WHOOPSIE: Dwyane Wade's Foundation SUED Over Marching Band Mishap, Drum Stick Went Upside Woman's Head Posted: 21 Aug 2013 09:30 AM PDT Dwyane Wade's Wade Foundation had been sued by a woman who claims to have suffered injuries from being struck with a bass drum mallet. Get more on this story inside.....  A Chicago woman is suing Dwyane Wade's foundation claiming she was injured during a Wade's World charity event when she was struck by a bass drum mallet as a marching band charged down the aisle. Andrea Alexander brought the $50,000 lawsuit saying she was seated in an aisle seat at the foundation's "Chicago Has Talent" event last year when a drummer from a high school marching band hit her in the head with his bass drum mallet. She says she suffered severe and permanent injuries.  Andrea feels Dwyane's foundation is at fault for negligently allowing the band to play in the narrow aisles. She is also suing the venue and the band's high school. So far, Wade's World has not responded to the lawsuit.  Severer and permanent injuries though?  Hmm....   BONUS:   Speaking of sports stars, in honor of their 25th anniversay, NIKE has put a very clever spin on their "Just Do It" campaign with a new mini-movie directed by the acclaimed Nicolai Fuglsig narrated by Bradley Cooper. Tamar Braxton Drops "All The Way Home" Single & Preps New Relationship Book With Vince + K.Michelle Nabs #2 Album In The Country Posted: 21 Aug 2013 08:46 AM PDT Tamar Braxton just gave us another peek into her upcoming album Love and War.  Her brand new single "All the Way Home" is inside.  And news about her & Vince's new relationship book.   Plus, find out how K.Michelle's album sales went.... TV host, new mom, singer, reality star and author (more on that later) Tamar Braxton is giving us a third single off her upcoming Love and War album (out September 3rd). "All The Way Home", a follow up to "Love and War" & "The One", is a romantically sexy mid-temp R&B track all about how Mrs. Braxton Herbert feels after a fight with the love of her life.  She's thinking about him during the whole drive back home. And she's had a change of heart.  She sings: "Done with all that cussing.  Came to get something.  Screaming for a different reason now.  While we're breaking stuff, turning up..." Meow.  Tamar has also been saying in many of her promo interviews this week that the entire album was a reflection about the ups and downs in her marriage, which is expected when there's a new baby and new business ventures happening. Check the new single below: In other Tamar news, she revealed on Baltimore’s Magic 95.9 radio station Tuesday morning that she and hubby Vince Herbert will be releasing a relationship advice book titled after her album, Love and War. The book will drop on Black Friday this year, November 29th, and will be based on the couple's first hand experiences and their story with both over the top love and equally over the top war.  She said Tuesday: “It’s called Love & War because … we’re going through a lot in our relationship.  I call [the song "Love & War"] the soundtrack to our relationship.” Her tour with John Legend also kicks off October 20th in Connecticut.  And we're told she was at a dance studio in NYC last week holding tryouts for backup dancers.  We're sure we'll see how all of these new ventures play out on the new season of "Tamar & Vince", premiering September 5th on WeTV.  Talk about busy!     In other news, Tamar's Twitter enemy K.Michelle is also celebrating some good news.  Her brand new debut studio album Rebellious Soul has just become the #2 album in the country.  She pushed over 68,000 units, according to Hits Daily Double, and nabbed her spot on the Billboard charts.  The #1 spot went to country music star Luke Bryan who sold over 530,000 units of Crash My Party.   She also is celebrating her single “V.S.O.P.” sliding into the top 50 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts. And it’s her sixth song to do so. And if you're curious as to how she met her newest NBA baller boyfriend Lance Stephens, she said during a radio interview with Power 99's Rise N' Grind morning show it all started when she saw Lance kicking her ex's (J.R. Smith of the Knicks) ass during the NBA playoffs. "The other guy I was dating, they were in the playoffs together. I was watching the game and it was this chocolate dude. He was just ballin’. He was just bustin’ my ex’s butt." Figures.  