Angelina Jolie on The Leg: “I do what I feel like doing, but don’t consider the effect”

Posted: 27 Mar 2012 09:28 AM PDT

Angelina Jolie has a massive interview with Entertainment Weekly this week, likely to promote the DVD release of In the Land of Blood and Honey. You can read the full EW piece here – I'll just be doing some highlights, since the interview is so long (and a lot of it is about ITLOBAH). Some of you theorized that HuffPo got an advanced copy of the interview, and switched around some of Jolie's quotes for their story about her reaction to The Leg controversy. It could be – Angelina uses some of the same wording, but my reaction to her statement in the context of the EW piece was less eyeroll-y. Basically, she doesn't sound ridiculously full of herself here.

EW: Wow, so you caused quite a stir at the Oscars. That's usually a pretty stuffy affair, but you definitely widened people's eyes.
ANGELINA JOLIE: [Laughs] I don't pay any attention to that stuff. I just heard something as simple as that and thought, well, I don't know. I do what I feel like doing, but don't actually consider the effect. I just try to, you know, be as I feel like being on a night like that.

Fashion websites say that pose is becoming a trend. Other actresses and models, like Jennifer Lawrence at The Hunger Games premiere, are wearing dresses with the high slit and posing with their legs out. So on behalf of guys everywhere, allow me to say, thank you very much.
[Laughs] That's funny, very funny.

You've heard of Tebowing, right? Where people imitate Tim Tebow by getting down on one knee.
Uh-huh, I have.

There are whole websites that popped up where people were striking your pose. That must have caught you by surprise.
What's funny is when you have no actual, conscious thought of anything [like that]. You just feel like, "Eh, I like this dress. I feel comfortable in this one." It's interesting that you just really never know…

You pulled it off much better than Jim Rash [pictured, the Best Adapted Screenplay winner, who struck her provocative pose onstage after she presented him the Oscar.] Did you find what he did funny?
Of course! [Laughs] No, I had a great night. It was a really fun night.

Just before the Oscars, you came home from the European premieres of In the Land of Blood and Honey. I imagine that must have been pretty emotional. It's a heavy movie to live with for a couple of years, but you were finally showing it to the people who lived through the Bosnian War.
Yeah, it was more challenging because we knew we'd be going face to face with the region itself. We went to Berlin first, then Sarajevo, then Paris and also Croatia. This whole process has been very nerve-wracking because it's my first film, and I'm not that confident, but I wanted to do this because I love the subject matter and I wanted to learn. I had these great two years where I learned so much about a region and history and worked with these actors from another part of the world.

Let's start with how it was received in Paris and Berlin.
It was also difficult for them. They were right next door. So there's a question of when [the U.S.] got involved, but they were right next door and didn't get involved. There are a lot of feelings for everybody, deep-seated guilt in all of us. Nobody walks away feeling good about this time in history. [The film] is supposed to make us look back and question what went wrong.

You've said you're writing a script about the war in Afghanistan next. How's that coming along?
I have been writing something, because I've been there a few times — Afghanistan and Pakistan — in the last 11 years, and it's a part of the world we're all quite aware of now, but… I'm not sure. I'm going to actually see this weekend what people think of [the script]. But I like it and I've enjoyed doing the research.

What's next for you as an actor? You were in talks to do a Luc Besson film?
I do hope to work with Luc one day, but we haven't figured out what that is. The next thing I'm doing is Maleficent for Disney. I start it in June, and it's a really great script. I'm having a lot of fun. I've already got my horns fitted. My kids are very happy.

In this version, Sleeping Beauty is the nemesis instead of the good guy?
It's not anti-princess, but it's the first time they're looking at this epic woman.

Is it sympathetic to her, or is she a straight-up villain?
It's both. I hope in the end you see a woman who is capable of being many things, and just because she protects herself and is aggressive, it doesn't mean she can't have other [warmer] qualities. You have to figure out the puzzle of what she is.

So there are some redeeming qualities to Maleficent the witch?
It sounds really crazy to say that there will be something that's good for young girls in this, because it sounds like you're saying they should be a villain. [Maleficent] is actually a great person. But she's not perfect. She's far from perfect.

