Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie do ‘Moneyball’ premiere in Tokyo: hot or meh?

Angelina in COLOR. Dear God, is the end nigh? These are photos from the Tokyo, Japan premiere of Moneyball. I saw Moneyball and really, really liked it, and I'm not even a baseball person. The Japanese like baseball, though. Right? I mean, I'm not trying to generalize about an entire nation, but baseball is a popular sport over there, correct? I believe it is, so I imagine they'll like the film.

Anyway, Angelina is wearing this RED(!!!!!!!) dress. I can't find the designer ID, but I suspect it's L'Wren Scott, just because of the way the bust is cut - that's the way L'Wren does it, and Angelina has worn similar L'Wren dresses and gowns before. She does well in L'Wren (and Versace). I wish she would wear sexy, well-cut dresses like this more often. I wish she would wear color more often too. She also looks like she's put on a little bit of much-needed weight. Her boobs look great, and her midsection looks a bit fuller. Her arms are still pretty bony though. Also: RED LIPS. Goodness.

rtr2ts47

As for Brad… Jeez, look how long his hair is. Is this his new thing? Growing out body, facial or head hair randomly? His hair was longish a few months ago when he was filming World War Z in Scotland and England, and I believe he's still filming that interminable sci-fi film still, now in Budapest. I think the difference in hair length will probably be justified because the film moves back and forth in time. Maybe long-haired Brad is the super-future Brad. I don't know. I kind of like him with longer hair.

The Duggars defend new pregancy, say they spend time with their kids

img_3101
Yesterday Michelle and Jim-Bob Duggar and their 19 kids, daughter in law and two grandchildren were on the Today Show to gleefully announce Michelle’s pregnancy at 45 with what will be her 20th child. The collective response seemed to be “give it a rest already,” “don’t you have enough?” and “this family is a cult.” It was bizarre to see how happy the parents were compared to how understandably dazed all of their children seemed during the announcement. Plus Michelle acted like it was no biggie to her that both she and her last baby almost died while giving birth the last time. She had the time to work out an hour a day, she explained, and this was the longest she’d ever gone between pregnancies. Well now Michelle and Jim-Bob are defending the fact that they’re having even more kids. They say, predictably, that every child is a gift from God, that they spend a lot of time with their kids since they homeschool them (and ensure they’re not exposed to any scientific concepts that would put their beliefs into question) and that there’s no reason not to have another baby just because Michelle had so many medical problems during her last pregnancy.

“Every child deserves to be excited they are a part of life,” Michelle tells PEOPLE after just revealing that she is pregnant with her 20th child. “Even when we were having our 5th and 6th [kid] … we would celebrate each pregnancy.”

The reality stars have faced mounting criticism over the size of their family and the risks of Michelle’s new pregnancy following the premature birth of their daughter, Josie, in Dec. 2009. But the couple insists that Josie’s frightening premature birth and Michelle’s life-threatening preeclampsia were not enough to convince them that 19 kids were enough.

“If we felt that way, we would have stopped back with our second birth,” insists Michelle, 45, who experienced preeclampsia during her second pregnancy with twins John David and Jana, now 21. “There are many women who have experienced preeclampsia and have gone on to have more children.”

“That whole mind set that you stop after a problem pregnancy isn’t realistic,” she continues. “You may encounter struggles along the way. You may not have a perfect pregnancy, but each child is a precious gift.”

The Duggars, who star on TLC’s 19 Kids and Counting, live debt free in a house they built themselves in Tontitown, Ark. They have also come under fire from those suggesting that their older kids have too much responsibility caring for the younger ones and that they don’t pay enough individual attention to their kids.

“We homeschool, so we are around our children day in and day out,” says Jim Bob, 46. “Because I am in real estate, I am home and can be with the children a lot. When we go to the store or run errands, we take the kids one on one and we get to spend more time individually than a lot of parents do.”

Michelle, who is under the care of a high-risk pregnancy doctor, agrees: “The beauty of being in a large family,” she says, “is that everyone works together as a team and it is about teaching our children responsibility.”

And, she says, the family doesn’t take their critics to heart.

“There are a lot of good things we can learn from our critics,” she says. “We really believe we are following our faith and there are sometimes going to be people who don’t agree and we aren’t going to worry about the negative things stated.”

“We are thankful for those out there who are happy,” says Michelle, “and we are grateful for each and every gift of a child.”

