Heidi Klum is the December cover girl forSelf Magazine. I'm kind of meh on the cover – I like that Heidi still gets magazine covers, but she's less of a high-fashion model these days, and more of a reality celebrity who is embraced by the masses – so no more high fashion for Heidi. Anyway, the interview is very interesting (to me at least) because Heidi talks a lot about aging and how she approaches things in her late 30s. Heidi says that for now, she's not doing any Botox, and she says she doesn't see herself doing it any time soon. But the most interesting part was this advice: "The ultimate beauty secret for a woman getting older is, Don't be too thin! It is always better to have a little meat on your bones." It's like that old saying – you have to make a choice between the body or the face – do you want to look thin, or do you want your face to look good? By the way, I agree with Heidi – a little extra weight does help the face at a certain point.
When it comes to looking beautiful, Heidi Klum doesn’t believe you’re either thin or you’re out. In fact, the Project Runway star, 37, says that as women age, bigger is better.
“The ultimate beauty secret for a woman getting older is, Don't be too thin! It is always better to have a little meat on your bones,” Klum tells Self in the December issue. “When you are just muscle, you end up being gaunt in the face, and that makes you look older by 5 or 10 years.”
The model, who recently ended her professional relationship with Victoria’s Secret, also says she doesn’t sweat growing older – or getting wrinkles. “I don't have anxiety about it, so I'm not running to get Botox. Maybe that will change, but I don't think so. I feel comfortable in my skin and comfortable with aging, so I think it's okay that I get wrinkles.”
In the meantime, she says sleep keeps her looking fresh (”I go to bed at 8:30 most nights”), as does self-tanner. “I like how it looks,” she says, “but sometimes I leave gold shimmery marks all over!"
Of course, looking beautiful isn’t Klum’s only focus. In addition to working on her show and designing a line of active-wear for New Balance, she’s also raising four kids with her husband, Seal, 47. Klum admits it can be overwhelming when Leni, 6, Henry, 5, and Johan, 3, bombard her with questions at the dinner table, or when Lou, 13 months, cries for no apparent reason, but she’s found a means to stay calm.
“I take a deep breath and say, ‘This is my world,’ ” she tells the magazine. “It's a roller coaster. Sometimes you're on top and everything is fabulous, and sometimes it's crazy. But it's what I wanted, and in the end, I love it.”
Another sanity-saver? Making lists.
“I'm a big believer in to-do lists,” she says. “I make them before bed. I think of five things in the shower, and when I come out, I write them down or I can't sleep. I have daily lists and big-picture lists. I set goals and get my work done, but I have to plan for fun things, too. I'm always thinking about what will make my family happier.”
I'm a list maker too, so I can relate. I love a good list. Just the act of sitting down and writing out a grocery list or a shopping list or a HGF list calms me considerably. Heidi has some good advice all over, right? Maybe I'm just back "in like" with her ever since she fought for Mondo on the Project Runway finale. She got my respect for at least trying to talk some sense into Michael Kors and Nina Garcia. Viva la Klum!
Last night, Halle Berry attended a special screening of her new film, Frankie & Alice. The white/cream strapless dress is Pamela Roland – I don't know who did the wrap. For me, the wrap saves the look. The wrap reminds me of the gorgeous white dress she won to 2002 SAGs when she won for Monster's Ball. Without the wrap, the dress is really boring. Yes, Halle is stunning and totally insane with her beauty – I mean, her skin… I just want to lick it. Too much? Admit it, you want to lick it too. I will give Halle credit – she figured out what kind of silhouettes and necklines and colors look great on her many years ago, and she's stuck to it over time. And it works for her – she always looks beautiful. But this is her first film premiere/screening in a while, and I guess I was just hoping for a show-stopper, not just another tube dress. About the film though – Halle is already getting Oscar buzz:
Since Halle Berry won an Oscar in 2002 for “Monster’s Ball” everyone has been wondering if it was a fluke - “Catwoman,” “Gothika” and every other movie she’s made since have only supplied her accusers with lots of supporting evidence. But on December 4, Halle’s finally working in her own defense with “Frankie & Alice,” a true story about an African American exotic dancer with multiple personality disorder — one of which is a white supremacist.
