Hilary Duff’s very tight short dress: pregnancy pass or what was she thinking?

Posted: 15 Nov 2011 09:01 AM PST

wenn3611199
When I first saw the thumbnails for this photo set I thought I was looking at a woman crammed into a too-tight dress. From far away, from the front, that’s what it looks like. It wasn’t until I saw the photos on Evil Beet that I realized I was looking at a pregnant Hilary Duff crammed into a too-tight lime green sequin dress. (There are more photos here) This is not a flattering look for her at all, and I think pregnancy passes should be reserved for shapeless shifts, but at least she’s trying to switch it up. I love this color too, but as an accent piece or a shirt that pops not as a whole dress! Still, she’s going for bold and she’s knocked up and loving it. Plus she looks cute and like she has a devoted husband in hockey player Mike Comrie. (Not so much here, but in the other photos.)

wenn3611207
Hilary was attending the launch of The Beauty Book, which features photos of celebrities with proceeds to go to brain cancer research. So she’s doing a good thing here, even as a shiny bright green fashion miss.

wenn3611211
From what I can find, Hilary is probably around six months along. She made the announcement in mid August and if she waited a traditional three months first she would be six months’ pregnant now. Hilary is only 24! I know a lot of people know her as the kid from Disney’s Lizzie McGuire, but I honestly thought she was at least 28 or so. Still, she seems grounded and like she’ll make a good mom. You know she’ll do a baby photo spread if one of the magazines will have her.

Lea Michele covers Allure, dismisses eating disorder and diva rumors

Posted: 15 Nov 2011 08:52 AM PST

lea5

Lea Michele covers the December issue of Allure Magazine, likely to promote both Glee and her supporting part in New Year's Eve, that ensemble rom-com from hell. Can we just have a word about how hideous this cover and photo shoot are? ROUGH. I think it's the hair - it dates her. She looks like a jittery, annoying wife at a church bake sale, circa 1974. The interview is predictable - Lea is full of herself, walking the line between "genuine confidence" and "egomaniacal diva-monster". The Allure slideshow is here, and here are some excerpts:

Lea is confident in her unconventional beauty. “Have I been asked to change anything? Uh-huh. Uh-huh. When I was 15, my mother and I went to meet a manager who said, ‘You have to get a nose job in order for me to work with you.' My mother would say to me, ‘Barbra Streisand never got a nose job. You’re not getting a nose job.’ And this was before I really even knew who Barbra was. I just knew that she was, like, the messiah for girls like me.”

Lea on the rumors that she's a diva: Michele has heard the stories of her diva-like behavior. At a Time magazine party, when a photographer asked who she was, she reportedly replied, “Sarah Palin”—a remark that was taken to be a snotty “Don’t you know who I am?” “I was being silly,” Michele says. “But anyway, that’s a huge thing I learned…. Not everybody knows you and has the same sense of humor. At the same time, if I couldn’t be myself, I’d lose my mind. I came from the theater world, where the word ‘diva’ was awesome. But it’s different in Los Angeles. And this all happened to me so quickly. But I came to L.A., and the first audition I went on was for Glee. And I was on the show two months later and had a very different life.”

Eating disorder rumors: Like many young actresses in the spotlight, Michele became the subject of eating-disorder rumors when she suddenly looked very thin during the summer of 2010. Not so, she says—the weight loss was due to a surgery she had because of an infection in her jaw. “I’m half Italian,” says the actress. “I can eat some bitches under the table.”

The controversial GQ shoot with Terry Richardson: Last year, Michele and Dianna Agron wore sexy schoolgirl outfits and posed provocatively with their Glee costar Cory Monteith. The photos caused an enormous scandal, but Michele defends them vigorously. “People were really offended by this, being that we play high-school students,” she says. “But we’re not high-school students! Cory is almost 30, and Dianna and I are 25. But there was such controversy. I do try to keep in mind that there are a lot of young viewers watching our show. But it’s a delicate balance, continuing to be who you are but also remembering you’re in a certain position. But would I do the shoot again? Absolutely.”

