We didn't have photos of Christina Aguilera at the American Music Awards yesterday, because Christina didn't pose on the red carpet or anything. She was probably getting hammered in her dressing room. Anyway, the big moment for Christina was when she came out to sing "Moves Like Jagger" with Maroon 5, and everybody was slightly taken aback by Christina's figure, clad in a shiny white Herve Leger bandage dress. I've screen capped it a little bit, but you should totally watch the video – everything past 2:10 has Christina:
Like, her boobs are hanging out so much that I'm pretty sure we're seeing some areola. And I guess Christina didn't feel like wearing Spanx? My guess is that she was probably out there, commando, showing her makeup-stained biscuits to the front row.
Anyway, we've been talking about Christina's weight gain ("booze bloat") for a while now. I'm not yelling at Christina because she dared to gain some weight, but I will yell at her for looking like she's spent most of this year drowning her sorrows in Scotch and orange foundation. And I'll yell at her for wearing the wrong kinds of clothes to go with her new, fuller figure. But none of that matters because Christina thinks she looks great:
Christina Aguilera isn't model thin and she doesn't care!
The 30-year-old superstar performed at the American Music Awards Sunday night and RadarOnline.com has photos of her in a skin tight sparkling Herve Leger dress.
Critics have slammed the singer's robust figure, even saying she looked pregnant, but she doesn't let that bother her.
"Christina loves her curves," a friend close to the singer exclusively told RadarOnline.com. "She is not pregnant! She's a Latina woman with curves and since when is it not ok to have curves?"
Recently photographed looking like she's put on a few pounds, Christina has told her friends that she is "proud" of her body.
"She feels like she is setting an example for women and young girls, especially Latinas. She's very proud of her curves. Christina thinks she is a good role model – not everyone is super skinny and she wants girls to embrace their body type."
Christina told her friends that she will continue wearing revealing dresses.
"It's not what you look like in a dress, it is how you feel and it is about owning your dress. If you want to wear a tight dress then own it. She says you need to be happy in your own skin the way she is happy in hers."
It's somewhat clever to use her weight gain/booze bloat as some kind of feminist, pro-curves rallying cry. I'm also enjoying the implicit "SHE MEANT TO DO THAT" argument, although I don't buy it for a second. Christina is getting older, her metabolism is slowing down, and she can't drink like she used to without all of those empty liquor calories piling on. And she would go on a diet, but she's just too drunk. This Radar story was the equivalent of Christina slurring out, "Doncha think imma sessy?" before passing out in her martini.

Catherine Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas had a date night last night at a charity event to honor Michael’s dad, Kirk Douglas. Kirk is still kicking at 94, and from the looks of this photo below I might say he’s still checking out his daughter in-laws tatas, but he’s just hunched over and seems to be looking at Michael. It’s a funny photo either way.
Zeta-Jones wore this plunging long black v-neck sequin gown, which is similar in style to other dressesshe’s worn to events this year. She loves long, elegant gowns and this look works well for her.
Here’s more on the event:
Catherine Zeta Jones turned on the charm tonight as she brought a splash of glamour to a charity gala in New York.
The 42-year-old actress looked immaculate in a form-fitting black gown as she took to the red carpet with husband Michael Douglas, 67, and his father Kirk, 94.
The trio were out in force for the Children At Heart Gala Dinner, hosted by the Children of Chernobyl (CCOC) charity.
Kirk was honoured at the event – and presented with an award by his son Michael, who is in recovery after battling throat cancer last year. Actresses Dakota and Elle Fanning were also honoured in recognition of their support for the charity.
Elle, 13, also stepped into the spotlight at the event, posing on the red carpet with Michael and Catherine in an elegant pink dress.
Elle Fanning looks super cute here, doesn’t she? I love that pink dress on her.
Both Catherine and Michael battled medical issues recently. Michael was diagnosed with stage four throat cancer last year, and announced that he was cancer free this January after undergoing chemotherapy and radiation. Catherine sought treatment for bipolar disorder this spring, going public with her struggle and telling People magazine that “There is no need to suffer silently and there is no shame in seeking help.” Both of them look great here, and like they’re doing well. It’s so nice to see them out together, especially with Kirk! Kirk’s wife of 57 years, Anne Buydens, was also by his side at the event.
