Watch: ‘Torchwood: Miracle Day’ Releases New Video Footage

Posted: 23 May 2011 06:30 PM PDT

Early last month we got to see a very short, not at all exciting teaser trailer for the upcoming new season of Torchwood called Miracle Day (set to debut on Starz in July). Today we get to see more substantial video footage of the show, courtesy of Access Hollywood. I suppose the footage could be called a trailer and it is a MUST see! Not only do we get action but we also get to see Torchwood characters — new and old! Check out the video below.

Wowowowowow!! LOVE this!! I am so excited that Torchwood is back … and HERE in the US :D I have a feeling that this new season of Torchwood is going to be nothing short of AWESOME. Doesn’t this video look great? I love it!! What do you think?

‘X-Men: First Class’ Releases A Whole Bunch Of International Posters

Posted: 23 May 2011 05:30 PM PDT

Last month we got to see a really cool poster for X-Men: First Class … which was a sight for sore eyes considering some of the really bad poster artwork that has been released for the prequel film (due out next month). Today we get to see a whole slew of new international posters and, sadly, they’re pretty terrible. For some reason, these poorly Photoshopped posters keep getting released … which I don’t think are doing promo for the film any justice at all.

No no no … these are just bad. While it’s very cool to see that each X-Men character gets their own poster, I just wish the artwork looked less … cheap. In any event, I’m hearing really great things about the movie itself from folks who have ogtten to see it. I am REALLY excited for X-Men: First Class … all these bad posters notwithstanding.

Watch: NBC Releases An Unaired Justin Timberlake Skit From ‘Saturday Night Live’

Posted: 23 May 2011 04:30 PM PDT

Justin Timberlake hosted the season finale episode of Saturday Night Live over the weekend and, for the most part, won praise for his pretty funny comic stylings. During the ep’s dress rehearsal, a skit was performed that did NOT make it to air during the network broadcast … which is a shame because the skit is actually very funny. Fortunately, NBC released the unaired skit on Hulu so YOU can check it out in full below.

LOL! This is a great skit … it’s a bummer it got cut. Personally, I think this skit should’ve aired on Saturday night and the stupid Secret Word skit should’ve gotten cut. I love all the self-referential jokes … I think it’s a very cute skit. What do you think?

‘Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows – Part 2′ Releases A Second Poster

Posted: 23 May 2011 03:30 PM PDT

Last month we got to check out the first official movie poster for the very last Harry Potter film, due out in theaters next month. Today we get to check out the second poster release for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 which features a battle-worn Harry looking very much worse for the wear. With the tagline, IT ALL ENDS, Warner Bros. wants you to be well aware that this is THE END.

"Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2," is the final adventure in the Harry Potter film series. The much-anticipated motion picture event is the second of two full-length parts. In the epic finale, the battle between the good and evil forces of the wizarding world escalates into an all-out war. The stakes have never been higher and no one is safe. But it is Harry Potter who may be called upon to make the ultimate sacrifice as he draws closer to the climactic showdown with Lord Voldemort.

It all ends here.

"Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2" stars Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson, reprising their roles as Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. The film's ensemble cast also includes Helena Bonham Carter, Jim Broadbent, Robbie Coltrane, Warwick Davis, Tom Felton, Ralph Fiennes, Michael Gambon, Ciarán Hinds, John Hurt, Jason Isaacs, Matthew Lewis, Gary Oldman, Alan Rickman, Maggie Smith, David Thewlis, Emma Thompson, Julie Walters and Bonnie Wright. The film was directed by David Yates, who also helmed the blockbusters "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" and "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1." David Heyman, the producer of all of the Harry Potter films, produced the film, together with David Barron. Screenwriter Steve Kloves adapted the screenplay, based on the book by J.K. Rowling. Lionel Wigram is the executive producer. Behind the scenes, the creative team was led by director of photography Eduardo Serra, production designer Stuart Craig, editor Mark Day, composer Alexandre Desplat, visual effects supervisor Tim Burke, and costume designer Jany Temime. Warner Bros. Pictures presents a Heyday Films production, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," which marks the last installment in the most successful film franchise of all time. "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2" will be released worldwide in theatres and IMAX, in 3D and 2D, beginning July 15, 2011."

