Watch: A Message From ‘Dexter’

Posted: 16 Jun 2011 04:00 PM PDT

Last month Showtime released a very early teaser promo for the upcoming 6th season of Dexter which used sound clips from the previous 5 seasons of the show. Today we get to check out a second promo for the show that features an all new voice over by Dexter star Michael C. Hall. In this clip, Dexter makes it clear that he is “renewed, recharged, refocused”. Check it out in full below.

Now this is a great promo. Simple, to the point … and kinda creepy … just like Dexter Morgan himself. I am really looking forward to the new season of the show. Woot!!

‘Green Lantern’ Premieres In LA

Posted: 16 Jun 2011 03:00 PM PDT

Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively were joined by their co-stars as well as friends and family at the Hollywood premiere of their new film Green Lantern, which opens in theaters tomorrow. Grauman’s Chinese Theater was the site of last night’s affair and the red black carpet was packed with lots of GL fans. Unfortch, tho, as the release date gets closer, more and more less than favorable reviews keep coming out for the film … which kinda sucks cuz I really want this movie to be awesome. Click below to check out some photos from last night’s premiere before you (possibly) check out Green Lantern in the theaters tomorrow.

It looks like last night’s shindig was pretty cool but … what about the movie? I’ve generally been staying away from anything spoilerish but I have been seeing headlines for reviews that make it clear that GL may not be very good at all. I don’t always agree with EW‘s movie ratings but a C+ is pretty low, IMHO. I’ve been a Green Lantern fan for EVER so I’ll be bummed if the movie sucks. My fear has always been that a movie that relies too heavily on CGI might not turn out well at all. Too much focus on FX tends to take away from things like acting … and writing. Still, I’ll be seeing GL in the theater tomorrow … I just hope the movie turns out better than I’ve been hearing.

Tom Hardy Features In A New Movie Poster For ‘Warrior’

Posted: 16 Jun 2011 02:00 PM PDT

Tom Hardy may be gearing up to play the villainous Bane in next year’s sequel film Batman: The Dark Knight Rises but before that film comes out, he will be starring alongside Joel Edgerton in the new film Warrior. Today we get to check out a new poster for the film and, as you might expect from a fighting film, the guys are wearing as little clothing as possible. Click below to check out the poster and see for yourselves.

Two brothers face the fight of a lifetime – and the wreckage of their broken family – within the brutal, high-stakes world of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighting in Lionsgate's action/drama, Warrior. An ex-Marine haunted by a tragic past, Tommy Conlon (Hardy) returns to his hometown of Pittsburgh and enlists his father (Nick Nolte), a recovered alcoholic and his former coach, to train him for an MMA tournament awarding the biggest purse in the history of the sport. As Tommy blazes a violent path towards the title prize, his brother, Brendan (Edgerton), a former MMA fighter unable to make ends meet as a public school teacher, returns to the amateur ring to provide for his family. Even though years have passed, recriminations and past betrayals keep Brendan bitterly estranged from both Tommy and his father. But when Brendan's unlikely rise as an underdog sets him on a collision course with Tommy, the two brothers must finally confront the forces that tore them apart, all the while waging the most intense, winner-takes-all battle of their lives.

OOH … this sounds good. Tom Hardy is a fantastic actor, I’m sure he will be superb in this film. I’m not a big fan of fighter movies but this is one film I think I’ll have to check out. Great poster, great synopsis … I just hope the movie lives up to expectations. Warrior hits theaters in September.

J.K. Rowling Announces Something Called ‘Pottermore’

Posted: 16 Jun 2011 01:00 PM PDT

Author JK Rowling sent Harry Potter fans into a TIZZY yesterday with the launch of a new website called Pottermore. Altho there is absolute NO official information about the site, it has been sniffed out that Pottermore may become a sort of official online portal for Harry Potter fans. A representative for Rowling insists that the site has nothing to do with a new book or the final Harry Potter film to be released next month. HMMM. Click below to read some speculative commentary on what JK Rowling may have in store for us.

J.K. Rowling has a new website … The site, Pottermore.com, is a new project for the “Harry Potter” author, spokeswoman Rebecca Salt said Thursday. The site is “not a new book” and “not directly related” to the final Potter movie, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2,” which comes out next month, she said. “We aren’t saying any more than that!” Salt said. “Pottermore” was trademarked in 2009 by Warner Bros., which distributes the Potter movies. The trademark description of Pottermore suggests an interactive site “providing on-line chat rooms and electronic bulletin boards” and “on-line facilities for real-time interaction with other computer users concerning topics of general interest.” The site itself reveals little beyond a scrawled message from the author that reads “Coming soon …”. Rowling already has a personal website, at http://www.jkrowling.com. Pottermore.com also has a Twitter account, twitter.com/pottermore, and a YouTube countdown clock, which projects an author announcement for early Thursday, June 23. News of Pottermore.com emerged Wednesday night with messages sent to nine Potter fan sites and an official Potter Twitter account. Each site received one letter, the letters spelling out “pottermore.” A leading Potter fan site, http://www.the-leaky-cauldron.org, alleges that it has seen “a preview of Pottermore and it is, in a word, breathtaking.” “That is all we are permitted to say at the moment.”

