‘Teen Mom’ Kailyn Lowry Is Now Selling Amway

Posted: 26 May 2011 11:10 AM PDT

I guess working at Forever21 isn’t as lucrative as it could be, because Teen Mom 2 star Kailyn Lowry has started selling for Amway. Amway is a “direct selling company” where salespeople sell everything from beauty products to household cleaners. A percentage of the money from sales goes up the sales chain, leading many to call Amway a pyramid scheme. (Think Goji Blast on Big Love, minus the sexiness of Grant Show.) Kail and boyfriend Jordan Wenner are running their sales site, the cleverly titled “Kail & Jordan’s Shop,” together. As Starcasm points out, it could be a good moneymaking source for Kail, especially if she’s able to get her fans to buy stuff from the store. I don’t know what her contract is like with MTV, though, so it’s unclear if they’ll be able to get a cut.

Whose Italian Accent Is Worse, Guy Fieri’s or Giada De Laurentiis’?

Posted: 26 May 2011 10:58 AM PDT

Food Network Humor points out that Guy Fieri has a bit of trouble when it comes to pronouncing his own surname. Although we’ve heard him introduced as “Fierrri”, he’s been caught saying it “Fietti” — even though he was born Guy Ferry. And don’t get us started on Giada De Laurentiis‘ habit of giving every ingredient in her arsenal the full Italian treatment.

Then there’s the Everyday Italian herself. Watch the whole segment below if you want to know how to make pizza with smoked mozzarella and pancetta, or just the first minute for the most Italian pronounciation of the aforementioned ingredients.

The funniest part with both of them is when the over-pronounciation comes in the middle of a sentence of perfectly normal, American English. I’m Swiss and German, but you don’t hear me saying, “Oh yeah, I had a delicious BRATVVURRST for lunch yesterday.”

Video: ‘Between Two Ferns’ Has Jumped the Shark!

This Will Ferrell-starring episode of Zach Galifianakis‘s web series Between Two Ferns is the weirdest one yet. The ep abandons its construction of Zach as the obtuse host playing against an unaware straightman, and instead the two comedians battle one another in a duel of insults and weirdness. It’s bizarre and wonderful, plus there’s terrific a cameo from Jon Hamm.

Gallery: Meet the Seven Dwarfs from Relativity Media’s ‘Snow White’ Film

Remember the Saved by the Bell episode where Slater writes himself into the school’s rap production of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs as Studly the Eighth Dwarf to stop Jessie and Zack from kissing? Mario Lopez won’t be playing a dwarf in Relativity Media’s The Brothers Grimm: Snow White, but the memory was relevant anyway. Check out the newly cast septet, whose faces you already recognize from roles in Watchmen, Harold & Kumar, and Pirates of the Caribbean. Plus, our guesses for who will play which dwarf, if they’re going by Disney’s names for each. You know who I’m bummed isn’t on this list? Peter Dinklage.

Cheryl Cole Booted from ‘X Factor’ For Being Easier to Understand Than Paula Abdul

Posted: 26 May 2011 09:26 AM PDT

Although Cheryl Cole is arguably the biggest star in the UK, her attempt to cross over to America has not worked out. Though she was tapped to be one of the four judges on the US version of  X Factor (which she was a judge on in England), TMZ announced today that Cole was let go and is being replaced with Nicole Scherzinger, aka the Pussycat Doll who can actually sing. The reason that Cheryl lost the gig? Reportedly, it was because her distinct “Geordie” accent was too hard to understand. (For an example of what a Geordie accent sounds like, check out this “Geordie Shore” video.) In a weird coincidence, Nicole won a season of Dancing with the Stars, and her pro partner was Derek Hough – Cheryl’s rumored boyfriend. Nicole was also supposed to be hosting the show alongside Steve Jones, so I don’t know if she’s going to be replaced or if they’ll just have Steve go it alone.

Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t think Cheryl’s accent is that bad. You know who I do have trouble understanding, though? Paula Abdul, who will also be a judge on X Factor. She slurs and babbles so much that I occasionally think she might be speaking in tongues.

Lowe’s Foods Has Their Very Own Scotty McCreery Fan Twitter Account

Posted: 26 May 2011 08:25 AM PDT

Before he was the tenth American Idol, Scotty McCreery was a high school student and a Lowe’s employee. He worked at the Lowe’s grocery store in his hometown of Garner, North Carolina (near the high school that was pursued by a bear). The chain is so excited that one of their own was on Idol that they started a Twitter account, @lowesfoods4scotty, to honor him. Right now, the account is mostly there to retweet anything related to Scotty, but props to Lowe’s for trying to get some free publicity off of Scotty’s success.

Well, that’s one way to build brand awareness. But something tells me that Scotty isn’t going to go back to working at a grocery store now.
