Rihanna Responds To Trump's Disses Posted: 23 Feb 2011 11:30 AM PST Looks like she's taking the high road on this one. As we mentioned yesterday, Donald Trump was NOT pleased when Rihanna had to cancel a performance at his private Palm Beach club Mar-a-Lago at the last minute. Trump dissed RiRi for canceling on him and then still performing at the NBA All-Star game the next day. Here's what her rep had to say about it on her behalf:
It was nice of Rihanna to respond, but this should be the end of it. Time to move on, Donald! No need for any more drama surrounding this. [Images via WENN.] |
Yes! Obama Calls Defense Of Marriage Act 'Unconstitutional' Posted: 23 Feb 2011 11:20 AM PST We're VERY happy to hear this! The Justice Department has just announced that President Obama believes the Defense of Marriage Act is unconstitutional, and he refuses to continue defending it. Based on Obama's new stance on the act, his administration won't defend ongoing suits in two federal Appeal Courts relating to the act, and he'll "leave it to Congress to defend the law, known as DOMA, against those challenges." For those unfamiliar, the DOMA law "allows states not to recognize same-sex marriages preformed in other states and provides a federal definition for 'marriage' that excludes same-sex couples." Here's what Attorney General Eric Holder had to say about Obama's decision:
More from Holder about Obama's views on Section 3 of DOMA, which defines "spouse" as a member of the opposite sex:
The DOMA law has not been overturned by Obama's new stance on it, but it's a MAJOR step in the right direction. Here's what Human Rights Campaign President Joe Solmonese had to say about it:
Thank you, Obama! Next, let's get DOMA overturned!!! Thoughts??? [Image via WENN.] |
Lindsay's MOST DEFINITELY Going To Jail! Here's Why! Posted: 23 Feb 2011 11:10 AM PST Here's the deal: If you missed Lindsay Lohan's hearing this morning, you missed Judge Keith Schwartz laying down the law for LiLo clear as crystal - if she is sentenced in his court, she's going to jail. We've come to find out that part of the offer Deputy D.A. Danette Meyers made to Lindsay's lawyer in chambers this morning was six month in prison. The thing is, LiLo is up on two offenses: grand theft and a probation violation. Should she plead not guilty during her preliminary hearing on March 10th to the theft charge, Judge Schwartz has the option of throwing her in jail while she awaits trial, on the grounds that she is still in violation of her probation. Now, seeing that there maybe enough evidence to convict Lindsay, her lawyer might want to avoid this in an effort to ultimately avoid a much longer stretch of prison time than 6 months. Therefore, it is very likely that LiLo will plead guilty or no contest and implore the judge to lesson the six months sentence. And we think she's hoping in vain. From what we heard from him this morning, the judge is ready to prosecute her to the full extent of his authority. He doesn't care that she's Lindsay Lohan. He's got a good rep in this town and he's sticking to his guns. But maybe her fourth time will be the charm? Maybe?! [Image via AP Images.] |
Archie Opens Up About "Leaving" His Label Posted: 23 Feb 2011 10:50 AM PST Last week, we reported that David Archuleta was dropped from Jive Records after the sales of his last album were less than stellar, to say the least. At the time, we felt really bad for him, but considering he's so young, we also felt like that being set free from the label might also open him up to create new music without their involvement. Apparently, Archie agrees with us as he's posted a YouTube video, explaining his side of the story of what went down with Jive. Take a listen to David talk about his "decision" and how its going to affect his career from now on. (above) So grown up. He's really taking this massive change in stride. Good for him! |
Michael Lohan Blames LiLo's Troubles On Divorce - Again! Posted: 23 Feb 2011 10:40 AM PST We've been watching the live feeds of the Lindsay courtroom drama since it started, and Michael Lohan took to the press stand afterwards. He started off saying that he wasn't going to be talking to the press, but decided that he needed to because of something that had just happened to him while saying goodbye to Lindsay before she got on the elevator. Michael then started in on placing blame for his daughters problems directly on his and his ex-wife Dina Lohan's divorce. We agree that it probably is a big part of it, but not all of it. He brought it up because while he was about saying his goodbyes, Dina squared off against him getting on the elevator with his daughter, which is something he claims he wasn't about to do. We agree that if true, that that's really kind of a mean and vindictive thing to do to someone who is just seeing his daughter off, but he hasn't been always been the shining example of a daddy to her either. It is nice, however, to see him wholeheartedly agree with the judge's comments, as he was asked about them by the press. It does seem like this whole ordeal is getting him focused back on Lindsay's health and well-being! But at the end of his thoughts he circled back around, and he said:
Referring to his ex-wife, of course, and that was the last thing he said before leaving the press to discuss the things he said. It really is sad to see a family in such turmoil. Thoughts?? [Image via WENN.] |

Posted: 23 Feb 2011 09:40 AM PST Oh, woe is daytime television over at ABC. The network just can't seem to get any of its new early-bird programming to work and this might cause trouble for some old favorites. For awhile now, the alphabet network has had several new daytime talks shows in development that they want to get on the air. Problem is, some of their other programming is eating up all their funds and they're finding it difficult to make peace with that. One of the most costly ventures of the network is their lineup of soap operas. Yes, your stories are costing ABC big bucks as they're all running completely over-budget. Like All My Children. The House of Mouse uprooted the show's production to Los Angeles last year in an effort to cut down on costs, but the relocation has made little difference. The show's been on the air for over 40 years, but if they can't find a way to decrease the bottom line, it could be coming to an end. The same goes for One Life to Live, except that they've managed to stay under budget consistently. Problem is, they don't grab as many eyeballs as AMC, so they might be cut loose just to make room. The only show that seems to be safe in ABC's morning lineup is General Hospital. Though they too constantly find themselves over budget, GH remains the networks most popular soap, so its pretty much a safe bet that it won't go anywhere. It's sad to think that even more longtime soaps will be getting the axe. C'mon, ABC, do we really need more talk shows? Really? [Image via WENN.] |
How Sweet! Halle's Ex Will Move To NYC For His Daughter Posted: 23 Feb 2011 09:30 AM PST What a relief to see something nice happen amidst so much custody dramz between these two! Last week, Halle Berry was granted permission by a judge to bring daughter Nahla to NYC with her, so she can shoot her new role in New Year's Eve. Even though Halle's ex Gabriel Aubry was against the idea, he has not only accepted it, but he will put everything on hold and move to NYC while Halle shoots the movie so he can care for his daughter. Very sweet! The children should always come first, and we give Gabriel a lot of credit for this move. Here's what a source had to say about the situation:
Good for you, Gabriel! Thanks for putting your daughter first. You've gained some serious points with us! [Image via WENN.] |