HMMM … “breathtaking”, eh? We’ll have to see about that. The name Pottermore implies that there is more Potter to be had. If we aren’t getting a new book and the site is not directly related to the final HP film, then maybe the site will be a storehouse of previously unseen Potter materials that JK Rowling is ready to share with the world? One things for sure, Potter fans will be keepin’ their eyes peeled for any and all information to come about/from Pottermore. Any guesses what JK has in store for us? Are you excited?

Watch: Crystal Harris Explains Why She Called Off Her Wedding To Hugh Hefner

Posted: 16 Jun 2011 12:00 PM PDT

Earlier today we got to see the new EDITED version of this month’s issue of Playboy magazine that labels Crystal Harris as the “Runaway Bride” … right now we get to hear from Crystal herself about why she decided to call off the wedding. Crystal sat down with Entertainment Tonight to explain in pretty good detail exactly why she decided to call off her marriage to Hugh Hefner just days away from her wedding day this weekend. To be honest, I can actually sympathize with Crystal‘s reasoning in this interview. Check it out in full below and see what you think.

Saturday, June 18 was to be the happiest day of Crystal Harris’ life. That was the date set for the Playboy bunny’s wedding to Hugh Hefner until Harris broke off the engagement. ET’s Chris Jacobs sat down with Hef’s 25-yr-old former fiancee for details of the split straight from the source. Through tears, a newly single Harris confides that although she is “relieved,” she feels her biggest regret in breaking the engagement was that she “disappointed everybody.” “It happened so fast,” she says of her decision to marry Hefner, admitting that the glamorous whirlwind of fame played a large part to what (in retrospect) may have been a hasty decision. “Hef asked me to marry him in front of three cameras and a photographer,” Harris explains. “I thought it was something I wanted.” Although Crystal tells Chris she “wouldn’t trade [her time with Hefner] for the world,” she “needed to be true to [her]self.” Hefner announced the cancellation via Twitter on Tuesday, writing, “The wedding is off. Crystal has had a change of heart.” Likewise, Crystal took to her Twitter page, leaving this comment: “After much deep reflection and thought I have decided to end my engagement with Hef. I have the utmost respect for Hef and wish him the best going forward. I hope the media will give each of us the privacy we deserve during this time.” The break-up comes as Harris covers the July issue of Playboy captioned, “Introducing: Mrs. Crystal Hefner.” However, in light of recent events, Hugh tweeted a photo of the following revised cover which now has a warning sticker that reads, “Runaway Bride in This Issue.” The issue hits newsstands Friday.

To be honest … it’s really difficult to find any fault with Crystal‘s decision to call off the wedding. She is 24 years old and 85-year old Hef is always surrounded by women … is this really the kind of marriage that anyone would want to get into? I can imagine how exciting it was to be proposed to by Hugh Hefner but, IMHO, it always felt to me like he only proposed to her because she was the girlfriend du jour. After things ended with Holly Madison, who loved Hefner for many years and seemingly truly comitted herself to him, I got the impression that Hugh was looking to rush into a new realtionship … and get engaged? That always felt so weird to me. In the end, both Hugh and Crystal dodged a huge bullet. Things would’ve been much worse if they had gotten married and then broken up. I can’t hate Crystal for calling off the wedding. It sounds like she was the only one smart enough to make the right decision.

Home For The Holiday

Posted: 16 Jun 2011 10:59 AM PDT

David and I spent our afternoon/evening/night flying cross country from LA to Detroit so that we could be here for Father’s Day weekend. Since we got in really late last night, I haven’t had the chance to see my parents yet but it sure is nice to be home again. The weather is a big muggy and the temperatures promise to soar but, hey, that’s Michigan in June.

Tonight, Sarah, David and I will be making our way to the Crofoot Ballroom in Pontiac, MI (a venue I’ve never been to before) to see Lenka live in concert. Lenka opened for some guy a couple of months ago in LA and I was unable to attend the show … so I’m really excited to finally see her live tonight. Her new album Two is one of my fave new albums of the year so, yeah, can’t wait!!

I hope YOUR Thursdays are going well … it’s almost the weekend, y’all!!

