50 Cent Is The Best Pimp That Vanessa Hudgens Ever Had (In The Movies)

Posted: 19 Oct 2011 11:12 AM PDT

50 Cent has been working really hard on his challenging new role: Pimp. No, seriously. The rapper-turned-actor — who’s portrayed a drug dealer and a cancer-ridden football player — will play Vanessa Hudgens‘ pimp in The Frozen Ground, a new thriller.

As he told Celebuzz,

"I'll be the best pimp she ever has. I play Vanessa's pimp in the movie, and I've really been working on it. It was an interesting project and is based on a true story, so there was a lot of information I could use to build the character."

You couldn’t find an odder pair, right? The former High School Musical star gave up the Disney career and has been choosing gritty roles lately. Earlier this year she was a mental patient in Sucker Punch; and her movie Gimme Shelter, in which she plays a pregnant, homeless teenager, is in post-production. Can we just make sure she doesn’t bring that awful haircut into The Frozen Ground?

And then you have Fiddy, whose career seems to be evenly split between somewhat stereotypical roles and more unique parts. According to IMDb, he’s been fairly busy, scooping up a bunch of upcoming films. It isn’t clear what his roles are in any of these, but this is how they break down:

  • Vengeance: an action/crime drama whose tagline is Death walks alone.
  • Freelancers: the son of a murdered NYPD officer takes over his father’s post.
  • Fire with Fire: firefighters testifying against each other.
  • Lives of the Saints: IMDb gives us no hints on this one.

The “true story” that 50 Cent was referring to in The Frozen Ground is about serial killer Robert “Butcher Baker” Hansen, an Alaskan pimp turned serial killer who murdered at least 20 prostitutes in the ’70s and ’80s. Nicolas Cage plays the Alaska State Trooper who works with Vanessa’s character to track down killer John Cusack.

Also, because it’s already stuck in my head:

PIMP PIMP HOORAY!

Crushable Quoteable: Is Director Cary Fukunaga A Dream Man Or A Nightmare Boyfriend?

Posted: 19 Oct 2011 10:35 AM PDT

One pretty indisputable fact about director Cary Fukunaga (he helmed the movies Sin Nombre and Jane Eyre) is that he’s super goddamn good-looking.  And upon first read, this quote Cary gave about the gestures he’s made to win the hearts of women seems very much like the pinnacle of romance

“I’ve scoured for mourning jewelry, put pieces together that have matched from around the world; I’ve given lost lockets as gifts. I’ve written immense love letters that are supposed to be opened over days at a time. I used to always make art for girls. That was the thing I did for girls to like me. I did portraits, drawings, letters that formed outlines of significant things in our relationship. Art. I just used art in general. It usually worked.”

My god, he’s like Heathcliffe, Romeo and Jack from Titanic all rolled into one! What a dreamboat, right? Maybe for a little while, but after thinking about this stuff for a minute, I’ve decided living with someone so prone to romantic overtures would actually get pretty exhausting. Hey, Cary picked up take-out for dinner! But he hid the cartons all over the apartment and left you a treasure map with clues written in limerick. And there’s that portrait he drew the day you were home sick with your hoodie pulled up around your swollen face. Wow, he learned to say, “I love you” in 19 languages? Well shit – now you’ve got to learn it back.

Sigh. Maybe I’m just a jaded old jerk, or bitter that I don’t live in a Bronte novel.

Watch Behind-The-Scenes Clips Of The Breaking Dawn Honeymoon, Shirtless Jacob, And Bella Giving Birth

Posted: 19 Oct 2011 10:17 AM PDT

We hadn’t heard of ScreenTeamMedia before today, but we gotta appreciate their extensive YouTube channel, which has interviews and behind-the-scenes clips from upcoming movies like In Time and The Avengers. But you know what most caught our attention? Their clips from The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part 1.

While there are some standard interviews, STM was also allowed on-set and caught glimpses of three key moments in the movie.

