Watch: True Blood Season 4 Releases A Full-Length Promo Trailer

Posted: 31 May 2011 05:30 PM PDT

A couple of weeks ago, we got to check out a 30 second preview trailer for the upcoming 4th season of True Blood which will premiere on HBO next month. Today we get to check out the full-length minute-long trailer for TB season 4 which features more footage from the show, which gives us a good feel for what to expect when the show returns in just a few short weeks.

Even tho we got to watch the first 3 minutes of the new season yesterday, I think this minute-long trailer is much more exciting. I am really looking forward to getting back into the world of True Blood. It’s hard to believe it’s been about a year since the show was last on the air … but I’m so ready for more vamps, more wolves, more of EVERYTHING that True Blood has to offer.

First Look: Pixar Releases A Photo Of ‘Brave’ Heroine Princess Merida

Posted: 31 May 2011 04:30 PM PDT

Last March we learned that Disney/Pixar is planning the release of an animated film that will feature, for the first time, a female lead character. Back then, we got to see a few concept images from the film titled Brave. Today we get our first real look at that lead character as she will appear in the film … say hello to Pixar‘s first leading lady Princess Merida.

Here she is, in all her glory – the heroine of Pixar's first female-led narrative, the Scotland-set folktale, Brave. This is the Princess Merida, as voiced by Kelly MacDonald … If you recall, the film is going to officially come with two credited directors, Mark Andrews and Brenda Chapman, but it's worth noting that they worked on the film in series, not in parallel. Ms. Chapman left the film earlier this year, when Mr. Andres took up the baton. The first footage from Brave is to premiere in a teaser paired with Cars 2, out in the US on June 24th.

Aww … I love her! As I’ve said before, Cars is my least-favorite Pixar film and I’m assuming that Cars 2 will illicit the same reaction from me … but I might be cajoled into seeing the film if only to get my first real look at Princess Merida on the big screen. It’s about time that Pixar featured a lead female character. I think Princess Merida will make a fine heroine for the Disney/Pixar catalog of characters.

‘Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows – Part 2′ Releases A Severus Snape Poster

Posted: 31 May 2011 03:30 PM PDT

Earlier today we got our first look at the new Draco Malfoy poster released to promote the final Harry Potter film The Deathly Hallows – Part 2. As soon as I shared the poster, a few Pink reader were wondering when we might see the character poster for Severus Snape … and as if the folks at Warner Bros. were listening, the Snape poster was released. Check it out below.

Ah Snape … for so long, we were meant to hate this man. His horrible mistreatment of Harry Potter coupled with his seeming treachery made him the perfect, loathsome character to abhor … and then we found out what a true hero he was all along. JK Rowling is a masterful storyteller primarily because of the care she takes in developing her characters. Of all the Harry Potter characters, I think I honestly love Snape the most. Sure, it’s easy to love Harry, Hermione, Ron and a host of others … but to think of all the secrets Snape had to hide in order to serve the greater good … it’s difficult to not admire him. I was always very touched with the way the adult Harry Potter honored Snape in the prologue of the final book. This is a great poster, for a great Harry Potter hero.

Nicole ‘Snooki’ Polizzi Gets In A Car Accident, Wears A Neck Brace As A Result

Posted: 31 May 2011 02:30 PM PDT

Over the weekend, Nicole Snooki Polizzi got into a car accident while filming the upcoming 4th season of Jersey Shore in Florence, Italy. If you can believe it, Snooki actually crashed the car she was driving into an Italian police car! The day after the accident, Snooki was spotted wearing a neck brace … but, IMHO, it looks more like Snooki was wearing the brace for show rather than for medical purposes. Check out the photos and read the deets below.

Looks like Snooki has already encountered drama in Italy – but it has nothing to do with booze or boys. The Jersey Shore star was taken to a police station to fill out an accident report on Monday after she was involved in a fender bender with a patrol car in Florence, Italian police confirm to PEOPLE. Deena Nicole Cortese and a member of the show’s production team were also in the Fiat Multipla when Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, who was driving, crashed into the back of a traffic patrol car, sandwiching her vehicle between the highway wall and the police cruiser. No one was in serious condition, although a male and female police officer were taken to the emergency room of the local Careggi hospital to be treated for whiplash, bruises and cuts. Polizzi and Cortese refused medial treatment, police say. The irony? The police car Polizzi collided with was an escort appointed for their personal safety. Snooki and Cortese were taken into the central police station of Florence to file routine paperwork – not because they had been arrested, police say.