Last week, Angelina Jolie and the kids left Vietnam, and headed to parts unknown. The kids got to spend about a week in Vietnam, and it was the first trip any Jolie-Pitt had made to the country since Angelina adopted Pax in 2007. Angelina and Brad try to start charities and introduce their adopted kids to their birth countries, although some of those birth countries get more Jolie-Pitt love than others – like Maddox's birth country, Cambodia. Anyway, you can see some photos of Angelina, Maddox and Pax at the airport here.
Us Weekly reports that while the family was in Vietnam, Angelina arranged for Pax to meet his biological grandmother:
Reunited! During a recent family trip to Vietnam — the first since Angelina Jolie adopted Pax from an orphanage near Ho Chi Min City on 2007, the 8-year-old spent some time getting to know his biological grandmother Nhan Dung.
“It was a one day visit,” an insider tells the new Us Weekly, on stands now. “Nhan was looking forward to it after Pax had lived so many years abroad.”
Jolie, 36, and longtime love Brad Pitt arranged for Dung to visit Pax at the seaside Six Sense resort in Con Dao, where the gang stayed during their trip.
Earlier this year, Jolie told the Financial Times why she and Pitt, 47 emphasize educating their children about their native countries. “They are all learning about each other’s cultures as well as being proud of their own,” she said. “They all have their flags over their beds and their individual pride.”
In addition to Pax, the couple are parents to two adopted children (Maddox, 10, and Zahara, 6) and three biological children (Shiloh, 5, and 3-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox.)
"…After Pax had lived so many years abroad…" Does anyone else feel weird about that description? Like, Pax was just traveling as a student as opposed to being adopted and having a brood of five siblings and two parents? I was trying to remember what was known about Pax's life before Angelina adopted him in 2007 – he was living in an orphanage, but did anyone know anything about his parents or extended family? Oh, well. I guess I should applaud Angelina and Brad for allowing Pax access to his extended family, who are apparently still alive and well.
Oh, YES. Jeremy Renner covers the December/January issue of Details Magazine, all to talk about the slew of films he has coming out in the coming months. There's Misson Impossible: Ghost Protocol, The Avengers, and Renner got the coveted Jason Bourne role after Matt Damon left the project. Now… I'm hot for Renner. I think he's an amazing actor and a compact, sexy little dude. I get that not everyone feels the same way, although those of you not down with the Renner should just prepare yourselves for the Renner explosion coming in the next year. It's going to be a whole lotta Renner, and I can't wait. Anyway, you can read the full Details Mag piece here, and I've included some highlights. I like Renner's interviews, by the way. He's not full of himself, and his success came later in life and he wears his fame with an easy grace.
He loves his dog: He’s religiously unsentimental (“I don’t give a s–t about the past”) and unabashedly devoted to his cream-colored miniature French bulldog, Franklin.
How The Hurt Locker changed his life: “I feel blessed to be working these past 20 years in this business,” Renner says. “But when The Hurt Locker came around, it became another thing. And all it was is opportunity. I’ve been waiting for a role like that for a long time. I wasn’t getting any sign that said, ‘This is gonna turn out amazing for you,’” he says. “I wasn’t super-happy being so poor. Eating on $10 a month—probably not very good for you. But I loved what I was doing. Not every actor gives their life to do this job. Some just do it as a job. Well, it’s my life.”
His side-business renovating houses: “Me and my brother… would tinker around, and then someone would pay us twice what we put into it. So when I walked into an audition, I could just think about: ‘Can I contribute to this movie? If not, f–k it, I’ll go build a house.' Building a house is like producing a movie. There’s no right way to do it but a lot of wrong ways. You have to be flexible and creative. You have to move fast, be prepared—or it quickly becomes costly. These sound like life lessons. It’s certainly affected how I approach my life.”
Big-budget action films and a diss at Transformers: Armchair casting directors are eager to place him in future Mission: Impossible films, hoping that his character, Brandt, rises from Cruise sidekick to inherit the franchise. Renner’s not so sure. “Other people can think ahead all they want,” he says. “I just focus on the task at hand and try to move on.” Despite the physical fun (and hefty paydays) that comes with big action series, he wants to keep doing the smaller, more personal films he’s always enjoyed. “I’m blessed to have cool roles in these big movies. Because nothing against Transformers, but thank God I don’t have to do a monologue to a robot. I don’t know how Shia, God bless him, does that.”