[From People]

Michelle is not fulfilled unless she’s pregnant or currently has a baby under one. It makes me wonder if she’ll have some sort of breakdown after menopause, or if she’ll finally start to pay attention to her older kids. Maybe she’ll become more self-centered and get a new hairstyle for once. As I’ve said before, I do hope that this pregnancy is a healthy one for her. I just hope it’s her last. She surely doesn’t feel that way.

Blake Lively versus Zoe Kravitz: which of Penn Badgely’s girls looked better?

These are photos from last night's launch of Versace's collection for H&M. It got a pretty good turnout, with Blake Lively being one of the bigger names there. This is the Blake that we got to know when she was dating Penn Badgley - the famous Boobs Legsy, the girl who would jack up her (fake?) boobs to high heaven and then add a nonexistent mini-skirt. I mean, I actually like this outfit, and I hope Blake continues to dress like this because it's her "thing" - it's her "signature". She lives to show off her body. She didn't do it as much when she was dating Leonardo DiCaprio, and I get the feeling that Ryan Reynolds has a weird effect on his ladies - something about the GerbilDong makes them want to cover up and de-sexify. But here's hoping that Blake's snooze fest relationship with Ryan doesn't end up badly like ScarJo's.

wenn3600161

wenn3600174

Also there: Blake's ex's new girlfriend, Zoe Kravitz. Penn Badgley wasn't there, unfortunately, because I would have loved to have seen that. But I think Penn and Blake are still friendly-ish. So maybe it wouldn't have been drama. Still, if you're Penn's current girl and you're looking at his former girl with all of her boobs and legs on display, wouldn't you have wanted to look better than this? I despise her baby-bangs-trauma too.

And here's Jessica Alba looking rough and Emma Roberts, who I thought looked like a crackhead in this outfit.

Kris Humphries really was blindsided & he refuses to sign the divorce papers

Posted: 09 Nov 2011 07:29 AM PST

Time for today's stories in the ongoing Kardashian-Humphries Saga For The Ages. In today's episode, Kris Humphries's dad William gives an exclusive interview to Life & Style, for the cover story in which Kim Kardashian is apparently being called out for her disastrous plan to profit from a tacky wedding and then divorce the man that she barely even liked. Still, Kris seems slightly sympathetic here.

In an exclusive interview with Life & Style, Kris Humphries’ dad, William Humphries, opens up his about his son’s reaction to Kim Kardashian’s filing for divorce and reveals how Kris is now coping with the split.

"There was never a discussion about it — it just came out of nowhere and blindsided Kris," William claims in the new issue of Life & Style, on newsstands now. "How could someone do that? Kris was completely surprised. The news was already published before he found out!"

While a rep for Kim insists Kris did know the divorce was coming, friends and family say Kris, now back in his hometown of Chanhassen, Minn,. is still heartbroken.

"He's hurting, but we're here for him," William reveals to Life & Style. "It's nice that he's here [in Minnesota] with family during this time."

Kris was so hurt by the news that he refused to even speak to his wife — until she surprised him by flying to Minnesota on Nov. 6 to hash out the details of the divorce.

"Kris told me that Kim was texting him a lot, but he wouldn't respond," his friend tells Life & Style. "They did speak briefly the day the split was announced — but only because Kim was apparently pissed that Kris had released his own statement."

"It's not a nice situation. No matter how you look at it, he's going through a divorce," William adds.

Not only is Kris refusing to sign the divorce papers drawn up by Kim's high-powered attorney Laura Wasser, but Kris is fighting with Kim over the wedding gifts.

"Kris is disgusted that Kim is making a donation to the Dream Foundation," a friend of Kris' says. "The gifts cost people a lot of money. They should be able to get their money back."

[From Life & Style & Hollywood Life]

According to Hollywood Life, Kim's reason for visiting Minnesota was not in any way about a reconciliation either. Their source says, "Kim visited Kris so that he wouldn't talk to the press. She was making sure that he wouldn't do 'anything stupid' and 'law low' and not talk to any media outlets about their relationship. She seems more about controlling how her brand is affected than reconciling the relationship." Apparently, they weren't even left alone for one moment during the trip either.

Meanwhile, OK! Magazine is still trying to make Reggie and Kim happen all over again. I don't think Reggie is interested at the moment (he issued a statement saying that he had no plans to see her), but you never know… I actually think they might have a chance at reconciling - even more so than Kim and Kris.

