Gabriel Aubry “has finally woken up and is going for the money” in his custody battle Posted: 06 Mar 2012 09:02 AM PST
Well now Gabriel is asking for a lot of money in his custody battle, according to both TMZ and Radar. He’s supposedly going for $20k a month child support, which sounds excessive to us, but let’s remember that Halle is worth $70 million. TMZ paints it as Gabriel being greedy, since TMZ gets their stories from camp Halle. Radar, typically camp Gabriel, explains that Gabe is fed up and claims that if he doesn’t get the money he’ll write a tell all about Halle. Now we heard this stuff about the tell all before, but in the earlier version Gabe was too good a person to write one and didn’t want his daughter to have to read it someday. Now he’s claiming that he’s further along in the process of dishing the dirt on Halle, and that he has some six figure offers from major publishers. Does this make him look bad because he wants money, or does this make it look like he’s pushing back from the corner he’s been placed in?
[From TMZ and From Radar] If a woman was asking for $20,000 a month in child support, would we call it excessive? Probably. Many of you wrote in our last post that you would buy Gabriel’s book if he wrote one. I think he’s just using it as leverage to get Halle to both drop her suit trying to strip him of access to their child and pay child support. The more support Gabriel can get from Halle, the more it legitimizes his role in their daughter’s life, or at least that may be how he’s trying to spin it. I doubt he’s going to write a book. If Halle would have played nice from the beginning it would have been much less expensive for her, that’s for sure. The core issue is Nahla and the fact that she deserves to have parents who respect each other’s role in her life. I don’t see Gabriel as doing anything that would make him deserve being shut out like this. Gabriel and Nahla are shown at the zoo on 2-19-12. Halle is shown outside Nahla’s school on 2-2-12. Katy Perry attempts to rock a gothy, hardcore look: does she pull it off? Posted: 06 Mar 2012 08:55 AM PST I can’t help but think that Katy Perry’s various outings during Paris Fashion Week are designed to help her launch the edgy, dark vibe that she’s promised will soon take over her next record. Let’s start with yesterday’s look at the Yves Saint Laurent show, which Hollywood Life describes as “sophisticated,” but I’m not so sure. Does she look authentically fierce and punky in this dark green and leather ensemble, or is it just Katy playing her usual dress up games? There’s so much dark eyeliner at work here, and the look is so severe and exaggerated that Katy seems to be working against herself. That Croydon facelift hairstyle looks so painful that I just want to give her a hug and tell her to relax. Maybe we should just be grateful that her butt isn’t hanging out in this outfit. Later on yesterday, Katy hit the Chanel show looking like she was stll going for the goth princess look. She’s so hardcore. I’m including a few of Katy’s other fashion week looks at the bottom of this post, but let’s take a brief interlude and see what Russell Brand’s been up to over the weekend. According to the NY Post, Russell was in NYC and hitting on all sorts of chicks, including one girl that he approached outside a restaurant to tell her that she was “perfect.” But it wasn’t all fun and (shagging) games, for Russell was in town for business purposes, and he slyly began to hit back at Katy during his standup routine. Of special note is Russell’s reference to “glitter“:
[From NY Post] Okay, he didn’t mention Katy by name, but we all know who he’s talking about with the glitter poop reference. It’s hard to deny how funny Russell’s wording is in this instance, but it’s gotta be hard for Katy to hear something like that. Katy also stepped out a few times over the weekend to attend various fashion shows, and her outfits were ridiculous. One of them was a Viktor & Rolf runway look for (of course) the Viktor & Rolf presentation. I’m so tired of this “blue” look already, but again, I’m just thankful that her butt cheeks aren’t saying hello. Photos courtesy of Fame/Flynet and WENN |
Olivia Wilde is too sexualized to play Linda Lovelace, says Olivia Wilde Posted: 06 Mar 2012 08:52 AM PST I've never really gotten why Olivia Wilde is as much of a "thing" as she seems to be. Like, I get why dudes like her – she's pretty and she has a nice figure. She's a half-decent actress – not award-worthy, but not actively bad either. But over the past few years, she gets promoted like she's the greatest thing to ever hit Hollywood, like we've just been dying for a hot-girl-actress like Olivia. When really, she's just kind of bland. Anyway, Ol' Cockburn (her birth name) covers the April issue of GQ UK. She seems to be promoting Butter, I suppose. That's the film that she did with Jennifer Garner and Ashley Greene (cough, haha, cough). I wasn't even going to cover this, but then I was reading Olivia's quotes, and she kind of pissed me off.
