But was I there to sit awkwardly in a corner and drink as much as possible, or was I there to tweet about spying Elizabeth Banks talking to Katrina Bowden from 30 Rock? Couldn’t I do both? It was only when Au Revoir Simone - a Brooklyn trio that David Lynch often espouses as his favorite musical group – took the stage in the faux-atrium that I rushed front and center. I’ve been fans of the lilting indie trio since I saw them perform at a live NPR taping in 2006, and now was my chance to cover them front and center. And though I definitely stuck out like a sore thumb amongst the classier party-goers, I rocked out hard as Erika Forster, Annie Hart, and Heather D'Angelo made their sweet harmonies. And after all that worrying, it turned out that my weird shoes were actually eye-catching, not an eye-sore. Still, I wouldn’t complain to one day wake up and find myself in these heels or this necklace, both part of the new collection. Am I being too introverted or is letting any of your neighbors invite themselves over for dinner using FourSquare a bit weird? (Creativity-Online) Post from: Crushable |

I’ve seen a good amount of live shows and this one is now at the top. Last night, their most enticing song by far was far ”Gigolo”. Lily’s sultry voice and 50’s pin-up girl look fit perfectly with the quaint wooden bar stools and hanging Christmas lights – put all of these things together and you have quite a cozy combo. If you’re in the New York City area and think you’ve missed your chance to see them, please stop crying. They’re playing again on Sunday the 24th at Pianos on the Lower East Side. Do yourself a favor and check out this band. Lily is a modern day siren and everyone should hear her. You can check out the band’s Myspace to see what all the fuss is about and watch the video below to watch them performing live! Confession: I own only one pair of heels and I’ve worn them a grand total of three times. Occasionally I’ll put on a pair of boots, but more often than not I’m wearing oxfords, flats or one of my many pairs of sneakers. That night at Soho House I was sporting saddle shoe-inspired plimsolls over a pair of tights. Drew had on a pair of high top Reeboks in bright, almost neon colors. The rooftop was heated, so we grabbed our cognac cocktails and lounged on a comfy chaise by the pool, trying to figure out which end of our freshly-rolled cigar to light. (The rounded one!) Almost immediately a cute dude in a baseball cap leaned over and said: “Look at you guys in your cool sneakers.” Drew and our new buddy compared sneaks for a bit — his were grey and purple Nikes. A little later, the guy’s friend wandered over and sat down at the edge of our chaise. Before even saying hello, he looked down at Drew’s feet and asked: “Where did you get those shoes?” Turns out the guy’s a sneaker designer, and he was suitably impressed with DG’s sporty footwear. Last night, Drew hit up a party sponsored by Ann Taylor featuring a performance from the indie rock girl band Au Revoir Simone. She was rocking a totally different pair of high top sneaks, equally as colorful as the Reeboks. After the show, Au Revoir’s lead singer Erica Forster, approached Drew. “I like your sneakers,” she said. “Every time I got nervous on stage I would just look for you in the audience, spot your bright-colored shoes and feel better.” So ladies! We have news for you. Not only is it totally okay to wear sneaks to events, it can actually work in your favor. You’ll be the cool irreverent chick chomping a cigar, while all the other women blend into a sea of leather and heels. And you’ll be all the more comfortable for it. Post from: Crushable |

But it’s been a couple years, and I’ve tried all different methods of the pill: the type that was supposed to clear up the acne I never had, the patch, even NuvaRing. And even though it took literally years of trial and error, I finally found a form of low-estrogen birth control that keeps me relatively sane and didn’t cause me to pack on the pounds the way others did. What freaks me out about this study though, is the thought that the results may scare girls away from any sort of non-condom back-up plan. And while the rate of teens using condoms is going up (that’s a good thing!), lets not forget that the pill was one of the great benefits that came from the women’s lib movement in the 1960s, allowing us to take ownership of our bodies and not worry about having a baby if the condom broke or the guy just didn’t bother wearing them. But what do you think? Does the pill’s cons outweigh its pros? Would you consider trying different forms if they first time doesn’t work out? | Video: Uinterview.com Gives Dominic Cooper Your Questions Posted: 21 Oct 2010 09:22 AM PDT We first started crushing on Dominic Cooper when he was still a sexy, manipulative tween in the British play, The History Boys, for which he later revised his role on film. Since then, Dominic has played a plethora of snake-charmers: he’s the devious partner-in-crime Danny from An Education, played royalty with Keira Knightley in The Duchess, an egotistical rock star in the English film Tamara Drewe, and he’ll be playing a young version of Iron Man’s father, the alcoholic Howard Stark, in the upcoming Captain America film. Uinteview.com, a website that allows its users to send celebrities questions via video, sat down this week with Dominic Cooper. This interview reveals that the hot 32-year-old is far more humble (and funny) than some of the sleazy characters he’s played. Want to see more celeb interviews?