So yea, that’s got Oscar written all over it. The film, which came out of nowhere to be a late entry in this year’s awards race, had a sneak preview screening last night, which is where Black Voices caught up with Halle to find out why this project piqued her interest.
“The minute I heard about this woman’s story, I was intrigued by it, and I was determined to get it to the screen. Once I get my mindset on something, I’m pretty relentless. It’s hard for me to get unstuck once I’m stuck,” she says.
And Halle came to set prepared to embark on this journey. “I read lots of books, and saw lots of tape. I talked to many doctors in the field. I did my homework.”
A stripper with multiple personalities? Oh, Halle. I'm not buying the Oscar buzz on this one, but I still love you.
One last thing – Halle's lover Olivier Martinez did not come to the screening, but she met up with him later for dinner. So… they're still on. And it is hot as hell.
OK! Magazine got an exclusive interview with Joe Simpson, post-engagement. I have to admit something – whenever I think about Jessica's engagement these days, I always get a wave of happiness thinking about how she was c—kblocked by Kate Middleton. After Jess tried to steal Nick Lachey's thunder, Jess had her own thunder stolen! Instant karma. Anyway, Papa Joe Simpson is trying to get some attention for his beloved daughter (Ashlee doesn't count!) and so he's given a shockingly delusional interview. Well… most of it is his normal BS, but then he utters this line: "She is an example of a woman who had overcome obstacles and moved forward. If there’s one woman that Jessica and I are looking at — and where I want Jessica to be — it is Angelina Jolie.” Yes. Jessica Simpson is modeling herself after Angelina. In what way now?
Just after Jessica Simpson announced her engagement to Eric Johnson, her dad, Joe Simpson, sat down with Daphne Barak for his first-ever in-depth interview for this week's issue of OK!. The stage dad opens up about Jessica's future, business and weight and even confronts those nasty control freak rumors.
Daphne, who knows Joe well, says he is overwhelmed with fatherly pride. "I am so happy!" Jessica exclaimed to her father, who tells OK!, "I'm very happy for Jessica."
Joe also added, "May they have a lifetime of joy and happiness."
Jessica and Eric's engagement isn't the only thing the Simpson's are celebrating though. "Jessica does not have to work anymore," Joe reveals. Her businesses with be making a turnover of $700 million by the end of this year!
With everything going so well for the Simpson family, Joe must have seen it as the opportune time to let his guard down and finally open up to the public.
Joe on being the misconception of him as a control freak: "We let the girls [Jessica and sister Ashlee Simpson-Wentz] know we are here for them no matter what. They suffered so much in front of the world that I would not imagine it is possible unless each time it happened, we were there to take care of t hem. I am so happy my daughters want to spend time with us. This is one thing people who judge me don't understand."
Joe on the secret to The Jessica Simpson Collection's huge success: "We always knew Jessica is Midwest America. Some people, when they move to Hollywood, they change. They buy different clothes, have different budgets. We never forget where we are from, where Jessica is from. And that is the clothes and accessories we are producing."
Joe on Jessica's weight: "I have nothing to do with Jessica's weight. Jessica has been working since she was 12. She was told how to look perfect. How many people can look perfect all the time? I think she's an all-American girl. She is sending a message to the world that it is okay to be normal; it is okay to indulge. Her message is: "Let me be normal! Everyone else gets to do it."
Joe on what he wishes for Jessica: "She is an example of a woman who had overcome obstacles and moved forward. If there is one woman that Jessica and I are looking at — and where I want Jessica to be — it is Angelina Jolie."