She gave the rest of the story saying: "I was like, ‘Whoa, who is that? He is fine!' I Googled him and he was already following me on Twitter, but I didn’t say nothing. I followed him back [on Twitter] but I didn’t say nothing. I figured I’d run into him, it was so crazy. I put up a Vine and was following him on Vine and he said something and one day I commented on his Vine back. Then one day in front of everybody he just gave me his phone number on Vine. I said, ‘What are you doing? Do you know my fans will call you?’ He was like, ‘I ain’t care. I was trying to get to you.’ So that was it. I let him make his move and he did. GROUNDHOG DAY: Rapper DMX ARRESTED In South Carolina After Driver Makes An ILLEGAL U-Turn, Claims He Was SETUP! [UPDATED] Posted: 21 Aug 2013 07:56 AM PDT Rapper DMX was arrested in South Carolina last night after cops claims they found weed and discovered an outstanding warrant after a routine traffic stop.  Find out more deets inside.....   Last night, rapper DMX and a friend were pulled over in South Carolina after the driver (not DMX) "allegedly" made an illegal U-turn.  During the stop, cops say they found marijuana and noticed that X had an outstanding warrant from driving without a license. So you know what happened next....that hauled his ass to jail. But before he was put in the cop car, the rapper (who's starring in the new Chris Rock project) put on a full-fledged performance while ranting about being "setup."  As a female bystander filmed the arrest, the rapper can be heard screaming, "This ain't no normal traffic stop. 18 cops, 5 cars, get the f**k outta here man. It was legal ... they got nothing." During one part of the rant, you can hear him say, "I'm sweatin' like a motherf**ker, yo." In fact, cops believe he had an asthma attack so they had paramedics come treat him. According to TMZ, X was taken to jail in Greer County, SC and will see a judge this morning.  He is expected to be sentenced to 15 days behind bars, but may only serve 10. X was arrested in South Carolina just last month for driving without a license, and allegedly driving under the influence (which his rep denies). *UPDATE* TMZ gave more details about what went down--involving weed smells and drunkeness.  Here's the update in full since it's...ridiculous: According to the police report, obtained by TMZ ... DMX smelled like he was drunk and in possession of WEED at the time of the arrest. Cops say X was a passenger in an F350 truck that made an illegal lane change. When they stopped the ride, cops say they found a bag of weed sitting on the arm rest of the passenger door, where X was sitting. Cops say one of the officers recognized DMX during the arrest and knew there was an active warrant for his arrest. The officers proceeded to search the car ... and found 3 more bags of weed under the driver's floor board. ... so they cited the driver for possession of weed. According to the report, DMX became "very aggressive with this words and was making multiple idle threats." X was ultimately cited for weed and hauled to a nearby jail to deal with the warrant. Watch DMX explain his side of the story to a bystander:    *UPDATE* DMX's publicist Domenick Nati had this to say, "DMX was driving in the passenger seat when the vehicle he was in was pulled over last night. Although officers pulled them over for a minor traffic violation, DMX was asked to step outside so they can search the vehicle. Officers then claimed that they found bags of marijuana in the floorboard and arrested X. No drugs were found on DMX or the other passengers and the alleged bags of marijuana were never shown to DMX or the other passengers. BABY ON THE WAY! "LAHH ATL" Star Rasheeda is IN LABOR Posted: 21 Aug 2013 07:15 AM PDT   Just when everyone was wondering when Rasheeda would finally pop, the rapper and "LAHH ATL" star is now in labor.  She and her controversial husband Kirk are at an Atlanta hospital awaiting baby Karter Frost's arrival.  And Kirk seems genuinely excited (finally)... In an IG announcement this morning, Rasheeda told her fans she's about to finally pop out her brand new baby boy: She and Kirk are getting lots of social media love from their celeb friends who are wishing them luck. And Kirk posted the above pic of 'Sheeda in her hospital gown saying: We don't know if he's officially been allowed back in the house after his threesome & disrespectful antics that were blasted on national television.  But the two seemed cordial at last week's baby shower and will probably push all the drama to the side to welcome a brand new life into a peaceful home.  Hopefully... Kanye Gives In To The Ratings Ploy, Reveals First Pic Of North West On "Kris" Show Posted: 21 Aug 2013 06:33 AM PDT Just when you thought it was Kanye who was holding the reins when it comes to keeping his brand new baby girl North away from the media....and away from media ploys....it seems like he's actually in on it all.   