Oh man … OH MAN … the end is SO near! I suspect we’ll be seeing posters of Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley as well as other HP characters. This is a great poster. I am SO dreading the end of Harry Potter but, woo, I am loving the promo stuff we’ve been given thus far.

First Look: Photos From The Set Of ‘The Hunger Games’ Set Hit The Internets

Posted: 23 May 2011 02:30 PM PDT

Over the weekend we learned that a city in North Carolina has been chosen as the set for the upcoming film adaptation of The Hunger Games. Today we get to see a whole SLEW of photos from Shelby, NC that show the sleepy town coming to life as District 12. The Shelby Star newspaper gained access to the set and managed to procure a bunch of great photos of things like Katniss Everdeen‘s house, Peeta Mellark‘s bakery and more. Check out these fun photos below.

It made the cover of 'Entertainment Weekly.' And it's being filmed in Shelby. But you wouldn't know it unless you made a trip up to the old P&M Warehouse, now blocked off by road closure signs and under security guard watch. 'The Hunger Games,' the anticipated movie adaptation of the popular book series, is set to begin filming this week in Shelby. Mike Bankhead, owner of Shelby Farm & Garden, said the operation thus far hasn't affected business or drawn a lot of attention. The P&M Warehouse is located directly behind his shop, separated by a now closed road. "I hadn't really seen anything," Bankhead said, noting that the crew came into town about a week ago. "We walked around a little, saw some people out there. But the road closures haven't impacted business, he said, and no customers have come in asking about the movie. Crew members were seen carrying 2x4s beside a train car and working with hand tools Monday morning at the film site. Two Travelynx buses were parked nearby.

Previously we heard that Hildebran, NC might be the site of the film but it now appears that Shelby, NC will become District 12. Now that the movie set secret is out, I expect others will make their way to the area in the hopes of catching a glimpse of filming. I would not be surprised if we spent the rest of the Summer seeing photos from the Hunger Games set … including the film’s stars in action. This first look at the set is really neat, I gotta say. I love that The Hunger Games is actually coming to life.

Vegas, Baby!

Posted: 23 May 2011 12:45 PM PDT

Yesterday afternoon, David and I made our way to Las Vegas, NV for a couple of days primarily to see Kylie Minogue end her Aphrodite Live 2011 North American tour at the Colosseum inside Caesar’s Palace Hotel and Casino last night. We are staying at the absolutely FABULOUS Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas Hotel and Casino and have been having the time of our lives. I”m not a big LV fan, but our accommodations have more than made up for my previous preconceived notions about Sin City.

We arrived in LV early enough in the day to enjoy some of the wonderful surroundings here at the Cosmopolitan. Before the show, David and enjoyed a sumptuous dinner at Jaleo by José Andrés. David and I are big fans of Spanish tapas dining and we were treated to an absolute feast of deliciousness. The empandas featured above was only one small part of our amazing meal. LOVE LOVE LOVED our meal … I can’t even tell you. A few Pink readers have messaged me of their love of the original Jaleo in Washington DC and I can attest, this place is just as good.

After dinner, we made our way to the Colosseum to see Kylie perform her last tourstop of the North American version of her Aphrodite Live 2011 Tour:

We managed to get really AMAZING seats so we were close to the Kylie action all night long. It was just too perfect seeing Kylie‘s goddess-inspired show inside the Colosseum. It was the perfect way to end her tour. Much love goes out to all the Pink readers that I met at the show … it was a pleasure meeting you all. What a fantastic night … we had a blast!