New game: how Angelina and Farty McDumbAsABoxOfHair are different. Angelina has a thriving film career, while Jessica couldn't pay someone to put her in a movie these days. Angelina is not managed by her freaky, trainwreck father. Angelina doesn't make international headlines for wearing God-awful mom-jeans at a chili cook-off. Angelina also has never farted so loudly in a business meeting that her mom had to yell at her. Of course, that last one is pending. If Angelina was a gasbag, don't you think the tabloids would have pounced on it by now?
In all honesty though… it’s completely dumb to use Angelina as a model - Jessica isn’t going to be an actress anymore, and her biggest success is as the face of a clothing brand, and as a former reality star and singer. You know who Papa Joe should use as a model? Dolly Parton. For real.
Can I just say something that may be very unpopular? I don't want to see Love & Other Drugs, and I think this whole promotional campaign geared towards building up this film as a "love story" and "romantic comedy" is completely lame and cheesy. And these new Entertainment Weekly covers are just the latest of the CheeseFest. You know what they remind me of? Did any of you have parents who met and married in the 1970s, and when you were little, whenever you would go through your house you find these odd 1970s books about dating and love and sex? Or God help you if you found 1970s porn (I did, and that's probably why I have such a thing for hairy men, come to think of it). These EW covers remind me of dated 1970s porn/sex manual covers. And I'm sorry, I still don't think Jake and Anne look like they have much sexual chemistry. It's Brokeback Mountain all over again.
Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway's new romance, Love & Other Drugs, is arguably the sexiest movie of the year. Throughout the R-rated comedic drama (in theaters Nov. 24), they reveal nearly every inch of their enviably toned bodies. So it makes sense that their photo shoot for this week's cover of EW would be equally steamy. In fact, the duo's flesh-baring photo session was so sensual that we decided to put out three separate covers.
Photographer James White, who shot Gyllenhaal and Hathaway in New York, says the costars had an easy rapport. "I thought they'd be a little more tense about it than they were, but it was surprisingly low-key." he says. "I guess after making a movie like that with each other, it's not too big of a deal."
During our interview, Gyllenhaal and Hathaway (who played husband and wife in 2005′s Brokeback Mountain), dish on their intense sex scenes in the film. "There is that revoltingly embarrassing moment when you have to take your clothes off in front of strangers," says Hathaway. "I mean, I don't go to the beach in a bikini for a reason. So I thought, 'Okay, I'm going to be in control. I'm going to do everything properly, disrobe at the last minute, and in between shots get the clothes back on.' But then I found that every time I put my robe back on, it rubbed all the body makeup off, and that added 20 minutes to filming. As with all things in life, the second you stop making it about you and you make it about everyone else, it just got, dare I say, fun." Gyllenhaal also spilled one interesting bit of trivia about the tape that kept certain modesty-preserving patches from falling off: "It supposedly was the same tape that they used on Pirates of the Caribbean to keep everybody's wigs on."
I have seen Jake and Anne interviewed together, and they are very sweet and protective of each other. So… they get along in real life. And maybe they are both totally comfortable with the nudity and all of that. But I still maintain that the campaign for this movie is totally cheesy. It’s supposed to be set in the late 1990s, but it seems like the 1970s.
These are new photos of Nicole Kidman out and about in NYC yesterday, with her daughter Sunday Rose and Keith Urban. It’s actually pretty rare that we get a non-Nashville sighting of the whole family together, so I just wanted to show these photos. Nicole looks… I mean… sure. I go back and forth on the state of her frozen face. Sometimes it looks completely crazy and jacked, sometimes it looks almost normal. She must really have mixed feelings about what she does her face, and maybe sometimes she stops for a brief moment? That’s just a theory.
Anyway, I just wanted to mention Sunday - she’s starting to look like Nicole, isn’t she? I always thought Sunday looked more like Keither, but it looks like Sunday’s turning into a fair-skinned ginger beauty. I really love these photos of them - they all look so sweet together.
