Nicole ‘Snooki’ Polizzi Rehearses Her New Year’s Eve Ball Drop

As the final hours of 2010 slowly slip away there is one thing that we can be sure of … Nicole Snooki Polizzi is ready for her midnight ball drop tonight. Snooki rehearsed the big event in Seaside Heights, NJ last night so that every detail could be worked out before she does the real ball drop tonight. And you thought hamsters had all the fun.

With her chubby cheeks and penchant for leopard print there is something rather animal-like about Snooki. So how fitting that the Jersey Shore star chose to welcome in 2011 ‘like a fricken’ hamster’ inside a giant ball. The pint-sized reality star clutched one of her favourite beers as she was lowered into a crowd in New Jersey. Despite her furry coat Snooki – real name Nicole Polizzi – looked to be shivering, perhaps feeling the effects of the snow still heaped on the ground. The 23-year-old was originally due to perform her stunt as part of the official New Years Eve celebrations in Times Square. But a delay in applying, along with some objections, meant the permit was rejected … Luckily Seaside Heights stepped in to host the celebration. Snooki tweeted to her fans: ‘Don’t worry, I’m still gonna be your fricken’ NYE hamster in a ball.’

Now THIS is a classy way to welcome the new year, don’t you think? Despite the obvs cheesiness, I do admit that this Snooki Ball Drop looks kinda fun. I’m glad the event was moved from NYC to NJ because, in all honesty, no other place on Earth is better suited for a spectacle like this. Nothing says Happy New Year like Snooki in a big plastic ball! Bring on 2011, already! Happy New Year!!

Christina Aguilera Introduces Her Son Max Liron To Boyfriend Matt Rutler

Things have taken a turn for the serious in the burgeoning romantic relationship between Christina Aguilera and her new boyfriend Matthew Rutler. As you may recall, the couple spent most of December traversing the globe together on a promo tour for Xtina‘s new film Burlesque. But this week, Xtina and Matt were spotted spending quality time with Xtina‘s young son Max Liron, lookin’ very much like a happy family. Things must be seriously serious, y’all.

After filing for divorce from her husband earlier this year, she has been adjusting to life as a single mum. But that might not be for too much longer as Christina Aguilera has introduced her new to man to her son Max, which could suggest things are getting serious for the new couple. The 30-year-old Burlesque star enjoyed a day out with her two favourite boys, her two-year-old son Max and new boyfriend Matthew Rutler. The group enjoyed some quality family time together at The Petersen Automotive Museum yesterday. In fact Matthew and Max seemed to hit it off as the group smiled and joked as they made their way home. Christina ditched her trademark raunchy outfits for a comfortable puffa jacket, a skull and cross print tee, black jeans and studded biker boots, topped off with a black and white peaked cap. She also appeared to have abandoned her characteristic heavy make-up even ditching her signature bright red lipstick, opting instead for a cosmetics-free look.

If Xtina is feeling close enough to Matt to let him spend time with her son, then she must really be in it for the long haul … at least, I hope she is. I’m sure it’s always a tricky matter for divorced couples to find the right way to introduce new love interests to their children … especially as young as little Max. Now that Xtina has introduced her new boyfriend to her son, I think we can be sure that she is seriously planning a real relationship with Matt. What do y’all think … is it too soon for Xtina to be bringing new men into her young son’s life when she isn’t even divorced from her husband yet?

Goodbye, 2010

Despite plans to the contrary, I was NOT able to make my way down to San Diego, CA last night to see the amazing Dresden Dolls live in concert. Without going into the details that will likely enrage me again, I ran into a bit of car trouble last night and ended up staying here in LA instead. While I was very bummed that I missed the show, David went out of his way to cheer me up and make me feel better. And, boy, am I ready to say Goodbye to 2010.


For the most part, 2010 was a pretty OK year … there were a lot of good times and many bad times … but any year that you can enjoy from beginning to end is a good one in my book. As always, I’m thankful that I got to spend another year with David. We are going on 5 years together and we have never been better. I’m really looking forward to what 2011 has in store for us as a couple. I’m thankful that I got to spend time with my family & friends here in LA and back home in Detroit and I’m looking forward to more happy times ahead. I’m thankful that I got to spend another year writing this blog and I’m ready to make it bigger and better in the year to come. To be honest tho, I’m just ready to turn the page and jump feet first into a hopeful new year. I hope 2010 was a good one for you and that 2011 will be the BEST YEAR ever!

Nintendo Warns That Their New Video Game System May Be Hazardous To Your Health

Video game fans are anxiously awaiting the release of the new hand-held gaming system from Nintendo — the Nintendo 3DS — but the company wants you to be aware of something before you decide to buy and then play with the game. According to an official statement from Nintendo, young children who play with the Nintendo 3DS may seriously injure their eyes and permanently damage their eyesight.

Nintendo is warning young children against playing 3-D video games on its upcoming handheld gaming system, the Nintendo 3DS. Kids younger than 6 who play the 3-D games may have the growth of their eyes stunted, the company said in a statement on its Japanese website. The warning notes that parents can turn off the 3-D functionality of the handheld 3DS. They can also set passwords that keep kids from using that feature. The statement also asks everyone who plays the 3-D gaming system to take periodic breaks from the games as often as every hour or 30 minutes. The warning follows many others on the potential health effects of three-dimensional entertainment. TV makers have issued warnings about young people, pregnant women and even drunk people viewing 3-D TV, noting that the medium may cause nausea, dizziness and seizures. In one such warning, Samsung said those risks are heightened in kids. Nintendo has largely gotten favorable reviews for the 3DS system, which lets players see games in three dimensions without wearing the clunky glasses that are required for most 3-D television and movie displays … The $300 device is scheduled to hit stores in Japan in February and then in the United States in March.