He's friends with Charlize Theron & Colin Farrell: "I had to ask Charlize Theron, a very good friend, about going through an Academy Award campaign. She told me to take it moment by moment. Don’t f–king freak out, just have fun.” From his pal Colin Farrell, he learned to look everyone in the eye, treat everyone as an equal, and try not to let the whole nuttiness overwhelm him. “Colin had an interesting trajectory,” he says. “Not too dissimilar to what’s been happening to me, but he was much younger. He had five movies come out in one year. He exploded, then sort of imploded. One night I was talking with him—mind you, with some drinks in us—and he said, ‘I look at it this way: I could f–king always go back to Ireland and drink my f–king Guinness anytime.’ I hold on to that.”
Work is vacation: “This is the vacation. Work is trying to get a damned job. I skip to set every day.”
Tom Cruise on Renner: “Here he is, he’s a musician, he’s interested in design, he’s got a curiosity about life, and he’s just, in every way, an incredible dramatic actor.” For good measure, Cruise adds, Renner is “dynamic and an amazing athlete and very graceful with his action… A funny thing happened when we were shooting in Dubai,” Cruise says. He discovered that Renner has a little jig he does when he gets nervous, a spazzy little dance to loosen himself up. “I can’t even describe the Renner Stretch. He’s got a copyright on the Renner Stretch. I laughed so hard when he did it for me. I said this has gotta go in this movie. I said you gotta show [director Brad] Bird. You gotta show Bird! It’s gotta go in right before this tunnel sequence we do. So it’s in the movie. I don’t think I could do the Renner Stretch justice, but he’s an actor who’s not afraid to do that and go there.”
On dating: "I never dated, because I couldn't afford to date. I didn't even have electricity. You try to put a positive spin on it, like, 'Hey, this is so sexy—look at all these candles!' But I loved what I was doing. The sacrifices I made in personal relationships had the biggest effect on my life. Even now, any woman would take a No. 2 seat to my job." His longest relationship lasted five and a half years. That was in his twenties. Marriage was off the table because he couldn’t see himself as a solid provider. Or, as he puts it, “‘What the hell are you doing next week, motherf–ker, let alone 40 years from now? And are you willing to wipe my ass when we get old?’
He’s not seeing anyone now: “There’ve been a handful of girls over the last years. But it’s been very difficult. How does it go any further? I have a wonderful life, but it means nothing if it cannot be shared. That’s all I’m missing right now. It’s a little unbalanced for me. Right now the only thing consistent in my life is that little dog. That’s why I got it. I was getting really lonely. I needed somebody or something to be there with me through the whole journey.”
And yes, when asked directly about the gay rumors, Renner denies it, saying he doesn't "pay attention to that horses–t." At first I thought his comments on his lack of a dating life were oddly pronoun-free, but then he started talking about girls. I don't know… at this point, I do buy that he's straight. That's mostly wishful thinking, though, because I love him so much.
I've been talking about Chloe Moretz more than I'd like as of late. The girl is 14 years old. She's been everywhere lately, all because she's in promotional mode for her new film, Hugo. Should I be giving Chloe a pass in general because of her age? Or is she up for discussion because she wants to be up for discussion? I've read interviews with Chloe – it's not that she's precocious. Hailee Steinfeld is precocious, Kiernan Shipka is precocious. They still act like kids, all giggly and young. But with Chloe, it really is like she's a 30-something actress, stuck in the body of a 14-year-old.
So these are photos of last night's premiere of Hugo 3D, the Marty Scorsese film that Chloe appears in. Chloe wore this Dolce & Gabbana dress that I LOATHE. This beigey color is just wrong on her, the bodice looks too tight, the full skirt is princessy, but the fit seems wrong and everything overwhelms her – she’s being overwhelmed by beige tulle. Plus, Chloe is petite. She's a short girl, and this is not the right dress for short girls. It makes her look squat, and she’s not – she’s just a small, short 14-year-old girl who should be wearing something from the juniors department.
I'm also including photos of Ben Kingsley because I love him and Sasha Baron Cohen because he looks nice and I think it's interesting that he did this event alone. Where's Isla?