Since it's a Disney film, will this version of Maleficent be close to the one we know from their 1959 animated film?
We're still figuring out the look. We're experimenting with different things. But the horns are the horns — you can't deny them. You have to have horns.

[From EW]

OK, that interview actually got me excited about Maleficent! I like that Angelina is embracing the horns – I've always wanted Angelina to play a larger-than-life "cartoon" type of anti-heroine, like a Bond villain or something, and my guess is that she'll excel at playing Maleficent. Can you believe that she hasn't been in front of a camera (for a film) since The Tourist? Jolie needs to get to work!

As for the further discussion about The Leg – in this interview, she seems much less defensive, embracing an attitude of "whatever, I had fun, meh." Also: she knows about Tebowing?!?

Man who sold coffin photo of Whitney Houston admits wiping hotel suite clean

Posted: 27 Mar 2012 08:57 AM PDT

This story is kind of crazy, so bear with me. Remember when that photo of poor Whitney in her casket was on the cover of The National Enquirer? The people at the funeral home were mortified, because they would never jeopardize their business for a quick buck. A lot of people wondered which one of Whitney’s family and friends at her private memorial would sell her out like that. Roger Friedman reported in Forbes about two weeks ago that the culprit was likely a guy named Raffles van Exel, a known con artist who uses several alias and has posted a YouTube video bragging about getting close to celebrities. People at the funeral home reported seeing this guy take a photo of Whitney in repose, and he seems to have ingratiated himself to her family following her death.

Well now van Exel (if that’s even his name) told a Dutch paper that he cleaned Whitney’s hotel suite right after she was found dead. This may be why no traces of cocaine were found at the scene, despite the fact that cocaine was found in her system after she died and is considered a contributing factor in her death. Celebuzz has this story:

A close confidant of the late pop diva Whitney Houston has admitted he cleaned up the hotel room where she drowned, Celebuzz has learned.

In an interview with respected Dutch newspaper The Telegraph on February 15, just four days after the singer's death, Raffles van Exel confessed: "The room had to be emptied."

"Someone had to do it," van Exel told the newspaper, according to a translation of the article published online.

Van Exel stopped short of telling The Telegraph what exactly he removed from the suite and he has not returned Celebuzz's request for comment.

Last week, the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office declared Houston, 48, died from an accidental drowning in a hotel bathtub with the "effects of atherosclerotic heart disease and cocaine use."

Sources tell Celebuzz that Beverly Hills police are still investigating how Houston acquired the drugs that contributed to her death and whether they were hidden from police and first responders.

No cocaine or drug paraphernalia were found in the suite at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif., the source adds.

However, Houston's cocaine use appeared to have occurred "in the time period just immediately prior to her collapse in the bathtub at the hotel," Chief Coroner Craig Harvey said when he announced the findings of his report, last week.

"(Houston's case) is still an open investigation for us… I can't disclose any details about the investigation," BHPD Lt. Mark Rosen told People on March 23.

In various media released, Van Exel, a Dutch national, touts himself as a "highly respected entertainment consultant" who has "guided some of the world's most acclaimed executives and celebrities."

[From Celebuzz]

Ok, so maybe some creepy hanger on just cashed in after Whitney died and covered up evidence of her overdose, it doesn’t have to mean that there’s some conspiracy over her death. This is still giving me butterflies in my stomach, particularly after watching this video of van Exel (below) that Roger Friedman clued me in on. If you don’t want to watch the whole thing, just fast forward to 1:43, where van Exel uses crutches to fake an injury and gain access to the Billboard Music Awards. He calls the security guard a “fool” for giving them a ride on a golf cart and letting them bypass security because he had crutches. He then pretends to be a representative for Joe Jackson despite not knowing him at all. At the beginning of the video, he explains that celebrities are just like regular people and that they’ll get more comfortable with you the more they see you hanging around. This is seriously creeping me out. He says at 3:40 “go for the kill and never take no for an answer.”

Note that the website mentioned on the video, “Diary of a Hollywood Street King,” is NOT van Exel’s blog. It’s an urban blog that copied the video and uploaded it again. They also claim to have details of how van Exel obtained cocaine for many celebrities, extorted money from them and was an enabler for Whitney’s drug habit. So maybe he was her dealer and he cleaned up the cocaine because he’s the one who got it for her. Now I know why her family isn’t convinced that her death was an accident. Holy sh*t. This is starting to remind me of Anna Nicole Smith’s death. Whitney had enablers around her, and this one in particular seems to have had nefarious intentions.

