Christmas Blizzard Of 2010 Is Leaving Folks Stranded From The Carolinas To Maine Posted: 27 Dec 2010 06:00 AM PST A treacherous commute of lashing winds, slick streets and low visibility awaited workers Monday as a winter storm that dumped about a foot of snow on southern New England continued crawling up the East Coast, stranding thousands of airline, bus and rail passengers. The blizzard conditions wreaked havoc on travelers from the Carolinas to Maine and forced the suspension of operations at some of the nation’s busiest airports. Airlines scrambled to rebook passengers on thousands of canceled flights — more than 1,400 out of the New York City area’s three major airports alone — but said they didn’t expect normal service to resume until Tuesday. Amtrak canceled train service from New York to Maine after doing the same earlier for several trains in Virginia. The nation’s largest commuter rail system, New York’s Long Island Rail Road, also suspended service. Bus companies canceled routes up and down the East Coast, and drivers faced hazardous travel conditions — sometimes with close to zero visibility. The storm, the first widespread blizzard of the season, unleashed powerful winds as it moved northward up the coast, dumping up to 18 inches of sideways-blowing snow on some areas. The National Weather Service issued blizzard warnings from Maine to New Jersey with winter storm warnings in effect for nearly the entire East Coast. It said the heaviest snowfall had occurred in eastern New Jersey, New York City and western Long Island. The forecast was for up to 25 inches of snow in parts of the region. Many motorists heeded warnings to stay off of the roads. Traffic moved slowly on the region’s highways, though New York-area bridges and tunnels remained open. Some bridges had reduced speed limits imposed. A blizzard warning, which is issued when snow is accompanied by sustained winds or gusts over 35 mph, was in effect early Monday from Delaware to the far northern tip of Maine. The storm was expected to bring its heaviest snowfall in the pre-dawn hours Monday, sometimes dumping 2 to 4 inches an hour. A total of 12 to 16 inches was expected across nearly all of Rhode Island, Connecticut and eastern Massachusetts, though forecasters said winds of 50 mph could create much deeper snow drifts. States of emergency were declared in North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, New Jersey, Maine and Massachusetts, where Gov. Deval Patrick urged people who did not have to be on the roads to stay home, to ensure their safety and that of work crews. Nonessential state workers were told to stay home Monday. State police in Rhode Island responded to several snow-related car accidents, including at least two rollovers, but no serious injuries were reported. Please be safe out there if this pertains to you!!! Source

San Francisco 49ers Fire Head Coach Mike Singletary Right After The Game Posted: 27 Dec 2010 05:36 AM PST “Hardcore” coach of the San Francisco 49ers, Mike Singletary, no longer has a job: Mike Singletary made a name for himself as a coach with that bold “I want winners!” declaration more than two years ago. Ultimately, he didn’t produce enough victories to save his job. The Hall of Fame linebacker was fired by the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday night after two disappointing seasons, including a 5-10 showing this year for a franchise that expected to win the NFC West. The team made the announcement upon returning to the Bay Area late Sunday, several hours after San Francisco was eliminated from playoff contention with a 25-17 loss at St. Louis. Defensive line coach Jim Tomsula was promoted to interim coach and will run the team in the season finale at home against Arizona. He was to be formally introduced in a news conference Monday. After team president and CEO Jed York told reporters in St. Louis after the loss he would think about whether Singletary would coach the final game, Singletary then was told of his dismissal back at the team’s Santa Clara complex. “I want to thank Mike Singletary for the passion and effort that he brought to this organization,” York said in a statement. “He is a tremendous person for whom I will always have great respect.” York said money wasn’t an object in this decision considering Singletary had two years remaining on his contract. “Obviously, we didn’t achieve the things we set out to achieve. We should be a playoff team,” York said in the locker room. “We aren’t a playoff team this year. Very disappointed about that. We need to figure out how we can get into the playoffs and how we can start competing for Super Bowls.” San Francisco began the year with high hopes of winning the West and reaching the postseason for the first time since 2002. Singletary was 18-22 in two-plus seasons. Source

Oh Sh*t! Kaleena Gets A Day Pass Off That Dirty Money Plantation Posted: 27 Dec 2010 03:36 AM PST The girl in Dirty Money who isn’t Dawn recently did a solo interview and photoshoot with Atlanta-based BE Entertained Magazine, and did a lot of talking about Diddy, Dawn and some other sh*t you probably don’t care about. On her start in music: I never thought about doing anything else after I was presented the opportunity to BE a professional recording artist. Thru my high school years, I quit singing gospel and I wanted to start singing secular music. My dad was like the easiest way to break secular music was to BE like Missy Elliot and back door the game and write for other artists. My journey working with producers and other musicians in the game, they were like you have a gift of writing things down and making it make sense; so why don't you write for people? I was like this is the second time I heard this, let's just do; so I locked in with a producer and I think that's a key thing when you're a writer and trying to get on in the business is to lock in with somebody and create a sound that people will look after you for. So we created a sound and it took off and I was just grinding. I remember being in Roc-A-Fella, in Universal with my duffle bag at 18 leaving high school trying to figure it out. I used to hustle up and BE in all the buildings with the A&R 's letting them hear my stuff, and ideas…in the studio with Peedy Crack and Oschino back in the day, trying to get on hooks and I was presented the opportunity to come to Atlanta and write for these girls. It was an independent label, and I was like well it's starting to pay off. I might get my first little check for back dooring the business and writing for other people. I came down here and ended up writing their whole demo package. People were like who is this girl? I ended up getting a placement on Christina Milian from that and went on to Charlotte Church it was a wide range of music I was doing. On working with Dawn: It's been a great honor and pleasure. It's definitely always good when other black females can support each other; coming from our different backgrounds and not really knowing much about each other. It was time to grow and time to get together and learn and know each other. Just getting together and vibing from jump, that was mind blowing. I'm like this Bitch just came up in here with these crazy shoes that I love. It was amazing, her voice and her perspective on life is what makes me feel honored to BE next to her because she wants to do a lot of the same things that I want to do I life. We are so much alike sometimes that we do argue. It's scary, we happen to have a lot of things alike, from our parents, to where we grew up, how we grew up and the things that we do. How we talk to people, how we are always respectful and keep GOD first, those are a lot of the things we have alike, so sometimes we argue. (Did you catch that contradiction??) On d*ck-ridin’ Diddy: Sean is so kind hearted, very sweet. Sean is a perfectionist. Sean does not sleep. With that being said, I had to step my game up. The hustle I thought I had, the know how I thought I had, it's like naw boo, it's good that you're doing that but you always gotta seek to BE the best, when somebody is sleep, you have to BE up so it's been brilliant, no words can describe having that front row to how the bread is actually made. A lot of people don't have that so I thank GOD for having that opportunity, it's BEen dope it's been a beautiful learning experience. I wouldn't change it for the world. We also learned that Kaleena is working on her solo debut… and a clothing line, just in case. Oh, and that people actually call out her name in public places. Source