US Magazine has a photo montage of Kate Gosselin through the years along with some speculation from a plastic surgeon that Kate had a facelift at the ripe old age of 36. Many of you noticed how totally different her face looked in those photos of her “working” at her new job at CouponCabin.com. As an aside, I want to mention that Kate went off to Australia with her paid help boyfriend, the married bodyguard, just a few days after that press release which suggested she got a 9 to 5 job. Can you imagine a mid level employee at a regular office job like that taking off for vacation just a few days after they started? They would get canned pronto. Anyway Kate got a new face to go with that new job she occasionally shows up for.
Has Kate Gosselin gone under the knife — again?
When the former reality star recently reported for her first day as a CouponCabin.com blogger, she revealed a new face to go with her new gig. And it’s not the first time the formerly full-figured brunette has freshened up.
“She’s consumed with her appearance,” a source says of Gosselin, 36, whose TLC reality show Kate Plus 8 was canceled in August.
To keep her youthful appearance, the single mom of eight — who got a tummy tuck in 2007 and breast implants in 2009 — relies on thrice-weekly tanning sessions. Last June, she even gave herself Botox injections! (The result: unnaturally arched eyebrows.)
New York City plastic surgeon Jon Turk tells the new issue of Us Weekly (on sale Monday) that based on recent photos, it looks like Gosselin’s gone more extreme this time: A defined jawline and changed eye shape “suggest a facelift.”
It’s not surprising, the source tells Us: “Kate wants to look 10 years younger.”
I don’t know if this bitch got a whole facelift. I’m thinking she had a “liquid facelift,” or extensive Botox and Restylane. Remember how different Jill Zarin looked after hers? Zarin claimed it was all ‘tox and fillers, although it’s possible she had a ton of work done and lied about it too. Kate could have had a couple of minor procedures to change the shape and look of her face as well, particularly buccal fat pad removal, where the fat is sucked out from the cheeks, and an eye lift. I wouldn’t put it past her to get a total face lift after Kate Plus 8 got canned, though. The sad thing is, she looks a lot better now. I would prefer it if she looked like a plastic freak, to be honest.
Widdle Justin Bieber took a paternity test last Friday to put to rest a 20 year-old woman’s claim that he’s the father of her four month-old baby, the ironically-named Trystan. Bieber’s accuser, Mariah Yeater, seems to have made up a story about a quickie in a bathroom following a Bieber concert last fall, and maybe we’ll soon find out whether that’s the case or not. I have the feeling that Yeater’s legal team will fight to have the DNA results sealed while Justin’s will want the results to be known because they’re assuming their client will be exonerated. We’ll see, though. A lot of you still find Yeater’s story credible. Here’s part of Radar’s report on this:
Justin Bieber has taken a DNA test to prove that he isn’t the father of Mariah Yeater’s son, RadarOnline.com has confirmed.
“Justin took a DNA test on Friday night. The whole process lasted less than 10 minutes," a source close to the teen singer tells RadarOnline.com. "It’s an extremely reputable facility, and there are surveillance cameras everywhere to ensure tests are done with integrity and can’t be compromised. Justin’s test should be processed and completed by the end of the week. It’s time for Mariah to put up or shut up, and submit the baby to a test."
A source says that Yeater's side is unaware of the test having been taken, which, they assert doesn’t mean it hasn't happened but, they claim if it was then it wasn’t done in conjunction with their requests.
Mariah’s camp wanted certain controls in place for the testing. Yeater’s lawyer, Jeffrey Leving told RadarOnline.com last week, “A DNA test has already been agreed to and now it’s about negotiating time and place. Our team is dealing directly with him, Justin’s lawyer. The only issue is is he the father? Get the DNA test and the case is over. It’s simple.”
When asked what kind of controls he would want over the DNA test, Leving told RadarOnline.com: “Chain of custody. Watching it with my own eyes, I’d feel safe.”
Leving also said he would like it videotaped from collection to transportation.
Bieber has said once the paternity test proves he isn’t the father of the baby, he plans on suing Yeater and her attorneys.
It sounds like Yeater was hoping for a payoff to go away quietly and that it didn’t quite turn out as she expected.
Bieber did a radio interview yesterday in which he very briefly addressed the paternity suit. That’s at about 8:20 into the video below. When a DJ said that he would have wanted unprotected sex at that age too, Biebs didn’t say anything about it, but that was after another DJ told him not to answer it at all. He looks embarassed and smiled as he said “I’m not trying to get down like that.” Then they changed the subject and asked him to rap some Tupac lyrics. He was actually decent at it.