Her Broadway past: At 20, Michele was a part of the original Broadway cast of Spring Awakening. Her role required her and her costar Jonathan Groff to simulate making love onstage every night. “Every night he dropped his pants and I took off my top. So depending on where you were seated—on one side of us or the other—people who were going to see the show would be like, ‘What side were you sitting on? The butt or the boobs?’”

Lea wants to be just like Dame Gwyneth Paltrow: Gwyneth has been a valuable teacher when it comes to ignoring the haters. Paltrow has had her share of “she’s a bitch” assumptions. “I don’t know what people are smoking, because this woman is one of the most talented, beautiful, smart but laid-back, cool people I’ve worked with,” Michele says. “That’s what I hate about this business. Before I met her, I was intimidated because of her image. But she’s the greatest.”

[From Allure]

Where to start? Well, last year Lea claimed that she lost so much weight because she had gone vegan. And now we have another "reason". It's not important to me anymore because she looks like she gained some much-needed weight back, and it looks good on her. Next: the diva stuff. OF COURSE she worships Gwyneth. Peas in a pod, birds of a monstrous feather. I found this quote disturbing though - "I came from the theater world, where the word ‘diva’ was awesome." I've heard descriptions of what a pill Lea was when she was on Broadway, so if she was being called a "diva" back then, they weren't saying it as a compliment. Someone just needs to sit her down and say, "It's not that we 'don't get' your sense of humor. You're full of yourself and annoying and it turns people off. The end."

Michael Fassbender is politically incorrect: “There’s some element of gypsy in me”

Posted: 15 Nov 2011 08:19 AM PST

fp_7825467_api_adangerousmethod_photocall_12_30

My fellow Fass-loonie at Pop Sugar, Allison, sent me her most recent video interview with Michael Fassbender as he continues to endlessly promote A Dangerous Method and Shame and Haywire. Allison famously (in my mind) got Fassie to say one of my favorite things ever while he was promoting X-Men: First Class - something about how he's a ginger and all gingers come from Viking stock. He was basically saying that he's a big Viking and we should love his big, gingery Viking dong. In this new interview - in which Allison gets to sit next to Fassie (she said he smells like coffee) - for A Dangerous Method, Fassie talks about how professional Keira Knightley is and how he likes the actor's life. His actual words - "there’s some element of gypsy in me anyway.” That's not really politically correct to call yourself a gypsy, but there you have it: Michael Fassbender, ginger gypsy Viking. HOT.

Go-karting? Meh. But he loves cares and motorcycles and anything that makes a lot of noise and goes fast, so I guess it makes sense.

By the way, Fassie has about a million projects lined up because he's the It Dude of the moment as far as "the actor most directors want to cast." Everybody is on the Fassdong Train! I'm not sure how I feel about that, honestly. Fassie has made a series of really smart career decisions, and I worry that now that he's being offered anything and everything, he's just going to say "yes" to some projects he really shouldn't. Like Robocop. Yes, Hollywood is considering a reboot of the Robocop franchise, and they're looking at Fassie for it. Well, the director wants him, and when Fassie was asked about it, he said:

"You know, I'm always open. I'll take a look at the script and sit down with the director and have a conversation. It's not definitely like, 'Oh, I've got to play RoboCop before I retire.' I don't have that about anything. I don't go, 'I have to play the Dane one day, or Hamlet.' I don't really think like that. I just wait and see what comes up, and I'm always open to it. If I react to the script, then I'm up for anything. … It could be kind of fun. It could be kind of good to have a helmet that I could hide behind, for most of the film, too. That sounds kind of appealing.”

[Via Reelz]

Helmet?!?!? He already has his face covered for Magneto, don't make him cover it for another movie! Noooooooooo. Srsly, though, NO ROBOCOP.

