Justin Bieber Tweets Get Well Wishes To Selena Gomez

Posted: 11 Jun 2011 01:33 PM PDT

Earlier this week, little popstarlet Selena Gomez had to be hospitalized after she made an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. It has been reported that Selena was rushed to the hospital after suffering “severe headache and nausea”. In a show of public support for his girlfriend, Justin Bieber posted a message of support on his official Twitter profile which, likely, made Selena feel a bit better … and made his legion of female fans even angrier at poor Selena.

Awww … see folks, this is romance in the digital age. If you want to send someone well wishes, you just tweet them. Here’s hoping Selena gets over this bout of nausea so severe that she had to be hospitalized. HMMM … I wonder what could’ve caused her to get nauseous … HMMMM. Any ideas? Anyone?

‘FLA’ FTW!

Posted: 11 Jun 2011 01:22 PM PDT

Because my invite to the private tour rehearsal performance for Britney Spears‘s The Femme Fatale Tour last night came with such short notice, I already had plans for my Friday night. Thankfully, the earliness of Britney‘s rehearsal and the lateness of my previous plans worked out where I was able to do both. Last night I was able to see industrial rock legends Front Line Assembly live in concert. Believe me, I couldn’t have gone to more opposite concerts … but I ended up having a very good, very different time at the FLA show last night.

Let me tell you … Front Line Assembly and I go way back. Once upon a time, I was a jaded youth with a penchant for wearing all black, long hair and body piercings. Yes, ’tis very true. Back in my hey day, I was totally consumed by industrial rock music … which is why Nine Inch Nails will forever be my fave band of all time. I have clocked many hours dancing the wee, wee hours away to music by FLA but I never actually got to see them live before … until last night. Their show last night was really fun, pretty bare bones but loud. I must confess, I don’t really feel same connection to the music that I used to but I was really happy that I finally got to see the band live. It was a great show, I’m glad I got to go.

This afternoon, David and I are brunching with Darion and then tonight we head out to Pomona, CA to see Good Charlotte in concert with Yellowcard. It’ll be really good to see my boys Joel and Benji Madden on stage again. Happy Saturday, y’all!!

Exclusive: Inside The Private Rehearsal For Britney Spears’s The ‘Femme Fatale’ Tour

Posted: 11 Jun 2011 11:30 AM PDT

So last night I was among a very small number of people invited to the uberprivate friends and family rehearsal for Britney Spears‘s The Femme Fatale Tour which kicks off in Sacramento, CA next week. Altho last night’s rehearsal wasn’t a proper dress rehearsal, I got to see the FULL show from beginning to end with a select number of other people (including Britney‘s family as well as family and friends of the backup dancers). I don’t want to spoil too much of the show before it gets underway next week but some of the deets I’m gonna share below may be spoilerish … so if you want to remain completely surprised, read carefully.

OMG … last night was such an amazing experience … I don’t even know where to begin. Let’s start off with the setlist … there are 22 songs in the show with about 2 or 3 clips/snippets of other songs in the video segments. Now, not all of the video segments were shown to us so there may be more in the final production. I can tell you that Britney goes way back into her catalog for the setlist … back to her debut album Baby … One More Time. Obvsiously, she does the singles from Femme Fatale but she also performs 2 of the bonus tracks on the Deluxe version of Femme Fatale. There is an overriding theme of the show … Britney is being chased by a shadowy man and she appears in some of the video segments as a kind of spy (in fact the song 3 uses trench coats, sunglasses and fedoras as the costumes). In one of the video segments, the man chasing Britney refers to femme fatales thru history … and that historical element is incorporated in the show. There are HUGE vehicles on stage in different parts of the show. On the Femme Fatale Tour journey, Britney takes us on a ride by land, sea and air :) My fave number, I think, has to be Gimme More. It’s the first time she’s performed that song since 2007 and WAIT ’til you see the way it is staged. It’s a BIG number. The coolest and deffo most fun number of the show is Britney‘s upcoming 3rd single from Femme Fatale, I Wanna Go. During the show, Britney will pull members of the audience on stage to dance with her. Because there were only 7 of us in the audience (not counting the family and friends), WE were the ones pulled up on stage to dance with Britney. I kid you not, I GOT TO DANCE with Britney Spears on STAGE!!! It was a moment I will never, ever forget … the god’s honest truth. If YOU are one of the lucky folks brought up on stage, you will die … TRUST ME! There is another part of the show where an audience member will be brought on stage to participate in the show … during last night’s rehearsal, Britney‘s main man Jason Trawick was brought on stage as that lucky participant.