They never lost touch, not even in the exciting first days of her engagement to Kris Humphries. But now that her marriage is all but over, Kim Kardashian has turned to her ex-boyfriend NFL star Reggie Bush for comfort. The pair, who dated on and off for three years before splitting in March 2010, talked for three hours after Kim announced her plans to divorce.

"Immediately following the divorce announcement, Reggie reached out to Kim to let her know that he was always there for her if she needed someone to talk to," says a Kim confidante. "Kim still loves Reggie deeply. She never got over that; she doesn't think she ever will. She says he is her one true love."

REGGIE IS KIM'S ROCK
Since Kim, 31, filed for divorce on Oct. 31, she and Reggie, 26, who's currently in Miami where he plays for the Dolphins, have communicated via text message, phone and computer — culminating in a long, heartfelt conversation via Skype in the days before she met with Kris on Nov. 6.

"Reggie and Kim made a date to talk uninterrupted," a friend of the football player confides. "Kim just feels really lost right now, and she isn't sure who to trust or who she should turn to. Reggie is one of the few people who make her feel safe."

Kim confided to Reggie how disappointed she was in her marriage to Kris, which lasted just 72 days, and how she came to realize that she jumped into the union too quickly.

"Reggie was just so patient listening to it all. He let Kim just pour her heart out to him for the first hour."

"Reggie has a calming effect on Kim," says the Kim confidant. "He really has such a positive outlook, and he made Kim remember that she is blessed."

THERE'S STILL LOVE THERE
Over their three-hour conversation, Kim didn't just complain about her marriage. She and Reggie also talked about their relationship. "It was a heartfelt talk: They laughed; they flirted; Kim cried," says the confidante. "It began to seem like old times."

Though there were reports that Kim and Reggie had already met up for lunch in NYC on Oct. 29, a Kim insider says their in-person reunion hasn't happened yet — but it will.

"Before they said goodbye on Skype, they made plans to see each other in person soon," says the insider.

Reggie has been dating Melissa Molinaro, a 29-year-old model (who bears more than a passing resemblance to Kim) since the summer, but that doesn't mean he ever stopped thinking about Kim.

"Reggie loves Kim; I'm not sure if he's still in love with her, but he still loves her without question," his friend explains. "He never felt about any woman the way he did about Kim. I haven't heard him utter one nasty or negative thing since the split happened."

Reggie is also one of the few people in Kim's life who hasn't passed judgment on her failed marriage or made harsh jokes about the spectacle she made of her August wedding.

"Whenever you mentioned it, Reggie just would say he wished Kim the best and all the happiness in the world," says his pal. "He's a real class act. He loved that girl with his whole heart. Probably still does."

By the time Kim got off the phone with Reggie and began to pack for her trip to see Kris in Minneapolis, she was feeling better and more confident.

"She felt like she lost a little bit of herself when she was with Kris," explains her friend, adding that talking with Reggie helped her get back on track.

"Kim is finally taking responsibility for her actions," says another pal. "It's been a growing experience. She is happy that she's got her family behind her and Reggie. If this ends up bringing Reggie back into her life in a bigger way, then that's one positive thing that came out of this whole experience."

[From OK! Magazine]

So, basically, according to this story the whole Kris Humphries thing was just an epic plot to win Reggie back. Sort of. And it sort of worked. I'm telling you - even though Reggie probably doesn't want to be seen this way, I think he probably would give Kim another chance. He's dating a girl who looks just like her, for the love of God.

Is Mariah Yeater telling the truth or is she a whack job out for money and attention?

Posted: 09 Nov 2011 07:10 AM PST

I’ve said up until now that I find Mariah Yeater’s story that Justin Bieber is the father of her baby believable. This was based on the allegations in the press, the assertions of her lawyers, and the first half of her interview with The Insider, which aired Monday. On Monday’s interview, Yeater detailed her alleged hookup with Bieber, and claimed she had additional evidence that would come out at trial. She was crying and she appeared genuinely nervous and upset. However truth expert Eyes for Lies analyzed Yeater’s story and behavior in that interview and came to the conclusion that she’s not telling the truth. One of the “tells,” according to Eyes, was the lack of detail in Yeater’s story, the fact that she acted uncertain, and her inappropriate affect. What’s more is that in the second half of the interview, aired yesterday (a clip of which is available above), Yeater was even more hesitant and was searching for answers to what should be simple questions if her story is true.