Kim Kardashian covers Marie Claire, talks about her life pre-divorce

Posted: 15 Nov 2011 07:43 AM PST

december-2011-kim-kardashian

I feel so bad for the editors of Marie Claire. They got Kim Kardashian for their December cover, and the interview was apparently conducted a few weeks before Kim filed for divorce. So there are lots of quotes from Kim about how happy she is with Kris Humphries and how well she knows herself and all of that, but there was still enough time in editorial for the writer to include that "In late October, it was announced that Kim would file for divorce, just 72 days after she and Kris tied the knot." If I was the editor over there, I might be tempted to simply redo the issue with another (emergency) cover girl. I suspect that Kim made an enemy out of Marie Claire for the way she screwed them over for this cover story. Anyway, here is the full story and here are some of the highlights. In retrospect, it's fun to laugh at how Kim was so full of herself.

When asked about how much her wedding cost… Kim smiles demurely, “I don’t talk about money.”

Why Kim made her wedding a circus: “I felt like if I didn’t show the wedding, it would be upsetting for people who have taken this journey with me."

Why Kim married Kris so quickly: “We felt like, ‘Why wait?’” she explains. “It’s fun to have a partner who understands your life and lets you be you. Sometimes my life can be really intimidating for people, but he allows me to work and do what I've gotta do."

On Kris Humphries: "I'm not worried about him at all. We have a lot of trust, and I don't think either of us would do anything to break that. It makes life so easy. He's such a good guy; he is so down-to-earth, and it's such a reality check. He is a normal guy, and I just want to chill out and be normal and not get glammed up all the time. He gets it.

On her first marriage to Damon Thomas: “I was 19, and I didn’t know myself,” she says. “As unhappy as I was, and as happy as I am now not to be in that relationship, I learned so much from it: who I wanted to be, who I never wanted to be — you take all those issues and move on.” She smiles brightly. “I learned how to cook and do a lot of marital things. It definitely taught me what being a wife is all about. I think it means taking care of each other’s needs and being there for someone unconditionally.”

On the family's reality shows: "We made a pact as a family and said we would be truly authentic because people don't buy bulls–t. We'll just be who we are, and – love it or hate it – we have each other. I think that's what makes it so relatable, because we are not afraid to show crazy things."

[From Marie Claire]

She's such a dumbass. I guess it's one of those situations where "Stars: They're Just Like Us!" I know people who are all patronizing and full of themselves once they get married, and they make pronouncements about how this is the happiest they've ever been and they recommend marriage to everyone, and WHY AREN'T YOU MARRIED TOO WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU? And those are the people who always end up with the crappy marriages that end in divorce. Kim is one of those people.

Nikki Reed on Twilight cast: “We’re not all best friends, we’re not all hanging out”

Posted: 15 Nov 2011 07:33 AM PST

nikkireedseventeen1
Of all the Twilight girls, I like Nikki Reed the best. She just married that Chris Kattan-looking American Idol contestant, and she seems pretty happy with him. Plus she does red carpets and she gets papped occasionally, but she doesn’t seem to be up her own ass or full of herself like Ashley Greene. Nikki is happy to be a secondary player, and she’s happy to share the spotlight. Ashley Greene once implied in an obnoxious Allure interview that the cast of Twilight was close. She said “All of us essentially were unknown. So everyone kind of went through this crazy whirlwind [together]. It was really nice to be able to confide in people who were going through the exact same thing.” Only if that was true it didn’t really last, according to Nikki Reed. In a new interview with Seventeen, Reed says that while the cast was initially close they were eventually driven apart by “fame.” I wonder if she has anyone specific in mind.

On the Twilight cast, behind the scenes: "In the beginning, it was innocent and fun, and we were like one big happy family – it was like being sleepaway camp. And then success comes along and changes the dynamic. We're not all best friends, and we're not all going to hang out together after the final movie is done."