Parade has a new interview with Cher, and she appears on the cover over a red background and wearing peach-colored makeup that in no way flatters her. It could be worse, though. I’m impressed with how candid and open she is, which has pretty much been the case during this entire press tour for Burlesque. On the Late Show last week, Cher admitted to having slept with a bunch of male celebrities, including Tom Cruise, Eric Clapton, and Warren Beatty. In this interview, she explains that she “enjoyed them all… and was always happy when the next man came along.” You go, Cher! She also has a new boyfriend, a 52 year-old screenwriter. She says in what I believe to be all seriousness that she’s never been with a guy over 30 before. She’s 64! Here’s more:
On Chaz’s gender reassignment "When Chaz first told me about wanting a sex change, I had a really hard time with it," Cher says. "We talked about the transgendered thing intermittently for years. She was unhappy. Plus, she was doing drugs. [Chaz was addicted to OxyContin]. I believed that once she stopped drugs, she would have a much better life and put the transgender idea on the back burner." But after getting sober in 2004, Chaz became more determined than ever. "She said to me, 'If I'm ever going to do it, I've got to do it now. I'm 40,' " Cher recalls. "I went, 'If you've got to do it, dear, you've got to do it.' " In May, Chaz's gender and name were legally changed. "When I realized she was going to do it, it was rocky for me. I thought, What will the press do to her? What will they do to the two of us together? It's going to be the biggest nightmare that will not stop. But the press was kinder than I thought they would be."
"It's hard, 'cause she's still my girl. But she has an inner strength and she's a courageous person—she believes what she believes. She and her girlfriend came over for dinner last night. All of us were there, my boyfriend too."
On Sonny's control over her "He didn't want me to grow up or have any freedom. I wasn't allowed to do anything except work. We worked more than we lived."
On Sonny Bono's cheating "Stardom made Sonny a huge womanizer," Cher says. "One woman, or even five, was not enough for him. I found all this out afterward. I asked him, 'How did you manage the logistics?' I was trusting and faithful with him. The truth is, I'm not so sure we should've ever been husband and wife." Feeling trapped and depressed, she considered suicide. "I thought about jumping off a hotel balcony," she admits. "Then I thought, No, I can just leave him. When I told Sonny, he said, 'If you leave me, America will hate you and you won't have a job.' I went, 'You know what, Sonny? I just don't care!' "
On her second husband, rocker Gregg Allman "Gregory was a Southern gentleman who also happened to be a heroin addict. I kept going to rehab with him to help him try to kick drugs. It was very hard for him. Then Elijah was born, and a year later I left Gregory for good. As crazy as I was about him, I wasn't going to let him be around my kids." Their son Elijah Blue Allman, now 34, struggled with heroin dependency, but he has reportedly been drug-free since an intervention organized by his mother in 2003. "Elijah's doing really well," she says. "He's a good artist, a painter. He's been asked by Louis Vuitton to design a label for them."
On dating Warren Beatty, Tom Cruise, Val Kilmer, and Richie Sambora "I enjoyed them all! I never felt I chose badly, and I was always happy when the next man came along. I can usually last about two years with a man, and that's it. The moment the relationship goes into the phase of more commitment, it changes."
On her new man, Ron Zimmerman, a 52-year-old TV screenwriter she met online "Even though I'm older than him, I'd never before been with anybody over 30," she admits, adding that Zimmerman is not her usual type: "Ron is short, a bit scraggly, like an absentminded professor. He's the funniest person I have ever met, and the most eccentric—so bizarre and kind and very special."
I really appreciate how Cher has shared her struggles with Chaz’s gender change but has remained supportive of his choice. You can tell that she loves Chaz no matter what. She’s such a trip with the way she describes her past and dealing with Sonny cheating and trying to control her. I love how she seems totally over it and like she’ll tell us whatever we want to know. I’m glad she’s doing so well. This movie will probably flop, but that’s not her fault. It looks cheesy as hell and has Christina Aguilera in it.