Did you see these photos of Justin Bieber bending over and showing his pink underwear? In an interview with Ellen last week, Selena Gomez said she couldn’t get him to pull his pants up when Ellen asked her about it. In that radio interview, Bieber sort-of admitted that he occasionally wears women’s jeans, and said that Lil Wayne does it too. At least we know he’s not wearing women’s underwear.
Here’s the interview with Bieber. [via ONTD] At 1:18 into the video he talks about renting the entire Staples center for a date with Selena. “She was talking about how she wanted to see Titanic. She hadn’t seen it since she was a little girl… We were like fighting a little bit… we ended up being cool and everything was great. I really wanted to take her somewhere special, so I took her to the Staples Center, and we had dinner in the middle of the Staples Center… you gotta treat a woman right.” He didn’t address whether he was comped the use of the Staples center, as has been reported. When you’re a famous millionaire, you can stage much more impressive dates and buy incredibly expensive presents. Selena is looking over it though.

This week's Life & Style Mag features some push-back from Team Kat-Face on the whole divorce scandal. I think the new pro-Kat-Face talking point is "Kim left Kris for good reasons, because he's a big jerk!" It seems that Kris Humphries is a homophobic asshat and he's super-worried about how Kourtney & Kim Take New York is going to portray his character. Oh, and Kris might be suing Kim and E!? Interesting…
Kim Kardashian is about to be dealt another blow. Insiders reveal exclusively to Life & Style—on newsstands now—that Kim's estranged husband Kris Humphries has met with a legal team and is preparing to sue for $10 million.
"Kris has a legal team investigating his options," the insider tells the new issue of Life & Style. "He's claiming his role on Kourtney & Kim Take New York is bigger than he was told, and that's why he wants more money. But Kris is also suing because he's really worried about how badly he's going to be portrayed on the series."
Life & Style has learned that Kris is particularly concerned about explosive footage of him bullying Kim's best friend Jonathan Cheban — scenes that stand to tarnish Kris' wholesome Midwestern image.
"Midway through the season, Kris starts bullying Kim's best friend, Jonathan Cheban, about his sexuality," shares a Kim pal. "Jonathan isn't gay, but Kris accuses him of being gay and criticizes him for it in a really homophobic way. Jonathan is really upset."
As is Kim. "Kris used the word 'gay' as an insult, to try and hurt Jonathan," an E! insider tells Life & Style. "He's the lowest of the low bullying someone like this."
While it's too late for him to stop the premiere from airing, Kris has retained lawyer Lee Hutton III and is trying his hardest to prevent the most inflammatory moments from being broadcast. Kris, his family and his friends maintain that much of Kris' appearance on Kourtney & Kim was scripted — including scenes in which he ponders Jonathan's sexuality — and that he's not homophobic.
"Little did Kris know that he was being set up," his father, William Humphries, tells Life & Style exclusively. "Kris got used —100 percent used."
Thoughts on whether Kris was "used"? He was just hired for an ad campaign for Sector Watches – a reported $150,000 paycheck. And Kris and his publicist have been dropping "sightings" of Kris into nearly every publication, noting over and over that Kris is so, so SAD. Whatever – I think Kris is as big of a fraud as Kim, and I don't really have any sympathy for either of them. And I also find it hard to believe that Kris was given a "script" in which he simply HAD to say homophobic things to Kim's friend.
Oh, and Radar reports that Kim's Christmas cards – which were ordered right before her honeymoon – feature a wedding photo of Kim and Kris. Guess she's going to have to buy her Christmas cards from CVS this year.

You know how in Gwyneth Paltrow's mind, she and Beyonce are super-tight and total BFFs? And in reality, Beyonce is like, "She's okay, but she's a little clingy"? Well, it seems like Gwyneth's husband Chris Martin thought he could casually exploit (not really) his wife's relationship with Beyonce – Chris wrote a song for Beyonce, and asked her to record it with Coldplay for their latest album, Mylo Xyloto. Beyonce (through her people!) refused. So Chris wrote another song, this time for Rihanna, and Rihanna sang it and now Chris thinks that Rihanna is his favorite. And everything Chris learned about being a bitchy high school girl, he learned from Gwyneth.
