Get the deets on Kendrick's success inside and find out about the latest "American Idol" shakeup. Now that his debut LP good kid, m.A.A.d city has gone platinum, rapper Kendrick Lamar may truly be the King of both coasts like he claimed. After his debut disc topped the charts last November (moving 241,000 copies its first week), Kendrick's chart sales remained stable (but relatively quiet) until his explosive verse on Big Sean's "Control" single. Now, first time fans and buyers are taking notice of the young mc. KL called out several of hip hops biggest stars on his now infamous verse that went a little something like this in case you've been under a rock:
Everyone and their dog has resonded in a clap back track, except for those actually named. In hindsight, those words seem prophetic. In an age where it's rare that an album goes platinum, even months after the release, Kendrick has reach that goal in under a year. Perhaps he is the king?
In other music news.... We've been following the "American Idol" casting shakeup for a few months now, and there are new changes to report! As it stands, we know Keith Urban will be returning to his seat (he survived the Mariah Carey/Nicki Minaj debacle) and it's pretty certain that Jennifer Lopez will make a comeback to replace Mariah. But in this week's surprise shakeup, former "AI" judge Randy Jackson has been selected to return as a mentor on the show, replacing music exec Jimmy Iovine. So who'll being joining Keith and J Lo on the panel? So far....top music producer Dr. Luke tops everyone's list to win the final seat. Not so impressive so far, but we'll keep you posted.

Find out what television show she taped inside, and see how she spent her ASS-tastic day in NYC. Yesterday, Serena Williams, who's ranked number one in women's singles tennis, was spotted leaving the Ed Sullivan theatre after taping an interview for "Late Show with David Letterman" (airing tonight on CBS at 11:35p ET). Chick turned heads in a body hugging sleeveless leather dress which she paired with black-and-white with gold embellishment stilettos. And refrained from bumping the kid fans out the way with that donk. Not even mad. Earlier in the day, Serena played table tennis with Iman Shumpert at Madison Square Park for an event sponsored by Delta. We're sure Serena practiced a few new tricks as she's preparing to advance to the Western & Southern Open singles championship for the first time in her career. She'll play against second-seeded Victoria Azarenka during the finals at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason.

Besties LaLa Anthony & Kelly Rowland had singer Estelle and actress/model Tae Heckard (who is also Nelly's main chick) join them for a fun dinner at the posh Cecconi's in Beverly Hills last night. Pics of the fab chicks inside... These gorgeous ladies have been working hard at their respective new projects, at the gym and beyond, so its only right they reward themselves with a girls' night out:
Baggage Claim star LaLa was spotted looking cute in floral and striped trim pants with a cropped black tee and black pumps as she said her goodbyes to good friend Estelle and Ms. Rowland. And we spotted fab chick Tae Heckard of "The Game" cheesin' it up in the background as well in her soft pink pants and midriff baring mesh top :
Kelly Rowland kept it comfy in a sweatshirt-style skirt, a ribbed white tank, a fanny pack and heels and made that ish look sexy. Of course she did. Those fitness DVDs she's been releasing are clearly doing some wonderful things. And the hot "Kisses Down Low" singer took some time to sign some autographs too. Never too busy for her fans. Loves it.

| RUMOR CONTROL: Beyonce And Jay Z DID NOT Purchase The Chicago Regal Theater Posted: 22 Aug 2013 06:18 AM PDT Hold your horses! Rumors that Beyonce and Jay Z purchased the historical New Regal Theater in Chicago have been proven false. Find out more about this story inside and get the deets on a very good cause that Jay Z is involved in....... This week, a report claiming Beyonce and Jay Z had purchased Chicago's iconic yet troubled Regal Theater for $250K in order to save it gained lots of traction on the web. But now, a source close to the theater (which has gone under contract) has confirmed to NBC News Chicago that Bey and Jay ARE NOT the new owners. In other Jay Z news, The Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation (which we told you about a few months ago) has been receiving great feedback from academic authorities who've praised the organization for extending study abroad opportunities to underserved students. While many folks (mainly Harry Belafonte) took issue with Jay Z saying "My presence is charity", it should be noted that Jay aka Shawn Carter is involved in many philanthropic efforts that his fans and critics may be unaware of. In fact, Diverse Issues in Higher Education reports that last year, the Shawn Carter Foundation financed 188 scholarships in addition to four study abroad scholarships through the Gilman scholars program with the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. So the next time someone accuses Bey and Jay (and any YBF celeb for that matter as not all good deeds get a press release) of not giving back to their community....please tell them to have several seats.

