Jon Stewart laughs at Rick Sanchez’s claim that Jon is a “bigot”

Last Friday, CNN finally got around to firing their resident doofus, Rick Sanchez. Sanchez made a name for himself on CNN by saying really dumb sh-t, and for this now infamous, hilarious video of cops laughing at him while they taser him. Anyway, Rick was finally sh-tcanned because he totally went off on an anti-Semitic rant during a radio interview. He was being asked about Jon Stewart, and somehow that got Sanchez thinking about how Jews control the media (audio at Gawker here, I also put the full interview at the bottom):

CNN’s Rick Sanchez was fired Friday after telling an interviewer that ‘The Daily Show’ host Jon Stewart is a bigot and that “everybody that runs CNN is a lot like Stewart,” The New York Times reports. Sanchez, a daytime anchor on the network, was making an appearance on comedian Pete Dominick’s satellite radio show Thursday when he made the disparaging comments.

After calling Stewart a bigot, Sanchez, who is frequently mocked on ‘The Daily Show,’ continued his tirade. Even when Dominick pointed out that Stewart is Jewish and a minority too, Sanchez kept going, saying, “I’m telling you that everybody who runs CNN is a lot like Stewart, and a lot of people who run all the other networks are a lot like Stewart, and to imply that somehow they, the people in this country who are Jewish, are an oppressed minority? Yeah.”

Audio of the interview went viral immediately and it wasn’t long before the anchor was let go from the network. Late Friday, CNN released the following statement: “Rick Sanchez is no longer with the company. We thank Rick for his years of service and we wish him well.”

Sanchez appeared on Dominick’s radio show as part of a tour promoting his book, ‘Conventional Idiocy.’ He hasn’t responded to requests for comment about the interview or his dismissal.

Ugh. Well… at least CNN fired him, right? Of course, they should have done that a while ago. Anyway, last night Jon Stewart and many, many other celebrities took part in an autism charity event last night, and Jon managed to get in a few digs about Sanchez:

Jon Stewart stayed mum during the recent commotion over at CNN, where Rick Sanchez was fired this week (after a six-year career at the network) because of inflammatory — now infamous — remarks he made on a satellite radio program about Stewart’s ethnicity and upbringing.

However, at a fundraiser in New York City last night, the stand-up comic in Stewart couldn’t resist making a few cracks about the controversy.

Playing emcee for the taping of Comedy Central’s ‘Night of Too Many Stars’ (airing Oct. 21), the ‘Daily Show’ star entreated viewers to donate to the cause of autism education, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Then he qualified the request, joking: “If you went on radio and said the Jews control the media…you may want to hold on to your money.”

In a clear reference to Sanchez (and his caustic public comments saying that people who are Jewish wield power at TV networks), Stewart added, “All he has to do is apologize to us, and we’ll hire him back.”

The aptly titled ‘Too Many Stars’ benefit was indeed lousy with comedy’s biggest names, including appearances by Tina Fey, Chris Rock, Steve Carell, Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Fallon and Tracy Morgan.

David Letterman made a punchline out of the CNN brouhaha, too, telling the crowd he was in town just “helping Rick Sanchez clean out his office.”

And making an appearance at the performance, even wry, retired anchor Tom Brokaw reportedly ribbed Sanchez while onstage.

[From PopEater]

I like the second one - "All he has to do is apologize to us, and we’ll hire him back.” It's good that people are already making fun of Sanchez, because he totally deserves it, and laughing about it is better than having a “serious discussion” about anti-Semitism and the media. I just listened to the full interview excerpt (below), and this guy's stupidity knows no bounds. He thinks he doesn't have the career he wants because "guys like Stewart" keep him down - it's like he's never acknowledged that his own prissy martyr complex and unending stupidity is one of the big reasons he doesn't have the career he wants. Here's the interview:

Helen Mirren & Russell Brand are pretty much dating at this point

Come on! JUST DO IT. I so want Helen Mirren and Russell Brand to be a couple. I've been waiting for it ever since I realized that Brand and Mirren were working together on the remake of Arthur (she's playing his nanny in what was the John Gielgud role). They just seem like two strange and wonderful people that belong together. The only sadness that would come from their union would be the end of Helen's marriage to Taylor Hackford, whom she has been with for decades. But would any of us really weep if Russell left Katy Perry for Dame Helen? They just look genuinely happy with each other! And surprisingly sexy together, right?

