced that delves deep into her psyche and private life. These artifacts shed light on, among other things, her sometimes devastating journey through psychoanalysis; her three marriages, to merchant marine James Dougherty, Yankee slugger Joe DiMaggio, and playwright Arthur Miller; and the mystery surrounding her tragic death at the age of 36. Marilyn left the archive, along with all her personal effects, to her acting teacher Lee Strasberg, but it would take a decade for her estate to be settled. Strasberg died in February 1982, outliving his most famous student by 20 years, and in October 1999 his third wife and widow, Anna Mizrahi Strasberg … Several years after inheriting the collection, Anna Strasberg found two boxes containing the current archive, and she arranged for the contents to be published this fall around the world—in the U.S. as Fragments: Poems, Intimate Notes, Letters by Farrar, Straus and Giroux. The archive is a sensational discovery for Marilyn's biographers and for her fans, who still want to rescue her from the taint of suicide, from the accusations of tawdriness, from the layers of misconceptions and distortions written about her over the years. Now at last we have an unfiltered look inside her mind.

This collection of writings is bound to be of great interest to Marilyn Monroe fans around the world. Despite the fact that we may think we know Marilyn, there is no possible way we can ever know who she truly was. This new collection of writings, tho, may shed some light on the woman behind the legend … the woman who was born Norma Jeane Mortenson. After the jump, check out an image of one of her writings and read one of her previously unreleased poems …

Among the poems included in this collection is one about one of Marilyn‘s husbands, famed playwright Arthur Miller:

my love sleeps besides me —
in the faint light — I see his manly jaw
give way — and the mouth of his
boyhood returns
with a softness softer
its sensitiveness trembling
in stillness
his eyes must have look out
wonderously from the cave of the little
boy — when the things he did not understand —
he forgot

Another subject of Marilyn‘s poetry was her great-aunt Ida … who doesn’t sound like she was a very nice woman:

Ida — I have still
been obeying her —
it's not only harmful
for me to do so
but unrealality because
life starts from Now ….
working (doing my tasks that I
have set for myself)
On the stage — I will
not be punished for it
or be whipped
or be threatened
or not be loved
or sent to hell to burn with bad people
feeling that I am also bad.
or be afraid of my [genitals] being
or ashamed
exposed known and seen —
so what
or ashamed of my
sensitive feelings —

I must admit, I’m not a big MM fan but I am terribly intrigued by these new writings. Even if the poetry isn’t very good, I’m really curious to read the words of one of the world’s most famous women, if only to try and get a peek into who she was when she lived. Despite Marilyn‘s huge success, there is no question she was a very tortured person inside. These new writings may shed some light on that torture so that we may, at last, begin to learn a bit more about the legend.

The Art Of ‘War’

Posted: 07 Oct 2010 12:47 PM PDT

Inspired by my renewed interest in video games lately, I finally managed to buy a copy of the new game Transformers: War for Cybertron for the Nintendo DS:

I’ve been meaning to get this game since it was released last Summer because my dear friend Darion is responsible for the game. He was the head honcho in charge of the game’s creation at Activision so it’s pretty cool being able to play a video game that your friend produced. The game is available in Decepticons version and Autobots version (naturally, I went for the bad guy Decepticons version). I haven’t been able to play with it too much but I did spend part of my evening last night figuring things out. It’s a fantastic game … and I couldn’t be more proud of Darion’s hard work :D

Tonight, David and I have plans to attend an event for Ralph Lauren but I have an appointment that might impede my attendance. I’m gonna try to work it all out as best I can so … we’ll see. Thankfully, the rain has gone away here in LA and the sun is shining again. Temps are supposed to go up a lot this weekend so I’m really looking forward to the warmer weather :D

PS: Congrats goes out to Pink reader Katrina who won the tickets to see Maroon 5 in concert tomorrow night. Thank you all so much for your entries! Be on the lookout for more fun contests soon!!

Julie Benz Loves Her Snuggie

Posted: 07 Oct 2010 11:07 AM PDT

Julie Benz, who stars in the new hit ABC series No Ordinary Family, posted a fun photo on her official Twitter profile last night which I thought would be very fun to share with all y’all … behold:

She tweets: I found my doppelganger

Hahahaha … I love this! Not only do I heart Julie entirely as an actress on some of my fave shows of all time (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Dexter) but I also love her love for the Snuggie! Who knows, mebbe if she gets tired of acting she can get a job as a Snuggie model? But, I really hope she doesn’t get tired of acting because I love her in everything that she does. I am so in love with No Ordinary Family … it’s such a fun show and I am loving the way the storyline is turning out. If you don’t watch the show, you can catch up with eps online HERE. Check it out … cuz I’d much rather see Julie Benz on my TV rather than on my box of Snuggie.