Eyes pointed out that Yeater never stated in that first interview that she tried to contact Bieber’s people first. When she was asked directly about this, (at :50 in the video above) she was very cagey. She was asked “When you tried to contact Justin’s people, what was their reaction?

She scrunched up her face and said “No contact. I didn’t. Nothing. I heard nothing.”

She didn’t what? If someone asked you that question, and you had tried and tried to tell someone that you had their baby, wouldn’t you say something like “They didn’t get back to me and we sent them three letters and called them over ten times?” Like that’s something you would definitely know and be frustrated about.

Then she was asked “When you left the Staples center, what did you say to your mom? What did you tell her?” Yeater waited a few seconds before saying “I told her everything.” Well, where was her mom when she was screwing Justin Bieber in the bathroom? That’s a detail she left out of her story.

When she was asked what her mom thought about this story, she couldn’t even give an answer.

At about 1:30 into the video, she was asked about a paternity suit she filed against her ex boyfriend, John Terranova, last year. I don’t think this the paternity suit detail is accurate per se, I just think that John’s grandmother said Yeater accused John of being the father. We also know Yeater was arrested after confronting Terranova over paternity and allegedly slapping him. Instead of denying that story, Yeater just said “no comment” at first and later “OK,” like “OK,” I did it and I can’t deny it. It was very strange. Then she covered her face with her hand.

When she was asked about what other things might be dug up about her past during the course of this lawsuit, she gave a rambling and weak response. “No one’s past should matter on a future situation or… anything of that matter. I’ve seen, I’ve heard other celebrities’ problem, whatever. It scares me because I’ve seen nothing yet. People can be ruthless.”

Given Bieber’s glib response to this, I initially thought that he was just blowing this woman off. Now that I’ve seen her full interview, she seems like a whack job who is making this story up. We’ll see, though. If she is lying, I hope Bieber’s people sue her for every dime she made doing interviews and selling baby photos.

Oh and props to The Insider people for editing this interview and releasing it in two parts to make her seem credible at first.

Christina Aguilera’s drunk appearance of the week: how puffy does she look?

Posted: 09 Nov 2011 06:55 AM PST

fp_8141318_rij_skyrim_party_43_62

Dear God, how terrible does Christina Aguilera look? A few weeks ago, I noted that Christina was looking a bit better after a series of really awful public appearances, including her uncomfortably bad showing at the Michael Jackson Tribute concert in Wales. Christina seemed to "get" that she needed to stop the boozing and actually ease up on the drag queen makeup - or so I hoped. But her appearance last night at "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Launch Party" just shows that with X-Tina, it's one step forward, ten drunken stumbles back. There's not even anything I can find to compliment in this look. Her makeup is terrible. Her wiglet is completely busted. She looks like the puffy alcoholic she is. The outfit, while terrible, does seem to do its best at hiding some of Christina's problem areas, though. The jacket is Versace, and the shirt is Alexander McQueen.

fp_8141317_rij_skyrim_party_42_62

The Mail notes that this video game launch isn't really Christina's scene, which… makes sense, I guess. She probably just came for the booze. And maybe she thought it would be a fun "date night" with her lover and kept man, Matt Rutler. They were even making out on the red carpet too. These photos are both gross and hilarious. I love the faces Rutler makes when Christina is trying to kiss him. He must be like, "UGH, this drag queen wants to fondle me again. Now I'm going to be smeared with clown makeup for the rest of the night." Of course, Rutler looks drunk too. They probably shared a bottle of whiskey before their "date night".

Mariah Carey has lost 30 to 70 pounds on Jenny Craig, does 1500 calories a day

Posted: 09 Nov 2011 06:29 AM PST

mariah1

Do you know how much I hate talking about diets? I really do. Maybe it's because I don't have the kind of willpower to follow Atkins or The Zone or whatever juice craze or whatever, or maybe it's just because I think it's a stupid subject to discuss in detail. I'm just not one of those girls who can talk about diets endlessly. But I'm not Mariah Carey. Mariah can talk about diets for a really long time. Now. She couldn't before, because she was on fertility treatments and she had gained weight and kept it on for more than a year before she got pregnant with twins Roc & Roe. Now that she's given birth and spent the last six months getting back into shape, and she wants to tell us all about it. She covers the new issue of Us Weekly, plus she appeared on yesterday's Rosie O'Donnell show. There's some mixed messaging happening here, but first, here's Us Weekly's cover excerpt:

“Shake It Off,” indeed! Six months after welcoming twins Moroccan and Monroe, Mariah Carey has lost 30 pounds — and shows off her toned legs and flat stomach in size-6 short-shorts on the stunning new cover of Us Weekly, out now.

