‘Battle: Los Angeles’ Releases A Movie Trailer

Posted: 12 Jan 2011 05:45 PM PST

Early last month we learned the sad news that Aaron Eckhart will NOT be appearing as Harvey Dent/Two Face in the upcoming sequel film Batman: The Dark Knight Rises but right now we get to see him in a new trailer for the upcoming action film Battle: Los Angeles. As you can guess, Battle is another alien invasion film … but with Eckhart in the lead, is there really anything to complain about?

When violently hostile extraterrestrials are involved, you never know exactly what you might get. Battle: Los Angeles could be a major success like Independence Day was in 1996 … or it could be a massively embarrassing flop like Skyline was last year. One thing’s for sure, I heart Aaron Eckhart so … I’ll deffo be checkin’ out this film:

I mean … it looks … OK … right? Yeah, alright, I’ll have to see more before I’m convinced it’ll be worth my time and money but … I think this movie could turn out to be fun. What do y’all think … does this look like an entertaining winner or a waste of time wiener?

Leighton Meester Is The New Face Of Missoni

Posted: 12 Jan 2011 04:16 PM PST

Earlier today we got our first look at Natalie Portman as the new face of Miss Dior Chérie and right now we learn that Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester (who can also be seen in the new film Country Strong, in theaters now) is featured in the new ad campaign for the Missoni design house.

Leighton Meester has had her fair share of hits and misses on the red carpet lately. And while co-star Blake Lively continues to dazzle the fashion industry, most recently becoming Chanel’s latest muse, Leighton is clearly determined not to be left behind. Starring in Missoni’s new campaign, Leighton donned a pair of glasses for a trendy geek chic look. The actress, who plays matchy matchy Upper East Side princess Blair Waldorf, appeared carefree and natural in barely-there make-up as she rode a carousel horse in Missoni’s trademark prints … The fun images were shot by photographer Juergen Teller and were said to be inspired by the cover of Beatles album Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band … [Meester] currently appears in campaigns for Vera Wang fragrances and Herbal Essences. The brunette is set to make an appearance at the Golden Globes this Sunday and the question remains: will she be wearing Missoni?

Good for her. So what if Blake Lively is modeling Chanel, Missoni is a great design house, too … right? I love Leighton … she does it all and does most of it well. I love the glasses photo but the carousel photo is cute, too. What do y’all think of Leighton Meester as the new face of Missoni? Impressed?

Kiefer Sutherland Gets His Own Web Series

Posted: 12 Jan 2011 03:20 PM PST

Bad news 24 fans … it looks like we’re gonna hafta wait a bit longer for the big screen adaptation of 24 to hit movie theaters because Fox has rejected the script for the film and it’s back to the drawing board. Good news for Kiefer Sutherland fans, tho. According to Entertainment Weekly magazine, Kiefer will be starring in his very own web series called The Confession that is set to debut in March on Hulu.

Kiefer Sutherland, internet star? That's the plan: EW has learned exclusively that Sutherland will follow up his critically-beloved run on 24 with a web series that'll bow on Hulu this March. Dubbed The Confession, the 10, five-to-seven-minute webisodes will feature Sutherland as a hitman who has a theological discussion with a priest (John Hurt of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) about why his victims deserved to die. The series, which was written and directed by Brad Mirman, ends with one helluva twist. Digital Broadcasting Group is producing the series. "It came about in such a different way," Sutherland told EW exclusively … "Chris started talking about wanting to do a drama, but his criteria was so different. A drama in 5-minute episodes! It was one of those things like a puzzle over the course of the lunch. It can't be that complicated to figure out a story in 5 minutes, right? I couldn't and it frustrated the crap out of me. So I went home that night, still thinking about it, and it stayed with me for three days. I was falling asleep when I literally got this idea of a confessional." The Confession was shot over nine days in New York last month … "In all fairness it looks fantastic," Sutherland said of the web series, which he is exec producing with Young, Joseph Gomes and Maura Mandt. "We shot it in the fifth-largest snow storm. It was pretty amazing."

Yay … this sounds like a fun little project … and a great way to get a Kiefer fix. Head over to EW‘s site HERE to read more about The Confession. Additionally, Kiefer swears that altho the 24 movie script got rejected, plans are still in the works to make the movie:

Sutherland says a big-screen version is still in the works and, in fact, he hopes to begin production within a year. Though Fox ultimately nixed a script by Billy Ray (State of Play), the movie remains "the little engine that could," Sutherland told EW. He acknowledged that 20th Century Fox has been working with director/producer Tony Scott (Man on Fire, The Good Wife) on the project. "Billy did a fantastic job and there are aspects of that story [that will remain]," the actor says. "I couldn't be more thrilled."