Posted: 16 Jun 2011 09:37 AM PDT

Earlier this week we saw a new poster for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 that featured Harry and his BFFs Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley. To compliment that poster, today we get to see a newer poster from The Deathly Hallows that features the villianous Lord Voldemort and his most loyal Death Eaters Bellatrix LeStrange and Lucius Malfoy. Check out the poster artwork below.

This new baddies poster was unveiled on the official Twitter profile for the FINAL Harry Potter film, due out next month. We are now less than a month away from the film’s release … time is quickly slipping away. Stay tuned … a new trailer for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 is being released later today. The end is nigh … and it continues to get nigher each and every day :(

Watch: ‘The Muppets’ Release A ‘Green Lantern’ Parody Trailer

Posted: 16 Jun 2011 09:01 AM PDT

Last month, to coincide with the release of The Hangover Part 2, The Muppets movie released a Hangover parody trailer that was titled The Fuzzy Pack. This month, to coincide with the release of Green Lantern, they have released a Green Lantern parody trailer titled Being Green. Are you beginning to notice a pattern here? In any event, this new trailer features new footage from the film that has not yet been featured in any other trailer … check it out in full below.

While I’m not too impressed with the Green Lantern parody of this trailer, I do like that it sounds like they got Ryan Reynolds to do the voice over in the beginning. The rest of the trailer looks great … the Swedish joke at the end is brilliant. I am really looking forward to the release of this film … but we still have a LONG way to go before The Muppets hits theaters. I guess we have months of parody trailers to look forward to in the meantime. Do you think they’ll release a Harry Potter parody trailer next month? As for this trailer, what do y’all think?

First Listen: Selena Gomez, ‘Whiplash’

Posted: 16 Jun 2011 08:44 AM PDT

Last month we learned that Selena Gomez‘s new album will feature a few songs that were written by Britney Spears and today we get to hear one of those songs in full. Selena recorded Whiplash for her new album When the Sun Goes Down which was a track that was originally intended for Britney‘s last album Circus. Click below to hear Selena singing Britney‘s song Whiplash.

IMHO, the song is great … it’s catchy and fun. It would’ve fit perfectly on Circus but, alas, Britney has a lot of fantastic songs that can’t all fit on her albums. Fortunately for Selena, she managed to get her hands on a few of Britney‘s songs. Take a listen to Whiplash to see what you think:

I love this track. I can’t wait to hear what the other songs sound like. As I understand it, 3 of the tracks on Selena‘s new album were written by Britney. If this song is any indication, those songs will be just as fab!

Mrs. Crystal Hefner Harris’s ‘Playboy’ Magazine Cover Gets Edited

Posted: 16 Jun 2011 07:58 AM PDT

Yesterday we got to see what the new issue of Playboy magazine looks like with Crystal Harris (embarrassingly mis-headlined Introducing Mrs. Crystal Hefner) on the cover. Today we get to see what the edited newsstand version of the magazine will look like. Altho the subscriber version of this issue has already been mailed out, Hugh Hefer is sending out a slightly edited version of the issue to newsstands. Hef decided to slap on a big red sticker on this issue of Playboy magazine … check out what the new cover looks like below.

Hugh Hefner is finally taking action in his unexpected break-up with Crystal Harris — defacing her Playboy cover with a giant red sticker that reads, “Runaway Bride.” Before Crystal called off the wedding … just days before their wedding … Hefner had already agreed to give her the July cover with the headline, “Mrs. Crystal Hefner.” Box loads of magazines have already been shipped without the sticker — but Hefner insists the big, red mark WILL appear on newsstands.

Ugh … what a mess. But … these things happen. As I mentioned yesterday, the unedited version of this month’s Playboy magazine is bound to be a HUGE collector’s item. If you’re a Playboy fan, you might want to seek out both versions of this particular issue … the stickerless and the stickered.

Posted: 16 Jun 2011 07:03 AM PDT

Today is the day, y’all … our dear Britney Spears kicks off her new tour The Femme Fatale Tour in Sacrmento, CA TONIGHT! As you may recall, I was very fortunate to attend a private dress rehearsal in Los Angeles, CA last week (you can read my comments on the rehearsal HERE and read the full tour setlist HERE) but last night in Sacramento, Britney performed one final FULL DRESS rehearsal to gear up for tonight’s tour launch. Click below to see a couple photos of Britney and her tourmate Nicki Minaj in Sacremento yesterday, one day before today’s big tour kickoff.

But before Britney dress rehearsed, she stepped out in Sacramento to get in a jog … while Nicki was spotted making her arrival at her hotel:

So … today’s the day. I am really looking forward to hearing what people have to say about the Femme Fatale Tour once the show starts tonight. I expect we’ll have some photos to check out as well. I, personally, am DYING to see what merchandise will be offered. If any of y’all attend the concert tonight, be sure to send in your pics of the show (and the merch!). Break a leg, Britney!