[From Us Weekly] I don't give a crap about the "I've been labeled because I'm a girl who talks about sex" thing. Because that's just Olivia acting like Megan Fox, hoping that more people will write about her if she says the word "sex" a lot. That’s just a standard-issue famewhore move that a lot of young actresses employ. What bugs me is the “I decided that it should go to someone who is not already sexualized by the public — Linda Lovelace was an innocent. Amanda [Seyfried] will do an amazing job" part. First of all, I cannot stress this enough: DO NOT TALK ABOUT THE ROLES YOU PASSED ON. It's disrespectful to the actresses who are now doing those roles. It's bad form. Second of all, I have my doubts that Olivia was ever up for serious contention for any Linda Lovelace bio-pic – the initial rumors of her casting came from Olivia herself. That's a lead role, and Ol' Cockburn hasn't proven that she can carry a film – she hasn't even proven that she can participate in a hit film as part of an ensemble. So while it's nice of her to say something nice about Seyfried (who has proven that she can carry a film), it's also disingenuous (not to mention insulting) for Olivia to act like she was in serious contention for a lead role, and Amanda only got the role after Olivia stepped aside for such noble reasons. Third point: "…It should go to someone who is not already sexualized by the public…" Bitch, please. Like that sexualization has been FORCED upon her. Like she didn't actively participate in it. And, just by the way, Amanda Seyfried participates in the sexualization of her image as well. Both women have done barely-clothed photo shoots in men's magazines, and both women give relatively explicit interviews. So maybe Olivia shouldn't try so hard to convince us that it was all her choice that she's not playing a lead role in a studio-backed film. Here are some more shots from GQ UK of the public forcing Ol’ Cockburn to be so incredibly sexy. |
Patricia Heaton apologizes for her misogynistic rant about Georgetown student Posted: 06 Mar 2012 08:11 AM PST I don't want to make this story too politically-charged, so I'm going to really try to not insert my opinions into every part of this story. First, some background. Washington has been in the midst of a massive debate about whether birth control should be covered by health insurance. Religious institutions offering employee insurance wanted an "exemption" from covering birth control, because God hates The Pill or whatever. Various religious experts were allowed to testify before Congress – which led to an utterly tone-deaf photo-op of a group of middle-aged men all gathered around to discuss women's health. A reproductive rights advocate and Georgetown student named Sandra Fluke asked to testify before Congress, but she was initially denied by Rep. Daniel Issa, who later had to back down and let her testify on why contraception should be universally covered. Conservatives LOST THEIR MINDS when Fluke testified. Rush Limbaugh called her a "slut" and a "prostitute" because, in Rush's mind, his Oxycontin would be taxed into oblivion just to pay for Sandra Fluke's massive birth control supply (incidentally – Rush and the conservatives have literally no idea how The Pill works). Rush "apologized" (not really) and Fluke didn't accept his fake apology. But now there's someone else in the mix: Hollywood Republican and long-time anti-choice advocate Patricia Heaton. Heaton went cray-cray on her Twitter feed, insulting Sandra Fluke and any woman who dared to want contraception covered by her health insurance: [Screepcap of Heaton's Twitter feed] Heaton later deleted her Twitter account – some people claim that Disney (who owns ABC, which airs Heaton's show, The Middle) basically told Heaton to STFU because they didn't want advertisers pulling their support of The Middle, like Limbaugh is now facing an advertiser exodus. Heaton issued a low-key apology last week on her Twitter, writing:
[Via THR] And now Heaton has re-started her Twitter feed, and she issued another apology: “I apologized to Ms Fluke last week. I may not agree with her views but I didn’t treat her with respect and I’m sorry. I was wrong. Mea Culpa." Does Heaton's lukewarm apology make it right? Or should advertisers pull out of The Middle in droves too? |
John Cusack promotes ‘The Raven’ in Russia: could Lloyd Dobler still get it? Posted: 06 Mar 2012 08:10 AM PST God, what is about John Cusack? Seeing photos of him still makes me sigh like a schoolgirl with an impossible crush. Is it the Lloyd Dobler thing? I think that's part of it – John Cusack played the sweet, vulnerable boyfriend so beautifully in Say Anything, and there's an entire generation of women who will always get moist for Cusack on that role alone. But it's more than that for me. He's just… a different kind of actor. If Cusack was coming up in today's Hollywood as a young actor, I doubt he would even be able to find his footing. They just don't make parts for sensitive, intelligent, dry, interesting men these days. And don't start yelling about Sparkles, either. John Cusack had that sparkly quality, but he was able to maintain a "man's man" appeal too – dudes LIKE John Cusack and women love him. Anyway, these are new photos of Cusack in Moscow, where he's doing some early promotion for The Raven. He plays Edgar Allen Poe in a fictional story about Poe acting like a crime-fighter, trying to take down a deranged serial killer. For real. I don't even know what's up with Cusack's career these days. I guess Hot Tub Time Machine bought him some Hollywood love (that was a huge hit, right?), but seriously – Poe? Here's the trailer: It doesn't come out here in America until the end of April. God knows, this could be a huge hit. ??? Just look at Lloyd Dobler. |