Now … Snooki started the day sans brace but while she was out and about — in front of the cameras — she decided to wear the brace. It seems to me that Snooki is using her fender bender to enjoy a bit more attention … cuz starring on a hit show clearly doesn’t afford her enough attention. In her favor, tho, the brace does work well with her outfit. At least she got a neck brace to match the color of her fugly fuzzy boots.

Movie Review: ‘Tree Of Life’

Posted: 31 May 2011 01:30 PM PDT

So … last night my friend Jordan asked me to accompany him to see the new Terrence Malick Film Tree of Life which stars Brad Pitt, Jessica Chastain and (briefly) Sean Penn. Some friends of mine, including David, saw the film and had mixed reactions to the film. Ever since I heard that Tree of Life was first booed at the Cannes Film Festival and then won the top prize, the Palm d’Or, I was immediately intrigued. Right off the bat I have to say the film is odd, it is NOT for everyone and yet, I still ended up liking it.

Okay … so … artsy. Tree of Life is artsy … really artsy, over-the-top artsy … complete with about 30 minutes of totally pointless nature scenes that are meant to convey (I’m guessing) the expanse of time in the grand scheme of the meaning of life. In all honesty, I really did not care for these indulgent scenes that really serve no purpose to the film’s story other than to put into context just how small one family’s life is in the scheme of the universe … as well as to put into context how meaningless the limitless expanse of the time and universe is to one small family that must endure loss. The actual story of the film isn’t told with any regular chronological plot. It’s made up of a series of scenes, many of them silent, that piece together a few months in one family’s life. There are 3 brothers … the eldest is seemingly the favorite son, the middle is the beloved artistic son and the youngest is practically invisible who is paid ZERO attention to thru the entire film. It’s hard to describe this film. It really seems like Malick made the film for himself, if you get it you get it, if you don’t you don’t. I dunno … I could have easily hated this overindulgent film but the more I thought about it, the more I liked it. I can’t say that it’s a film that I never need to see again … but it’s prolly the most unique film I’ve ever seen and I’m really glad I did get to see it. If there was ever a film that is so antithetical to The Hangover Part II (a film so simple in concept that you don’t have to spend a single thought trying to figure out what is going on), it would have to be Tree of Life (a film so complex that every thought you spend on it will still never have it make total sense to you). I’m very curious to hear what others who have seen this film think about it. Again, it’s not a film for everyone … but I enjoyed it much more than I thought I would. I think it’s deffo worth seeing.

A Quiet Day

Posted: 31 May 2011 12:36 PM PDT

Yesterday was a very nice, very relaxing, very quiet day … and it was just what I needed. Tamar and Rob invited us over to relax and do nothing at their place yesterday and we jumped at the chance to just … hang out. No one cooked, no one had to life a finger … it was glorious. The weather was perfect, the company was amazing … in short, it was the best Monday ever.

The only bit of work that we did was to walk half a block to Froyo Life for some AMAZING frozen yogurt … but believe me, it was worth the effort to walk instead of having the dessert delivered. The bulk of our day was spent laying around, talking, laughing and eating … not a bad day at all, I’d say. Late last night, I met up with my BFF Jordan and we went to see the Terrance Malick film Tree of Life (review to come). After all the running around I’ve been doing in teh past few weeks, I really needed the “day off”. The fact that David and I got to enjoy our quiet day with dear friends made the day even better.

No plans for tonight!! Thank you, Jebus. Happy Tuesday!

Screencaps From The Failed ‘Wonder Woman’ Pilot Make Their Way To The Internets

Posted: 31 May 2011 11:20 AM PDT

Earlier this month we learned the (good?) news that NBC decided to pass on and not air the David E. Kelley revamp of Wonder Woman but today we get our first look at the failed pilot that will likely never see the light of day. Screencaps and a detailed review of the unfinished pilot made their way to the Internets this weekend and they give us a pretty good feel of how the show might’ve turned out. As you can see in the photos below, the new WW costume actually turned out almost exactly like the original pantsless WW costume … but that still wasn’t enough to save the show.