I think we may keep things quiet tonight … we have one more night here at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas to enjoy and I’m really looking forward to enjoying our new home away from home :D

Stephen King Would Like Lindsay Lohan To Star In The Film Remake Of ‘Carrie’

Posted: 23 May 2011 11:13 AM PDT

Last last week, author Stephen King spoke with Entertainment Weekly magazine about the talk going around about plans to remake the 1976 horror classic Carrie (based on his original novel). As you may know, Sissy Spacek played the role of Carrie in the classic original film but in new remarks to EW, King suggests that Lindsay Lohan might be the actress to play the new Carrie. Naturally, as soon as L. Lo found out she had King‘s endorsement, she reportedly got very interested in playing the role. Could it be? Could Lindsay Lohan become the new Carrie?

Thirty-five years after Stephen King's first best-seller roared into theaters and scared a generation of prom-going teens, MGM and Screen Gems have hired playwright Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa to resurrect Carrie with a more faithful adaptation of King's novel, according to Deadline. But King, who famously disapproved of Stanley Kubrick's adaptation of The Shining, tells EW he still has a soft spot for Brian De Palma's original film: "I've heard rumblings about a Carrie remake, as I have about The Stand and It. Who knows if it will happen? The real question is why, when the original was so good? I mean, not Casablanca, or anything, but a really good horror-suspense film, much better than the book. Piper Laurie really got her teeth into the bad-mom thing. Although Lindsay Lohan as Carrie White… hmmm. It would certainly be fun to cast. I guess I could get behind it if they turned the project over to one of the Davids: Lynch or Cronenberg."

TMZ reports that Lindsay is very interested in playing the role, should it be offered to her:

Stephen King mentioned Lindsay Lohan by name as a possible star in a remake of the classic film “Carrie” — and sources close to Lindsay tell us … she’d jump at the chance to play the iconic role … Sources close to Lindsay tell TMZ … she said she was “stoked” when she heard King mention her name and thinks working with King “would be epic.” We’re told Lindsay is a big fan of King’s work and, if the opportunity presented itself, she’d love to land a role in the upcoming adaption of his famous book, “The Dark Tower.”

I love Stephen King very much … I really love the Brian DiPalma-directed Carrie film … I am not only opposed to a remake but I’m really opposed to the idea of Lindsay playing the role. I honestly do not believe that any project with Lindsay Lohan in the lead role will be taken seriously … at all. The original film is so good, so damn good that I cannot see how any remake could outdo the original. This just sounds like a bad idea all the way around. Thankfully, I find it very hard to believe that Lindsay is even remotely close to getting a movie role like this so … that’s the one thing we can take to heart.

First Listen: Alanis Morissette Releases A New Song Titled ‘Into A King’

Posted: 23 May 2011 10:48 AM PDT

This month Alanis Morissette is celebrating her wedding anniversary with her husband Mario Souleye Treadway and in celebration, she is sharing a new song she penned for him for their anniversary titled Into A King. Earlier this month, a Happy Anniversary message appeared on Alanis‘s official website but yesterday, Into A King showed up on Alanis‘s official Soundcloud page. The song is beyond adorable … and is deffo worth checking out. Listen to it in full below.

happy birthday angel husband. and happy birthday to my sweet father. taurus reigns. xo

It started harmless enough
Animal infatuation
But something within it prevailed

You were a sweet amalgamation
Of all the parts I have loved
The hottest slippery slope

And out came depth
And out comes healing
Out comes friendship unlike any I have known

Happy anniversary baby
You've gone from a prince into a king
Happy anniversary darling
I've gone from a maiden to a queen

continued and softened us up
our rocks are hewn by this water of love
and steadfast: our pinky swear

and out comes fun
out comes relief
out comes championing unlike any I have known

Happy anniversary baby
You've gone from a prince into a king
Happy anniversary darling
I've gone from a maiden to a queen

And how far have we come
how far we've yet to go
til we're gray great grandparents
til we're one tiny little wrinkle
I say I do I do I do

Happy anniversary baby
You've gone from a prince into a king
Happy anniversary darling
I've gone from a maiden to a queen