Tina Fey dropped out of Lindsay Lohan’s ‘SNL’ gig: is she still supporting Lohan? Posted: 06 Mar 2012 07:45 AM PST Tina Fey has been one of Lindsay Lohan's biggest champions ever since they did Mean Girls together. Tina wrote/adapted Mean Girls and she took a supporting part in the film, which Lindsay starred in. Years passed, and with every cracktastrophe Lohan finds herself in, she's always identified as "the 'Mean Girls' actress." And as the years passed, Tina Fey has continued to prove herself time and time again as one of the great comedic writers and actresses of her generation, and a true role model for young women. Over the past few years, Tina has taken to "mentoring" younger female comedians, to mixed results. Fey is one of Olivia Munn's biggest supporters, promoting Olivia's talents in interviews and even speaking on Olivia's behalf to producers and directors. The problem? Olivia Munn isn't all that and it feels like Fey is wasting her efforts on someone who is not only unworthy, but who is actually a standard-issue dumb famewhore with minimal talent. Speaking of, let's get back to the Cracken. When I first heard that Lindsay had gotten the SNL gig, my first thought was, "Tina Fey pulled some strings for Lindsay." Tina just refuses to admit that the talented young actress she worked with years ago is now a violent, arrogant, entitled crackhead mess (who has used up all of her "second chances"). The NYDN has a report on just how much Tina Fey was doing behind the scenes to help Lohan:
[From NY Daily News] I think the fact that Tina's rep even came out with an excuse for why Fey wasn't there proves that Tina is still in Lindsay's corner. I feel the same way about this as I do about Robert Downey Jr's continued support of Mel Gibson. I admire Tina's (and RDJ's) incredible loyalty to a friend, but please don't ask me to accept that Lohan (or Gibson) has "changed" or that they're "sorry" for their past actions. It feels like Lindsay is exploiting Tina's friendship and loyalty, and at the end of the day, Tina could and should find worthier talents to foster, mentor and promote. Here are some new photos of Lindsay looking busted and shopping at Barney's. Shouldn't she be getting back to LA to finish up her morgue duty? Look at the way she carried herself – she's like the crackie Gloria Swanson. She's ready for her closeup, Lorne Michaels. |
Megan Fox at the ‘Friends with Kids’ premiere: did she get cheek implants? Posted: 06 Mar 2012 06:52 AM PST Last night, Friends with Kids (a.k.a., “Half the Bridemaids Cast, Half the Charm“) premiered in New York City. This movie, which was written, produced, and directed by Jennifer Westfeldt (Jon Hamm’s girlfriend), was supposed to be part of Megan Fox’s comeback in a series of supporting roles. She didn’t fare too badly in the trailer of the movie, and the film itself looks promising in an utterly predictable but still somewhat enjoyable, matinee-viewing, romcom sort of way. Of course, Megan plays the “hot chick” in the movie, which is the type of role that she’ll likely never escape. As much as I can root for Megan during her recent PR transformation, I just have to admit that she’s a dreadful actress (watch Passion Play, and you’ll see what I mean). To stay in the business, Megan must stay accessibly pretty because her talents are limited to playing the gorgeous, fluffy characters, but her tweaking might hurt these prospects. Here are some closeups. I can’t definitively put my finger on what she’s had done other than lots of botox (which she’s denied before) and possible cheek implants. As to the latter, Megan has looked tweaked and catfaced as recently as the past year. I was hoping that she’d go for a more natural look as part of her recent PR transformation, but in these photos, I keep thinking, “Madonna chicken cutlets.” Maybe she’s just suffering from an unfortunate level of blush application. The “cheek implant” conundrum truly puzzles me because at certain angles, her cheekbones don’t seem as pronounced. You be the judge. Photos courtesy of Fame/Flynet |
LeAnn Rimes paps herself again, sources say she “initiated contact” with Brandi Posted: 06 Mar 2012 04:32 AM PST What's going on with LeAnn Rimes this week? Did she make an effort to keep it low-key during the Oscars and post-Oscars news cycles, and now all of her famewhore itches have come pouring out in a matter of days? These are some new photos of LeAnn and Eddie Cibrian eating in a café, somewhere in LA. LeAnn keeps glancing at the paparazzo. Because she knows she's being photographed. Because she called him, probably. Just like she called the paparazzi to make sure they could tons of photos at the kids' soccer game over the weekend. Speaking of, Us Weekly had a "behind the scenes" account of how LeAnn "chanced" upon Brandi at the game:
[From Us Weekly] That's pretty much what I figured – Brandi was sitting on the blanket, minding her own business, and LeAnn decided to hijack the moment and saunter over to Brandi. LeAnn certainly knows how to make Brandi even more sympathetic, doesn't she? Like, I don't think that Brandi and LeAnn had to ignore each other or anything – it's not middle school. But you also don't have to plop your bony ass down on your husband's ex-wife's blanket and pretend you're BFFs for the sake of a photo-op. I would also love to know the exchange between Brandi and LeAnn in those ten minutes. |
Pippa Middleton finally speaks on camera, and she’s kind of funny & bitchy Posted: 06 Mar 2012 04:15 AM PST Have you missed Pippa Middleton? I have. She hasn't been getting pap'd on a regular basis lately. Maybe she found a new way to go to work, or maybe her lawyers succeeded in threatening the British tabloids into leaving her alone. Whatever happened, these are some of the first photos we've had of Pippa since January! Pippa signed on to a cross-country ski race in Sweden called Vasaloppet (sound it out, it's fun to say), all to raise money/awareness for a children's charity called Magic Breakfast. Pippa placed 412th out of 1,734 women. And that's not all – she spoke to a news outlet! At long last, we get to hear Pippa's voice. It's actually kind of nice: She seems kind of bitchy and over it, which I enjoy. It just shows you that she's not a royal – she doesn't have to pretend to be nice to everyone. Plus, I feel like that's her real accent, unlike her sister, who has so obviously had voice lessons to the point where her voice and accent seem very, very unnatural. Also note: Pippa did this epic ski thing all while keeping her beloved Middleton eyeliner in place! Huzzah. In other Pippa news, you know how I keep ringing the "Pippa is going to be a duchess too, y'all" bell? Well, it's on. All of Pippa's scheming, plotting, angling, and sexual espionage (I'm assuming) has paid off – George Percy, the future Duke of Northumberland, is now her boyfriend. There's a photo of George and Pippa embracing. And People Mag is calling it:
[From People] Oh, it's on. Pippa landed him. Apparently, she's been working on him for about nine months – she was working on him while she was still tangled up with Alex Loudon too. When Alex finally dumped her, I think she had already made significant inroads with George, and her plan ("The Duchess Pippa Scheme") went full-speed ahead. God bless her. This girl has ten-times the balls-out ambition of her sister. My guess is that even if George ever wanted to extricate himself from Pippa, he would find it very, very difficult. He might as well just propose and get it over with. |
Former employee says Paula Deen used the N word, claims Deen’s brother harassed her Posted: 06 Mar 2012 04:14 AM PST
[From Radar Online and PDF of lawsuit] The lawsuit is available as a PDF through Radar Online. There’s also more information on their website about the lawsuit. It’s pretty damning, and makes Paula’s brother out to be a drunken ass who regularly distributed porn in the office, and was emotionally and physically abusive to women and minorities. What’s more is that women were allegedly paid less than men in lower positions than they were in the restaurant. The lawsuit might of course be exaggerated or embellished for effect, but it paints a very bleak picture of the working conditions there. We may soon see if these complaints are limited to just one disgruntled employee or if it’s true that it was really this bad. The lawyer for Lisa Jackson told Radar that they have an “enormous amount of evidence of misconduct.” He admitted that he doesn’t have “an army of witnesses,” but added that “they’re there and in due time… We do have employees who have left the Paula Deen family of business and will be testifying. But many out of fear will not come forward until we subpoena them to come forward.” As for how much Paula knows about her brother’s behavior, the lawyer claims that she’s aware of it and hasn’t put her foot down. He words the racist allegations vaguely, though. “Much of the conduct comes from Bubba, but Paula has knowledge of it and she knows the workplace is full of sexual harassment and she knows the racial discrimination that’s filed in the lawsuit. And by doing nothing about it, she enables him to continue the behavior.” He also adds that Paula’s company finally hired an HR person in 2011 for their organization, which has over 500 employees. Paula has reportedly dropped two dress sizes since going on a healthier diet to control her diabetes. She came under fire last month for delaying the announcement of her diabetes for three years, during which time she continued to cook and endorse unhealthy food. Paula is shown in the purple below in October, and in black in more recent photos from February 26. She appears to have something stuck on the side of her face. The man with her is her husband, Michael Groover. Also, bonus pic of chef Robert Irvine’s abs. Credit: WENN.com |