During the show, Britney does sing live. Yes there are backing tracks but there are parts of the show where it is very obvious that she is singing … and she sounded fantastic. She performs a classic ballad mid-way thru the show and it is very clear that she is singing that song live … and beautifully. The dancing that we saw was sharp and fun … she even busts out the original choreography during I’m A Slave 4 U. There are a couple of songs that have been remixed with new music … one with a snake charmer vibe, one with a loungey vibe. The finale is ‘Till the World Ends and it starts out like the album version … but then it kicks into the Nicki Minaj remix (Nicki was projected on the video screens as well) so my guess is that she will come out on stage to perform with Brit for that song. I can also tell you that Sabi appears on stage to perform during (Drop Dead) Beautiful. OH and WAIT ’til you see the way (Drop Dead) Beautiful is performed. If you thought that Madonna and Kylie Minogue pushed the envelope with male nudity in their stage shows … you ain’t seen nothing yet. TRUST ME ON THIS … wait ’til you see.

Some Pink readers have asked me to compare this tour show to or say if it is better than Britney‘s previous tours. I’ll say this … Britney Spears always puts on an amazing show. I’ve seen all of her tours and there are elements that stick out in my mind in each of those shows. Who can ever forget the way that Britney made it rain INSIDE ON STAGE during the Dream Within A Dream Tour? I can assure you, The Femme Fatale Tour will have elements that you will never forget. It’s not better or worse than any of Britney‘s other tours … it is another fabulously fun show that you simply MUST see in person to believe.

So … ok … that’s about all I want to share. The really exciting thing for me last night was the unknown … I was surprised and excited at every step along the way thru the show … I want YOU to experience the same thing. But, if you want MORE deets, head over to E! News HERE to hear what my friend Marc Malkin has to say about the show (he was not only at the rehearsal last night but he was my dance partner with Britney alone on our side of the stage):

Head over to BreathHeavy.com to hear what Jordan Miller has to say about the show, he was also at the rehearsal last night … as was a reporter from Just Jared. I cannot even express what a special thrill last night was for me. I have been such a big Britney fan since the beginning … and last night was just the culmination of all that love. Being able to be seated front row center — on a couch, no less — for a private rehearsal of arguably Britney‘s best concert tour ever is a treat I will never, ever forget. And boy, am I DYING to see it again here in LA on the 20th and in Anaheim on the 24th.

If you look hard enough, I’m sure you will be able to read all the secrets of this tour online … but I strongly urge you to wait and see it for yourselves. I was wowed at every single thing in this show. It is beyond fun … BEYOND! It was clear to me that Britney has been working really hard on this show … and her hard work has paid off. This show is hot, y’all. You’re going to LOVE it!

Tom Hanks Will Adapt Neil Gaiman’s ‘American Gods’ For HBO

Posted: 11 Jun 2011 10:01 AM PDT

Back in April we learned that plans were in the works to adapt the brilliant Neil Gaiman novel American Gods into a TV series for HBO … today we learn that it’s a done deal. Tom Hanks‘s production company, Playtone Productions, has acquired the rights to produce the novel for TV … but get this … it won’t merely be a single season show. The terms of the deal, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter, state that American Gods will be an “open ended 6-season series” with each season being comprised of 10-12 episodes! Wow!!

Tom Hanks' Playtone Productions is set to produce a six-season, open-ended series, American Gods, for HBO, based on Neil Gaiman's award-winning novel … The series-in-development, revolving around the question "are you a god if no one believes in you?" is executive produced by Goetzman and Hanks, with Bob Richardson, and Gaiman on board as executive producer and writer. Each of the six seasons will be of 10-12, hour-long episodes with a budget of around $35-40 million per season, targeted to debut on the cable powerhouse in 2013 at the earliest. Rich in religious folklore that spanned millennia and featuring deities from Greek and Nordic mythology, and even the Judeo-Christian monotheistic God making an appearance, in the contemporary U.S., American Gods will be effects-heavy to do justice to the awe-inspiring power of the divine beings. "There are some crazy things in there. We'll probably be doing more effects in there than it's been done on a television series," said Goetzman.