Hmmm … this is interesting. I suppose we will now wait for the first report of a child who damaged their eyes by playing with the Nintendo 3DS. As strange as this all may sound, Nintendo is very smart to release this statement in order to get it out of the way as soon as possible. It is widely believed that the Nintendo 3DS will be a big seller in 2011 (I personally cannot wait to get one) and even with this warning in place, the gaming system is bound to be a huge success. Mr. & Mrs. Madden Grab Lunch With Sparrow James Midnight

Earlier this week we got to see the first photos of newlyweds Nicole Richie and Joel Madden out and about in public together for the first time since they were married here in SoCal earlier this month. Today we get to see new photos of the couple out in the wild … but this time they were joined by their son Sparrow James Midnight and Joel‘s twin brother Benji Madden.


The fam enjoyed a nice lunch together at a restaurant here in LA and quickly made their exit out the back door when they were finished. It appears that life for the Richie-Maddens has gotten back to normal. With a whole new year on the horizon, I expect this family is really looking forward to ringing in 2011 together. Let’s wish them all the love in the world in the coming new year and beyond.

Hugh Hefner’s Fiancée Shows Off Her Engagement Ring

Last weekend we learned the happy news that 84 year old Hugh Hefner got engaged to his 24 year old girlfriend Crystal Harris and today we get to see the ring! Crystal shared a photo of her new rock on her official Twitter profile, right around the time that Hugh confirmed to E! News that he is making his bride-to-be sign a pre-nuptial agreement before the couple says their I Dos.

Oh yeah, that’s a damn nice ring. I know she will love it forever … especially since it’s one of the things she’ll get to keep should the couple’s marriage not last. Hugh Hefner confirmed that there will be a pre-nup in place before the couple get married next year:

Hefner proposed on Christmas Eve with a diamond ring tucked inside a Little Mermaid music box. “She burst into tears,” he said. “It was a very lovely, romantic moment.” As the 24-year-old Harris first told me this morning, they’re planning for a summer wedding at the Playboy Mansion. Hefner’s younger brother, Keith (he turns 82 on Jan. 5), will likely serve as best man. And yes, Hef said, “I expect a prenup will be in the picture.”

Aww … the Little Mermaid music box is cute … the ring is phat … and Hef is smart to cover his buns with a pre-nup. Here’s to a long and happy marriage for Hugh and Crystal.

First Look: Alyson Hannigan & Kristen Wiig On ‘The Simpsons’

Buffy the Vampire Slayer alum and How I Met Your Mother star Alyson Hannigan will guest star in animated form on an upcoming episode of The Simpsons and today we get our first look at Aly‘s Simpsons character. Guest starring with Saturday Night Live castmember Kristen Wiig, Aly will appear on the first new episode of The Simpsons in January.

When THE SIMPSONS returns with its first new episode of 2011 on January 16, it's about to get a helluva lot better for the citizens of Springfield. Not only do Kristen Wiig and Alyson Hannigan drop by as a mother daughter duo that sweeps Principal Skinner, and to a lesser extent, Bart off of their feet. But Smithers (alongside Grady, voiced by special guest star Scott Thompson) will give Moe a much-needed lesson in acceptance when they help transform his dingy pub into "Mo's," Springfield's new local gay hangout.

Yay!! This sounds like a fun and very funny ep. As much as I’m gonna LOVE seeing Alyson and Kristen as Simpsons characters, I’m really looking forward to the Smithers storyline. Turning Moe’s Tavern into a gay bar called Mo’s is GENIUS!! This ep of The Simpsons is not to be missed … I can’t wait!!

Jive Records Confirms The Release Of Britney Spears’s New Single? [UPDATE]

On Wednesday we learned the EXCITING news, from Entertainment Weekly magazine, that our dear Britney Spears will be releasing the first single from her new album (due out in March) next Friday January, 7. But because so much incorrect information has been going around regarding Britney‘s new album, many people are choosing not to believe that report. Last night, Jive Records (Britney‘s record label) seemingly confirmed the news on their official Twitter profile … which, in my mind, makes it very official.


It should be noted that this is the official Twitter profile for Jive Records in France and they are pointing to a report from Billboard magazine … but it seems pretty clear to me that that Hold It Against Me, Britney‘s new single, will drop next week for sure :D

It turns out that music producer Dr. Luke, who is co-producing Britney‘s new album with Max Martin, has declared that the lyrics to Hold It Against Me that we read last week are in fact fake … so we still don’t know anything really about the track. Here is video of Dr. Luke talking to Billboard magazine about his involvement on Britney‘s album:


Yeah, no new information here … but as we draw nearer to the album’s release, we’re bound to get more solid info. There is a new rumor that the title of Britney‘s album will contain the word “LOVE” in it … which makes sense if you consider that Britney tweeted that she is in L-O-V-E with her new album. I’m so exited to hear anything … just bring it on already. I cannot wait for January 7.

UPDATE: Britney‘s manager, Adam Leber, just posted a message on his official Twitter profile that is shedding doubt on all of the information regarding the release of Britney‘s new single … he tweets:

Lot of misinformation out there regarding the release of Brits 1st single. Don’t believe everything you read…. / Unless of course it’s an official announcement coming in January. STAY TUNED….. / That said, the single is DEFINITELY coming in January. PS- happy new years people

UGH … so there you have it. All of that excited anticipation has now been muted by this. To be honest, I find it extremely irritating that there needs to be this kind of back and forth bullshizz. Will the single drop next week? Blah! It better!!