And so, we'll trapse from paper through diamonds
A family tree's genesis
Our fingers t'wining together

And out comes ever
And out comes alchemy
And out comes drooling on your chest

Happy anniversary baby
You've gone from a prince into a king
Happy anniversary darling
I've gone from a maiden to a queen

OMG … this is SUCH a cute song! It really makes me yearn DESPERATELY for new Alanis music to be honest but it is a very sweet song for Mario, which I’m sure he greatly appreciates. I can’t even begin to imagine the songs she has written for the couple’s newborn son Ever Imre … but hopefully we’ll get to hear those songs soon … maybe on a new album? Lemme know what you think of the song … I really love it. Do you?

Watch: Justin Bieber & Selena Gomez Kiss At The 2011 ‘Billboard Music Awards’

Posted: 23 May 2011 10:00 AM PDT

Justin Bieber was among the people honored with awards at the 2011 Billboard Music Awards last night (6 awards in total) but it was a moment that occurred offstage (but on camera) that is getting all of the attention today. Bieber attended the awards show with his girlfriend Selena Gomez and when his name was announced as an award winner, he planted a big ol’ closed-mouth KISS on Selena on national television! You could hear all of the hearts of Bieber fans around the world breaking into a million pieces at that exact moment. Ah, young love.

Justin Bieber had an amazing night at the 2011 Billboard Music Awards that included six awards –and a kiss from Selena Gomez. The 17-year-old singing sensation took home a slew of awards at the Las Vegas awards show, including Digital Artist of the Year, Top New Artist and the Fan Favorite award and before be took to the stage to accept his New Artist award, he planted a kiss on Selena who he was sitting with him in the audience. On stage, he didn’t thank Selena specifically, but gave shout outs to “my whole family, [talent manager] Scooter Braun, Usher – basically everyone who helped me get out of my hometown and live my dream.” Access Hollywood caught up with Biebs backstage after his big win, where he talked about his big night. “I’m having a great time, everything’s been great, really excited,” he told Access. “It’s a dream come true.” While he was taken aback by his own accolades, the young Canadian star told Access that Britney Spears’ performance earlier in the night with Rihanna left him in awe. “She killed, she rocked it, always,” he said. “I used to have a big – I still do have a big crush on Britney… I didn’t get the chance to tell her [about my crush] but, she knows… love you Britney!” Despite his affection for Britney, in the pressroom, Justin gushed about Selena when asked about the congratulatory kiss. “She’s amazing,” he said of Selena.

And here is video of the Bieber/Gomez kiss heard ’round the world:

So sweet, so innocent … so cute! Let’s not forget, tho, that Biebs and Selena first shared a smooch on Oscar Night back in February and then again locked lips at a press conference in Indonesia earlier this month (not to mention the countless bouts of spit-swapping that very likely occurs off camera and out of sight). But this Billboard Music Awards kiss is the most high-profile smooch to date. Let’s hope all those Bieber fans crushed by the sight of him kissing Selena can get thru this very rough time in their young lives. Oh and congrats to Biebs on his 6 Billboard Music Awards wins.

Chicago Bulls Basketball Player Joakim Noah Hurls A Homophobic Slur On National TV

Posted: 23 May 2011 09:21 AM PDT

Last month, LA Lakers basketball player Kobe Bryant was caught yelling a homophobic slur at an NBA referee which resulted in his being fined $100,000 by the NBA Basketball Commissioner. As a result of that infraction, Bryant and some of his Lakers teammates filmed an anti-bullying/tolerance PSA in an attempt to right Bryant‘s wrong. Last night, during the Chicago Bulls vs. Miami Heat playoffs game, Bulls player Joakim Noah was caught yelling the same homophobic slur on national TV … except in Noah‘s case, he yelled “fucking faggot” to a fan in the crowd. Noah immediately apologized for the slur after the game but it remains to be seen if he will be punished with the same $100,000. fine for the offense.