| EXCLUSIVE: Brandy Shoots Down 'Performance At Empty Stadium' Rumor -- "It's All False!" Posted: 22 Aug 2013 05:03 AM PDT On Wednesday, reports circulated the net in regards to Brandy giving a concert at a stadium in South Africa that seats 90,000. And reports falsely spread the rumor that only 40 fans showed up.
We spoke to members of Brandy's team for an exclusive statement, and we've got it inside.... A certain internet site concocted a rumor slamming Brandy Norwood's capabilities of filling a concert venue. Once an actual credible site picked up the story, the rumor spread like wildfire. We decided to ask the source what went down to get to the bottom of it. And we were told the entire story is false. With an exclusive statement to TheYBF.com to explain, Brandy's rep emphasized this will be her first and last time addressing the online reports:

Plus other ish that had us saying Oh Really? Mariah shuts down her husband on his own show and Wentworth Miller comes out as gay.... With one album featuring grown-up Drake with a fresh shape up and gold chains, and the other a pictue of a cutesy baby Drake with a 'fro and an afro pick, folks have been talking about Drizzy's NWTS album covers all evening. The cartoonesque pics were created by the same designer who did MJ's Michael album, Kadir Nelson. The album drops September 24th (a week later than scheduled) and the Toronto emcee will feature Hov, Lil Wayne and more on his third studio album. By the way, Drizzy isn't the first to make a stylized baby pic his album cover. Biggie's Ready To Die, Nas' illmatic, and Lil Wayne's Tha Carter III all had the same concept. In case you need to be reminded who wears the pants in the Carey-Cannon household, Mariah just sashayed her divaness onto Nick Cannon's MTV2 "Wild N Out" stage. And shut him down on his own show. During the improv-style show, Nick and his co-stars were playing a game called "Let Me Holla". And as Nick got his flirt on with the ladies, MiMi popped her leather-clad ass up from backstage with two big bodyguards in tow. And told Nick, “I will shut all this shit down!” Yasssss MiMi. Nick's only reply? “I know, I’m sorry.” Ha. Gotta love them.
And for the shocker of the day....Former "Prison Break" star Wentworth Millercame out as gay. Yep, the man we've had a crush on for eons and who is actually half black. Well, who the F knew this? Apparently, no one. Beause 41-year-old Wentworth surprised most when he posted a letter on GLAAD's website explaining that he refuses to travel to Russia due to their government's recent horrific actons and attitude toward gay citizens. He stated:

Imternational movie star Zoe Saldana and sister Cisely Saldana have inked a first-look deal (via their production company Saldana Productions) with Lionsgate Entertainment 's Pantelion Films (which will be a Latino-focused Hollywood studio). Zoe, who has signed on for three more Avatar films as well as the lead role in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy spoke to THR about the deal saying, "We look forward to a fruitful and productive relationship with Pantelion."
In other big Hollywood moves..... Rashida Jones and her older sister, Kidada Jones have sold a new tv series, "Ladyballs" to the CW. So what's the series about? According to The Hollywood Reporter,
Rashida Jones and Will McCormack will co-executive produce the potential series while Kara Taylor (author of Prep School Confidential) will write the script and also co-executive produce. Also, Kidada Jones will make her debut as a producer.