Jon Hamm’s C Mag photo shoot will jump-start your breakfast-sex fantasies

Posted: 27 Mar 2012 08:33 AM PDT

Aren't we some lucky bitches today? Two Jon Hamm posts! Huzzah! These are photos from Hamm's cover shoot with C Magazine. The photos are gorgeous, and now I'm in the midst of a fantasy where the Hamm and I have a torrid night of passion and he makes me breakfast the morning after. "No, I don't drink coffee," I tell him, "Maybe we should just go back to bed." The Hamm looks at me, taking in my rumpled appearance in one of his button-down shirts. "No, first you need to eat something. You're too thin! Then once you've regained your strength, then we'll go back to bed." Sigh… IF ONLY. Here are some highlights from the C Mag piece:

The Hamm on typecasting: ‘When I got Mad Men, I was immediately sent a million other scripts just like it. It's kind of what Hollywood wants to do: 'Oh, you can do that well, so let's keep you doing it. The last thing I want to do when the show is over is do the exact same thing. You're that guy who wears a suit on that show. And you're also wearing a suit in this thing.’

He loves the Mad Men cast: ‘If I golf on a really nice course with really good players, I do better. Because you're focused and you're like, 'Okay, I can't embarrass myself.' That analogy carries over into work. When you're with people who are really good, you don't want to be the person who sucks. That's kind of been the philosophy steering my career, as weird as that sounds: to work with people who inspire or challenge me in some way.’

[From The Mail]

Yeah, that's not terribly interesting. You know what is interesting though? The second part of my Hamm fan-fiction, which involves Hamm feeding me bacon and then boning me in the kitchen. And what's great is that even Jon's friends have fantasies about him too. Hamm recently spoke about one friend asking him to be her baby-daddy. Hamm said, "I have actually been asked to be a father by a friend who wanted to have a kid. It was kind of weird and out-of-nowhere and I said no. Mainly because I was totally unemployed, and I would feel so responsible, even though they said, 'Don't worry, no strings attached.'" Yeah… no strings attached. Because she wanted to have sex with The Hamm.

Timothy Olyphant is tempted to Google himself to prove coolness to his kids

Posted: 27 Mar 2012 08:29 AM PDT

It’s always a very special day for me when we get new photos of Timothy Olyphant. Of course, these particular pictures don’t have the greatest lighting, for they were taken close to dusk amongst the shadows of midtown Manhattan yesterday while Timothy was outside the Ed Sullivan theater for an appearance on “The Late Show with David Letterman.” Still, we have Olyphant, and there are very few things I enjoy more on this planet than just watching this man walk:

There’s an interview too, of course! So we get to watch and hear Olyphant speak in his typical animated fashion, which is very different than the “strong words, soft voice” method he uses to portray the Raylan Givens character on FX’s “Justified.” Oly usually talks a lot during interviews about his family and has a very deadpan sense of humor that doesn’t always translate as intended, such as that time he joked about dumping his wife if he’d won the Emmy. In his defense, that really was her idea, and their marriage has endured for over two decades, so I find it difficult to believe that he should be judged poorly for such an inside joke. About a year ago, Olyphant also had a very cute Ellen interview where he talked about his pets, especially two Shiloh Shepherds that he calls “Ah-ah!” and “NO.” Last night with Letterman, Olyphant dished on how his 12-year-old daughter (he’s got two other children, aged 8 and 10, with wife Alexis) doesn’t think he’s a very cool guy at all. Olyphant (and his fans) would beg to differ:

On his 10-year-old son: “The boy’s in the middle. It’s tough, you know. I keep telling him, I say, ‘Buddy, listen. In a couple of years, you’re going to love your older sister’s friends. And then a couple years after that, then you’re gonna love your younger sister’s friends. It means nothing to him right now.”

