Jury Deliberations In Dr. Conrad Murray Trial Have Begun

Posted: 04 Nov 2011 01:10 PM PDT

For the sake of those documentary filmmakers, hopefully this thing ends well! (And yes, we're rolling our eyes at that).

The Dr. Conrad Murray trial is coming to a close, and the jury deliberations have officially begun.

Based on all the evidence that's been presented, we can tell you now that it is NOT looking good for Dr. Murray.

The prosecution has contended that Murray's usage of "the surigical anesthetic propofol" for Michael Jackson's insomnia was "criminally negligent."

On the other end, the defense contends that MJ gave himself the fatal dosage of propofol, without Dr. Murray's knowledge.

No decision has been made yet, but after hearing Los Angeles County Deputy District Attorney David Walgren's closing statement, it's hard to imagine a scenario where Dr. Murray gets off:

"Conrad Murray left Prince, Paris and Blanket without a father. For them, this case doesn't end today, or tomorrow. For Michael's children, this case will go on forever, because they do not have a father, they do not have a father because of the actions of Conrad Murray."

So sad. We'd expect to find out more very soon...

Or, as he is better known in polite circles who can look past the lightening scar, Daniel Radcliffe.

Every year, Macy's Thanksgiving Parade does all it can to out-do itself from the year before. For this year's festivities, they've managed to wrangle up some big stars and big performances for their Turkey Day celebrations.

Slated to be performing this year at the parade are Mary J. Blige, Cobra Starship, Neil Diamond, Cee-Lo Green, Avril Lavigne, Scotty McCreery, Daniel Radcliffe and the cast of Broadway's How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying and more!

Oh, and least us not forget ... SANTA!

Remember when stores and people had to wait until after the parade was open to declare it Christmas season? The good old days!

We had no doubts when Conan O'Brien announced that he'd be officiating a same-sex marriage on his show that he'd go through with it. Conan is rad so it's completely in his nature to do such a rad thing!

It was a short but adorable ceremony, with both grooms' vows leaving us a little teary-eyed!

Miss Virginia Claims Homophobic Attack Isn't In Her Character

Posted: 04 Nov 2011 11:50 AM PDT

Miss Virginia has been accused of going on a homophobic tirade against her roommate Derek Powell, but both she and the pageant say that the claim is unfounded and that there is no reason for that to be true.

If it is though, that sucks, Nikki Poteet.

If it isn't true, then those trying to throw shade at her name are doing a pretty terrible thing too.

Here's what Nikki said:

"It is unfortunate that, during my last days as Miss Virginia USA, individuals would make these accusations against me, as I currently, and will continue to, show respect and support for diversity throughout the Commonwealth. Those that know me will agree that these accusations are inconsistent with my character and the reputation that I have built thus far, not only as Miss Virginia USA, but as an educated, hard-working, independent woman."

Here's what the pageant had to say:

"We take those accusations seriously and have looked into this. Sadly, the claims are here say and unsubstantiated and therefore the article should never have been published. Nikki has been a terrific titleholder and has made many appearances across the state and beyond during her year of service. We have only received praise and good press from many people and organizations, as she has worked diligently as Miss Virginia USA 2011 and we will miss her greatly."

We're not positive how you can "look into this" in any way other than just asking Nikki, "Hey, so, um, did you say these things?"

Which could easily be answered with a "nope" and then where do you go with your investigation anyway?

Here's the response from one of the witnesses, who somehow loses credibility by being one of the people attacked and because he's a friend:

"I was there to witness her actions Saturday night and was one of the ones she actually put her hands on and called a 'faggot.' The text message in the article is from her cell phone number and she has yet to apologize for any wrong doing."

The pageant's response:

"I have heard Nikki's side and I read your message. I imagine those that agree with you are your friends and it is a your group against Nikki and Aaron. So, since I was not present, I cannot make a judgment. I do not agree with slurs or violence and we of course take such accusations seriously. I am gay and I love Nikki and I firmly believe she is not homophobic. I am aware that she has not gotten along with her roommates for many months, so I question the motives of whoever sent the story to be published. It appears rather vindictive and serves no good purpose.

Um, it serves a good purpose if she did it -- which you weren't able to find definitively if she didn't!

But, like we said, it IS totally possible that she didn't. We're not even leaning one way or the other. We just don't agree with how the pageant is handling it. This -- "I am gay and I love Nikki and I firmly believe she is not homophobic." -- is not being impartial regardless of who is right and who is wrong at this point, and as the institution it's your duty not to choose sides based on personal opinion if something like this comes up! It's a huge deal and a huge accusation!

They should just stick to the fact that nobody can prove it either way, unfortunately, and that that's just where they'll have to leave it.

How do U think they should handle this??

Sad! There's Not Enough Money To Get Funny Girl To Broadway

Posted: 04 Nov 2011 11:40 AM PDT

Everyone make the saddest faces they can. Great, now we're all on the same page.

The exciting news that the seminal Broadway classic Funny Girl was to be revived for Broadway next spring is no longer so exciting as it turns out, producers don't have the money to make it a reality.

Because of a severe shortfall in the budget, Funny Girl has been scrapped for the season and won't be opening in April 2012 as planned. The silver lining is that stars Lauren Ambrose and Bobby Cannavale will stay in place for when the money does come in and while the decision to postpone was a difficult one, the masterminds behind it are confident their ship will come in. Producer Bob Boyett released a statement, saying:

"Given the current economic climate, many Broadway producing investors have found it impossible to maintain their standard level of financial commitment. Our desire to produce Funny Girl on the scale it deserves required a capitalization of $12 million making it one of the most expensive revivals in Broadway history. I am deeply saddened by this decision, but I, along with the finest group of co-producers I have ever had the pleasure to work with — Sonia Friedman, Jean Doumanian, Stacey Mindich and Tim Levy — determined that this was not the right time to bring Funny Girl to the stage."

It WAS! We've been waiting so long to see this back on the stage! We came to terms with not having Lea Michele as Fanny Brice and everything! To see this get shelved now, when we were so close to the previews at the Ahmanson Theatre...

Devastating! Just devastating!

Dirty Dancing Remake Gets A Release Date

Posted: 04 Nov 2011 11:30 AM PDT

Hey, if Kevin Bacon can say positive things about the Footloose remake...MAYBE we should give this a chance as well! Keyword here is "maybe."

Last we heard about Kenny Ortega/Lionsgate's Dirty Dancing remake, they had just hired Monte Carlo writer Maria Maggenti to write the screenplay.

Looks like she'll have plenty of time to make that script GREAT, because the Dirty remake has been given a release date of July 26, 2013.

In the meanwhile, we'll continue to cherish the original and we'll continue pretending that pathetic sequel never happened.

What do U think? Will Kevin Bacon also like the Dirty Dancing remake??? LOLz!