And why she's so nice & nasty....at the same time.... Singer Janelle Monae, who just released her "Primetime" single featuring Miguel, covers the latest issue of Vibe Vixen where she dishes on her upcoming album The Electric Lady (September 10). Inside, she described what it means to be an "Electric Lady" saying, "An electric lady is quirky, unafraid, epic and ‘nicety’—that’s when you’re being nice and nasty, noble and naughty, all at the same damn time.”
When discussing how how life has changed since she entered the music business, Janelle said, “I’ve evolved. When you realize it’s your responsibility to be a leader and create the world that you want to see, you have to do it. It’s my responsibility to create music and come up with ideas that keep my community first.” And about her love life, which she rarely opens up about....she's only focused on her music. But she DID give what her ideal man would be like:

LaTavia posted the below with a smile to announce the news to her fans: Awww. She and her baby's father Don Vito have named her Lyric. And we can't wait to see her! Congrats to the new parents! P.S. LaTavia's fellow ATL celeb friend Rasheeda also gave birth today to a baby boy named Karter.

On Monday night, Reebok Classic a huge concert/party at the Project Trade Show during Majic in Las Vegas. Held at the Rain Nightclub at the Palms Hotel, the show featured top-notch pyrotechnics and lighting as Travi$ Scott, French Montana, Tyga and Swizz Beatz headlined. Chris Brown (shown above with Tyga) was a special guest. We hope Chris isn't violating his probation with whatever he's got in that cup! Karrueche Tran was also there to support Chris. She clearly had a good time tweeting, "Vegas is draining.. Goooooooodnight" Tyga, who posed with Swizz Beatz, performed his hits "Faded", "Rack City" and "Dope". And his baby moms Blac Chyna was on vacay with her bestie in Cabo. French Montana hit the stage with Swizz Beatz for "Pop That" and "Ocho Cinco". Rapper Rick Ross was also in the building, hitting the stage to perform “Stay Schemin" his Jay Z track “F*ckWithMeYouKnowIGotIt,” and “I’m A Boss".
Rick also posed with Miami native (and French Montana's girlfriend) Trina. Y'all already know she was there. It's funny seeing Rick Ross at a Reebok event since the brand publically dropped him over this "U.O.E.N.O" lyrics. But we guess a check is a check.....
The last special guest to hit the stage was Chris Brown, who rocked the mic with Tyga, Rick Ross, French Montana, and Swizz Beatz. He closed the show by performing "Beat It."
Also in Las Vegas yesterday......
LaLa Anthony hosted VIBE Magazine's 20th year anniversary party at TAO.
She rocked a Sass & Bide dress with Charlotte Olympia platform wedges for the event. Then, the hostess with the mostess treated VIP party guests to Sprayground back packs that included Sol Republic headphones, custom VIBE 20th New Era hats and Civil apparel. The mag's private daytime pool party wwas followed by an afterparty at the House of Blues.
Karrueche Tran was also spotted at the pool party. She and Lala were overheard hashing it out about their favorite VIBE covers with Editor-In-Chief Jermaine Hall. And later, rappers Juicy J and Talib Kweli hit the stage at The House Of Blues afterparty.

| Beyonce GETS WAVY For Ty Hunter's Birthday Party, Hits Amusement Park Rides At V Festival Posted: 21 Aug 2013 10:15 AM PDT Beyonce celebrated the birthday of her long time stylist Ty Hunter last night night and she turned her bob into cute wavy locks. See party pics inside and check out Bey and her dancers hitting up a few amusement park rides during this past weekend's V Festival. Last night, Mrs. Carter (shown above with a fan), cousin Angie Beyince and a group of their friends got together in Manhattan to celebrate the birthday of Bey's stylist Ty Hunter. Bey wore her blonde bob in a wavy style....and we're really feeling this new look on her.

And this past weekend...... Bey and her dancers took a break and hit up a few crazy amusement park rides in between her performances at the V Festival in England. We hope the crew got it in during their "fun" day because a receipt popped up online showing Bey spent over $2,000 on chicken platters from the Nando's Chicken Restaurant in Chelsmford before the crew performed on Saturday night. The chain is obviously one of Bey's favorites as she spent $1,300 there a few months ago during a stop through Dublin. And a few pics from her second day at the Fest:
We're sure you heard about a few fans booing Mrs. Carter for being a few minutes late, but you have to admit, she's worth the wait.