How is Elisabetta Canalis able to hold on for so long? I was just thinking about her the other day – wondering why we hadn't heard anything from her recently. It looks like she was biding her time, waiting patiently, doing filthy things to George Clooney in the privacy of their Chamber of Doom and Whips. The event was The Human Rights Ripple of Hope Awards – Clooney got an award for his work in Sudan, and his total activism and advocacy, I would imagine.
George Clooney was pleased to hear Ryan Reynolds is PEOPLE’s Sexiest Man Alive this year – or perhaps more accurately, he’s relieved it isn’t someone else.
“I’m very happy for him,” Clooney said graciously at a humanitarian awards dinner in New York on Wednesday. He then added, jokingly: “I’m also happy that it’s not Brad [Pitt].”
Clooney and Pitt are both multiple winners of the award – the former in 1997 and 2006, the latter in 1995 and 2000.
Clooney, 49, who is active in humanitarian causes, was on hand at Chelsea Piers to accept a different honor: the Ripple of Hope Award at the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights awards dinner.
“It’s really a lovely thing,” the Oscar winner said of the recognition. “I feel over-honored, but I’m happy to be able to do it to bring attention to a lot of other people here.”
It was a family affair, as Clooney was accompanied by his father, Nick Clooney, as well as his girlfriend, Italian TV host Elisabetta Canalis, 32.
Given the actor’s popularity and interest in politics, running for president wouldn’t seem out of the question. Asked why he hasn’t yet, Clooney joked, “Because I don’t have the ties for it.”
George might have taken home an award, but it's Eli who gets the prize – she's clung to him longer than most women. She has hidden talents (truly, HIDDEN, because she's an awful actress), and she's been able to parlay that crap into the kind of legitimacy most of Clooney's hookers only dream of. And look at her face – she knows she's awesome. That's the kind of SmugFace Kate Bosworth would kill to wear.
MTV is currently working on Teen Mom 2, according to the executive producer of the show, who confirms the news to USA Today. The show will follow the latest crop of 16 and Pregnant stars as they struggle to raise their children. As for the fate of the current Teen Mom show, starring Maci, Farrah, Amber and Catelynn, it sounds like they’re not sure whether they’ll do something like a special or whether they’ll have an entire new season. You can bet that the legal issues and criticism they faced over airing Amber’s domestic abuse of Gary will factor into their decision. It’s not like they’re going to give up this lucrative format, though. Here’s more, from Access Hollywood:
MTV is shooting a new season of "Teen Mom" with a group of girls pulled from the latest cast of the network's hit, "16 And Pregnant," according to USA Today.
"'Teen Mom 2' is shooting right now," executive producer Morgan J. Freeman reportedly told the paper.
As for the fate of the original "Teen Mom" cast, including Maci Bookout, Catelynn Lowell, Farrah Abraham and Amber Portwood, Freeman said the network has yet to determine if they would continue with a third season.
"We're doing some continuous-type shooting with the original 'Teen Mom' [cast]," Freeman told the mag. "But nothing's been announced yet about what we'll do with that."
As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, the reality show has seen its share of conflict. Debra Danielson — mother of teen mom Farrah Abraham — was arrested for allegedly hitting her daughter in January. Meanwhile, a criminal investigation was reportedly launched into Amber Portwood's behavior in October, after she was caught on camera on the MTV series kicking and punching the father of her 2-year-old daughter in front of their young child.
"Teen Mom 2" is slated to premiere on January 11, 2011.
I haven’t watched the latest series of 16 and Pregnant, but I’ve seen Teen Mom and am now going back and watching the 16 and Pregnant episodes with those young women. (I wanted to call them girls, but I guess I should call them women since they’re moms .) There’s something really fascinating about this show, but I also understand the criticism that it can be exploitive. I’ll probably watch this show, too, and MTV is counting on people like me getting used to a new crop of teen moms. Does it help these young parents at all to put them on TV? They’re sure serving as a cautionary tale for a lot of kids. They also make some money out of it, as much as the show tries to hide that aspect of it.