The Honeymoon

Kristen Stewart looks like she’s shivering in the romantic waterfall on Bella and Edward’s honeymoon in Rio de Janiero. And how does Robert Pattinson‘s white makeup stay on in the water?

Angry, Shirtless Jacob

This is the utterly ridiculous moment that made me realize how much fun I was going to have at this movie’s midnight screening. Jacob’s reaction, upon receiving the invite to Bella’s nuptials, is to rip off his shirt and go wolf. From a moviemaking standpoint, it’s interesting to see the mobile camera racing away from him.

Bella Giving Birth

So now we know that we’ll be experiencing at least some of Bella’s delivery through her eyes, since in this clip we see Taylor Lautner and Robert talking into the camera. Also, their unemotional reaction shots at what must be the baby fighting its way out of her belly are amazing. Those will (hopefully) get added in later.

So yeah, each clip is maybe 15 seconds, but they still offer a fascinating look at how your Breaking Dawn sausage gets made.

Hot Shot: Joe Manganiello Is Shirtless In Hawaii

Posted: 19 Oct 2011 10:07 AM PDT

Joe Manganiello is a Greek sculpture of the ideal man that has come to life, gotten a tan, taken acting classes, and gotten a part on True Blood.

As you can see here, he’s currently taking a well-deserved vacation (with a cute blonde friend, perhaps?) between all the werewolfian sexiness. And did you know he’s playing a male stripper in a Steven Soderbergh movie called Magic Mike that’s coming out soon?? It’s true. We’ll be sure to see it ASAP and report back as to whether it’s any good. This job is hard, sometimes.

First Look: Nikki Reed’s Gorgeous Wedding Dress And Ring

Posted: 19 Oct 2011 09:23 AM PDT

Twilight actress Nikki Reed wed American Idol contestant Paul McDonald over the weekend at a private ranch in Malibu. US Magazine released this photo of the couple, which will cover their new issue, on stands Friday.

Nikki’s Tocaro dress had a 72-inch train, which isn’t quite what you think of when you hear, “ranch attire.” The best part of the wedding has to be that Nikki’s man of honor was DJ Qualls. DJ Qualls, you guys! He outdoes Kristen Wiig as a member of a wedding party any day.

Nikki and Paul met only last March, and got engaged only months after they’d started dating. Here’s a photo of Nikki’s brand new wedding ring:

Rihanna Settles David LaChapelle Lawsuit Out Of Court

Posted: 19 Oct 2011 09:09 AM PDT

The lawsuit photographer David LaChapelle filed against Rihanna for stealing his ideas earlier this summer has come to an end in the most painless way possible for both parties: with a huge, out of court settlement. When he first filed suit this past summer, he insisted that it was “business, not personal,” and he merely wanted to be compensated for use of his intellectual property. “Musicians commonly pay to sample music or use someone's beats and there should be no difference when sampling an artist's visuals,” he told The Telegraph. This seemed, and still seems, fairly reasonable.

According to The Independent, the sum for which they settled is undisclosed, but LaChapelle was originally seeking $1 million in damages for the images of his that were copied in the “S&M” video and his publicist says he is “happy with the settlement,” so draw your own conclusions. While I realize this was probably the least stressful way to do things, I’m a little bit sad this didn’t make it to court, because I think it could have set an interesting precedent for cases where music videos rip off artists. We might get another chance at a court case soon, though, because another photographer named Phillip Paulus is suing Rihanna for copying one of his images as well, and in the same damn video. Check it out:

Make it rain!

The Obamas Won’t Let Their Daughters Watch Keeping Up With The Kardashians

Posted: 19 Oct 2011 09:08 AM PDT

I love how even when they’re dissing the Kardashian sisters and their various reality shows, Barack and Michelle Obama are respectful. In an interview with iVillage about raising her family in the White House, Michelle revealed that she doesn’t let daughters Sasha and Malia use the Internet for non-school-related activites during the week, and they’re allowed to only watch TV on weekend.

But not those screeching harpies! (Our words, not hers.)