On his 12-year-old daughter: “Here’s the problem. When she was younger, we used to argue, and I was cool with that. Now when she gets mad at me, she just stares at me. And she doesn’t say it, she’s a good kid, but I know she’s thinking, ‘You’re an a–hole.’ And she just stares at me like that! And I don’t say it, but what I’m thinking is ‘I’m gonna Google myself just to show her that I’m cool. Look, I don’t know when I became ‘that guy.’ I’m the cool guy. I feel like I’m wanting to tell the 12-year-old, ‘No, no no. I’m not that guy.’ “

I just love this guy. He’s very grounded and has been puttering around Hollywood since the mid 1990s, so it’s nice to see him gain some much deserved mainstream success. Of course, that also destroys my fantasies of keeping him all to myself, but whatever. I can deal if it means seeing more Olyphant. Here are some closeups. He looks so good going gracefully grey at the temples, right?

Christie Brinkley breaks down crying about her divorce, calls her ex a narcissist

Posted: 27 Mar 2012 07:03 AM PDT

Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

Christie Brinkley and her fourth husband, architect Peter Cook, divorced after 12 years in 2008. The divorce was public and we learned some pretty damning details about Cook, including the fact that he’d had an affair with an 18 year-old intern he hired (and later paid a reported $300,000 to keep quiet) and that he had a very expensive online porn habit, costing thousands a month. Christie and Peter have two children, daughter Sailor Lee, 13, and son Jack, 16. (Jack is from Christie’s third marriage, to Richard Taubman, and was adopted by Peter. Christie also has daughter Alexa Ray Joel, 26, from her first marriage, to Billy Joel.)

Some think Christie should have kept all of her husband’s ridiculous indiscretions quiet in order to spare their then-tween children the details. I initially had that opinion, but Christie is claiming that she had nothing to do with the fact that her divorce was public and that Peter spread that story in order to malign her.

After I saw Peter interviewed on 20/20 in late 2008, I had much more sympathy for Christie. Peter basically blamed Christie for the fact that he cheated on her, and used the old “my wife wasn’t paying attention to me” line. He said crap like “I was seeking a connection I could not find in my own marriage” as if all of that was on Christie, not him. Later we found out that he had secretly made sex tapes of himself with his 18 year-old mistress, with the mistress publicly stating that it was without her knowledge or consent.

Well now Christie Brinkley, 58, is returning to Broadway in “Chicago,” and she’s still feuding with her ex over child support and visitation issues. Peter pays $1,200 a month child support, but he’s not up to date on his payments. After Christie filed paperwork with the courts claiming she was owed child support and that Peter was sending her nasty e-mails, Peter went on Nightline earlier this month and spewed a bunch of crap about how Christie was “publicly castrating him.” (His interview starts at 1:55 into this video.) Peter claimed that he didn’t owe support for a period of time in which Christie was away working, because he was watching the kids full time. Well Christie did her first interview on her divorce on The Today Show this morning. She also claimed that Peter has been trying to destroy her image, she called him a narcissist and she broke down crying.

“Since the day that he realized that I was not coming back, there has been a real character assassination going on. I asked for and got a confidentiality agreement with the original divorce. I alone have maintained the confidentiality agreement.

“I had offers for a sympathetic show from Oprah… everyone asked me to come on, I did not want to do it.”

“I have turned the other cheek,” she said, adding that her former spouse of 12 years has repeatedly taken to the airwaves to air their dirty laundry. “There’s not one quote from me, anywhere. This is the first time I’ve ever been on a show (to talk about the split).

“I’m really here because next week I’m going to start promoting Chicago. This became such a big deal. I’ve endured about two weeks of lies and stories, when actually four months prior… I quietly filed to protect my family from that. Part of my suit, I was actually clear to the judge ‘please determine this on paper.’

She revealed that Cook pays $600 per month for each of their children, though he has been quoted as saying he pays “double” what’s required by courts. “It’s a very minimal amount of money,” she said. “And it wasn’t (about) the money. I have hesitated to do anything with the court because he actually likes the publicity and he likes going to court.”

While Cook has called Brinkley a “narcissistic egomaniac,” Brinkley seems to feel much the same way about him: “I have never taken part in name calling. The only thing I’ve ever said … at the end of that (second) trial I said as a public service, ‘Google “divorcing a narcissist.”‘ … I’m not alone. I’ve gotten hundreds of letters from women that are going through this. It’s not easy.”

