We Love You Jane Lynch, But We Disagree Posted: 13 Jan 2011 12:30 PM PST Last week, Will & Grace co-creator Max Mutchnick spoke about gay actors playing straight roles, and said that he does NOT think audiences are "as homophobic as the media would have us believe." Glee's Jane Lynch seems to have a much different opinion. Here's what she had to say on the subject: "I don't know when or if [gay actors in leading roles] will ever happen. I think because since most of the world is straight — and maybe we'll get to a place where this will happen — most of the world is straight and we want the audience to project their hopes and dreams for love and romance onto those actors. And if it's not in some way possible, maybe never probably, in their mind that it could never happen, then they're not going to do it. You know, most people are straight, and I think that's probably why…. This is a business of projection and desiring people from afar. And watching people go through trials and tribulations, so there has got to be some truth to it, in terms of, 'I could see myself with that person.' Because the leading man and lady are the person we want them to fall in love with, and most of the audience is straight. So for right now, we can only use straight actors." Sorry Jane, but we're with Max on this one. Just look at Neil Patrick Harris! He's straight on How I Met Your Mother, and that show's been on the air since 2005! Heidi Fleiss Wants You All To Lay Off Charlie Sheen! Posted: 13 Jan 2011 12:20 PM PST We're not sure that a woman who made a great portion of her living by providing this mess with hookers has any business defending him, but whatever. We'll see what she has to say. Former Hollywood Madam Heidi Fleiss is speaking out on behalf of Charlie Sheen, and thinks that his hard-pAArtying, wife-beating, and hooker-happy behavior is just a-okay, and people need to lay off - because apparently, she doesn't think that he's an addict, like Lindsay Lohan! She explains: "Look, people need to leave Charlie the fuck alone. Do they really expect him to go to church when he is not working? He is the highest paid actor on television — on a really popular show — and he always delivers by turning up on time and putting in great performances, and that's all that matters. There is no comparison with Lindsay Lohan because she is not functional and is an addict with a sickness - I should know because I've been to rehab several times too. It's not as if we see Charlie smoking a crack pipe or anything, the guy just loves to party, and people just don't seem to want to accept that. Also, Charlie is making a lot more money than Lindsay and he should be allowed to spend it whatever way he sees fit. She's the one that has to try and get her career and life back on track. He's doing fine. Really - Charlie Sheen with hookers? It's not a real surprise, is it? Who's fooling who here?!" We're gonna sit with this one for a second before we decide exactly how we'd like to respond. …aaaaaand we're off: All right, listen, just because someone has the monetary means to act however the hell he wants - and with ZERO regard for others, might we add - does NOT make it okay. And we're not sure what your exact definition of the word 'functional' is, because we're pretty sure that locking a hooker in a bathroom and having a cocaine-fueled meltdown in a hotel room while your ex-wife and CHILDREN are down the hall doesn't fit anywhere into that! Nor does threatening your OTHER ex-wife with a knife, choosing to ignore your call time so you can run around Vegas at a porn convention without letting the bosses of your show - who provide you with $1.8 million per episode - know where you are and why you won't be where you're supposed to be! Christian Bale's five-year-old daughter Emmeline will have to wait quite some time if she ever wants to follow in her daddy's footsteps. The actor wants his daughter to enjoy her childhood and stay away from professional acting! Bale said: "(I) didn't like that (being famous as a teen). That wasn't for me at all. Some people can deal with it, but I found it to be a complete pain in the arse and embarrassing. Also, there was the annoying notion of everyone going, 'Ah, you should know better' when I was done for shoplifting. But, no, I shouldn't have known better. There was no reason I should. I could have done without that side of things. It was nice to go travelling and have those experiences (filming movies), but look, if anyone in my family - my nieces or my daughter - wanted to start at that age, I'd absolutely believe in and support their dreams, but I would tell them, 'No bloody way - not professionally.' It's just too young. You need to be anonymous at that age, you need to go and get into all sorts of trouble and not have anyone know who you are. It's ruined when everyone knows who you are." It's Down To Two! Who Will Replace Andy Whitfield On Spartacus: Blood And Sand? Posted: 13 Jan 2011 11:40 AM PST Given the really tragic circumstances surrounding this, it will be a pretty somber victory for either of these guys. After actor Andy Whitfield's cancer returned in September and forced him to resign from his title role on the Starz series Spartacus: Blood and Sand, the second season of the show has been in limbo as producers attempt to find a suitable replacement for the part. Although three relatively unknown actors were said to be in contention, sources close to the production are now linking former Prison Break actor Dominic Purcell as the number one choice to replace Whitfield! The actor is said to have e-mailed a screen-test to the Starz head honchos last Friday, and the decision is now between him and Liam McIntyre, whom we're hearing may not have the muscular frame to convincingly portray the character! Hmm. We definitely think Liam looks a lot more like Andy, but he definitely needs to be pretty jacked if he's going to be a gladiator, so we can understand why Dominic has been pulled in for consideration, as well! She was happy to smile and pose for photogs on the way in, but Lilo called for a police escort while leaving the restaurant. Can't she just chill at home and eat from there for a while? Rep. Gabrielle Giffords Is Already Opening Her Eyes! Posted: 13 Jan 2011 11:20 AM PST This truly is a miracle! Despite being in critical condition after a near-fatal gunshot wound to the head less than a week ago, U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords was reported to have opened her eyes for the first time yesterday, while surrounded by her husband, parents, and other members of Congress! Sen. Kristen Gillibrand recounted that shortly after President Obama visited the Congresswoman in her hospital room, she sat down and held her hand, to which Giffords responded by squeezing back. She explains: "It was extraordinary. It was a miracle to witness. She absolutely could hear everything we were saying. And Debbie (Wasserman Schultz, D-Florida) and I were telling her how much she was inspiring the nation with her courage, her strength, and we were talking about the things we wanted to do as soon as she was better." However, it was when Wasserman Schultz mentioned wanting her to come visit his vacation home, that Giffords eyes began to open. She recalled telling her: "'Come on, you've got to get better, because we expect you up in New Hampshire this summer.' And just as I said that, that's when she suddenly was struggling to open… her eyes. First just a little bit. And the doctors couldn't believe it. They said, 'This is such a good time.' Other than the birth of my kids, this was the most incredible feeling, to see literally one of your closest friends struggle to come to you, her family, her friends. We know how strong Gabby is….You could see all the strength pouring out of her to touch her husband." Gillibrand continued: "She took a moment to focus, you could see she was focusing. And then Mark said … 'Gabby, if you can see me, if you can see me, give us a thumbs-up … She didn't only give a thumbs-up, she literally raised her entire hand. We were just — we couldn't stop crying … It was just one of those moments that life brings you so rarely." Furthermore, Gillibrand says, she was able to reach out to her husband "and is touching him and starts to really choke him like she was really trying to hug him, and she touches his ring, then she grabs his whole watch and wrist and then the doctor was just so excited, he said, 'You don't understand…this is amazing what she is doing right now and beyond our greatest hopes.' She wanted to tell us, 'I'm with you.'" Dr. Michael Lemole, chief of neurosurgery, revealed that she's been opening her eyes with more frequency since that first time, and concluded: "This is all very encouraging…It is a significant move forward. This is the part that doctors, I think, have the hardest time with — those intangibles in medicine. Miracles happen every day…A lot of medicine is outside our control." Hearing this wonderful news actually brings us to tears! This woman has truly proved that she is a fighter, and our thoughts and best-wishes will continue to be with her as she beats all of the odds that have been put against her!
