Robin Wright May Star In Netflix's FIRST Original Series House Of Cards

Posted: 12 Jun 2011 12:40 PM PDT

Robin Wright

A few months ago we talked about Netflix's first original series directed by David Fincher and starring Kevin Spacey, which the company acquired by outbidding television networks like HBO and AMC with a $100 million commitment.

House of Cards, the 26-episode political thriller based off of a British miniseries of the same name, may have found its leading lady too!

Robin Wright is in talks to star alongside Spacey in the series slated to begin filming in the Spring of 2012.

This is definitely huge and we can see this changing the entertainment landscape forever if the show is successful.

Based off of David Fincher's track record, it's pretty hard to believe it WON'T be successful.

Plus, Netflix has over 20 million subscribers, many of which choose the online based entertainment over cable. We're sure 20 million people wouldn't mind some original programming!

Since it only costs $8 bucks a month for the most basic service, we can see a lot of people subscribing for the original programming on top of their cable bill too!

Do U think this may be the beginning of a new era for television shows?

Boom, da boom boom, boom da boom boom, boom they love that Super 8!

LOLz! Sorry, every time we hear the name of that movie, we think of Her Minajesty's HAWT track!

But we digress.

The J.J. Abrams directed sci-fi flick, which was also produced by Steven Spielberg, reportedly grossed an estimated $12.1 million at the Friday box office, and is predicted to surpass $35 million for the entire weekend, including Thursday preview screenings!

That's pretty impressive, especially considering no one knew what the eff it was about, and still went anyway!

Guess J.J. has still got it!

Well done, sir!

Main Man Records Responds To Joan Jett And Cherie Currie Lawsuit!

They're gonna put up a fight!

In light of Joan Jett and Cherie Currie's lawsuit against Main Man Records for attempting to release a tribute album in homage to their band, The Runaways, called Take It Or Leave It: A Tribute to the Queens of Noise, without their permission, the record label has responded, claiming that the recording was made "with the best of intentions," and the proceeds were to raise funds for cancer research!

Furthermore, the label has yet to receive a copy of the suit, but plans to fight it when it comes.

Frankly, regardless of what the intentions were, if they don't have their permission, we don't see what makes them think it's okay to put this out!

What do U think?? Should this album get released?

Glee Producers Still Want The Boss!

Posted: 12 Jun 2011 12:00 PM PDT

We guess they haven't forgotten about him!

Way back in 2010, we heard rumblings that the producers of Glee wanted to not only do a Bruce Springsteen tribute episode, but that they wanted to get The Boss himself to guest-star as Finn's uncle. Well, apparently, writer Ian Brennan hasn't forgotten about this, and recently revealed that the singer is still on their wish-list for future guest stars!

According to the interview:

Who would you love to have?

Bruce Springsteen as a motivational speaker.

Have you ever contacted him?

No, we are still on hiatus, and we won't start writing for another couple of weeks. We have sat down and talked a little bit about where we want the show to go but we haven't written anything yet.

Ha! We actually like that idea more than Finn's uncle!

Here's hoping that they can work it in somehow without it feeling completely forced!

And check out the rest of the interview, including his thoughts on some of the characters graduating, a newbie coming in from The Glee Project, and where he wants the third season to go…AFTER THE JUMP!

Are you going to change any of the cast in season three?

We aren't going to change the entire cast, but some of the cast will graduate. I just think we would be missing a beat if we didn't acknowledge the fact that a huge part of high school is graduating from high school, and that's going to give us a lot of stuff to write to in season three. Every time we bring in a new character it's worked out really well, we've been very fortunate. We get to sort of start new—we get to bring in new characters and write new storylines. That was one of the big surprises of season two, the new characters just seemed like they had been there together forever. So bringing in new characters will allow us a little more flexibility and will add to the longevity of the show.

Do you have any specific types of characters in mind that you'd like to introduce next season?

The reality show has cast a character that is very exciting. I can't even tell you whether it's a guy or a girl, but we are very, very excited about the prospect of bring on this new person. It going to be really, really good, and totally interesting something we had totally not thought of. This person coming onto the show is going to add a really, really, funny dynamic. But there's all kinds and that's what I think is exciting about the show, it's sort of a naturally diverse cast. By doing a show about an American high school you get all types thrown in, and we want to continue in that tradition.

Are they going to win Nationals next season?

I don't know, maybe. I think they should compete internationally. Maybe we'll have them compete in Paris or something.

Is it hard to keep the show fresh?

Yes, just the volume you have to write and doing a new episode every eight days is a lot. There's just the three of us, and we've written 44 scripts now which is pretty unheard of in network television. We throw out a lot of ideas because we don't think they're fresh enough, and that's the thing at the forefront of our mind—just to keep it funny and emotional and not boring. Those are the three things we think about all the time. And it is hard and there are usually three or four episodes every season which aren't as good as the others. But then the converse of that is you'll have four or five episodes that are really great. There will be scenes that I'll watch in postproduction and the hair on my neck will just sort of stick up and that doesn't happen to me on other network shows I watch. I love that about the show.

Is there any formula that you use when writing—like do you need a certain number of songs each episode?

That is something we struggle with, how many songs to have in each episode. We have had as few as two songs and the episode has worked, and we've had as many as 10 and the episode has worked, and in other shows it feels like there are too few or too many and that's something we've yet to figure out. What you don't want to do is have the music scene just arbitrary, where they're just singing suddenly for some reason. Integrating the songs into the story the best we can is always the challenge. I, for one, would like to do a show with no music…we can't because of the nature of the show, but I think it would be interesting.