“I gained an enormous amount of weight,” the Grammy-winner superstar tells Us of welcoming her son and daughter April 30 with hubby Nick Cannon. How’d she slim down? Beginning in July, Carey buckled down with a nutritionist and a workout plan from Jenny (formerly Jenny Craig), keeping to a 1,500-calorie-a-day menu and thrice-weekly workouts.

“I feel incredible,” the “Fly Like a Bird” singer tells Us, three months after her body transformation began. She and Cannon, 31, famously struggled to conceive their twins (born via C-section at 35 weeks) after a heartbreaking miscarriage.

“It was a huge blessing to be able to have the babies,” Carey says, “But I felt trapped in my body because I couldn’t move.”

Adds the once-again svelte star: “I’m proud of how hard I worked to get my body back…I had to do this for me.”

[From Us Weekly]

30 pounds? I love Mariah, but bitch please. She's lost a lot more than 30 pounds, because I remember how heavy she was before and during her pregnancy. Mariah kind of knows it too, because she changed the number when she was on Rosie's show, although she has a good reason - she had edema, and she claims she had 40 pounds of water weight.

Mariah Carey wasn’t shy about showing off her baby bump when she was pregnant with now-6-month-old twins Moroccan and Monroe Cannon. And now, she’s positively ecstatic about unveiling her hot new post-baby body after losing, she says, a full 70 lbs.

On Tuesday’s episode of The Rosie Show on OWN, Carey, 42, was lowered diva-style onto the stage riding on a crescent moon and wearing a skin-tight black mini-skirt and cleavage-baring leather jacket. She then explained her new physique was courtesy of a strict diet and exercise – along with the loss of what she says is about 40 lbs. of water due to a difficult pregnancy.

“In the beginning, when I first had the babies, I had so much edema … water and swelling. Most pregnant woman have that just in their feet,” Carey says. “One day I was doing my thank-you notes and I noticed it started rising up the leg, so I had edema. … I didn’t think I would ever be the same person.”

Diet Plan Spokeswoman
Once she’d shed the water weight, Carey embarked on the Jenny diet plan (formerly Jenny Craig), for which she now serves as a spokeswoman.

“The first week, I lost 40 lbs. … of just water,” Carey says. “It was just water, initially. When I started with the program, I lost at least 30 lbs. of weight that needed to be lost.”

And, says Carey, it wasn’t all about appearance. Carrying so much extra weight made everyday tasks, including going to the bathroom, a challenge.

“I had a really tough pregnancy,” she says. “I was supposed to be on bed rest, but it was so bad that even bed hurt. … I learned a lot being pregnant, watching my body change.” She adds, “The whole point of this is not just like: ‘Oh, hey, look at me and my weight loss, I’m fantastic.’ It’s really health. Like I said, I learned it when I became helpless and felt so vulnerable like never before in my life.”

How She Did It
Because she had a Cesarean section, Carey says exercise wasn’t an option early on. So, she says, “The diet is 90 percent of it.” Remembering to eat was one of her biggest challenges because, she says, she believes if she goes too long without refueling, “You slow down your metabolism.”

For her, it was important “being able to just grab something. I like the soups a lot. It’s 50 calories. I gotta say I like the snacks too.”

Carey also regained her fitness by exercising with her dogs and doing workouts in the ocean. One thing she won’t stick with once she meets her goal.

“I never weighed myself,” she explains. “People will think I’m a liar but it’s true. This is another cliché phrase, I’m a big boned girl … I’m tall and so I always weigh more.”

Instead of weighing herself, she says, “I would tend to go, ‘Does this size dress fit me that I wore three years ago? I’m good, let’s go.’ I would go by what it looked like, how I felt.”

