UPDATE: Mario's Arrest Linked To Mom's Drug Addiction

Posted: 03 Oct 2010 08:32 AM PDT

As we previously reported, this past Friday morning, singer Mario was arrested for assaulting his mother in her Baltimore home. We've got more details as to what really happened when you read on...

<!--break-->

Mario's lawyer has blamed Mario's mother's irrational behavior for "an unfortunate incident between a loving son and a mother who continues to struggle with a devastating addiction."

None of us are shocked this situation was related to the drug use in some way.

Mario was charged with second degree assault after police were called to Shawntia Hardaway's Baltimore apartment. She alerted the authorities that Mario, 24, was inside her apartment damaging property. According to police, Shawntia claims Mario started yelling at her and pushed her in her chest which caused minor pain. A broken china cabinet, mirror and busted door were also discovered at the scene.

"Anyone who has waged the battle to save loved ones from the forces of drugs knows the irrational behavior that almost always accompanies their actions," said Hassan Murphy, Mario's Baltimore attorney, on Saturday. "Despite the allegations, Mario remains committed to supporting his mother."

Sad. However, problems between Mario and his mother stem way back. In 2007, Mario's turbulent relationship with his heroin-addicted mother was filmed for a documentary called "I Won't Love You to Death: The Story of Mario and His Mom."

Mario took to Twitter this morning to thank his fans for all their support during this time.

Hopefully these family issues can be resolved. Having a drug addicted family member can bring out the worst in people who have really just had enough.

BLACK CARPET FAB: The 2010 BET Hip-Hop Awards

Posted: 03 Oct 2010 07:33 AM PDT

The BET Hip-Hop Awards 2010 was last night and we've got the black carpet pics.  Diggy Simmons, Souljah Boy, Toya Carter, Nelly and The St. Lunatics,  when you go inside....

<!--break-->

The show went down in Atlanta at the Civic Center.  Not everybody walked the black carpet, but here's who did:

Wassup Diggy?  LOVES this kid.

Musiq posed with Meelah, formerly of 702.  Did we miss their couple status?  I'd love a duet from them.

And host Mike Epps brought along his lovely wife to watch him do his thing.

And BET hostess Mo'nique hit the red carpet with husband Sidney Hicks.  I see the hair on those legs is still in full-effect too.  If they like it...

And her fellow BET co-worker Terrence J, host of "106 & Park" wasn't far behind.

And his hosting partner Rosci, looking great in her arrival photo.

The yummy Trey Songz even has a hot side profile.

Roc-a-who?  Fresh from his Twitter "feud" with Jay-Z, MC Hammer stepped out in his tight white hip-hop gear.

And the buff Sean Garrett rocked some interesting shoes on the carpet.

Do what you want with your own money but Gucci Mane....the blinged out camera?  I wonder if it works.

Now you would expect Birdman to have a blinged out something on but he looks surprisingly bling free.

Gorilla Zoe looked like he went to the awards and then planned to help them breakdown the stage and set.

Wale & Bun B did their arrival photo together.

Meanwhile, Big Boi brought along his mini-me.  Nice father/son photo.

Jazze Pha brought his new artist Reign out with him.

"Hide ya wife! Hide ya husband! Hide ya kids!"  Antoine Dodson said they taking pics of everybody out here!

Princess showed off her new makeover and classed it up a bit.  Nice.

Busta Rhymes took a break from the studio to attend the show.

Juelz Santana posed at the awards with a guest.

Toya Carter looked pretty and the hair is flawless.

Fresh from his presidential performance, B.O.B. attended the show.

Spring Bling host Porscha Coleman worked a multi-colored dress.

Young Money, minus Lil Wayne, Drake and Nicki hit the carpet together.

Lil Scrappy and his version of a smile posed on the carpet.

I think Diamond--formerly of Crime Mob and Scrappy's boo--is a pretty girl. But not sure about the hair coloring.  Doesn't flatter her skin tone.

Wonder why Soulja Boy didn't bring Kat Stacks?

Oh ok.  Lloyd is too cool for school in this pose.

Twista rocked a hot bomber jacket.  Nice vintage leather look.

The New Boyz came out looking preppy fab.  Nice.  Don't know why but I like them.

Roscoe Dash also rocked a starched hip-hop preppy look.  I so prefer this to pants saggin' all the way to the ankles.  Rappers take notice.

Waka Flocka Flame has been hitting the studio AND the Golden Corral.

Not sure why Eise Neal felt the need to make an appearance at this event.  Seems out of place for some reason.

This is an ok look for the "hip-hop" awards. Cuter than her usual video vixen looks have been. Lola Monroe matched a cute dress with combat boots.  Not a horrible idea.  But she should have polished them.

<!--break-->

Kanye brought out Pusha T with him to perform "Runaway".

And he performed "Power" as well earlier in the show--with his usual "visual art" feel. Peep how ixnayed his "SNL" diss and added a new verse. You feelin' it?

SPOILERS: Details From Inside The 2010 BET Hip Hop Awards

Posted: 02 Oct 2010 08:18 PM PDT

For those of you who aren't pressed enough to wait and watch the show in 10 days when it airs, we've got what went down at tonight's 2010 BET Hip Hop Awards.

The drama with Wacka Flocka, who won some awards, and who performed when you read on...