On people's misconceptions of her:
"I got typecast as a party girl when Thirteen first came out. The funny thing was, I was a virgin, I didn't do drugs and I barely drank."

[From Seventeen]

Nikki Reed is 23. Thirteen came out in 2003, which means she was 15 when it came out. So the fact that she was not on drugs like her character, was a virgin and “barely drank” at 15 shouldn’t be remarkable at all.

As for her comments on the cast, Kaiser thinks Nikki could be referring to Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson. There were rumors that Nikki dated Kristen’s now-boyfriend, Robert Pattinson, briefly before Kristen hooked up with him. Nikki has denied that. There were also stories about how Nikki was friends with Kristen’s last boyfriend, Michael Angarano, whom Kristen seems to have ditched for Robert. Plus Nikki used to call Kristen her “best friend” in 2009, but then said in 2010 that “Kristen does her own thing” when it comes to hanging out with the rest of the cast.

Here’s Nikki in sea green Marchesa at the Breaking premiere. I love shades of green, but I really dislike the color of this dress, which looks too pastel to me. The foil-like sequin piping looks cheap too. At least the cut of the dress is pretty and elegant and I love her shoes! I also like that Nikki didn’t pose on the red carpet with her new husband, Paul McDonald.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan is still with his “secret” baby-mama Hilarie Burton

Posted: 15 Nov 2011 07:12 AM PST

wenn3611129

About two years ago, something really sketchy went down with Jeffrey Dean Morgan. He had been dating Mary-Louise Parker and they seemed really tight and really sexy, and then suddenly their relationship seemed to skid out of control. They suddenly became very "off and on" and they finally seemed to end circa fall/winter 2009. MLP quickly found a new piece, who she's been with ever since. But many people think that the reason JDM and MLP's relationship got so sketchy so fast was because Jeffrey had some kind of relationship with CW chick Hilarie Burton, and Hilarie got pregnant two seconds into their relationship/affair. Hilarie gave birth to JDM's son in Spring of 2010, and she walked one red carpet with him shortly after giving birth. The whole "secret baby" thing was real - Hilarie "went into hiding" for months, and she and Jeffrey only confirmed the birth of the kid months later, and even then, Hilarie won't even confirm the name of their son.

Last night, Hilarie and JDM walked their second red carpet together within a year at the premiere of Breaking Dawn. I guess we're supposed to think that they're still together, then. That they're a happy little family and that she tamed him and his wandering dong? I used to dislike Hilarie on principle, and while I still think she's a ball of sketchiness, I grew to like her character on White Collar. Whatever, though - it's so weird to me that Hilarie and JDM are still together, at least publicly. Weird couple.

PS… How f–king good does JDM look in these photos? This man is delicious. Completely random and probably douchey about women, but he's FINE.

Brad Pitt: “I wasn’t actually putting an exact deadline on my expiration date”

Posted: 15 Nov 2011 06:41 AM PST

wenn3610493

These are new photos of Brad Pitt arriving in Seoul, South Korea, and then attending a press conference and a premiere solo - no Angie! Shall we talk about his look? I'm getting so tired of the shades. Brad thinks he's Jack Nicholson these days, like his shades are his signature. It makes me wonder if he's self-conscious about his eyes, which really so show his age (and no, I don't think he's had eye work - his eyes look 40-something). But! I do like Brad in all-black, which he wore during each promotional stop. It makes me think that Angelina is dressing him, and I like the idea of Angie packing his bag. I especially like the way he looks in that black button-down. Mm, nice. His hair is a problem, though. I don't mind the length so much (I like some long-haired dirtbags, so it's fine), but the overall grooming is too lacking. I feel like Brad needs a good shower and some hair product.

Yesterday, we talked about Brad's recent statements to an Australian TV show in which he seemed to be saying that he would be quitting acting in three years' time, likely to spend more time producing and being a dad. During the press conference in Seoul, Brad corrected himself:

Brad Pitt, who is in Seoul to promote his movie, “Moneyball,” explained that he saw himself retiring from his acting career to focus on producing.