Chicago’s Joakim Noah shouted an anti-gay slur at a fan sitting behind the Bulls’ bench Sunday night in an incident that was captured by TNT. He apologized after the game. “I got caught up,” Noah said. “I don’t mean no disrespect to anybody. I just got caught up.” Noah picked up his second foul with 6:26 left in the opening quarter. Cameras remained on the frustrated player as he went to the bench. The incident occurred after Noah sat down. “The fan said something to me that I thought was disrespectful, and I got caught up in the moment, and I responded,” Noah said. “I said some things that I shouldn’t have said. … I apologize.” A league spokesman had no comment Sunday night, but Noah faces a likely fine from a league that has taken a strong stance against homophobic comments. Kobe Bryant was recently hit with a $100,000 fine for using the same anti-gay slur Noah was heard to say Sunday night against referee Bennie Adams last month. Bryant offered multiple apologies after the incident was heavily criticized by gay rights groups. Also last month, Atlanta Braves coach Roger McDowell allegedly made homophobic comments, crude gestures and threatened a fan with a bat before a game in San Francisco. McDowell served a two-week suspension and also apologized for his remarks. During Sunday night’s game, the league broadcast commercials featuring players urging fans not to use slang terms for gays as insults.

This kind of behavior is so disappointing. While I appreciate the immediate apology (and public admittance of wrongdoing), this kind of behavior shouldn’t even take place in the first place. All I can think of is the huge number of young and impressionable people out there who look up to these sports stars and see this kind of behavior. I cannot see how Joakim Noah will not be fined the same $100,000. penalty for this offense. I find it so sad that just plain outrageous that those tolerance PSAs were shown during a game where one of the star players got caught hurling homophobic slurs on camera. It really goes to show how far we have to go as a people towards acceptance of one another. It’s clear that this kind of outrageously offensive behavior still happens in sports but now that we are more watchful over sports players and their behavior, it’s likely that more and more athletes will be punished for these actions. At $100k a pop, I’m hoping that these athletes will be forced to learn their lesson.

Watch: Beyoncé Performs Run The World (Girls) At The 2011 ‘Billboard Music Awards’

Posted: 23 May 2011 08:50 AM PDT

While Britney Spears made a couple of cameo performances with both Rihanna (at the start of the show) and Nicki Minaj (at the close of the show), Beyoncé performed all by herself last night at the 2011 Billboard Music Awards. Well, technically that’s not true … she actually had about 100 kickass back-up dancers performing with her as well :) Bey performed her new single Run the World (Girls) after she was paid tribute to by a host of people … including her parents Tina & Matthew Knowles, U2 frontman Bono, First Lady Michelle Obama and more! Beyoncé also collected the Billboard Millennium Award so, yeah, it was a pretty sweet night for Miss B. Check out below photos and video from Beyoncé‘s performance last night.

Beyoncé’s reign is stronger than ever — that was clear at tonight’s Billboard Music Awards on ABC, where the star received the Billboard Millennium Award and performed her new single, “Run the World (Girls),” for the first time on network television. Several of Beyoncé’s close relatives, famous friends and collaborators — including First Lady Michelle Obama, Lady Gaga, The-Dream, U2′s Bono, Babyface, Stevie Wonder, Solange and her son Daniel “Juelz” Smith, Barbra Streisand, Matthew Knowles and Tina Knowles — took part in the Billboard Millennium Award presentation with pre-recorded personal messages about the singer’s accomplishments and impact … The honoree herself then took the stage in a barely-there silver number to perform “Run the World (Girls),” the lead single from her fourth studio album, “4,” for the first time ever. Virtual duplicates of Queen B rocked behind her until an impressive 100 back-up dancers emerged to rock collectively to the girl-power anthem. After the show-stopping performance, Tina Knowles and Juelz presented Beyoncé with the Billboard Millenium Award, as the singer breathlessly thanked her parents, Destiny Child’s Kelly Rowland, Michelle Williams and even former members of the group, LaToya Luckett and LaTavia Roberson. Beyoncé ended her speech by shouting out her husband — “I love me some Jay-Z,” she said, as the rap star smiled and nodded and a collective “aw” could be heard in Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Arena and on social networks.