I should also say this - Russell flew from London to New York City to be Helen's date. These are photos of the premiere of The Tempest, which Russell and Helen both have roles in (the film was directed by Julie Taymor). So, both Helen and Russell probably were required to be at the premiere of their film - but did they have to show up together and pose lovingly together? Of course not. Djimon Hounsou (who is in the film) didn’t come to the premiere. Helen and Russell showed up for each other - the first stage in what will make them an epic power couple.

Courtney Love is back to crack-tweeting sketchy photos of herself (SFW)

Over the past few weeks, we've seen a whole new Courtney Love. She's stepped out to several events looking really, really good. She's lost some weight, she looks "refreshed," there are no needle marks, her eyes don't look glassy and glazed, and she seems to have transplanted her old coke-face with a new, clean, almost lovely sober-face. Courtney, of course, claimed her very quick turnaround was the result of CHANTING. And yoga. Because chanting gives you a new face. Anyway, for those of us who thought Courtney had finally cleaned up her act - suckers. She's back to being crazy. She's started tweeting gross, naked photos of herself on Twitter. AGAIN.

By the way - Courtney allegedly quit Twitter. Months ago. But ever since she got her new face, she's been twit-pic'ing photos of herself - without comment or explanation. Go to her Twitter account and see - she's put up dozens of photos of herself. It's so strange. So… do we want to take bets on what drugs she's on these days?

Almost unrecognizable with a new hairdo and plastic surgery, the rarely red carpet ready, Courtney Love arrives late to the 'Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps' premiere at the Ziegfeld Theatre in New York City, NY on September 20, 2010. With a league of celebrities far from her norm in attendance this evening, one would wonder what the punk icon's motives are tonight? Fame Pictures, Inc

Shia LaBeouf picks another fight with poor Frankie Muniz

Did you know that Frankie Muniz and Shia LaBeouf had some kind of historical beef? Apparently, they knew each other back in day, when both were child stars in the early 2000s. To be fair to Muniz, the feud seems to be all in the mind of Shia, who has taken to comparing his career to Frankie's in interviews throughout the years. Just a few days ago, he name-dropped Muniz again… but I didn't even think the comment was that horrible. Taken with his previous comments, however, it looks like a bitch pattern:

Even when Shia LaBeouf has six number one movies in a row and a peaking career, he still likes putting down Frankie Muniz. When asked about his success on a radio program on Sept. 30 called ‘The Bert Show,’ LaBeouf opportunistically took a compliment and used it to tweak his longtime nemesis.

“While that’s flattering as hell, you could have put Frankie Muniz into any of the movies I’ve been in and it would’ve still been No.1,” the ‘Transformers’ actor snidely remarked.

The feud between the young actors began back in 2003 when Muniz was hitting his stride as the lead in ‘Malcolm and the Middle,’ and LaBeouf told EW about his feelings about the star child at the time.

“I used to see him at premieres and stuff and it would always be like he was looking down on me, and then it turned into we’re equal, and then it turned into ‘Oh Frankie, I know that guy,’” LaBeouf said in the interview.

The DJ then asked if LaBeouf was concerned that Muniz might hear this and come up to him at a party, and then it got nastier.

“I don’t go to many parties and I don’t really hang out in Frankie Muniz-type zones,” LaBeouf said.

[From PopEater]

So, obviously, Shia has Muniz issues. Frankie farted on his croissant or something. Or maybe Shia really, really wanted to be Cody Banks. Or maybe Frankie got the car Shia really wanted for himself. Whatever the issue, I do kind of agree that Shia's film success hasn't been all about him being a good actor, although I think Transformers would have been really different if it was Malcolm in the Middle rather than Shia.

Anyway, Muniz responded on his Twitter:

Poor Frankie. At one time, he was much cooler than Shia, but now it just seems like Shia (the cool one) is being cruel.

Jake Gyllenhaal’s big, bushy beard: totally adorable or not so sexy?

These are new photos of Jake Gyllenhaal promoting his new film, Love and Other Drugs, at the New York Film Festival over the weekend. He has a beard! And no, I'm not talking about a new girlfriend, apologies to Adam Levine. I don't even know who Jake is dating these days - it was that Isabel Lucas chick, but I haven't heard anything about them in a while, and Jake seems to be doing an undercover player thing. Question: Doesn't Jake seem like the kind of guy who would find his future wife on a blind date? Right?

Anyway, his beard. It's really bushy. I've seen Jake with facial hair before, but never this mountain-man kind of look. Do you like it? Or do you think that with his pretty face, he just needs to shave? I'm not hating on the beard, honestly. It makes Jake look more like a scruffy Jude Law, which is never a bad thing. It also makes him older, which he might be going for. F-ck, I love a beard, I really do. I don't think I've ever been hotter for Jake than right now.