“I wasn’t actually putting an exact deadline on my expiration date [in Australia's 60 Minutes interview], but I see it coming. I just have other interests and I do quite enjoy the production side,” he said.

He also added that given the choice, he would take the wisdom that comes with ageing, over youth.

“Me, personally I like ageing. With age comes wisdom and I have said it before and I say it again, I will take wisdom over youth any day. I think certainly, being a father has changed everything for me as far as perspective and interest, taking care of myself and wanting to be around for them,” he said.

[From The Telegraph]

I really like "I will take wisdom over youth any day." I don't particularly feel the same way (I wouldn't mind having my youth back, personally), but I appreciate that Brad is happy where is, and that he feels like his journey has been worth it to get where he is. As for his career and whether it will end… meh. I think he was just chatting, and he didn't mean it as a major announcement or anything. Whatever.

Kristen Stewart, loved up in sparkly J. Mendel: beautiful or busted?

Posted: 15 Nov 2011 06:41 AM PST

wenn3610413

Here are the real stars of last night's Breaking Dawn premiere, the most photographed actors on the red carpet, real-life and on-screen lovers and the objects of desire, fanaticism and loathing: Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. Let me start with Kristen. She wore this blue-purple-black J. Mendel that I'm not in love with. I don't hate it, and I actually like the blue-purple color on Kristen a lot. The cut of the dress is kind of bad, and it looks rather cheap to me. I think it has something to do with the too-high slit and how hundreds of Twihards probably saw Bella's vadge on the red carpet when she walked a certain way - what's with Kristen and her vadge-high slits and too-short miniskirts? Why is she determined to show us her biscuits? The slit is also bad because you can see a lot of the lining, and the material looks tacky and cheap.

wenn3610813

Now I'll say something nice - her makeup looks good. Her posture is improving somewhat. She's still pretty slouchy, but she's evolving it into a more model-pose slouch. And I love that ring she's wearing on her left hand - it's gorgeous.

wenn3610877

As for Sparkles… he was slouching more than Kristen! I think because he's so tall, and he didn't want to tower over Kristen as they posed together on the red carpet. His suit was meh, his hair was a mess! I didn't like her hair either - it was not a good hair night for either of them. And Sparkles really, really needs to work on not making those dumb expressions when he's being photographed.

wenn3610418

This was the friendliest I've ever seen them on a red carpet, by the way. Usually, they only pose together for a little bit and then they invite Taylor Lautner over so it's a creepy threesome pose. Maybe it's the time they've spent apart, maybe Kristen has just accepted that she has a cute British boyfriend, whatever it is, they looked more coupley than I've ever seen.

Pippa Middleton ordered by the royal family to keep a lower profile

Posted: 15 Nov 2011 06:41 AM PST

fp_8111434_big_middletonpippa_outabout_05_13

Yesterday, we discussed Pippa Middleton's breakup, and the current round of rumors claiming that it was her old-money boyfriend Alex Loudon who did the dumping, because his family didn't approve of such a new-money, good-time-girl "celebutante" even considering entering their fold. The story inspired a lot of conversation, and at the end of the day, I'm still kind of rooting for Pippa. Yes, she's kind of a famewhore and yes, everybody knows that she's trying to "uptradey" her way into the best marriage with the most titled and moneyed aristocrat she can find. But I find myself admiring her hustle and her ability to work for everything she gets. If even half of that stuff in yesterday's report was true, than Alex Loudon is a douche and Pippa could do much better. Duke of Northumberland better.

Anyway, The Mail has a follow-up story on the whole "Pippa got dumped" thing. I should mention that the British papers are just so desperate for Pippa to "happen" that they kind of miss the real story - that the future queen's sister just got dumped she’s sad and it has nothing to do with her famous ass made of lies. And of course, they're not talking about what this story really means - how can the royal family "order" Pippa to do anything?