Without question, Beyoncé delivered the most exciting, most entertaining performance of the night. The tribute to her was really amazing and it reminded me of how long she has been in the biz. Beyoncé has actually achieved so much success over the many years … I mean, let’s not forget the amazing Destiny’s Child years. I think it was very, very cool of Bey to thank ALL of the members of DC (well, except for Farrah Franklin but she don’t really count, to be honest). I always kinda roll my eyes when “Millennium” awards are handed out … but Beyoncé is deff deserving of many accolades and honors. She is an amazing performer — all around. Congrats and love goes out to Beyoncé on this latest achievement. Honestly, it is much deserved.

What did y’all think of Beyoncé‘s performance last night? Did you love it?

Lady Gaga Sells Her Album ‘Born This Way’ For 99 Cents!

Posted: 23 May 2011 08:03 AM PDT

Lady Gaga, whose new album Born This Way is released for sale today here in the US, is offering for a limited time only the standard digital version of her album for $0.99 on Amazon. That’s right, the 14 song standard version of Born This Way can be purchased TODAY for less than $1.00. It’s unclear how long this blowout sale will last … but at $0.99, even the most casual fan or vaguely curious non-fan can’t really pass up buying this album for such a low, low price.

I can only assume that this low sale price is being offered in an attempt to boost record sales to offset the fact that this album (both the standard and deluxe 2-disc special edition versions) leaked to the Internets in full last week. My guess is that this low price is not only meant to draw in new fans but will afford those fans who may have procured the album for free the chance to actually pay for it:

I gotta say … I can’t find any fault with anyone offering an entire album of music for under $1. IMHO, any album — even if I end up hating it — is worth buying for $0.99. If this promotion is successful, maybe other artists will also offer their new albums at this low price, if for a limited time only. If you’re going to buy Born This Way or are even thinking about it, TODAY is the day to do so. Head over to Amazon HERE to buy your copy of Born This Way for $0.99.

Watch: Britney Spears Performs With Rihanna & Nicki Minaj At The 2011 ‘Billboard Music Awards’

Posted: 23 May 2011 07:39 AM PDT

After reports that Britney Spears would not be appearing at all at the 2011 Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas, NV last night, we heard a rumor Saturday that our dear Britney would be a last-minute addition to the performance schedule of the show. Yesterday afternoon, we got a sneak peek of her performance when a rehearsal photo of Britney and Rihanna made it’s way to the Internets. Last night, Britney did appear on stage — not once but twice — with Rihanna (to open the show) and with upcoming tourmate Nicki Minaj (to close the show) in a pair of performance cameos for the songs S&M (Remix) and ‘Till the World Ends (… the Femme Fatale Remix). Check out photos and video of the performances below.

Because Britney‘s performances were actually just mere cameos, some people are actually upset with her appearances. Having seen the two performances after they aired on TV, I honestly don’t understand what the uproar is about. While I admit that I wasn’t particularly wowed by either performance (either entire performance — including Rihanna and Nicki‘s performances), I found them both to be cute and worth watching. It’s no secret that I am a huge Britney fan so I’m coming at this from a place of love … but I just don’t see where the need to be upset comes from. It seemed clear to me that Britney was having a great time last night … she busted out her 1000 watt smile a few times last night:

I dunno … as a very casual watcher of the Billboard Music Awards — which hasn’t even aired for the last 5 years — I made a point to tune in and watch the show only because Britney was going to be in the building. These cameos were fun, IMHO, and they made the show worth watching (and because I watched, I was able to catch Beyoncé‘s KILLER performance of Run the World (Girls) … which I really loved). Here are the performances, check ‘em out:

I enjoyed these performances because they are cute. They’re not life-changing, they’re not revolutionary … they’re fun. What do y’all think? I’m curious to hear all the different opinions on these performances.