Lauer was concerned about the impact all of this back-and-forth between the parents was having on their teenaged children; Brinkley returned that there should be “legislation that protects families from a spouse who has been diagnosed by the court-appointed forensic psychiatrist as a bona fide malignant or extreme narcissist…. This is something the courts need to come to grips with.”

But as time wound down, and there was little chat of “Chicago,” Brinkley lost her own grip. While telling Lauer she has not been in touch with Cook for two years, though “he continues to contact me,” she said she asked a judge to “please make this stop, protect my right to peace. I just want peace for my family.”

Tears welling in her eyes, Brinkley said, “I just want peace. And every time I have any joy or any kind of success in anything, he has to try to destroy it.”

[From Today.com]

The stuff about the confidentiality agreement didn’t sound entirely right to me. As I mentioned, I thought that Christie fought to have the divorce made public, however she told Matt Lauer that “in New York State divorce court is always open. I had my trial like every other woman going through a divorce.” She might not be able to write a book about it, but all the crap that her ex did is already out there. I did find the rest of her argument somewhat persuasive. Her ex went on TV complaining about her after she filed what she says was standard court paperwork for child support. She’s claiming that she didn’t mean for this to be public at all. So now she’s trying to clear the air and defend herself.

As the article above explains, Matt tried to call out Christie for feuding with her ex and creating a “poisonous atmosphere” which could “severly impact” the children. She then retorted that her ex husband is a narcissist and has a personality disorder. She didn’t take any responsibility for her relationship with him, but I’m not in her position and maybe it’s as bad as she’s saying. It didn’t make sense to me in that she still seems to be blaming him, though. She then broke down crying, saying that she just hopes for peace in her life. At least Lauer made the point that there are two sides to every story. I tend to agree with him.

These are the most recent photos of Christie that we have, and they all look like this. Peter Cook is shown at an event in the Hamptons on 5-29-10. Credit: WENN.com

Deadmau5 bashes Madonna for her drug references: “F–k off you f–king idiot”

Posted: 27 Mar 2012 05:54 AM PDT

Yesterday, we discussed the new photos of 15-year-old Lourdes, puffing away on a cigarette. I was surprised by how many of you didn't think a 15-year-old smoking was any big deal. I guess I was a late bloomer when it came to cigarettes, though – I tried cigs years AFTER I tried pot and LSD. Hmm… what does that say about me? Anyway, Madonna was asked about her daughter's cigarette-smoking in an interview yesterday, and Madge didn't seem all that concerned. All she said was, "I have to keep my eye on her.” I kind of like that Madge didn't get into it publicly – that if she has an admonishment for Lola, Madonna will do it privately. Madge did say that Lola is very talented though: “She plays the piano beautifully. She’s an incredible singer. But she’s going through that ‘I-don’t-want-anyone-to-notice-me phase.’”

Meanwhile, in a turn of events, music producer and DJ Deadmau5 hates Madonna for Madge's "MDNA" album title and Madge's recent reference to "Molly".

Madonna missed her "MDNA" album release parties at the Delano in Miami Friday and at Lavo in New York Saturday to head to electronic festival Ultra — but producer and DJ Deadmau5 would have preferred that she skipped the onstage drug slang.

The Material Girl made what he took to be a drug-related reference while introducing Swedish DJ Avicii at the festival in Miami Saturday night, asking: "How many people in this crowd have seen Molly? [the slang term for MDMA, the active chemical in ecstasy, which also rather sounds like her album title]."

While "Molly" is also the title of a new track by DJ Cedric Gervais, the resident DJ at Miami club Liv, Deadmau5 took offense to the reference, bashing her on his Facebook page: "Very classy there madonna . . . 'has anyone seen Molly???' such a great message for the young music lovers at ultra. Quite the f–kin’ philanthropist. but hey, at least yer hip and trendy! F–kin’ cant smack my head hard enough right now…I can appreciate [Madonna's] metoric career, and all good deeds done, but WHAT THE F— WAS THAT?…That’s your big message to Ultra attendees? Hipsterspeak for looking for drugs? F— off you f—ing IDIOT. "

[From Page Six]

Do I have to have an opinion on this? Because I don't really. Madge was trying to seem hip and cool and "look at me, I can make drug references!" But I don't really think Deadmau5's criticism of Madge was on target – instead of bashing her for her fake philanthropy (which is another discussion altogether), he could have just said something about how out-of-touch she is these days.