<!--break-->

As usual, much of Hip Hop's A-list stayed home or had paying gigs elsewhere (i.e. Drake).  But the usuals turned out to do...their usual.  Here's a quick run down of the highlights from tonight's show in ATL:

  • Diddy, surprise of the night M.C. Hammer, and Rick Ross opened the show with "BMF".
  • Antoine "You can run tell dat, HOMEBOY!" Dodson performed a musical version of his viral investigative report.  No, we're not joking.  Dude even walked the black carpet in his now famous red bandana.  His hair was pressed and laid though....
  • A reunited Dipset performed. Jim Jones, Juelz, and co. all hit the stage.
  • Swizzy hit the stage to perform "Gucci Time" with, of course, Gucci Mane.
  • Rev. Run, Diggy, and JoJo Simmons, and Ice Cube and his sons had a cypher on stage.
  • Lil Duval hosted the pre-show and and Mike Epps hosted the show.  Lots of clowning on rappers...and Kat Stacks...ensued.
  • Drake was a no-show as he's performing in D.C. tonight.
  • BET's own EVP Stephen Hill tweeted about how wack Wacka Flocka's performance was.  Apparently Wacka switched up his entire set without telling the BET folks and the two got into a war of twitter words:
  •

And can we say how wack it is that BET is surprised by this?

  • Salt-N-Pepa were honored for their accomplishments in this hip hop game over the years.
  • DJ Premier did Guru tribute and brought out Guru's son and nephew.  No Solar in sight.
  • Trey Songz had chicks falling out and losing their voices from screaming when he walked on stage to present an award with Trina.
  • A few winners of the night: Nicki Minaj--who accepted her award in a million different voices who were all in a conversation with themselves, Jay-Z, Drake, Diddy, Eminem, DJ Khaled, Swizz Beatz, and others.

Stay tuned for the black carpet pics....

WEEKEND CANDIDS: "Football Wife" Pilar Sanders, Halle, Brandy, & Others

Posted: 02 Oct 2010 12:24 PM PDT

One of the co-stars of the new VH1 show "Football Wives", Pilar Sanders, is getting a head start on publicity rounds.  The show debuts in a few weeks, and Deion Sanders' wife was spotted hitting the NYC streets for some street vendor shopping.

More pics of her, Halle Berry, Brandy, and more when you read on...

<!--break-->

After seeing how much of a spitfire she was on her and Deion Sanders' previous family reality show together, I have a feeling she's going to be the ish starter on the show.  On a side note, we're still rocking Juicy Couture velour tracksuits in 2010?  Oh.

Ms. Berry rolled into Poland yesteray looking chic and hot as usual.  She's been making her rounds overseas pushing her brand new fragrance:

Lovely.

Brandy's been practicing hard for "DWTS" this week:

She was spotted leaving rehearsals with her partner the other day.

And Martin Lawrence and comedian friend Flex were all spotted out and about last night:

They all hit BOA steakhouse in West Hollywood.  Fun times.

Posted: 02 Oct 2010 10:50 AM PDT

Last night YBF's fave teen stars hit the red carpet in Los Angeles for Teen Vogue's 8th Annual Young Hollywood party at Paramount Studios. Meanwhile, peeps came out the wood works to support the LA premiere of Vivica Fox's new play "Cheaper to Keep Her" at the Wiltern. See what the wind blew in opening night and pics of Keke Palmer, Raven Symone, Kyle and Christopher Massey at the Young HW party when you read on...

<!--break-->

Not sure what material this is, but Raven is working this dress.

I heart Keke. Chick always looks cute.

Bria Murphy got fancy for the event.  Spitting image of her mom.

Brotherly duo Christopher and Kyle Massey kicked it for the night.

Cute pose to end the night.

Good to see some YBF folks at the Teen Vogue event. Fun times.

Around the corner, Vivica Fox, Brian McKnight and some old, but familiar faces hung out red carpet style for the premiere of "Cheaper to Keep Her" in LA...

Vivica and Brian McKnight will be co- starring in the play.

Interesting look for Vivica.

Brothers Joe & Guy Torry came out from hiding.

Lisa Leslie and Viv hung out on the red carpet.

Shaft, I mean, Richard Roundtree is still the ladies man.

Keith David dropped by in this loud get-up.

Brian McKnight looked dapper.

Mari Marrow stopped through to see the show.

Tatyana Ali was glowing for the evening.

Vivica, her dress and Brian McKnight snapped a pic.

Gorgeous Lela Rochon was all smiles.

Cedric "The Entertainer" and wife Lorna showed support. I'll let you all figure out what is on her head.

Folks decided to get real "creative" with their ensembles for the event. Anyways, Congrats to Viv and Brian McKnight on the LA premiere.

Who's checking out the play?

Celebs Hit BET Hip Hop Awards Rehearsals & Parties

Posted: 02 Oct 2010 09:29 AM PDT

YBF hit the Atlanta Civic Center yesterday to catch Soulja Boy and others rehearse their performances for tonight's BET Hip Hop Awards taping.  We've got those flicks, plus flicks from the BET pre-parties when you read on...

<!--break-->

Wonder if he's gonna have Kat Stacks on his arm tonight.  He would be the one to do some dumb ish like that...

Wacka Flocka Flame and Roscoe Dash also hit the stage to practice their performance.  Does Wacka have a beer belly now?  Interesting.  The show tapes tonight at 5:00 PM ET, with the network premiere on Tuesday, October 12th at 8:00 p.m.

Elsewhere in Atlanta last night, folks hit the Belvedere Vodka and Interscope Geffen A&M Records "Evening of Luxury" event at Ventanas:

Keri Hilson and her killer shades hit the carpet with Flo Rida.

Cute look.  Chick loves her bra-revealing doesn't she?

Lloyd performed.

Terrence J. and Rocsi hit the carpet.

Rasheeda hit the event.

Is it just me or is there something different about D. Woods?  There's nothing different about Shanell's look though, unfortunately.

And over at another party:

Rocsi, Shanell, D.Woods, and Princess formerly of Crime Mob all kicked it.