Oksana Grigorieva was on Larry King last night to tell her side of the story. She described Mel’s attack on her the night of January 6th and explained how he hit and choked her and “brandished” a gun. She also denied leaking the phone tapes or trying to extort money from Mel, claiming that she’d walked out on a $15 million offer from Mel to drop the charges and provide him increased visitation with his one year-old daughter, Lucia. As for her motivation for recording Mel, she said that she was afraid that she wouldn’t live through the night and that she also wanted a record for Mel, so that she could show him how he sounded.
I think Kaiser summed up this situation best in her last story on Oksana, in which she wrote that “even with all of her faults as a person, [Oksana is] still a victim of a violent, nasty piece of sh-t who physically and emotionally abused her, and the fact that she's going to war with him publicly makes me respect her.” My feelings about Oksana changed slightly after watching her on CNN, where she came better than she did in thevideos she made for People.com. (Here’s a link describing my impressions at that time, which I don’t want to get into again.) So I agree with Kaiser and do respect the way Oksana is calling Mel out, even though many people are faulting her for that same reason. She’s not a “perfect victim” and is not taking it laying down. E! Online has a very good summary of Oksana’s interview, and you can read the transcript and watch the full video on CNN
“Jan. 6, this year, the beating took place,” Grigorieva recalls in the interview that aired tonight. “Mel actually assaulted me while I was holding the baby in my arms…I ran into my son’s bedroom and told him, ‘Mel’s crazy.’ ”
She says that her 12-year-old son, Alexander (with actor Timothy Dalton), hid behind the bed as she stood there with Lucia, “like a mother protecting her cubs.”
He came into the room “and struck me twice,” she continues. “He wasn’t drunk. He hit me, and choked me in front of my son and brandished a gun at me.”
Gibson was apologizing by the very next day, promising to get “treated” and “be evaluated,” Grigorieva says.
In a signed declaration, one of the supposedly sealed documents from their family court case that have been leaked to the press, Gibson admitted to slapping, but not striking, his ex.
According to the actor, they fought and Grigorieva grabbed Lucia out of her bassinet and started running. “Her rapid movements were causing Lucia’s little body to be flung from one side to the other, her head shaking violently…I slapped Oksana one time with an open hand in an attempt to bring her back to reality,” Gibson stated. “I did not slap her hard. I was just trying to shock her so that she would stop screaming, continuing shaking Lucia back and forth.”
Either way, Grigorieva tells King that she feared for her life afterward and ended up taping Gibson on the phone because she thought she wouldn’t “live through the night,” because he threatened to come over and kill her.
“I wanted my mother to be able to prove that, if I’m dead, that this is who did it,” she says.
And as if the recordings that made it online weren’t disturbing enough, Grigorieva says she has “nonedited” tapes that are “unforgivable.”
Having said her decision to speak out was all about this issue of domestic violence and her daughter, Grigorieva says she thinks victims of abuse are “really decent human beings.”
“They cover up for perpetrators, they’re trying to help them,” she says. “In the back of my mind, I thought, If I don’t killed tonight, I’d like him to hear what he sounds like, to get…better.”
“I wanted to help him, as strange as that may sound.”
Martin Garbus, the attorney who joined her on the air, explained that it is legal to record people without their knowledge in California if one feels his or her life is being threatened or if there are “illegal connotations” in the conversation.
When asked how the tapes got released, Grigorieva says, “I have no idea. They were in possession of my lawyers and the court.”
She says he called her 30 or 40 times in one night, and she recorded him eight or nine times.
Meanwhile, Gibson has accused Grigorieva of making the tapes to extort money from him.
“We think the extortion charges are retaliatory for the domestic violence case,” Horowitz told E! News. “She talks about why she made the tapes. She was fearful and wanted [Gibson] to change. She wasn’t trying to extort him.”
“I never have extorted him,” she says on TV tonight.
Grigorieva admits that not breaking up with Gibson after he supposedly became violent was a mistake.
“I stayed for a little bit too long,” she says. “I gave him last chance. He asked me for the last chance. He begged. He cried. He cried on his knees. What am I supposed to do?”
