American Idol Premiere Sucks Ratings Ballz! Beat By NCIS!!!

Posted: 17 Jan 2013 12:47 PM PST

Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey fighting judging America's undiscovered talent can't garner more viewers than a grey-haired dude who solves crimes?!

OUCH.

Last night's American Idol is apparently the lowest rated AI premiere EVER, with only 17.9 million 18-49 year-old viewers tuning in!

It seems that rather than watching Nicariah's tense back and forth and having one's ears violated by terrible singers, Tuesday's TV night viewers tuned into NCIS instead.

Boo! You guys are missing out! This panel has the chance to be the strongest its been since the original trio. You've got really knowledge, eloquent, fierce people keeping it real with these young people. There's some real promise here!

So please, maybe tune in tonight, help boost the readership... save the show from being cancelled!

What do U think of the season premiere, lovely readers?!

Sharon Osbourne's Beverly Hills Home Catches FIRE!

Posted: 17 Jan 2013 12:36 PM PST

Oh no Lady O.!!!

Sharon Osbourne awoke this morning not to warm sunlight peeking through her curtains, but to a warm fire blazing in her Beverly Hills home!

The Osbourne matriarch apparently fell asleep and left a candle burning which started a minor fire prompting the Beverly Hills Fire Department to show up around 4:45am!

After the scurry experience, Mrs. Osbourne shared:

"Please everybody always check all the candles lit in the house before going to bed. I didn't, and at 5am this morning I was met with 5 gorgeous men from the BH Fire Department as they put out the fire in my house."

Wait... is that supposed to be a warning or a tip on how to get handsome hunks into your home!

LOLz!

Obviously we kid as proper fire safety is incredibly important...

And thankfully, no significant damage occurred and no one was harmed in Sharon's mini-blaze!

John Mayer's Voice Makes Love To His Guitar LIVE For The FIRST TIME In 2 Years! WATCH HERE!

Posted: 17 Jan 2013 12:21 PM PST

We've seen John Mayer fingering his guitar strings recently when he accompanied Frank Ocean on Saturday Night Live...

But woe to the world, cause a nasty throat problem called Granuloma has prevented Mayer from singing live for almost two years!

UNTIL NOW.

During a benefit concert held in honor of those firefighters who fought the raging Pine Creek wildfire last summer in Montana -- a benefit that Mayer organized himself -- Katy Perry's latest lover treated the audience to a VERY special presentation...

Himself singing Speak For Me off of Born and Raised (above)!!!

And for having a nasty vocal chord problem, Johnny boy doesn't sound too bad!

SO glad to hear that seductive voice of yours, John...

No wonder you've been able to bag the likes of Katy Kat AND Taylor Swift!

The Madness Is Coming To An END On American Horror Story: Asylum! Get Your First Look - And SPOILERS - For The Season Finale HERE!

Posted: 17 Jan 2013 12:15 PM PST

It's been one shocking, frequently unexpected and sometimes-nauseating ride, but next week, the second season finale of American Horror Story: Asylum will FINALLY be upon us...and one thing is for certain: it's going to be WILD!

Ryan Murphy and the gang have been kicking the crazy into OVERDRIVE all season long, and while many character arcs and storylines have taken surprising turns and resolved themselves earlier than we would have anticipated, we still have quite a few questions that need answering, and the series creator recently opened up about what to expect for those left alive in our last trip to Briarcliff next week, titled "Madness Ends!"

He explains:

"This season was so dark which I loved but I felt it was important in the finale to give a sense of kindness and peace and resolve whenever possible along with some really scary things. So it's a very very satisfying finale. I think there's not a single stone unturned. All the questions are answered and more. The question I get asked the most is, "Who or what chopped off Adam Levine's arm?" We dedicate an entire cold opening to that."

And just so you can mentally and emotionally prepare yourselves:

"There's only one person left standing after the season finale."

Oh MAN! So many EMOTIONS! SO MANY!

And now that he mentions it, we've STILL been wondering about our poor Adam...and something tells us that regardless of our MANY theories about that whole nutso scenario, we STILL are going to be floored!

And since Jenna Dewan Tatum revealed that she still had one more appearance left on the series, perhaps there's MORE to the Lovers arc than any of us realized!

EEK! Guess we'll find out soon enough!