Great news all around. While I am STILL heartbroken that 24 had to end its TV run last year, I’m hopeful that these projects will fill the Kiefer void left in my heart … at least a wee bit. Exciting news, yeah?

Natalie Portman Is The New Face Of ‘Miss Dior Chérie’

Posted: 12 Jan 2011 02:35 PM PST

Earlier today we saw a few gorgeous photos of newly pregs Natalie Portman showing off her burgeoning baby bump on the red carpet at the No Strings Attached movie premiere here in LA last night and right now we get to see a new promo ad campaign photo that introduces Natalie as the new face of Miss Dior Chérie.

Making a dramatic entrance from behind a transparent screen with roses, Natalie Portman was presented as Dior's new face to 120 journalists from more than eight countries at Chelsea Piers' Pier 59 Wednesday. Portman's first assignment: being the face for Miss Dior Cherie, one of the brand's iconic fragrances. A series of print ads shot by Tim Walker and a TV campaign by Sofia Coppola both break in March. Of her co-star in the TV ads, 29-year-old Portman cracked: "I felt like a big old cougar. He's, like, 20." The TV ad also features a shot of a white swan — "It's subliminal advertising for my film," quipped Portman, referring to her latest role in "Black Swan." Parfums Christian Dior chief Claude Martinez called Portman "charismatic and elegant," and noted this is the first time the actress has collaborated with a luxury beauty company. But Portman told a tale on herself: when she's not working, she prefers to be au naturel. "I'm pretty casual in my beauty routine in my real life," she said. "Some might say sloppy."

Beautiful, Gorgeous, Exquisite … I LOVE this photo so much! Natalie Portman is the perfect model for this perfume, just perfect. The TV ads directed by Sofia Coppola sound really pretty and I can’t wait to see them. I mean, can life get any better for Natalie these days? When it rains, it pours … and I am so happy that all of this good fortune is pouring on the fabulous Natalie Portman. The next thing you know, she’s gonna win an Academy Award or something … oh wait …

Do you love this ad or what?

Nicki Minaj Does ‘V’ Magazine

Posted: 12 Jan 2011 01:30 PM PST

New rap superstar Nicki Minaj is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of V magazine. In her coverstory interview, Nicki explains what it takes for her to be able to do her thing … and she makes it plainly clear that she is the big boss in charge of everything she does. Her accompanying photospread is a sight to see … and totally Nicki Minaj:

The Rise and Rise of NICKI MINAJ – The tough-talking, one-upping, bodacious, curvaceous Nicki Minaj is taking music to places cooler and more colorful than ever. And in the boys' club of the 21st-century hip hop, she's stolen every scene to become the genre's Barbie-pink princess. Secretly, though, she's gunning for queen.

"Everything I do has been approved by me personally. My team is mostly made up of guys, but none of them would ever think about telling me what to wear or what to do with my hair. They know that ultimately I'm gonna do what I'm gonna do." –Nicki Minaj

During a radio interview last summer in support of Kanye West's new single, "Monster" – a psych-rap posse track featuring Jay-Z, Rick Ross, Nicki Minaj, and indie-folk singer Bon Iver – West declared Minaj to be "the scariest artist in the game right now – she has the most potential to be the number two rapper of all time." (Number one, in Kanye's mind, being Eminem.) It was the kind of outré pronouncement we've come to expect from West, but nevertheless the sound bite set off serious reverberations in the rap community. Nicki Minaj…the funny face with the Day-Glo wigs, bounteous curves, and multiple personalities? Number two rapper of all time? In-old school hip hop circles the idea could be considered profane. Now, just in the wake of her debut album, Minaj is deadly serious about not taking it all too seriously. "I'm an entertainer – I like to make people laugh," she says. "Some will hate it and some will love it, but all will remember it. And that's what I want: to be remembered. Even if I'm saying something hard-core or controversial, there's always a touch of humor, and if you don't like it, it means I'm stirring things up inside of you." At the same time, there's a lot going on inside the artist's own head. "I just always want to do 'me,' but 'me' changes every day. I would crumble up and die if I had to wake up and be the same person every day. I don't silence those voices anymore. I just let them speak."