David E. Kelley's Wonder Woman pilot has been the subject of public scrutiny pretty much ever since its inception. After considering the completed pilot, NBC decided to pass on picking up the show, and from the looks of it humanity was saved from yet another very bad TV series. All that being said, almost everyone wants to actually see this pilot in order to assess just how terrible it is. Well, it's apparently been making the rounds, and some stills from the pilot as well as a review have popped up. Hit the jump to check out the images, as well as some excerpts from the review. Wonder Woman starred Adrianne Palacki, Elizabeth Hurley and Cary Elwes. Someone at iFanboy (via our partners at Omelete) got their hands on the pilot and wrote up a full review. Apparently the actual pilot differed immensely from Kelley's original script that made the rounds earlier this year, at least by way of dialogue/details. Although it sounds like the overall plot stayed the same (Wonder Woman's been reimagined as a corporate executive) … While the reviewer noted that Elwes' performance was a bit over-the-top, and the use of television talking heads discussing Wonder Woman's influence on society came off as corny, he was quite satisfied with the pilot overall, especially after the script changes … Hopefully someday, we'll get the version of Wonder Woman fans have been waiting for. Until then, we can sleep well knowing that David E. Kelley's hands are off the property permanently.

You know, I’m not sure if I would’ve love this show — tweaked costume and better script or not — but I have to admit, I wish I could get the chance to watch the pilot for myself. And I’m not gonna lie, I love the sight of Adrianne Palicki wearing a more traditional Wonder Woman costume. No pants = AWESOME! That being said, Michael Ausiello from TVLine got to watch the pilot and this is what he had to say about what he saw:

WW Pilot Post Mortem: So bad it was… awful. Dull. Humorless. Confusing. NBC was right to euthanize it. Adrianne Palicki deserved better.

Meh. Still, I’d love to see it. Click below to see some of the screencaps from the failed Wonder Woman pilot … it may be the only look that we will ever get of David E. Kelley‘s vision of Wonder Woman.

Guy Ritchie & Jacqui Ainsley Show Off Their New Baby Bump

Posted: 31 May 2011 10:35 AM PDT

Last September we saw photos of Guy Ritchie and his new ladyfriend Jacqui Ainsley having a grand ol’ time with Guy‘s sons from his marriage to Madonna. Today we get to see new photos of Guy and Jacqui showing off their burgeoning baby bump as they enjoyed the relaxed holiday here in SoCal over the weekend. Pretty soon, Guy and Jacqui will have a baby of their own to play around with.

She's due in September, but Guy Ritchie can't seem to wait for his new son or daughter to be born by the looks of these pictures. The Snatch director placed his hand on girlfriend Jacqui Ainsley's stomach on a day out in Malibu, California. And the cute couple couldn't have looked happier as they cooed over their first unborn baby. The 29-year-old model looked stunning in a floor-length paisley dress, while Ritchie, 42, joined in on the pastel theme in a baby blue shirt. Guy and Jacqui were leaving a Memorial Day beach party yesterday … While Stateside, the couple also attended the Tree of Life premiere last week in Los Angeles, where Jacqui showed off her burgeoning bump in a gorgeous royal blue dress and matching heels. So far she seems to be the epitome of maternity chic and shows no signs of losing her style status throughout her pregnancy. Ritchie has been dating the former Lynx model for just over a year and announced her pregnancy in March. Their baby will be the half-brother or sister for Ritchie's two children Rocco, 10, and David, six, from his marriage to Madonna. The couple originally met in May 2009 at a friend's party and sparked up a romance last year after Guy took Jacqui for dinner at his Mayfair pub, the Punch Bowl.

Well now … Guy seems to be moving forward with his life now, doesn’t he? It looks like he is wasting no time building a new family with his new lady. While Maddy was keeping herself bizzy with younger toy boys (who are less likely to want to procreate), Guy found himself a lady ready to bring forth the fruit of her loins. You may recall that we heard a rumor earlier this month that Guy got circumcised at Madonna‘s religious request (while the couple were still married and practicing Kabbalah) but it appears that Guy has healed well and hasn’t lost his vigor for baby-making. Congrats to the happy couple … I can’t wait to see if Guy will have another boy or his first born daughter.

‘Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows – Part 2′ Releases A Draco Malfoy Poster

Posted: 31 May 2011 09:45 AM PDT

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 has released another character poster to promote the upcoming release of the FINAL FINAL FINAL Harry Potter film. As I guessed, a second villain character poster has been released after the Lord Voldemort poster was released last week. Click below to check out the just-released Draco Malfoy poster.

UGH … Draco Malfoy makes the perfect villain … cuz I really loathe the character — A LOT — but in the context of the way he was raised in the loathsome Malfoy family, his treachery makes total sense. I can’t even tell you how many times I wished I could be able to punch that sniveling little creep in the face myself … which means that JK Rowling did a great job writing his character. After the Voldemort poster was released, I was sure that other villain posters would come … now that Draco‘s poster has been released, I expect other posters — like Bellatrix LeStrange — will come next. The Harry Potter film franchise ends in just over a month … for good. I am so not ready to say goodbye.