Deets on how Kanye will show off his baby for the first time inside... As previously reported, Kanye West has already taped the finale for his daughter's grandmother's show, "Kris".  And they didn't just talk about how much Kanye loves Kim K. and how much he adores being a daddy, dude actually is using the show to reveal North for the very first time.  Shocker. According to TMZ, during the 1 hour interview, Kanye brought a pic of North West to be shown on the monitor for the masses.  It was only shown for a couple of seconds during the taping to avoid anyone in the audience from whipping out a camera and landing a shot.  But when the show airs Friday, the masses will get to soak it in for much longer. Grandma Kris is pulling out all the stops to make sure her show gets those ratings and gets picked up for a full season.  And it surprisingly seems Kanye is willing to help by offering up the baby for the predictable ratings ploy we all saw coming. BUSTED: Denver Nuggets Star Ty Lawson And His PREGNANT Girlfriend Ashley Pettiford JAILED For Domestic Violence! Posted: 20 Aug 2013 02:55 PM PDT Denver Nuggets guard Ty Lawson and his pregnant girlfriend Ashley Pettiford were both arrested over the weekend on charges of domestic violence. Find out more details inside.... On Saturday, an argument between Denver Nuggets guard Ty Lawson and his 6-months pregnant girlfriend Ashley Pettiford (who appeared on Season 6 of "Bad Girls Club" so, he knew what he was getting into here) sent them both to jail for domestic violence. According to a police report obtained by TMZ, police showed up at Ty's home around 9 am to find Ashley in tears after a fight with Ty (regarding him talking to another woman). So the scene played out like an episode of "BGC." Ashley claimed Ty pushed her onto their bed when she tried to leave their home and she responded by breaking his cell phone. Ty responded later by dunking her phone under water.  How old are we? After taking a report, police arrested Ty for suspicion of domestic violence, as well as criminal mischief (for throwing the cell phone) while Ashley was jailed for criminal mischief (for destroying Ty's phone) and domestic violence. Both have been released on $1,000 bond. Denver Nugget GM Tim Connelly released a statement saying he was "fully aware" of the incident but the team would have no further comment. Foolery. *UPDATE* Both Ty & Ashley NOW say this whole arrest after the fight at Ty's Denver home was just a big mistake...and it was just a "bad night" they had.  But they have been on the up and up working things out and continue to do so.  We've heard this before....   The Randomness: 1.  Former Bad Boy intern sues Bad Boy Entertainment for making her get coffee and perform other tasks for free.  In other words, an intern is suing because she's an intern.  Story. 2.  Producer Scott Storch robbed at gunpoint in in NYC.  Claims robbers got away with $100K in jewelry and $5K in cash.  Story.

Russell Simmons EXPLAINS Where He Went Wrong With "Harriet Tubman"...But Is Making A SERIES + How This Generation Of Rappers Have FAILED Posted: 20 Aug 2013 01:32 PM PDT Amidst the public backlash against the "Harriet Tubman Sex Tape" spoof on his Def Digital Youtube channel, Russell Simmons did an in-depth interview with the HuffPost's Black Voices about it all.    He explained where he dropped the ball with the controversy, what he, as an old school hip hop head, thinks about Kendrick Lamar and where the newest generation of hip hop artists are failing.... After his public persona was dealt a crushing blow with the "Harriet Tubman" Sex tape spoof backlash,  Russell Simmons attempted some damage control with an in-depth interview with HuffPost where he explains how he interpreted the spoof and why the controversy went over his head (initially).  He also talked about working on series-like projects about Frederick Douglass and Harriet Tubman (hmm...), and why he wishes the new generation of rappers were socially conscious like Public Enemy.  