[From People]

OK, she sounds healthy. I like that Mariah's not too fancy to do Jenny Craig, but I still think there are some funny numbers going on with the actual weight loss versus water retention. Also: you know how I hate to talk about medical stuff because I can actually feel that stuff happening to me because I'm such a crazy hypochondriac and an easy mark for the power of medical persuasion? Well, I looked up Edema (here) and it sounds way more serious than what Mariah is talking about. It's a serious medical condition, not just something you pee out in a week. In any case, I think Mariah probably has lost close to 70 pounds in total, but I don't buy her breakdown of regular weight to water weight. And I love that she doesn't weight herself either - neither do I, because, in my mind, my mega-boobs always skew the number. Shut up.

Nicole Richie shows off her implants in Antonio Berardi: cute or busted?

Posted: 09 Nov 2011 05:29 AM PST

wenn5751415

I think we generally have to give Nicole Richie a lot of credit for turning her life around. I mean, at one point she was as annoying (or even more so) than Paris Hilton. But she managed to get clean and become a wife and mother and have a seemingly stable life and now she's a productive member of society, and people root for her and actually like her. But besides all of that, I think we should also give Nicole credit for knowing her own body and for understanding what looks good on her. Yes, I get tired of the hippie crap and the boho trend is over. But when Nicole really tries, she looks great.

So it was at the ACE Awards two nights ago. Nicole was there, she was wearing this sleek, pretty, clean Antonio Berardi gown, and she was showing off her recent breast implants. This is the first good look I've had at them in a low-cut gown, and I have to say… they look really good. These are wonky, mismatched LeAnn Rimes-style bolt-ons. Nicole's implants look appropriate on her frame and she went for a modest size. I'm thinking she's a B-cup now, which is probably close to what she was before she had her babies and nursed her boobs away (that was the reasoning Nicole gave to friends).

I also think she's darkened her blonde, right? It was a rather garish "California blonde" but it's looking darker these days. I'm still not loving the too-long bangs, but it looks like she's trying to grow them out. *fingers crossed*

Brett Ratner resigns as Oscar producer after making a gay slur

Posted: 09 Nov 2011 05:21 AM PST

fp_7374636_rattner_brett_per_02_03

First of all: LOOK AT HIS FEET. Brett Ratner has tiny, delicate little feet, right? Yikes. That does not bode well. Anyway, you know how Brett Ratner made some rather disgusting comments about Olivia Munn? He said stuff like, "She wasn't Asian back then… I banged her a few times … but I forgot her." And, "She made up all these stories about me eating shrimp and masturbating in my trailer. And my shortcomings. She talked about my shortcomings. I get it. She's bitter." Then Brett tried to take it back, apologizing, calling Olivia a "friend" and saying, "She's actually talented. The problem is I made her look like she's a whore."

Well, good news. Brett has gotten a pass for all of that. It seems like Hollywood in general doesn't care if a Hollywood director disrespects and says nasty things about a young actress (probably because that actress said nasty things about the director too). They only care when the director says something like, "Rehearsal is for f-gs." THAT comment will get you in hot water. That's what Brett said last week, and he tried to apologize for it, but now he's had to resign from producing the next Oscar telecast.

Director Brett Ratner submitted his resignation as a producer of the 84th Annual Academy Awards Tuesday after coming under fire for making a gay slur.

“He did the right thing for the academy and for himself,” Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences President Tom Sherak said Tuesday afternoon. “Words have meaning, and they have consequences. Brett is a good person, but his comments were unacceptable. We all hope this will be an opportunity to raise awareness about the harm that is caused by reckless and insensitive remarks, regardless of the intent.”

In a Q&A session last weekend after a screening of his new film, "Tower Heist," Ratner said, "rehearsal is for fags.” He then went on Howard Stern’s Sirius XM show and talked about masturbation, cunnilingus, pubic hair, the size of his testicles, his sexual encounter with Lindsay Lohan. Ratner apologized Monday and Sherak seemed to accept his apology, but the drumbeat of criticism continued Tuesday, culminating in Ratner’s resignation. It was not immediately clear whether Ratner’s handpicked host, Eddie Murphy, would also leave the show, scheduled for late February. Ratner and Murphy did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Ratner’s resignation letter read:

An Open Letter to the Entertainment Industry from Brett Ratner
Dear Colleagues,

Over the last few days, I've gotten a well-deserved earful from many of the people I admire most in this industry expressing their outrage and disappointment over the hurtful and stupid things I said in a number of recent media appearances. To them, and to everyone I've hurt and offended, I'd like to apologize publicly and unreservedly.

