Sade Releases Her Jay-Z Collaboration "The Moon & The Sky" (Remix) + The Nets Fined $50,000 Over Jay-Z's Locker Room Visit

The much talked about collaboration between Sade and Jay-Z is finally here.  Come inside to listen to "The Moon & The Sky" (Remix) and get the deets on how much Jay-Z's trip to the Kentucky Men's Team locker room will cost his New Jersey Nets.

 

Sade has dropped the first single from The Ultimate Collection disc and it features rapper Jay-Z.  We all know Sade doesn't do many duets or collaborations so this really was a big "win" for Roc Nation.

The track will appear on Sade's upcoming classics album called The Ultimate Collection dropping May 3rd. The 28 Track 2-CD Set includes two other new tracks as well.

 

Also, Jay-Z was slapped on the wrist for visiting the Kentucky Wildcats during their March 27th game at the Prudential Center.

The New Jersey Nets (Jay-Z is a minority owner) were fined $50,000 by the NBA because Jay-Z's locker room visit to his fave NCAA team--Kentucky--is considered "illegal contact."  League rules prohibit contact with players who have college eligibility remaining.  Hmmm.....I suppose he knew that. 

As soon as those cameras flashed, I'm sure he knew he was in trouble.  SMH...

Whose Itty Bitty Pink Polka Dot Bikini Booty?!

Guess who hit the beach in Barbados in all her pink and purple polka dot bikini glory yesterday?  The reveal when you read on...

 

 

It's video chick turned reality chick Amber Rose.  She's vacaying in Barbados and is living it up on the beaches with friends.  A vacation from what you ask?  I mean...it's exhausting switching up rapper boyfriends and traveling to clubs and parties to be the arm piece for your current man.  And shooting a "reality show" about sunglasses.  Chick needs a break.  So she showed off her thicker than usual figure in her pink and purple bikini in the Caribbean.

And a break is what she gave herself.  Amber tweeted:

“Wow Dolphins are swimming right outside my window soooo beautiful.”

Then...

“OMG they just told me they’re not dolphins their [sic] Whales! I’m fascinated with whales. I always wanted to be a Marine biologist.”

Marine biologist eh?  Alrighty.

Solange Knowles has really become a turntable-nista and is high in demand for her services.  See candids of her hit the 1s and 2s in Hollywood and photos from the set of Jill Scott's "Shame" video with Eve, Black Thought and Pharoahe Monch.  

 

Solange was spotted at Svedka Vodka's "Night Of A Billion Reality Stars" Gala last night.

She hit up the event in her usual interetsing way.  We feelin' this look?

 

In defense of her outfit, ifyou hate it, she was working.  She hit the turntables and kept the crowd moving.

And in music news.....

As she readies the release of her new album Light Of The Sun, Jill Scott is about to drop a new single called "Shame" featuring some of Philly's finest.

Jilly was joined by Eve, Black Thought and Pharoahe Monch for the music video shoot for "Shame" at the Cecil B. Moore Recreation Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

 

 

We told you earlier that Jill shot the video at the recreation center where she learned to write poetry as a child.  She saved the center from being demolished by remodeling it for the community.  Check out the CNN story here.

MAGAZINE FAB: Mariah Carey Opens Up About Being Pregnant And Her "Babymoon"

Mariah Carey recently opened up to Life & Style about her"Babymoon" and how she is enjoying her pregnancy.  And we can all agree she is glowing. 

While the cover of Life & Style hit the net last wek, another pic of Mimi baring all her baby belly is out.  Plus, a snippet of her article about the decadant babymoon (pre-labor) vacay she took to pamper herself before she gives birth.  Life & Style reports"
 

In her last weeks of pregnancy, Mariah Carey reveals to Life & Style that she took a babymoon for a few days of luxurious rest and relaxation before her twins’ arrival! “A friend told me that before she had her son, she took a babymoon, which is something I’d never heard of before,” Mariah tells Life & Style. “Basically, it's an excuse to do something decadent before the babies arrive!”

And after being in her LA home exclusively for the past five months, the pregnant star needed time away! “I'm pretty sure most moms-to-be out there understand what I mean when I say that after a while of being pregnant, you start climbing the walls and just want to get out of the house,” Mariah says. “So I went to an amazing spa on the ocean with a couple of friends and, of course, Cha Cha and the puppies.”

During the retreat, she indulged in everything a mom-to-be would need, from spa treatments to decadent food and fun! “Since at this point I have to really take it easy, we played board games like Taboo and Catch Phrase, ordered spa food and got as many spa treatments as possible!” Her favorite? A foot massage! “They had a method of getting the circulation going in my feet,” Mariah says, “which slightly diminished the Sasquatch moment we’re dealing with right now. Lol!”

Mariah Carey—posing in the new issue of Life & Style—is happy to have been able to capture her final days of pregnancy. “I am so glad we took these pictures as a keepsake and a reminder of this time in my life,” she tells Life & Style. “Right now I'm counting down the days till we meet the babies.”