OMG this is AMAZING NEWS!!! And the best news of all is that Gaiman himself will be an executive producer AND writer!! Holy shizz … this deal couldn’t be better! I was really anticipating a single season series when news of the American Gods deal was first reported … but a 6-season series over 6 years? I can’t even deal … this is very exciting! American Gods is one of my fave novels and Neil Gaiman is my FAVE contemporary author … this is just the best news ever. I strongly urge those of you who are unfamiliar with Neil Gaiman‘s work to read his books … why not start with the 10th anniversary edition of American Gods? It’s a brilliant read. And in just a couple of years, it’ll be a brilliant TV series.

Happy 85th Birthday, Queen Elizabeth II

Posted: 11 Jun 2011 09:25 AM PDT

Altho Queen Elizabeth II celebrated her actual birthday back in April, the British monarch celebrated her 85th birthday today on her “official” birthday. In celebration, all of England reveled with the Queen for the annual Trooping the Colours national holiday. As you may recall, we saw photos last weekend of Prince William rehearsing for the big day today. Click below to see some photos of the Queen’s big day and read some deets from the celebration.

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge returned Saturday to the balcony at Buckingham Palace where just six weeks ago she and her new husband, Prince William, thrilled crowds (and millions of royal watchers around the world) by kissing twice on their wedding day. While eyes may have been on the newlyweds, Saturday’s appearance was all about William’s grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, who was honored with the “Trooping the Colour” ceremony, a celebration of the monarch’s official birthday. The event marked the 85th birthday of the Queen, who has reigned since 1952. Her first ceremonial event as the Duchess of Cambridge began when Catherine, wearing a double-breasted cream jacket and a black hat, made her way from Buckingham Palace to the Horse Guards Parade in Whitehall in a horse-drawn carriage, waving and smiling to the crowds on London’s Mall, much like she did on her wedding day. Except this time William was not by her side. He was participating as an honorary colonel on horseback. Sitting next to Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, Catherine chatted and giggled on the short journey with Prince Harry and Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, riding with them. As the mounted band played the national anthem and to cheers from the thousands that had gathered, the Queen appeared in a carriage alongside Prince Philip, while William rode the Household Division charger Wellesley behind them. It is the first time that William has taken part in the historical procession. Dressed in the red uniform of the Irish Guards, the same one he wore on his wedding day, he also wore the famous bearskin hat, making him almost unrecognizable. During the Horse Guards Parade, Catherine watched the Queen take the salute and review her immaculate troops as the Colour – a regimental flag – was paraded in the ceremony, which dates back to the 18th century.

Man … it’s been a great year for the British Royal Family, hasn’t it? It seems like every other weekend there is a huge royal event to celebrate. I realize they do the Trooping of the Colours every year but in the wake of Prince William and Kate‘s recent wedding, it seems like the British Royal Family is really running things. Who runs the world? Brits! But in all seriousness, let’s send our warmest Birthday Lurve to Queen Elizabeth (again) on her 85th birthday! The Queen still looks lively, spry and regal. Here’s to many more birthdays for Queen Liz :D

Lily Allen & Sam Cooper Got Hitched!

Posted: 11 Jun 2011 08:53 AM PDT

Congrats are in order for British singer Lily Allen and her loverman Sam Cooper because the pair were married in the village of Cranham in the English countryside earlier today. Lookin’ lovely as ever, Lily showed up at the church with the biggest smile on her face I think I’ve ever seen! Click below to see some photos of the bride and groom and read some deets about their nuptials.

Lily Allen has something to smile about. The singer, 26, married Sam Cooper at St. James the Great Church in Gloucestershire, England, on Saturday. Dressed in a gown with long lace sleeves and a fishtail skirt by French designer Delphine Manivet, the bride carried a bouquet of white roses as she made her way out of the church with her new husband to a waiting car as a crowd cheered. Allen’s father, Keith Allen, gave her away, according to British paper The Telegraph … On Friday, Allen and Cooper were spotted arriving at the church for their rehearsal. Allen’s dad, an actor and musician, was also spotted with a ukulele – perhaps planning to serenade the happy couple. Cooper, a decorator and business owner, popped the question during a romantic getaway last Christmas.

As you may recall, back in March the Save the Date card for Lily and Sam‘s wedding was leaked to the press … so we knew this happy day was coming. I really love Lily Allen. She has been thru some hard stuff recently so it’s really fantastic to see her looking so happy! Here’s to the newlyweds … may they live a long and very happy life together. Let’s send them all our love and congrats today!! Woot!!