Donald Sutherland Has Been Cast As President Snow In ‘The Hunger Games’

Posted: 31 May 2011 08:51 AM PDT

Early last week we learned the happy news that Lenny Kravitz has been cast in the role of Cinna in the upcoming film adaptation of The Hunger Games and today we learn that the absolutely fantastic actor Donald Sutherland has been cast in the film as the evil President Snow. Snow doesn’t have a huge role in the first book, The Hunger Games, but he does become a more substantial player in the next two books Catching Fire and Mockingjay. As a huge fan of Sutherland‘s work, I am very elated that he is playing the role of President Snow.

Lionsgate has set Donald Sutherland to play the role of President Snow in The Hunger Games, the trilogy that will be directed by Gary Ross based on the Suzanne Collins novels. Snow is the autocratic ruler of Panem who uses the violent Hunger Games as a way to maintain control Jennifer Lawrence plays heroine Katniss Everdeen. Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Toby Jones, Lenny Kravitz, Woody Harrelson, Stanley Tucci, Wes Bentley and Elizabeth Banks are also in the cast.

For me, the role of President Snow really had to be played by an actor that could be formidable yet look unassuming. I absolutely envisioned him with white hair and with a distinctive voice. Donald Sutherland is all of those things and more. IMHO, this is just another example of the inspired casting that has been done for this film series. With very few exceptions, I wholeheartedly agree with all the casting that has been done for this film. There are still other roles to be cast, especially for the second and third films, but I believe that all of the major casting is now complete for The Hunger Games. What do y’all think of Sutherland‘s casting? Do you not love it?

Maria Shriver Gets Her Hair Did

Posted: 31 May 2011 08:26 AM PDT

It’s been a couple of weeks since we learned that former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger fathered an illegitimate child with his housekeeper while he was still married to wife Maria Shriver and just last week we learned that Shriver has been meeting with a high profile divorce attorney to, presumably, move forward with divorce proceedings. Today we get to see a couple of new photos of Maria out and about here in SoCal lookin’ about as fab as can be as she emerged from a hair salon over the weekend.

I kinda love that Maria emerged from the salon, freshly coiffed and tossing her hair around as if it were just any other day. I can’t even begin to imagine what kind of Hell she must be gonig thru these days in the wake of her soon-to-be ex-husband’s horrible infidelity. Not only does she have to save face for herself but she also has to nurture and care for her children as they have to endure their father’s disgusting behavior. Sometimes, you just have to get your hair did to feel better about yourself. I honestly have no doubt that Maria Shriver will be OK in the long run. Let’s just hope she is able to weather the storm now that things are still raging hardcore.

Prince William & Kate Middleton Do ‘Vanity Fair’ Magazine

Posted: 31 May 2011 07:54 AM PDT

Prince William and Kate Middleton, the newly hitched Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, are featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of Vanity Fair magazine. This particular issue does not feature an interview with the young royals (that I’m aware of) but it does cover the couple’s royal wedding in April and their upcoming visit to the US this Summer. Mario Testino, who photographed the couple for their official engagement photos, provides a previously unseen photo of Wills and Kate for the magazine cover … which you can check out below.

Despite Will and Kate's new official titles—dude duke and duchess, respectively—Will made it clear at the wedding that he will continue to be addressed as Prince William, meaning Kate by default will be Princess Catherine, reports Vanity Fair writer Katie Nicholl. This may rattle some family hierarchies— the Countess of Wessex had wanted to be known as Princess Sophie, but had been forbidden by the Queen. The newest royal couple grace the July issue cover, with an exclusive cover by Mario Testino. The issue hits newsstands in New York and L.A. on Thursday, June 2, and nationally—in print and on the iPad—on Tuesday, June 7.

INTERESTING about Kate‘s title. It seems obvious to those of us not quite as familiar with British Royal protocol that if Wills remains a prince then his bride should become a princess. After all, the titles Duke and Duchess of Cambridge sound so old and stuffy. This royal stuff fascinates me, particularly because Wills and Kate are both so young. I am dying to read this full VF article, to be honest. I must say I am a bit underwhelmed by the coverphoto. When it was announced that the Royal couple would grace the cover of VF mag, I was expecting a new, more posed Testino photograph. Still … this is an issue that I gotta read. This Wills and Kate issue of Vanity Fair magazine hits newsstands next week. Will you be reading?