Nicki is just cool, y’all. I love her vibe, I think her sense of style is really fun … sure, I could do without the dumb scowling that she has made her trademark but, overall, I love everything about her. This photospread is fantastic. The make-up photos are different and the “normal” photos are beautiful. This is your classic Nicki Minaj, and I can totally dig it. Check out the gallery of Nicki‘s V mag photos below.

Victoria Beckham Surfaces Again, Still Hides Baby Bump

Posted: 12 Jan 2011 12:40 PM PST

On Monday we got our first look at the newly pregs Victoria Beckham as she surfaced in public for the first time since hubby David Beckham announced on Facebook that the couple are expecting the birth of their 4th child last Saturday. Today we get to see a few new photos of Vicki B. in London, England earlier today but, unfortch, she didn’t seem in the mood to show off her burgeoning baby bump.

I’m pretty sure VB won’t be able to hide forever but she deffo can make it difficult for anyone to see her in her pregnant state, at least for a while. She’s bound to go shopping or to an event or to the airport sooner or later but, yeah, until she’s ready to show her bump, I think we can continue to look forward to happy photos like this. Ah well, I still heart her robotic majesty … even if she’s playing hard to get.

Not So ‘Secret Rendezvous’

Posted: 12 Jan 2011 12:17 PM PST

Last night David and I met up with our good friends David R. and Darion for a dinner date at Hugo’s in West Hollywood, CA for a LONG overdue catch-up session. While perusing the stacks of vinyl at Amoeba Records in Hollywood last weekend, I came upon 2 copies of Karyn White‘s debut LP (which features her amazing singles Secret Rendezvous, Superwoman and The Way You Love Me) and I *knew* that I had to get the second one for David R. We made the date and had THE best time ever.

We easily talked away 3 hours without batting an eye. Whenever David R. and I get to talkin’ about music, the time just flies. He is honestly one of my favorite people on Earth and I always feel so lucky to know him. He is an endless font of pop music information and without question, I regard his opinion on music over pretty much anyone else that I know. He was very happy to get the Karyn White album (as he should be cuz it’s a fantastic disc) and I was even happier to give it to him :D I’m trying to get him to commit to a night of dancing sometime soon because we MUST shake our booties to Britney Spears‘s new single Hold It Against Me.

Tonight, David and I are meeting up with our friend Gillian who we haven’t seen since last year (can you believe?) so it looks like we’ve got another fun night ahead to look forward to :D

Christina Aguilera & Matt Rutler Take Max Liron To Disneyland For His Birthday

Posted: 12 Jan 2011 11:11 AM PST

Birthday Lurve goes out to little Max Liron Aguilera-Bratman because he is celebrating his 3rd birthday today!! As an early birthday surprise, mama Christina Aguilera and her new boyfriend Matthew Rutler took little Max to Disneyland in Anaheim, CA yesterday and by all accounts, the little family had themselves a grand ol’ time.

I’m assuming the trip to Disneyland took place yesterday because Xtina (and hopefully Max‘s father Jordan Bratman) are planning a party for today. It’s kinda crazy that Max is already 3 years old … it seems like he was just born yesterday. Xtina, as a former Disney employee, managed to finagle a meeting with 3 main Disney characters to pose for a photo with Max … check it out:

I guess it pays to be the child of a former Mouseketeer. Let’s all send our Birthday Lurve and best wishes to 3-year old Max Liron today.

Michelle Williams Does ‘Marie Claire’ Magazine

Posted: 12 Jan 2011 10:39 AM PST

Last month we got to video footage of an interview with actress Michelle Williams as she opened up for the first time publicly about the death of ex-lover and father of her child Heath Ledger. Today we get to see a very smiley and beautiful Michelle on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of Marie Claire magazine. Her interview with MC mag is another chance for her to open up about the loss of Heath.

“Very obviously, for me and for [Matilda], there’s a hole in our life.” Williams says. “Of course the natural inclination is to want to fill it and make it disappear, but what I’ve come to recently is that it’s impossible. Nothing will fit in that hole because what we want back we can’t get, which is this one person. I’m not going to rush anything and scamper around like a mad person and make myself crazy. I’m trying to be respectful of the absence. I’m not trying to fill it up. It is what it is.”

The online version of Michelle‘s excellent interview continues HERE and the full print version can be purchased when this issue hits newsstands on January 18. Along with the interview, Michelle is featured in an absolutely beautiful photospread, which includes this fantastic photo:

Additionally, Marie Clarie magazine has made available this behind the scenes video footage from the shoot:

I really love these photos, I adore her cute short hair but I can’t get over her amazing smile! It is really great to have happy Michelle Williams back among us. This is a great feature in Marie Claire magazine, I am just loving everything about it. She looks really fantastic, don’t she?

