Willow Smith Does ‘Vanity Fair’ Magazine

Posted: 15 Jan 2011 01:15 PM PST

Willow Smith, the little minx who dropped some fierce beats on us last October with her debut single Whip My Hair, is featured in the new issue of Vanity Fair magazine (the issue with Justin Bieber on the cover). You may be surprised to learn that Willow does NOT whip her hair in her VF photoshoot … but she does do a lot of jumping/posing.

'I whip my hair back and forth / I whip my hair back and forth / Just whip it!" So sings 10-year-old Willow Camille Smith, the youngest member of the latest First Family of Hollywood; her parents are Will and Jada, and her brother is Jaden (The Karate Kid). Her music video dropped on YouTube in October and had 600,000 hits the first day. At this point, the video has racked up more than 24 million views. "I like the beat. I like the concept of 'whip your hair back and forth.' It was just fun," says Willow. Produced by Ronald "Jukebox" Jackson and directed by Ray Kay (who did Lady Gaga's "Poker Face" and Justin Bieber's "Baby"), the video has already been given a send-up by Bruce Springsteen on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Next month she will join Justin Bieber in Europe on his world tour. Smith started her career in 2007 with a small part as the daughter of her real-life father, in I Am Legend, and followed that with a supporting role in 2008's Kit Kittredge: An American Girl, alongside Abigail Breslin. She recently signed with Jay-Z's record label Roc Nation and is working on an album due to be released in March. "It is very cool, because Jay really welcomes me and makes me feel like the record label is a place where I can have fun and talk about my career. He and his people make me feel like I'm a part of something. And I love Beyoncé—she's awesome!" Here's a further important fact about the youngest Smith: "I like eating pepperoni. I heat it up in the microwave and then I let it roast and then I eat it with cheese."

As you may recall, Willow was previously featured in an issue of W magazine last year so it’s not at all surprising that she scored a feature in Vanity Fair. I think it’s only a matter of time before she scores her own cover. Here is video from Willow‘s VF photoshoot, try not to melt from all the cuteness:

Baby Fierce is fierce, y’all. You betta Recognize.

An Evening With Jared Leto

Posted: 15 Jan 2011 01:00 PM PST

Last night my friend Jen and I trekked our way East to the sleepy hamlet of Pomona, CA to see Jared Leto in concert. Yes, the rest of his band 30 Seconds to Mars was there as well but to be honest, there wasn’t much spotlight on them at all … in fact, the stage lighting was so dark, it was difficult to see that anyone else was on stage except for rockstar Leto … but, to be honest, that was perfectly fine by us.

As I understand it, faithful 30StM fans (known as the Echelon) were lined up for entry into the venue HOURS before the doors opened so Jen and I had no chance of getting anywhere near the stage … so we made our selves very comfortable up in the balcony on the comfy couches they have up there. Altho I had seen 30StM in concert more times then Jen, she deffo won the fan award by knowing more of their songs (and loudly singing along with them). Jared owned the stage and he seemed to revel in the love that he was getting from his rabid fans. We had a blast, it was a fun show and I couldn’t have had a better time with anyone else.

It is sunny and 80 degrees here in LA today so David and I are going to get out of the house to enjoy it. Tonight, a bunch of us are going to Cherry Pop to dance our asses off. It’s Summertime in January, y’all … Happy Weekend!!

Robert Pattinson & Reese Witherspoon Back On The Set Of ‘Water For Elephants’

Posted: 15 Jan 2011 12:05 PM PST

When last we saw photos here on the blog of Robert Pattinson on the SoCal set of his upcoming new film Water For Elephants, it was July and he was running around with a cute little dog. Since that time, the first movie trailer for the film was released and the movie looked on track for release. BUT, a few scenes for the flick had to be reshot so R. Pattz and his co-star Reese Witherspoon had to get their buns back to the set to do the reshoots.

Now, it’s not unusual for a film to order reshoots but it does seem a bother for the actors to have to return to a set that they left months ago and get back into character again. I’ve heard conflicting opinions from Pink readers about the novel Water For Elephants so I think I’m just gonna hold off and wait ’til the film gets released and see the movie. I just hope these reshoots make the film better and are not a sign that the movie is in trubs.

Mario Lopez Makes A Cute Mr. Mom

Posted: 15 Jan 2011 11:06 AM PST

Back in September we learned that Mario Lopez and his Broadway babymama Courtney Mazza welcomed the birth of their first child Gia Francesca Lopez. Today we get to see a couple of super ADORABLE photos of Mario taking care of his baby girl in between takes on the set of his Extra! TV show yesterday afternoon.

Now I’m not sure if Mario makes it habit of bringing his daughter to work with him on a daily basis or if this was just a one-time thing but, as you can see, he is very good with the feeding. After he spent some time with Gia he got right back to work on his show and filmed an interview segment with Morena Baccarin from V:

Awww … don’t you love how Mr. Mom is also a Working Mom, too? It’s kinda funny to see AC Slater takin’ care of a baby … but it’s also entirely adorable as well. I really hope little Gia got Daddy Mario‘s dimples cuz, yeah, those things need to be passed on ;)

Alicia Silverstone Shows Off Her Baby Bump

Posted: 15 Jan 2011 10:18 AM PST

Yesterday we learned the joyous news that Clueless actress Alicia Silverstone and her husband Christopher Jarecki are pregs with their first child and today we get to see photos of Alicia showing off her burgeoning baby bump. Pink reader Kinder gave me the head’s up that Alicia recently posted a video on her official blog that was filmed back in November and it looks like she was starting to show her bump even back then.