Maxim: So how did the Rihanna collaboration on Mylo Xyloto, "Princess of China," come about? Because you've name-checked Beyoncé so many times in the past, we would have expected her to turn up on the album.
Chris Martin: Well, I did write a song for Beyoncé, but it got rejected by her A&R people. And the one I wrote for Rihanna didn't get rejected. It was when she was doing Rated R, but it took so long—there's still this tribalism in music where we're rock and you're pop and you're hip-hop, and it sometimes takes a while to get across those barriers. Whereas a 14-year-old doesn't even see those barriers. So once we started thinking like that, it was, "Who cares if we used to be shelved in different places in Tower Records?" She's f–king rad, and I love listening to her. It's my favorite real singing on the album, 'cause it isn't me."
So why didn't Gwyneth intercede on behalf of her husband to get her super-duper BFF 4 EVA Beyonce to sing on his album? Is it because Goop and Bey aren't really that super-duper close? Is it because Beyonce thinks she's too good to appear on a Coldplay album? Is it because Bey is surrounded by sycophantic yes men? Who knows? But I like the idea that Chris is Pro-RiRi and Gwyneth is Pro-Bey, and THAT is the biggest fight they're having during this holiday season.
Elizabeth “Lizzie” Olsen is still steadily navigating the waters of Oscar buzz for her role in Martha Marcy May Marlene. As such, the youngest Olsen sister has posed for a brief yet quite glamorous Marie Claire photo spread that does her much more justice than that horrible Nylon shoot from a few months ago. Lizzie also sat down for a brief interview, in which she discussed that by-now famous 300-square-foot apartment (that is small but not quite squalor material), and she also reveals a few more surprises in these excerpts. Namely, the fact that she and her twin sisters enjoy preparing (and presumably eating) holiday food:
On Her Atypical “Olsen” Figure:“I’m the curvy one of the family.” Kewpie eyes and nose aside, Lizzie Olsen’s 5’7″ frame and shapely figure belie her shared parentage with the famously petite Mary-Kate and Ashley. Yet “it’s very clear that I’m the younger sister,” she asserts. “My whole life they’ve been like women, while I’ve been trying to be a woman but still a kid.”
On Distinguishing Herself: “I’ve always had a complex about being taken seriously.” she says over lunch of fava-bean salad and burrata. “I never wanted anyone to think that I would use my family name to get me anywhere.” So she plunged into an ongoing study of her craft, spending summers at musical theater camp and attending the prestigious Atlantic Theater Company at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts – with a semester in Russia at the Moscow Art Theater School for good measure. “I’ve always loved being a student,” Olsen says. (She refused to read the Spy Kids script for her very first audition because “it was too big, and I had schoolwork.”)
On Being Treated Differently In College: “That’s the only time in my life I ever felt different for having sisters in the public eye,” she says. “People would knock on my door and be like, ‘I heard there was a party here,’ just because they knew that I lived in that room. It was so weird.”
On Her Tiny New York Apartment: “It’s like a closet — I need to stop doing independent films so I don’t have to live in 300 square feet.” Her upcoming thriller, Red Lights, with Robert De Niro, Sigourney Weaver, and Cillian Murphy, may be just the ticket.
On Looking Forward To The Holidays: “My sisters and I do most of the cooking because we love it. We jazz up the holidays with mashed cauliflower. It’s so delicious; it’s Mary-Kate’s signature.” A family of fashion designers, style icons, actresses, and chefs – it’s an Olsen world, we just live in it.
Mashed cauliflower? That sounds pretty weird but might actually be better than it sounds because, while I’ve never indulged in such a delicacy, I did have some cauliflower “meatballs” the other day that were surprisingly delicious. Also, I love that Lizzie has a more realistic figure than either of her twin sisters have ever possessed. She’s thin and very beautiful but still looks like a human being.
Seriously though, her nose still appears pretty damn tweaked to me, and I know it bothers some of you when the topic arises. But there’s something about the angle in the below photo, which is otherwise quite striking, that just screams “early nose job.” (God, I am such a jerk.) Still, I adore what I’ve seen so far of Lizzie’s acting, and her unentitled attitude is very rare and refreshing for a soon-to-be “it girl.” Let’s hope she stays grounded as her star inevitably rises.