Rooney Mara Shows Off Her ‘Dragon Tattoo’ Look On The Red Carpet

Posted: 12 Jan 2011 10:16 AM PST

Last September we got our first look at actress Rooney Mara (The Social Network) in full costume as Lisbeth Salander on the Swedish set of the upcoming David Fincher US remake of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (you may also recall that in October we got our first look at actor Daniel Craig in character as Mikael Blomkvist on the Dragon Tattoo set). Today we get a closer look at Mara‘s severe Dragon Tattoo look for the first time here in the US in photos from her appearance at last weekend’s 22nd Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala.

Rooney Mara attended the film festival this past weekend as a show of support for her film The Social Network which picked up only their latest award … but she also gives us an up-close look at what her Lisbeth Salander will look like in the Dragon Tattoo film. Previously, Rooney did her best to keep this new look under wraps as she made herself at home in Stockholm, Sweden as she filmed the movie. I guess she is now ready (and able) to show off the look in public here in the US. I have to say, my love for the original Swedish version of Dragon Tattoo has me a bit worried about this US remake … but I trust David Fincher and I am really excited that Trent Reznor has signed on to score the film. But in all honesty, I do not see Lisbeth in these photos. I guess we’ll have to see if Rooney Mara has the acting chops to make me a believer.

Edward Furlong Busted!

Posted: 12 Jan 2011 09:43 AM PST

Last August we learned that troubled actor Edward Furlong (Terminator 2, The Green Hornet) was having some domestic problems with his estranged wife who alleges that Furlong assaulted her. As a result, Furlong‘s wife got a legal restraining order that barred him from getting close to her. Yesterday, Eddie Furlong was arrested for violating the terms of that restraining order.

Green Hornet actor Eddie Furlong was arrested Tuesday morning for allegedly violating a court order to stay at least 100 yards away from his estranged wife. Furlong, 33, who also starred in Terminator 2, was taken into custody while he was in court for a hearing on the restraining order obtained by Rachael Kneeland, according to a spokesman for the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office … In her court papers, Kneeland alleged that last Sept. 23, Furlong “grabbed me, bruised me, pushed me … left messages saying he would hire people to come and beat me with chains and bats. He is smoking cocaine and doing other various drugs. He is very unpredictable.” Furlong has denied the latest allegations. But a judge issued a three-year restraining order against the actor, along with ordering him to undergo counseling.

To clarify, the mugshot featured above is from Furlong‘s 2004 arrest after he tried to free an aquarium full of lobsters from a grocery store in Kentucky. The night before he was arrested yesterday, Eddie was in fine spirits at the LA premiere of The Green Hornet (which opens in theaters this Friday). As far as crimes go, this bust isn’t as terrible as something like a DUI but until Furlong can prove to a court (and his estranged wife) that he is not a threat, he is going to have to stay away from his wife or face further arrests. I sincerely hope that Eddie Furlong gets his life in order, it is always so sad to see child stars grow up to be adult criminals.

Natalie Portman Shows Off Her Baby Bump At The ‘No Strings Attached’ Premiere

Posted: 12 Jan 2011 09:14 AM PST

Last week we got our first look at newly engaged Natalie Portman‘s teeny weeny baby bump as well as her not so teeny diamond engagement ring. Today we get another look at Nat‘s emerging bump as she strutted her stuff on the red carpet in front of the Regency Village Theatre in Westwood, CA for the premiere of her new film No Strings Attached.

As you can see, Natalie‘s baby bump is still a pretty wee one … but her beautiful glow is unmistakable, she is a luminous mother-to-be. The less said about No Strings Attached the better so … let’s move on to her lovely, flowy dress. Methinks she will have a blast finding beautiful and flattering maternity wear to model on the various red carpets in her very near future. The smile on her face says it all … this is, surely, the highpoint of her personal and professional life. I just hope she is really enjoying every single second of it.

Britney Spears Will NOT Be Performing At The 2011 Grammy Awards

Posted: 12 Jan 2011 08:08 AM PST

In the wake of the stunning success of Britney Spears‘s just-released new single Hold It Against Me this week, a new rumor started to go around yesterday that claims that our dear Britney will be performing during the 2011 Grammy Awards next month. According to People magazine, Britney will NOT be performing at the show and her own people have issued a statement saying that any news not officially released by them is merely “rumor”. But, I have it on good authority that plans are in the works to get Britney to perform during the awards show so … who to believe?