Jessica Simpson Sings For The Troops

Posted: 07 Oct 2010 10:10 AM PDT

Jessica Simpson paid a visit to some of our US military personnel stationed in the Arabian Sea over the weekend to spread a bit of cheer … but unfortunately, according to reports, she got a bit sea sick in the process. Undaunted, Jess soldiered on (as it were) and pushed thru her performance … and even managed to recover enough to sign a few autographs and pose for a few photos. Here is a pic of Jess with a couple of our military men and some deets from her visit to the USS Truman over the weekend:

Jessica Simpson fought through a bout of seasickness to perform for troops on a U.S. NAVY aircraft carrier stationed in the Arabian Sea at the weekend. The singer spent two days aboard the USS Harry Truman, meeting seamen and auditioning singing sailors to perform with her when she switches on New York’s Christmas lights later this year. But Simpson struggled when it came to performing for troops after the sway of the sea left her feeling nauseous. After seeking medical attention onboard, the singer went ahead with the show, but was shaky behind the mic, according to audience members. A sailor’s wife tells the National Enquirer, “Jessica was a real trooper. After a quick visit to sick bay, she was signing autographs and joking with servicemen and women about the reasons for her bad gut. In fact, she was totally accessible throughout the trip – posing for photos in a Super Hornet jet fighter and taking pictures with everyone who asked.” “Her show may have been a bust but she was still a hit with the sailors.” The sailor who Simpson picks to sing with her will also record a duet with the pop star for her upcoming Christmas album.

Aww … what a great story. Even despite her illness, Jessica managed to push on in order to spread as much cheer as possible to our brave servicemen and women over the weekend. It is so small thing when celebrities take time out of their schedules to make their way overseas to visit with the troops. I may poke fun at Ms. Simpson from time to time but I absolutely love and respect all the work she does to entertain our military personnel. Well done, Jess … and keep up the great work!

Eva Longoria Will Host The 2010 MTV Europe Music Awards

Posted: 07 Oct 2010 09:19 AM PDT

The 2010 MTV Europe Music Awards are about to get really Desperate this year … because Desperate Housewives star and “global style iconEva Longoria has been tapped to play host to the annual MTV awards show. Here is our first look at the promo image released by the MTV EMAs of this year’s host Eva Longoria:

Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria Parker has been announced as the host of this year’s MTV European Music Awards. The actress said she was “beyond excited” about presenting the ceremony in Madrid next month. Kings of Leon, Ke$ha and Kid Rock have been added to the line-up, which also includes Katy Perry and Linkin Park. Perry, who hosted the show in 2008 and 2009, has tied with Lady Gaga for the most nominations, with a total of five. The singers will go head to head in four of the five categories they have been nominated in, including best pop, best female, best song and best video. Eminem has received four nods, while rock bands 30 Seconds to Mars and Muse have bagged three nominations apiece. R&B star Usher has also picked up three nods in the best pop, male and song categories … Other British acts to receive nominations include X Factor winner Alexandra Burke and Professor Green – both of whom are up for Push Act – and Gorillaz who are also in the running in the world stage performance and alternative categories.

As you may recall, American comedienne Chelsea Handler played host to the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards here in the US last month so it would seem that the EMAs is lookin’ to infuse some of that Americanness into their party as well. Something tells me that the EMAs audience will be a bit more kind to Eva than the US critics were to Chelsea. I really love that the EMAs take place in a different European city each year … and this year the fete will be in Madrid, Spain. Who will walk away with the most EMAs this year? We’ll have to wait until November 7th to find out. What do y’all think … will Eva Longoria make a good awards show host?

More Photos Of James Franco In ‘Candy’ Magazine

Posted: 07 Oct 2010 08:30 AM PDT

Yesterday we got our first look at actor James Franco on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of Candy magazine … which is described as “The First Transversal Style Magazine” geared towards the transgendered community. Today we get to see a batch of photos of Franco, photographed by Terry Richadson, from his Candy mag photospread … behold:

While I stand by my personal belief that James Franco makes an ugly lady, I am still very impressed with his decision to pose in full drag on the cover and in the pages of the first transversal style magazine. Not only does James have no problem with playing gay characters in film but he clearly has no problem showing his support for the transgendered community. I don’t know that there are very many straight actors who would offer the same support. After the jump, check out two more photos from Franco‘s Candy shoot …

Something tells me that James Franco had a lot of fun on this photoshoot. Who knows, with a little help in the make-up department maybe he can get the look down better the next time.

Chelsea Handler Denies That She Is Creepin’ With 50 Cent

Posted: 07 Oct 2010 07:58 AM PDT

Yesterday we saw a photo of comedienne Chelsea Handler lookin’ all coupley with rapper 50 Cent (known to his mother as Curtis James Jackson III) in New Orleans, LA over the weekend, a photo which sparked speculation that a new celebrity couple was in the making. But, according to Chelsea herself, she and Fitty are NOT hooking up … they were merely talkin’ business:

Handler took to her official Twitter profile to clarify what is going on with Mr. Cent and she maintains that what we saw in that photo was a business meeting and nothing more. She tweets:

To be honest, I’m still confused by any association that Chelsea Handler might want to have with 50 Cent. Chelsea has been very vocal about her support of gay rights and yet she chooses to do business or whatever with a man who is famous for homophobia? In any event, at least now we “know” what is going on between them … not sure that it makes sense tho.