Okay, yes her hoodie is bumping out way more than her tiny stomach requires but Kinder is right, Alicia deffo looks pregs in this video. This week Alicia ventured out onto the streets of SoCal and deffo showed off her tiny bump … lookin’ as cute as can be:

I serious love her … I am so happy for her. She will make the cutest mom, for reals. Here is a quick look at Alicia‘s Thanksgiving video so that you can see her in action back in November:

Whether or not she was truly bumping out in this video, Alicia will (gods willing) DEFFO be a new mom by Thanksgiving this year. I can’t wait!!

The 2011 Critics’ Choice Awards Are Handed Out

Posted: 15 Jan 2011 09:49 AM PST

And so it begins … the first serious awards show of the new Awards Season took place last night as The BFCA Critics’ Choice Movie Awards were handed out at the Hollywood Palladium in Hollywood, CA. Considered a good determiner of how the Academy Awards may turn out, the Critics’ Choice Awards tend to award the big prizes to the actors and films that will go on to win Oscars later on. The Social Network was the big winner of the night including Best Film, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Score and more!

Facebook film “The Social Network” became a big friend of broadcast critics on Friday when it won several top Critics’ Choice Awards, including best film, in the race toward Hollywood’s Oscars. The movie, which traces the history of the popular website from its founding in a college dormitory to its first million users, also earned a best director trophy for David Fincher and adapted screenplay for writer Aaron Sorkin, among others. Fincher was not on hand to accept his award, but in claiming his trophy, Sorkin made a point of mentioning Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, who had not cooperated with the making of the fictional film. On stage, Sorkin called Zuckerberg “an extraordinary leader” and “altruistic” and said, “we all owe you a debt of gratitude” for creating the website that has become ingrained in much of society. Colin Firth was named best actor for his role as stammering King George VI who must prove to the United Kingdom that he can be a leader in the dark days ahead of the World War Two in “The King’s Speech,” which also claimed best original screenplay … Natalie Portman, who recently revealed she was pregnant and engaged to be married, took home the trophy for best actress portraying a young ballerina who grows into a mature woman and a dancer in drama “The Black Swan.” “I feel great,” Portman told reporters about her pregnancy “It’s been really calm and good.” The night’s other big winner was boxing drama “The Fighter,” which earned awards for best ensemble performance for its cast, best supporting actress for Melissa Leo as a headstrong mother, and supporting actor for Christian Bale playing a boxer whose career is ruined by drugs. The Critics Choice honors are given out by the Broadcast Film Critics Association, which includes some 250 TV, radio and online critics and is the largest group of film and TV reviewers in the United States and Canada. Its awards come only two days before the Hollywood Foreign Press Association hands out Golden Globe trophies, and both events come a little more than a week before nominations for Oscars are handed out on January 25. Taken as a whole, critics awards often provide hints about which films, actors, actresses and others will compete for Oscars when they are given out by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, this year on February 27.

Yay!! This is great news!! This is the first really big win for The Social Network … and it could very well be a sign of things to come. I was most thrilled by the fact that Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross won the Critics’ Choice Award for Best Score. I have no doubt that this is only the first of many awards to come for their work on The Social Network score. Here are some photos from the press room last night of some of the happy winners and their club-like crystal trophies:

Emma Stone looks stunning, I love that she won an award for her work on Easy A … and how cute is True Grit‘s Hailee Steinfeld? This is *just* the beginning for her … LOVE IT!! Click HERE for a full run down of who won what last night. Next up, the Golden Globe Awards tomorrow night … then the Oscar noms come out on the 25th. Awards Season is **officially** underway … let the games commence!!

Sarah Michelle Gellar Is Returning To TV

Posted: 15 Jan 2011 08:49 AM PST

Holy Moly!! Here’s news that I had LONG given up on ever hearing … Deadline is reporting that Sarah Michelle Gellar has signed on to make her long-awaited return to network television next Fall in a series titled The Ringer. The last time SMG was on TV, she was playing lead character Buffy Summers on the long-running Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Since she left that show, she’s made a few (bad) movies and was supposed to return to TV back in 2009 in an HBO series titled The Wonderful Maladys … but that show never aired. Now, at long last, SMG will be gracing our TV sets again. Woot!!

Sarah Michelle Gellar is returning to broadcast series TV with a pilot at CBS. In its first drama pilot pickup this season, CBS has greenlighted Ringer, which is toplined by the former Buffy the Vampire Slayer star. The project hails from ABC Studios, CBS TV Studios and Brillstein Entertainment Partners … Ringer, written on spec by Supernatural writer-producers Eric Charmelo & Nicole Snyder, centers on a troubled young woman (Gellar) who, while on the run from the mob, hides out by inhabiting the life of her wealthy twin sister, until she learns that her twin's life has a bounty on it as well … Geller … has been heavily pursued by the broadcast networks since the end of Buffy in 2003. Her only TV gig since then had been the HBO pilot The Wonderful Maladys.

This is AMAZINGLY fantastic news!! I have always believed that SMG works best on TV and I am VERY excited that she is making her return. To be honest, I can’t even think of a move that SMG made that I remotely liked. She was fun in Scream 2 but she didn’t really last long in that film. Her worst film, hands down, is Scooby Doo … but there are a lot of other stinkers in the mix as well. Based just on this short description, The Ringer does sound inventive and interesting. Again, this is happy and VERY welcome news. I can’t wait to hear and hopefully see more about this new project soon :) Yay!! Buffy, er, SMG is returning to TV!!!