Don’t hold it against her – but Britney Spears isn’t performing at this year’s Grammy Awards, her label tells PEOPLE. Contrary to reports online Tuesday, the pop star, 29, who just released her new single, “Hold It Against Me,” which already rose to No. 1 on iTunes charts, has no plans to sing live on the Feb. 13 telecast. Adds a source: “I really doubt it.” A full list of Grammy presenters and performers is expected to be announced in the coming weeks. The awards show will air live from L.A.’s Staples Center on CBS.

It is possible that these denials are true … for now. I have it on very good authority that the Grammy folks are working to make the Britney performance happen … so mebbe the deal isn’t set yet and, therefore, her record label can say that she is not performing knowing full well that she will once they get a deal in place. From what I’m hearing about plans for her performance, it would be an epic performance. But, again, without knowing anything official … it’s just more rumor in the wind. I would welcome any live awards show performance from our dear Britney … so I’m gonna keep my fingers and toes crossed that Britney will end up performing on the Grammy Awards next month. What do y’all think … will she or won’t she perform?

Meet Benjamin Preston-Travolta

Posted: 12 Jan 2011 07:49 AM PST

Back in November we learned the happy news that Kelly Preston and John Travolta welcomed the birth of a baby boy they named Benjamin. The news was especially hopeful in the wake of the sad death of the couple’s 16-year old son Jett who tragically passed away in January of 2009. Today we get to meet the newest Travolta as he is introduced to the world on the cover of this week’s issue of People magazine.

John Travolta and Kelly Preston had tried for another child for three years, so the surprise news last year that Preston was pregnant left them “completely blown away!” the actress tells PEOPLE in an exclusive interview. Now, less than two months after Preston, 48, delivered Benjamin on Nov. 23, the proud parents are showing off their little “miracle.” “He’s given the house a renewed spirit and purpose,” says Travolta, 56, who held Preston’s hand during labor as their 10-year-old daughter Ella Bleu waited excitedly outside the room with actress Kirstie Alley, a close family pal. These days, the Travolta home in Ocala, Fla., is filled with joy, lullabies from Dad (“A Bushel and a Peck,” from the musical Guys and Dolls, is a favorite), readings of Good Night, Gorilla and hugs from big sister Ella. Best moment for both parents so far? Benjamin’s first smile.

Nothing can ever fully repair the painful loss of a child but I’m sure the Preston-Travoltas are beside themselves with ecstatic glee that they have been blessed with a new baby to love and nurture. I wish the family a lifetime of happiness and health. They got themselves a cute little guy … here’s hoping the family will enjoy many, many, many years ahead of bliss and love! Congrats again to Kelly and John on the birth of Benjamin … he’s a doll, ain’t he?

Dr. Conrad Murray Will Go To Trial For The Involuntary Manslaughter Of Michael Jackson

Posted: 12 Jan 2011 07:23 AM PST

For the past week, a preliminary hearing took place here in LA to determine if there is enough evidence to warrant a full trial of Dr. Conrad Murray, who was charged last February with involuntary manslaughter in the death of Michael Jackson. After 6 days and 20 witnesses, Judge Michael Pastor ruled that more than enough evidence exists to send Conrad Murray to trial … and as a result, Murray‘s medical license has been suspended.

Dr. Conrad Murray was just ordered to stand trial in the death of Michael Jackson. Judge Michael Pastor ruled there is sufficient evidence to warrant a manslaughter trial. In his closing statement, Deputy District Attorney David Walgren told the judge, “It was not Michael Jackson’s time to go. Michael Jackson is not here today because of the negligence and reckless acts of Dr. Murray.” Walgren said Murray cared more about covering up evidence than helping MJ. Judge Pastor’s ruling follows a 6-day preliminary hearing in which more than 20 witnesses were called. If convicted Murray faces a maximum of 4 years in prison … Murray’s lawyer, Ed Chernoff, tells TMZ, “We are disappointed but not surprised. We knew we would be in trial and that’s where we’re going to end up.”

For the most part, there was no doubt in anyone’s mind that the preliminary hearing would result in a full trial ruling. There is no way that the former Dr. Murray — now just Conrad Murray — was going to avoid answering the charge of involuntary manslaughter in open court. We are just a few months away from the 2nd anniversary of the death of Michael Jackson and there are still so many who want justice for his death. The next phase, the actual trial, will determine if Conrad Murray is the one responsible for MJ‘s death. No surprises here, next up … the big trial.