“At the beginning of our relationship, he said, ‘There’s a dark side of me I don’t want you to see,’ ” Grigorieva tells King, who asks her multiple times about Gibson’s drinking.
“No liquor, not once,” she insists, maintaining that Gibson never drank around her.
“As a human being, as the mother of his child, I would forgive him, but he really needs to come and acknowledge what he’s done and what he’s doing,” she says.
A lot of people are going to be wondering about her motivations for coming forward after she’s released all this evidence. I think she wants to share her side of the story, and try and show that she’s not doing this for money. She also is worried about her daughter now that Mel has shared custody. On Larry King, Oksana claimed to be speaking out for domestic violence victims and said “I guess what I’m trying to do is step in for domestic violence, not just for myself, not for this six months of torture that I went through and my daughter, but also other domestic violence victims. Because this is a very high profile case and I have this opportunity to be invited by you. Other victims might not have such a chance to speak up.” Do I believe that’s her main motivation? No. I do believe that she’s telling the truth about Mel, though. We heard him admit hitting her while she was holding the baby and threaten to kill her, and his excuse for that is laughable.
Update: As a result of this interview Mel is filing for full custody of Lucia, claiming “that Oksana’s false and derogatory statements to the media about Mel and the attempt to sully his character show she is not acting in the best interests of Lucai.” This only shows what a mean, petty bastard he is.
All sorts of details have been coming out in the breaking story of Tony Parker and Eva Longoria’s divorce after just over three years. The latest news is that Tony was cheating with the wife of one of his former basketball teammates, a detail that is thought to have been leaked by Eva to her BFF at Extra, Mario Lopez. The alleged mistress has been named, and she’s Erin Barry, the estranged wife of Tony’s friend, former San Antonio Spurs player Brent Barry. Apparently Eva found hundreds of text messages between Erin and her husband, which prompted her to file for divorce. She also supposedly found evidence on Facebook that he had cheated on her with another woman back when they were first married.
Celebuzz has an exclusive today with news from a “source” who claims that Parker was just friends with this other woman, and that their hundreds of text messages were “innocuous.” Give me a break!
As the world still adjusts to the news of Eva Longoria and Tony Parker’s impending divorce, Celebuzz has obtained exclusive new information about the circumstances behind their split.
A source close to Parker confirms rumors that the NBA star had sent numerous text messages to his former San Antonio Spurs teammate Brent Barry’s wife, Erin Barry (pictured above), but that the two had NOT shared a romantic relationship.
According to the source, the Barrys have been close friends with Longoria and Parker for some time, even spending New Year’s Eve together a couple of years ago at Longoria’s Los Angeles restaurant, Beso. The Barrys are currently in the midst of a divorce and, our source adds, Parker and Erin’s texts involved the two leaning on each other as their respective marriages went through troubles. A seemingly innocent exchange between close friends, it would seem, but Longoria appears to be prone to jealousy in her marriage to Parker.
One interesting note, Parker recently signed a four-year, $45 million extension with the Spurs. Eva waited til after that deal was signed to file for divorce.
Whatever the motive might have been, our source stresses that Parker and Longoria’s split is amicable.
First of all, doesn’t every guy use this “we’re just friends” line when they get busted cheating? Even assuming this is true, it’s not innocuous to have an ongoing emotional affair with another person and in no way does it “help” a troubled marriage. If anything, it completely ruins the trust and feeds discontent within the relationship. When you have a new person on the side fawning all over you you’re hardly trying to mend things with your wife. Plus, if it was “innocuous” why didn’t he tell his wife about it? So either way, Tony got what was coming to him. I also love the detail that Eva waited to file until Tony got his $45 million contract nailed down. You know that he’s the one who leaked this story to make himself look like the wronged party.
Also, I read US Weekly’s cover story on Eva and Tony and nowhere does it say that she is positive that he was sleeping with this woman. Still, all these messages are damning enough on their own. How can she ever trust the guy again?
