Jay-Z & Beyonce Have Gone "Partially Vegan" Since Pregnancy + Lady Gaga DISHES To Steve Stoute About The Throne And Hip Hop's Impact On Her Music

Posted: 16 Dec 2011 09:43 AM PST

Since the announcement of her pregnancy, it's been revealed that Jay-Z and Beyonce have gone partially vegan. Get the deets on their new lifestyle inside and hear Lady Gaga sing the praises of Watch The Throne while talking to Steve Stoute about The Tanning Effect and how it changed her music.

Jay-Z is clearly a "hands-on Dad" having adopted his wife Beyonce's eating habits since her pregnancy.

A source close to the couple revealed to US Weekly that since Bey's pregnancy, the couple are maintaining a "partially vegan diet."  The source said,

"Jay's trying to be disciplined, and he needs the energy to support her."

Clearly the vegan diet is giving them a lot of energy as the couple were recently spotted "dancing up a storm" at The Spare Room at the Hollywood Roosevelt.  "They were loved up and sweet together [and] partied until 4 a.m." the source said.

Also in music...

In the latest edition of his series "The Tanning Effect" best-selling author Steve Stoute talks to Lady Gaga about the global impact of hip hop and how it has inspired her.

Lady Gaga on what’s on her iPod:

I listen to a lot of heavy metal and a lot of old rock & roll and glam music. But actually recently I’ve been listening to the new ‘Ye and Jay record [Watch The Throne] kind of on repeat. I love it. Not only do I love the music—and I’ve always felt that Jay-Z and Kanye [West] are ahead of their time…the video for “Otis” is just something so incredible about the fact that they took this car [and destroyed it]. Years ago they would’ve shined the Maybach up, waxed it, shined a beautiful light off of it, and would’ve heralded the newness, and expensiveness, and the luxury of the vehicle. And yet, they walk in, and they fuck this car up, and it’s all about saying, “Hip-hop has changed and we’re moving in a new direction.”

On hip-hop’s influence on her music:

I think it was always the lifestyle of hip-hop, the sort-of celebration of decadence is the cherry on top of success. After you eat shit in the industry for so long, once you make it to the top you bring all of your friends with you and you celebrate. That was always my favorite thing about my favorite hip-hop artists. In fact, it influenced me so much that when I would be interviewed early on in my career about my success&amdash;and I would be so confident about it, so forthright about it—people would say, “Well, she’s this female pop singer. She’s from New York. She’s [22 years old]. Why is she talking like that?” But I was raised through music watching and idolizing these people that come from the streets or worked from the ground up. I thought, “Well, if you really worked for it—which I did—you should emulate that sort of gratitude.”

On transcending race, age, and sexual orientation:

The most basic thing I can say is that there’s nothing exclusive about what I do; nothing exclusive about the music; nothing exclusive about the approach; nothing exclusive about who’s invited to the party. Everybody’s invited to our party. There’s really no group or lifestyle that I don’t sing about. In a way, it’s the inclusion of all types of people to come together and get to know one another that’s sort of the greatest thing about the Monster Ball.

MAGAZINE FAB: Frank Ocean GETS STYLISH For The December 2011 Issue Of "L’UOMO VOGUE"

Posted: 16 Dec 2011 07:32 AM PST

Frank Ocean, one of the music industry's breakout talents off 2011, gets super stylish for the December 2011 issue of "L'Uomo Vogue." In the issue he addresses his fantastic year and writing style. Get the deets inside.....

In the December issue "L'Uomo Vogue" Frank Ocean, a member of the Odd Future collective, dishes on his writing technique and his fabulous career in the industry and what will change once he is president.

On being called an R&B artist:

“I’ll usually cringe at the R&B label. Because it’s like calling it urban…and what the fuck is urban music?”

On working with Kanye and Jay, as well as writing music for Beyoncé:

"Career-wise, this year feels like a montage scene in a movie."

On politics:

“My generation just doesn’t have the best taste in leadership. And weak leadership means little to no cohesion. If there’s no cohesion, there’s no real chance for effective protest or politics. Obviously, looking at Occupy Wall Street, there are a few in our bunch who still give a damn enough to rally and shout. This will change once I’m elected President.”

On changing his name from Christopher "Lonny" Breaux to Christopher Frank Ocean:

"It was like a middle finger to my slave name"

FOOLYWANG: Chicago Bears Receiver Sam Hurd BUSTED For Possession And Intent To Distribute COKE!

Posted: 15 Dec 2011 01:30 PM PST

Despite making good money as a professional football player for the Dallas Cowboys and the Chicago Bears, Sam Hurd was busted in Chicago yesterday for possession and intent to distribute. And wait until you find out what he planned to distribute....it's right out of "The Wire."

Maybe NFL money isn't long enough because Chicago Bears receiver Sam Hurd was busted last night after making an attempt to become a Chicago kingpin.

It all started after Sam accepted a kilogram of cocaine from a undercover federal agent outside a Chicago restaurant.  Sam was charged with one count of conspiring to possess half a kilogram of cocaine with the intent to distribute it.

But here's what's interesting, the conversation that went down between Sam and the federal agent reads like a scene from "The Wire." According to the Chicago Tribune,

"...Hurd negotiated to buy five to 10 kilograms of cocaine and 1,000 pounds of marijuana a week for distribution in the Chicago area, authorities alleged. He agreed to pay $25,000 for each kilogram of cocaine and $450 a pound for the marijuana, according to the charges. Hurd said at the meeting that he plays for the Bears, gets out of practice at about 5:30 p.m., and would pay them on the next day, authorities said. Bears players are paid on Thursdays. Hurd told the undercover agent and informant that he and someone else distributed about four kilograms of cocaine each week in the Chicago area but that their supplier wasn't able to meet their needs...."

SMH.....was he seriously thinking he was going to play pro-ball AND be an undercover drug kingpin?

The Chicago Bears were made aware of the arrest and they said,

"We are aware of Sam's arrest and are continuing to gather details surrounding it. We are disappointed whenever these circumstances arise. We will deal with them appropriately once we have all the information."

Then one of Sam's teammates, Bears receiver Roy Williams, spoke out saying,

"It's a situation I don't want anyone to be in, especially a close friend, a teammate that I have been playing with now for four or five years now, especially a guy from Texas with a wife and daughter.  So, it's tough for me just because I am not into drugs or anything like that. I know it has to be tough for him because he has his family. It's a choice he made and there are consequences with choices that you make."

So what drives a pro-baller to the drug trade?  It shouldn't have been money problems since Sam's  three-year contract with the Bears had a maximum value of $5.15 million ($4.15 million base total), and he got a $1.35 million signing bonus.  Plus his base pay this season was $685,000.

As of now, the case is bing handled by the U.S. Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Dallas.  He is scheduled to appear in federal court tomorrow.

We will keep you posted......

“It doesn’t bring my brother back—that would be the ultimate—but the best was done at that moment.