You may have noticed we usually have a song before the first commercial break and that's something we learned. We have had shows where we didn't do that and it just wasn't right. We'd look at it and say "What is wrong with this? Something just isn't right." And that's something you never could have guessed—that you have to have a song in the first 10 pages of the script. So there is a learning curve. Part of what is exciting about the show is we didn't have a formula, there was no musical show that had worked in decades and so we just started from scratch.

And so as writers we just continued to find our way. We'll try stuff out and we'll try to push boundaries. In the second season we thought, wow, what can we do to keep this interesting, even structurally, and I think some people like that and some people don't. But we are constantly trying to keep it interesting in a fundamental way from keeping it from turning into something you tune into and say, "Yup, it's the singing kids." We just want it to be more than that.

Elsewhere today you said you share a certain worldview with Sue (Jane Lynch)—which is a little disconcerting. Can you explain what you mean?

I think everybody has a mean side and I didn't realize it, but I have just a biting sense of humor sometimes. I am very nice, I think I'm affable—but I'll also have these very mean thoughts all the time. I think what's so great about that character is you get to write the meanest thing you can. And she's not the only mean character—Santana (Naya Rivera) is super, super mean. But somehow it works. In the context of such joy and happiness you need that voice to cut against the sweetness of it. You need those characters to be more cynical than the most cynical viewers, so you've outcynicalled your audience. It's our way of winking to our audience, saying, "We know this is a crazy world, just enjoy it, we'll make fun of ourselves so you don't have to."

Was Kelsey's Daughter Attempting To Spy On Camille At Their Hawaiian Vacation Home?

Posted: 12 Jun 2011 11:40 AM PDT

Ah! Now it makes sense!

Camille Grammer is currently at war over the custody of her children with ex-husband Kelsey Grammer, and over the week, her lawyers filed a motion to ban family or friends from spending time at their numerous vacation homes during the proceedings…and it seems that's because she fears that the actor's eldest daughter, Spencer Grammer, may be acting as a spy!

According to legal documents, Kelsey had asked Spencer and her husband to vacation at his home in Hawaii, where Camille has been staying with her children, and she believes that the proceedings have gotten so bitter that she's afraid his daughter would use the opportunity to take confidential divorce documents on her dad's behalf!

Ugh! Disgusting!

We'd normally think that Camille may be overreacting, but after the news that Kelsey only wanted custody of his son…we wouldn't put anything past him, at this point!

Such a horrible shame that it's come to this.

Here's hoping this whole mess can be resolved, and quickly, so they can all just return to their lives.

T.I. Writes Another Letter From Prison!

ti-writes-new-letter-from-prison

Only a few more months!

T.I. is currently serving an 11-month stint behind bars in Arkansas for violating his probation, and recently decided to kill some time behind bars by writing this thoughtful message that has since been posted on his website!

He writes:

What up world? Been a minute. I'd like to thank you all for the thousands of letters, cards, books, pictures and words of encouragement. I'm truly grateful. I'm sure you already know I'm nearing the end of this chapter of my life, and looking forward to taking all of the things I've learned with me while leaving all the rest of the "BS" behind. I've been tuned in somewhat to what's been happening out there. I can't even begin to tell y'all how much being on the outside looking in, having to witness all that's going on (and not going on) in the game affects me. Not being able to do what I love especially. It's like a whole other sentence within itself. But I really do appreciate all the love, respect, shout outs and salutations during this very difficult period in my life. Everybody from da homies Weezy, Killa Mike, R. Rozay my lil bruh B.o.B, Terrence J (106 & Park) and my "durty" Nelly. Regardless of whether the gestures were the greatest or the smallest, they still meant the world to me. REAL TALK. The separation from my art has definitely sparked an inferno of inspiration that will soon be felt by all. As a matter of fact, to show my appreciation to those that have been in support of me and granted the requests of TEAM T.I. I'll be releasing a record in the near future (couple of weeks tops) to hold y'all over til I get back in action. During this time of seclusion I have developed a mind full of thoughts, ideas, plans and strategies of change to incorporate into my professional endeavors, as well as my personal lifestyle. But none of them is as strong as my determination to conquer my own imperfections and my will to WIN NO MATTER WHAT!!!

I love, respect and appreciate all those who have stood beside me and I have accepted those you didn't. But one things for sure and two for certain. As long as the Most High blesses me with the ability to live and breathe….My campaign will continue!!! Stronger, smarter, bigger and better than ever. For those that doubt that…See me when they free me.

Love King

Well, well, well!

Time in the big house has made him pensive, hasn't it?

We appreciate the thoughtfulness behind his words here, and hopefully this means that once he's out, he'll be STAYING OUT for good this time!

Hang in there!

And we can't wait to hear the new material!

Such true, powerful, and inspiring words!

She's never moved us more!

Lady GaGa performed for thousands last night at Rome's EuroPride rally last night, performing acoustic versions of her gay rights anthem, Born This Way, and Edge Of Glory at the ancient Circus Maximus, but it was her 15-minute speech promoting the end wordwide discrimination against the LGBT community that truly touched us!

Check out both the performance and the words of hope and inspiration (above)!

We cannot commend her enough for using her success as a platform to bring light to such an important issue!

Oooh! We're intrigued! We want to see the original now! Nexflixing it up!

Chris Colombus, the helmer of the first Harry Potter movies, has acquired the film rights through his company, 1492 Pictures, to remake Troll Hunter. The original movie is actually a Norweigan mockumentary about three college students who discover that bad-ass, evil trolls actually exist!

Wowza! Such a nerdy discovery! LOLZ!

Think U might want to see this? Think Chris will do the original justice?