She’s one of the most eligible women in the country. So it must have come to a great disappointment to party planners when Pippa Middleton pulled out of a glamorous City event at the last minute.

The Duchess of Cambridge’s sister was due to attend the Square Mile Masked Ball this month. But following orders from Clarence House to keep a low profile, she has cancelled, the London Evening Standard reported.

The party, taking place on November 25th at the Royal Courts of Justice, is a charity event in aid of the the Mayor’s Fund for London. There will also be an after-party at Bungalow 8.

If the brunette did attend, it is likely her presence would generate world media attention. But friends are said to have claimed she has been told to stay out of the spotlight following her break-up from Alex Loudon. The pair reportedly split last week after a one and a half year relationship.

According to a friend of both Alex and Pippa, the 31-year-old former England cricketer could no longer cope with the 'circus' that accompanies his girlfriend everywhere she goes.

The friend said: 'The plain truth is Alex adored Pippa but he couldn't stand the circus that now surrounds her. Nothing is straightforward anymore.'

Inordinately private, with impeccable manners, the Old Etonian simply hated the attention . . . attention that Pippa appears to rather enjoy.

Another family friend said: 'Pippa sees the connection with the Royal Family as a golden opportunity but she knows she cannot afford to look vulgar. She now gets invited to every show in town, every door is open to her but Alex hates parties. He loves his cricket and has a very close-knit circle of Old Etonian friends. Alex comes from a very well-to-do and discreet family who do not relish the spotlight. He hated the fact they were followed by paparazzi and he avoided going out because of it. Alex is very strait-laced. He loves his family and his friends and has no time for celebrity.’

An official Clarence House spokesman refused to comment.

[From The Mail]

Perhaps it was less of an "order" by Clarence House and more of a "royal suggestion". How does that even work? Clarence House is code for Prince Charles, by the way - not the Queen. I hope the Queen has more important things to do with her time than worry about Pippa Middleton. But perhaps Charles and William and Kate worry that Pippa's public uptradey act will start to look desperate? To that I say… that's a bit rich considering Pippa's sister basically did nothing for nine years while she waited for William to propose, which to me still reeks of desperation. I'd much rather a girl in her 20s to be out on the town, dating, having fun, working, making professional and personal contacts and living her life than sitting around perfecting her geisha routine.

So what's the future for Pippa? Will Kate continue to thwart her little sister's ambitions for a smart, wealthy marriage? Will the royal family attempt to pull rank on the Middleton family in the months and years to come? Is Pippa the weak link? Or is she the most strong-willed Middleton?

Was it inappropriate for Willow Smith to see Breaking Dawn?

Posted: 15 Nov 2011 06:10 AM PST

wenn3611155

Willow Smith is 11 years old. Is that too young to see Breaking Dawn Part 1? I've seen the trailer, and there seems to be a lot of "thrusting" going on in the movie, so maybe it's inappropriate for 11 year olds? If you couldn't tell, Willow was at the Breaking Dawn premiere, and it doesn't seem like she was there with either or her parents. Maybe she was with an older cousin or something…? Maybe she only walked the red carpet and then went home? I'm trying to think if I was allowed to see movies with thrusting when I was 11 years old. Probably - my parents let me watch whatever I wanted, and look at me now. A dong-obsessed *mutter mutter* year old. Would Willow be the same?

Regardless of whether it was appropriate for Willow to even be at this premiere, what do you think of her outfit? And don't start yelling and saying mean things about a kid. I tend to think that much like Lady Gaga, Willow is finding it difficult, at the ripe old age of 11, to maintain the crazy outfits and the "new looks" for each new appearance. This outfit didn't even seem like she was trying to be the pint-sized Gaga or Nicki Minaj. The gold boots are pretty righteous, though.

Willow is really starting to look like her dad, right? She's a combination of her parents - she got her mom's almond-shaped eyes (gorgeous), and then everything else looks like Will.