Ch-ch-check out the last, nightmarish promo (above) and find out MORE delicious, horrific details from Murphy about what's to come for Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, and Evan Peters, as well as hints for the theme of season three...AFTER THE JUMP!!!

This episode basically focuses on each of the three leads and then they come together at the very end. What inspired the format for this episode?

I think we just wanted to spend our time with resolving a lot of those stories. I think it was interesting because a lot of those people had never been together. We've never had Alma and Grace and Kit all together. I think the idea was just to spend a good chunk of time with them and see what that relationship was like which was very interesting with all the progressive, free-love, civil rights stuff so that was one thing.

The funny thing about the second act which is Jessica and Franny Conroy is I think at one point as we were spitballing season two before we landed on the asylum idea, we had actually talked about doing the second season in a prison but then Alcatraz came along and stole that idea. [laughs] It was never very definitive but I always liked that idea. I think an insane asylum for us was probably much more effective. I love the idea of showing Jude's descent. We wrote it and directed and shot it much like one of those '50s ladies in prison movies which I was always obsessed with. As a child I was obsessed with this movie called Caged which was like tough broads standing against Jimmy Cagney. I was really thrilled with Franny Conroy's brilliant lady gangster interpretation. She was so brilliant and I loved her henchwoman and I loved the whole idea that Jude thought that woman is death. And I love love the actress who plays the new ward of Briarcliff, Robin Bartlett, who's in one of my favorite Mike Nichols movies Heartburn.

All of that Lana stuff was really modeled after Truman Capote and his complete In Cold Blood fame grab. Lana has sorta become Truman Capote meets Jackie Susann. I thought it was just fascinating and moving and totally understandable that after all the horrors Lana took refuge and solace in fame and money and celebrity and glamour. I really understood that for her. Then I love how they all dovetailed.

It does sort of seem like Lana is a horrible person now.

Oh no! No! After what Lana went through, if she wants to throw on some lip gloss and go on f—ing Dick Cavett? No, I don't think she's horrible at all. I think she hardened up and I think lost her way, which we will find in the last episode to chilling results.

Is this basically leading up to a battle between old Lana and 48-year old Bloody Face?

Yes. It's sort of a Barbara Walters vs. Ted Bundy extravaganza in that finale. That is part of the finale, which is very unexpected, and there's a lot of other things. I think the finale is my favorite episode we've ever done. It was directed by Alfonso Gomez-Rejon and written by Tim Minear. I think it's even better than "I Am Anne Frank Part II", which was previously my favorite. The whole thing is done almost as a documentary with Lana current day looking back on her life and doing a 60 Minutes-esque [interview]. That plays with like 10 different time periods. It was a very ambitious script and a very ambitious shoot and Alfonso knocked it out of the park as did Tim.

The season finale is crazy good. Everyone who has seen it has cried and that includes me and network executives. It's very, very emotional and sad.

Is there like a battle between him and Lana? Are we talking wrestling match?

I don't want to give too much away. It's much more emotional than Grand Guignol. It's something that John Landgraf and I talked about at length before I wrote it. This season was so dark which I loved but I felt it was important in the finale to give a sense of kindness and peace and resolve whenever possible along with some really scary things. So it's a very very satisfying finale. I think there's not a single stone unturned. All the questions are answered and more. The question I get asked the most is, "Who or what chopped off Adam Levine's arm?" We dedicate an entire cold opening to that.

What will Kit's life be like now as a single father and with Alma and Grace dead?

Just wait. It's all explained in the last episode.

So Jude is full on crazy now?

Yes. She has lost it completely and I think she lost it because of the betrayals and I think based on all of our research all of those people in those institutions were given elephant sized, copious amounts of tranquilizers and downers to keep them docile. I think she's been put on so many of them that her brain is fried as you will in the next episode, the finale, which is so good.

That must have been fun to write Jude and Pepper being the star duo of Briarcliff.

I loved that. I love that it turns out it's all in her mind and Pepper's been dead. I love that last scene and I think Jessica just killed it in that scene as did Sarah and in that scene.

Will we see the Monsignor in the finale?

Oh yes.

Will we see how Dylan learned that his father is Bloody Face?

Yeah.

There's another big tease to season three in the finale?

Yes.