Oh, and he talks about all the threats he dealt with during that Public Enemy era. Here are the highlights:  You made headlines stemming from a Harriet Tubman sex tape parody that surfaced on your All Def Digital channel. Were you surprised by the backlash? I was surprised by how big it was. I expected "B-Rock" and some of the other stuff on the channel to cause controversy, but I still maintain that comedy should push the edge. I misunderstood the underlying implications and I'm deeply sorry for that. Because I thought the slave took advantage of and blackmailed the slave master. That's what I thought. "Django," whatever…and I liked "Django." I'm not Spike Lee. I ain't a hater. I thought "Django" was good. And I thought that's what that was. And then once someone explained to me what it was, for the first time in 30 years I took down some content. I never took down a piece of content in my life. They shot up my office over Public Enemy. They had people under the desk hiding. Snipers were outside of my office. I was told not only would they throw me out of Columbia Records if I didn't get rid of Public Enemy, but that no other record company would take me. And I didn't quit. And now Public Enemy is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame…So I've been through it. But in this case I understood how hurt people were, especially black women. And it just made me feel like, "I don't want to do that. I don't want to be that kind of source of pain for that many people." So I pulled it down instantly when I understood it. So it is what it is. It's behind me, I hope. It's a different world. As a father of two daughters, are you concerned with how the message from the clip may be perceived if they viewed it? I didn't understand the clip as being nothing but her taking advantage of the slave master. One of the activists who had planned on boycotting me was at my house along with some students and I said, "You know, I didn't understand the rape thing." She said, "what about the implication that a woman has to sleep with someone to get ahead?" And I don't think that's what it said. Instead, she was taking advantage of the slave master. That's what I thought. I totally get if it reminds you of the previous rapes, because obviously it appears that she's seducing him. But it implies the previous rapes. And so, making that jump I didn't do it. I might have a sensitivity chip missing. I made a horrible mistake and I'm deeply sorry. Aside from the controversy, you're also in the process of developing projects based on Frederick Douglass and Harriet Tubman. I'm doing a seven-part mini-series on Frederick Douglass. With serious support to develop that. And now because of this public discussion I've been talking to the family [of Harriet Tubman] and they said why don't we develop something…why not, I'm reading with every writer in Hollywood that can make Frederick Douglas, they are the same writers who can make Harriet Tubman. I have a take on Frederick Douglas, I think. We have to develop that take on Harriet Tubman. It probably won't be a mini-series. It might be. But i think it's easier to really tell a story to more people through television. People are saying it's a documentary because I mentioned it on Twitter. But no, I'm interested in doing a feature or a mini-series on a television network. What are your thoughts on Kendrick Lamar's much-talked-about verse on Big Sean's "Control"? I thought it was ok…It was good. I liked Jay Electronica, too. He's great. I like Kendrick Lamar. The verse was good. It's pro wrestling. It's not hurtful. Nobody got mad at him. It just gave us the chance to talk about who's the best. That's what a big part of rap is about, competition. What's the one thing that you would like to see happen among today's hip-hop generation, musically, that's lacking from previous years? When I first started out was one thing, but there was a moment in time where Public Enemy inspired a whole generation of people to be more conscious of what they can do for other people. More conscious of the struggle of their community. More conscious of the oppressors. I would love if they woke up in the morning and say that corporations run the country and not the people. That the politicians work for the corporations instead of the people. That this became a really normal subject matter. That the way poverty is growing, and the rich are getting richer. I would love for all the rappers to talk about civil rights, animal rights, gay rights. I would love for them all to become progressive voices…But I've learned to accept people as they are. MUSIC FAB: R.Kelly Ft. Future "Tear It Up" + Omarion's "Know You Better" Ft. Pusha T & Fabolous Posted: 20 Aug 2013 12:50 PM PDT R.Kelly just dropped a track with Future called "Tear It Up".  Check it inside, plus Omarion back with an R&B track "Know You Better"... He may have just had his famed Chicago mansion slashed in price from over $3 million to $500K, but the R. is still cranking out the music he's known for. This time, he's teamed up with Future--who has built a rap career off of being auto tuned to death saying the same 5 words over and over--to drop "Tear It Up." Obviously, R. makes the song.  