But when Mariah posed for these belly-baring photos (above) it “wasn't your typical high-glam shoot,” Mariah Carey’s hairstylist, Randi Petersen, tells Life & Style. “Mariah was able to stand up only for intervals of about 2 to 4 minutes per shot, when normally she'd be on her feet all night. I know she wanted to document this for her babies and fans, but they should know it wasn’t easy.”

Loves all this.  We're waiting on "dem babies" Mimi!

 

ARRESTED...AGAIN! Gucci Mane Locked Up In ATL!

It's like Groundhog's Day with this dude.  DeKalb County Police are reporting that rapper Gucci Mane--government name Radric Davis, was arrested by the DeKalb County Fugitive Squad today. 

 

We've lost count how may times Gucci's been arrested over the last 24 months.  But we've got the deets on his most recent battery charge inside.....

BIG SIGH.  Gucci reportedly battered a female recently, and he had a warrant out for his arrest.  The police say, "...they arrested Davis on a warrant that stated he intentionally caused visible bodily harm to a female by pushing her out of a moving vehicle."

Radric was visiting his probation officer today at the Georgia Department of Corrections Probation Office on Sylvan Road in Atlanta, when he was arrested by the County Fugitive Squad.  SMDH.

My Fox Atlanta reports, "Davis is charged with battery, a misdemeanor but as a result of the arrest will be also charged with violating his probation. Davis is on probation for previous unrelated charges."

 

 

Ever Wonder Why Beyonce, Rihanna, & Gaga Work So Hard?

You've asked time and time again, "Why doesn't [insert name of any over-saturated pop diva here] just go away for a while and take a break?"

 

If you have ever wondered why the young generation of pop artists like Beyonce, Lady Gaga, or Rihanna never take breaks and always seem to be hustling a new project, we have an interesting answer for you inside....

 

It's all about COMPETITION.  At least that's the case acccording to a new report from MSNBC.  The reason Rihanna and Beyonce are always out promoting or working on a new album, movie, fragrance or commercial is the general belief in the industry that if you don't go H.A.M. for at least a full three years, your adoring tweensters will forget about you and move on to the new big "pop" diva.  I personally believe it has something to do with a certain level of TRUE talent--not just the talent of being stylish and controversy-causing and beautiful--that is lacking these days. 

According to MSNBC, one expert said:

"As a newer artist, RiRi is still hustling to establish herself," says independent music and social media marketer Lisa Jenkins.  "Emerging pop artists understand that the more hits they have on the radio, the more love the fans will give them, and the better their career longevity will be."

It's a phenomenon that doesn't necessarily translate to other music genres, such as country or rock, where bands are generally understood to have less competition and therefore, the thinking goes, more time to unspool their music.

MSNBC continued,

"In the pop music business, it's standard for a new talent to work for at least three years straight before taking any kind of break--just to fend off all the other pop tartlets who want that same crown. In fact, three years is considered the standard for any emerging pop diva.

(Between her first solo release and her ascension to film stardom in Dreamgirls, Beyonce worked nearly nonstop for almost exactly three years. And there's a reason why relative newcomer Lady Gaga nearly collapsed during a New Zealand performance last year; she's been working like an animal since her debut studio album came out--less than three years ago.)"

 

That's a far cry from the past.  Fans of the old school might remember that TLC took off four years in between their debut album and their sophomore smash CrazySexyCool.  Now....can you imagine Beyonce going three years without putting out anything?  NOT GONNA HAPPEN.

So as pop music gets more competitive, and by "competitive" we're not necessarily talking about talent, our ladies have to work harder to stay relevant.  The pop music biz is not a playground for the weary.

"D.C. Housewives" Get The AXE, Miami Out Next?

It's been rumored for months, but Andy Cohen and the execs over at Bravo just made it official yesterday.  "The Real Housewives of D.C."...the only city in the "Real Housewives" franchise with a YBF chick outside of the ATL foolishness....has been cancelled.

 

It's the first city to get the axe, and Miami may be next.  Deets when you read on...

D.C. had the potential to be a fabulous addition to the "Real Housewives," but they failed miserably with the casting and the psychologically impaired Salahis.  The one cast member we liked, Stacie Turner, was really the only reason we watched.

Bravo has now announced the D.C. ladies are getting the axe, and the network is focusing on their other cities: Atlanta, New York, O.C., Beverly Hills, New Jersey, and the new Miami.

Reportedly, Miami is getting lower ratings than D.C. did.  So they may be out the door next.  Did anybody even watch the Miami chicks?  It was barely promoted and was a replacement for New York at the time.  So the show only lasted a few episodes and was abruptly ended with a random finale.

Oh wells.  While the uber rich bishes of Beverly Hills are my reigning faves, I'm still waiting on the table flipping cash spending Jersey girls to make a comeback.  Can't wait!