“Barack really thinks some of the Kardashians – when they watch that stuff — he doesn’t like that as much, but I sort of feel like if we’re talking about it, and I’m more concerned with how they take it in — what did you learn when you watched that. And if they’re learning the right lessons, like, that was crazy, then I’m like, okay.”

Bless you, Michelle, for trying to find value in Kourtney & Kim Take New York. We just mock it mercilessly. Still, no Internet for the kids during the week—that’s unheard of! What do they do if they’re not updating their Facebook and Twitter statuses or posting .gifs on Tumblr? How will they know about Nyan Cat and every amazing cat video?

We blame Katie Holmes‘ movie First Daughter for making us think that the lives of the President’s children are as pampered as celebrity children’s.

And yes, that is Khloe Kardashian shaking President Obama’s hand when she and husband Lamar Odom visited the White House.

Why Is Michael Jackson’s 13-Year-Old Daughter Paris Being Recruited By The Lingerie Football League?

Posted: 19 Oct 2011 10:54 AM PDT

Here’s something awesome: 13-year-old Paris Jackson recently became the first girl member of her L.A. private school’s flag football team. Here’s something awful: the despicable organization that is the Lingerie Football League is attempting to recruit Michael Jackson‘s barely-teenage daughter. While she can’t play for the league until she turns 18, the FNL wants her right now as a spokesperson for their youth program. Which is something that exists.

A spokesperson for the league wrote a letter to Paris stating the following:

“We … would like to invite Paris to become the spokesperson for the LFL’s youth program and perhaps start training for a future football career in the LFL when she reaches the age of 18.”

If you’re not fully aware of what the Lingerie Football League is, let me illuminate things for you. The organization is a 7-on-7 women’s tackle football league, where the women play clad in bras, undies and shoulder pads. Their tagline is, “True fantasy football.” The players look like this:

And what’s the youth program? It doesn’t appear to be anything, according to the search I just did of the LFL’s website, but the letter sent to Paris indicates that they’ll be starting the program soon, as a way to “bring football to young ladies at an earlier stage in life.”

Hey, Lingerie Football League? You’re disgusting. Can’t you let a 13-year-old girl enjoy playing sports without turning it into a sex thing? Good luck with that youth program, though!

Heather McDonald And Boss Chelsea Handler Share Designer Shoes

Posted: 19 Oct 2011 08:00 AM PDT

The following is a guest post from our friends at Luckymag.com.

We’re suckers for comedian Heather McDonald's expert celebrity impressions and quirky facial expressions on E!'s Chelsea Lately. So we were super-excited when we got the chance to chat and shop with the star at New York mega retailer Daffy's last week for the brand's 50th anniversary celebration. She gave us the scoop on her life behind the scenes, Chelsea Handler's shoe fetish and even picked out some fall must-haves.

TV stars seem to always have great shoes. What designers do you love?

I love a good Jimmy Choo. Although, those are the only expensive shoes I ever buy. Other than that, Charles David and Michael Kors are great…oh and Nine West!

Now the important question, Chelsea Handler has amazing shoes on the show – Does she ever share her shoes?

Yes! We share the same size! She actually just gave me an amazing pair of Prada boots.

When not on camera or doing standup, what do you wear on the weekends?

I'll usually wear a fun dress with heels or boots for a night out or dinner.

And when you're being a mom?

It's usually always about the jeans, sweaters and sneakers. Plus, when I'm not on Chelsea Lately, I can wear whenever I want!

Finally, anything you're shopping for specifically this season?

I have two boys ages 5 and 9 so I buy a lot for them. P.S. Daffy's is great! Better than the $300 on the communion outfit I had to buy…. The boys are growing like weeds!

Don't forget to watch Heather regularly on E!'s Chelsea Lately weekdays at 11 p.m. E.S.T., and also pick up a copy of her book You'll Never Blue Ball in This Town Again: One Woman's Painfully Funny Quest to Give it Up in stores now.