And the slightly ratchet sound of Future gives it a little edge.  Check it out below as he premiered it on V103 in Chicago.  The sex jam will appear on R.'s upcoming Black Panties album.   And Omarion is still on the R&B scene as he's just released "Know You Better" ft. B*TCH STOLE MY LOOK: Tamar Braxton Says K. Michelle STALKED Her Wig Maker And Jacked Her 'Do! Posted: 20 Aug 2013 11:47 AM PDT Tamar Braxton has come clean about the "wig" tweets that upset reality star K. Michelle,  revealing that the tweets WERE NOT about the "V.S.O.P." singer, but were actually directed towards Tamar's wig stylist (the one she says K. Michelle stalked)! "Love & War" singer Tamar Braxton spoke to Muthaknows and Mina SayWhat from "The Rise & Grind Morning Show" on Power 99 where she gave them "the 411" on what's really going on between her and "LAHH ATL" star K. Michelle.   Previously, we told you about the war of words on Twitter between Tamar and K. Michelle.  There was a nasty exchange after Tamar tweeted about her "wig" being taken.  To clear up the tweet, Tamar revealed today that her comment was directed towards the person who styles her wigs....not at K. Michelle.  But Tamar says K. Michelle stalked her wig maker and then commissioned a wig that looked VERY similar to one she had previously worn. So....that remark was INDIRECTLY aimed at K. Tamar went on to say, "Every situation I've had with this person....she's invited herself into."  She explained that the two had a previous Twitter battle over tweets Tamar sent to her BFF Toya Wright.  Again, Tamar says she was not speaking to K. Michelle or about her, yet K. started tweeting catty comments.   Tamar revealed that the situation got so sticky that Mona Scott Young and Vincent Herbert had to get involved.  She said K. Michelle has offered to call her an apologize.  But Tamar felt that since she insulted her publicly, she should apologize in public as well.  And since a public apology has never happened, Tamar says they won't be able to have a friendship. SPOTTED: Rihanna ROCKS Her River Island Collection In NYC While Hitting Her Fave Spots--Da Silvano, American Apparel & McDonalds Posted: 20 Aug 2013 10:23 AM PDT   Rihanna is back in New York City where she was spotted out and about looking like a hot bodied walking advertisement for her latest River Island collection. Inside, see candids of Rih Rih living it up in the City yesterday... After taking a private plane down to Miami to party with Jay Z and Justin during their Legends Of The Summer Tour, pop starlet Rihanna has returned to the Big Apple where she was spotted leaving brunch at Da Silvano restaurant yesterday.     The the fashion lover headed over to the West Village to grab some basics at American Apparel that we know she will make look like million bucks.   Though she was shopping at AA, the "Diamonds" chick was in head-to-toe in River Island gear from her newest fall collection.  She rocked fatigue leggings that said “RiRi” on the waist, a “G4Life” bra top and beanie, and a denim jacket. She accessorized her look with a gold necklace, some rings and bracelets, and Chanel sunglasses. And she even made a late night stop to McDonald's.  Sometimes a chick just needs some good ass fries.  Gotta love it. Kanye West Tapes The Kris Jenner Finale Show, REVEALS 'I Am So In Love With Kim, I Thought About Playing Sports!' Posted: 20 Aug 2013 09:24 AM PDT Kanye West is sitting down with Kris Jenner this week to discuss his love for her daughter, Kim Kardashian, and their child North West.  Find out what else Kris and Kanye chatted about to scrap for some last minute ratings inside....   Krsi Jenner plans to go out with a big bang as her daytime chatfest "Kris" ends its six-week test run.  She's done an hour long interview with rapper Kanye West, set to air on Friday.  *Insert collective groan* The interview was taped Monday at the Culver City, CA studio and covered a wide range of topics, including, his two-month-old baby girl North, his rocky relationship with the press and how much he loves Kim. In fact, he joked about Kim's past relationships with NFL star Reggie Bush and NBA star Kris Humphries saying, 'I am so in love with Kim, I thought about playing sports!' And for fans who'd like to get more insight into Kanye's life as a confident teen, a few pics of teenage Kanye have emerge. They show a highly ambitious and creative teen who always had a love for rap, poetry AND the spotlight. Kanye West's hour-long interview on “Kris” will air Friday, Aug. 23.