Is this one more obvious?

No. We [put clues] in the last four. We were lucky enough to know the arena we were going to be writing in. No one has completely gotten it. People have gotten some of it. I think after the last two people are gonna get it.

And there's one in tonight's episode, "Continuum," right?

There is one in tonight's.

Is the Angel of Death back in the finale?

Oh yeah. The question is, Who is she going to get?

Will there be more deaths in the season finale?

Oh yes. There's only one person left standing after the season finale [laughs].

You were nominated for 3 GLAAD awards today for AHS: Asylum, Glee, and The New Normal. That must be very rewarding.

Yeah, anytime you get recognized for your work it's great. I think that those three nominations are great simply because they all have really strong gay and lesbian characters in them. From where I started in my career with Popular in like the late '90s, it was hours and hours of discussions about whether or not I could have a character be gay or kiss. In a relatively short amount of time it's become a real non-issue. To me the victory of that is all of the network executives–and there are many of them on these 3 shows–have all been so supportive and never blinked an eye and always encouraged us to write what we wanted and never censored us. I think that was great. I remember when I first started going to the GLAAD awards when I was a young chickadee with big hair, people were just so grateful for any morsel they could get and the landscape is so broad. It's a really interesting mark of progression.

Dear Mourning,

We have sad news to report.

Pauline Phillips, the Dear Abby creator, who was also known as Abigail Van Buren, has sadly passed away at the age of 94.

Ms. Phillips had been battling Alzheimer's for several years now, and since then, her daughter Jeanne Phillips has taken over the advice column and confirmed the news with the following statement:

"I have lost my mother, my mentor and my best friend. My mother leaves very big high heels to fill with a legacy of compassion, commitment and positive social change. I will honor her memory every day by continuing this legacy."

She certainly will leave a legacy of proper manners, common sense, and just all-around good advice. She will be greatly missed!

Josh Hutcherson Is Dating Sophia Bush?!

Posted: 17 Jan 2013 11:37 AM PST

Who wouldn't want to be with sweet, sensitive Peeta Mellark?

Ever since Josh Hutcherson starred in the first installment of The Hunger Games he has used his newfound popularity to rake in some very lovely Hollywood ladies.

First he made Chloe Bridges hair blow in the wind, then he partied it up with Selena Gomez, and now...tropical getaways with Sophia Bush?!

The tribute hottie has reportedly fallen so madly in love with Sophia that he flew her out to Hawaii to spend time with him while he films The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

The new couple were even spotted looking lovey dovey at a Honolulu supermarket.

An eyewitness said:

"They bought a bottle of liquor, and he had his arm around her. She looked thrilled."

Um yeah, we'd be thrilled too!

Who wouldn't want to be in those strong, nurturing arms?!?!

SOPHIA. THAT'S WHO.

Her rep is already denying the allegations originally made by Star.

The rep said:

" It's NOT true. They've been friends for years. There was a group of 8 people [in Hawaii]."

Oh poo.

That was over faster than Katniss caught on fire.

So maybe there is a new boytoy for Selena on the horizon afterall?! Or maybe Chloe has a tight enough grip on her man that he ain't going nowhere?! We soon shall see!

Jamie Lynn Spears Is Marriage-Bound And Ready To Kick Off Her Country Music Career!

Posted: 17 Jan 2013 11:25 AM PST

Looks like Britney isn't the only one in the family who's making new music!

BritBrit's younger sister Jamie Lynn Spears is reportedly splitting her time between her older sister's mansion in Kentwood, Louisiana and Nashville, where she's been steadily working on kicking off a country music career.

But, her fiancé Jamie Watson doesn't sound nearly as supportive of his country bride as he should be.

When asked about how far along she's gotten in her music-writing, Jamie responded with:

"I asked her the other night what the hell is taking so long. But she's really particular about her stuff. She's trying to do it right because she knows people will be watching."

Err, uh, at least he's keeping her on her toes???

Maybe she's taking so long to finish her record because she's got a wedding to plan also! Yep, that's right, Little Miss Jamie Lynn will finally be walking down the aisle in what we can only imagine will be a country-tastic wedding! And since Britney is now single and ready to mingle, she'll most likely be attending the nuptials solo where we can only hope she finally meets a nice young southern boy who'll treat her right!