As difficult as the last few days have been for me, they cannot compare to the experience of any young man or woman who has been the target of offensive slurs or derogatory comments. And they pale in comparison to what any gay, lesbian, or transgender individual must deal with as they confront the many inequalities that continue to plague our world. So many artists and craftspeople in our business are members of the LGBT community, and it pains me deeply that I may have hurt them. I should have known this all along, but at least I know it now: words do matter. Having love in your heart doesn't count for much if what comes out of your mouth is ugly and bigoted. With this in mind, and to all those who understandably feel that apologies are not enough, please know that I will be taking real action over the coming weeks and months in an effort to do everything I can both professionally and personally to help stamp out the kind of thoughtless bigotry I've so foolishly perpetuated.

As a first step, I called Tom Sherak this morning and resigned as a producer of the 84th Academy Awards telecast. Being asked to help put on the Oscar show was the proudest moment of my career. But as painful as this may be for me, it would be worse if my association with the show were to be a distraction from the Academy and the high ideals it represents.

I am grateful to GLAAD for engaging me in a dialogue about what we can do together to increase awareness of the important and troubling issues this episode has raised and I look forward to working with them. I am incredibly lucky to have a career in this business that I love with all of my heart and to be able to work alongside so many of my heroes. I deeply regret my actions and I am determined to learn from this experience.

Sincerely,
Brett Ratner

Well, he fell on his sword with grace at least. I think he made the right decision for his longterm career - he totally could have bullied his way past the critics and fought and won his way to producing the Oscar telecast, but he would have been the focus rather than the actual awards, and the controversy would probably have gotten dragged out for months. It's smart that he knew that his best option was to step aside, and now people will say, "Did he really have to step aside? Didn't we hire him to bring in a younger audience? Couldn't this have been a teachable moment?" Which is a better place to be in if you're Brett Ratner.

Jennifer Garner: Rachel Zoe won’t let me wear maternity clothes!

If you've been watching The Rachel Zoe Project for long enough, you get to know how Rachel works with some of her bigger clients. Most of the big names don't actually want to appear on the show, but Rachel must have worn some of them down, because many end up doing at least one appearance. You get an idea of these celebrities not only from their brief appearances, but by how Rachel and her staff talk about the clients. Like, Zoe Saldana comes across as a know-it-all pill who thinks she can pull off anything straight from the runway. Kate Hudson seems flaky and self-absorbed, and she and Rachel have a very sycophantic relationship. Johnny Weir is always fabulous, and he can work stilettos better than most women. Demi Moore is a demanding perfectionist about her "look". Cameron Diaz wants what no one else has, and Rachel will do anything to get it for her.

Quite honestly, Jennifer Garner comes across the best out of all of Zoe's clients. I may hate Garner's casual style - which I'm guessing she does herself - but on red carpets, Jennifer pretty much just wears what Rachel tells her to wear, and she can look decent/good to great. Garner even did a sit-down interview once for TRZP, and she admitted that she really doesn't know much about fashion, but whatever she's learned, she's learned at Rachel Zoe's feet. I get the feeling that Zoe pushes Garner to wear more vintage, to really pour on the glamour for big occasions, and to go with big designers like Oscar de la Renta and Valentino instead of experimenting with lesser-known labels.

Anyway, now I know something else about Rachel Zoe's relationship with Garner - Jennifer claims that Rachel won't let her wear maternity clothes. Rough!

Before giving birth in March, stylist Rachel Zoe was one of the most fashionable pregnant women in Hollywood — so it comes as no surprise that her client Jennifer Garner is too.

“Rachel is still determined not to put me in maternity clothes,” Garner, 39, told reporters at a special screening of Butter at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood Sunday.

“I think she was so little when she was pregnant, she didn’t wear them. Sooner or later, she is going to have to put me in them!” Garner laughed. “Eventually that’s going to happen, but so far she’s gotten her way!”

The Lanvin-clad actress — currently expecting her third child with husband of six years Ben Affleck, 39 — added that she has about “four months to go” until her due date.

“Jen has always wanted three kids,” a source recently told Us Weekly. “This was her plan all along.”

So I'm guessing that the wrinkled Lanvin is not maternity-wear? Ugh. On one side, I understand that Rachel is just trying to ensure that her client have the best styles available to her and maybe Rachel is taking this as a personal challenge to find great clothes that will work as maternity-wear. On the other side, it feels like Rachel expects every girl she works with to starve, even when they're pregnant. Rough.