Speaking of Madonna being out of touch, she joined Twitter for a day to promote her album, and Justin Bieber ended up tweeting her. So Madge responded, "Come and join me on stage when I’m on tour when we are in the same city and congrats on your new single.” Madonna wishes.

Khloe Kardashian claims PETA’s flour-bomber was “bullying” Kim Kardashian

Posted: 27 Mar 2012 04:31 AM PDT

Yes, we are still talking about The Flour-Bombing of The Kat-Face: An American Tragedy in Three Acts. First act: the flour-bombing on the red carpet of Kim's perfume launch, after which she laughed it off and declined to press charges. Second act: Kim milks the situation for more attention, telling everyone that she has decided to press charges against her flour-y assailant because Kim wants every flour-bomber to know that they can not and will not get away with it. Third act: the political ramifications, as they are. It was reported that Kim's assailant was some kind of animal-rights person, and that she shouted "fur hag" at Kim as she dumped flour-bombed Kim. Immediately following the incident, PETA denied that the woman was acting under their orders. Now it looks like the assailant was actually closely associated with PETA. So now PETA activist Khloe Kardashian is raging:

The person who pelted Kim Kardashian with a flour bomb on the red carpet has been identified as one of PETA’s most influential members. It comes after the animal rights charity denied having any involvement in last week’s incident. The news has prompted Kim’s younger sister Khloe to cut all ties with the animal rights organization.

The assailant, Christina Cho, has been involved in anti-fur stunts in support of PETA before. Christina Cho once grabbed a microphone from designer Donna Karan at a Women’s Conference in order to rant about the use of fur in fashion, and won an award from the organisation in 2010. It was believed that the person who pelted 31-year-old Kim at her perfume launch had shouted ‘fur hag’ in the process, but PETA told TMZ shortly afterwards that they were not in any way involved.

A representative said: ‘It was not [us]. We were given the video by an anti-fur activist on the scene.' However they added: ‘PETA has tried everything from polite letters to public protests, but Kim Kardashian has not been moved by the news that animals are beaten, electrocuted, and even skinned alive for real fur garments. Whoever threw that flour may reach her when our polite appeals did not.’

PETA recently posted a billboard in Los Angeles that featured a photo of the curvy star wearing a fur-trimmed jacket. A picture of two foxes was included, along with the caption: ‘Kim: These babies miss their mother. Is she on your back?’

The revelation has led Khloe to fume about their ‘bullying’ and say vehemently that she will ‘no longer support PETA’.

She said in a statement: ‘Not only has PETA lied to the public, but they have proved that they support this kind of behaviour. I've been a vocal supporter of PETA for a long time but I have also been very vocal about anti-bullying, so this was a huge disappointment for me. As you all know, I don't condone violence and bullying and what happened last Thursday was just that. I am absolutely disgusted by their behavior. Everyone is entitled to their own beliefs and opinions — I personally don't wear fur but that doesn't mean I am going to force my views on anyone else, ESPECIALLY by violating them.’

The 27-year-old added that she was ‘proud’ of her sister for the way she handled the incident, which happened at the London hotel in Los Angeles on Thursday.

Khloe said: ‘I am a very proud sister right now, because Kim handled last week's incident like a champ. She got cleaned up and was back out there in a matter of minutes. Go Kimmie! We all need to practice what we preach. I will still continue to NOT wear fur, but I will no longer support PETA. Bullying and harassment is NEVER a solution, and I won't be a part of any organization that thinks otherwise.’

Khloe has posed nude for the organisation’s ‘I’d rather go naked’ anti-fur campaign.

A PETA representative told MailOnline: ‘We have no confirmation on who it was.’

[From The Mail]

Ugh. So much sound and fury over this dumb incident. I mean… sure. Animal rights. You shouldn't wear fur, etc. It was dumb to flour-bomb Kim Kardashian over her "fur hag" antics, though. And it's even dumber for Kim and now Khloe to milk this incident into some kind of epic catastrophe. It's just a cacophony of stupid at this point. Do you mind if I stop caring?

UPDATE: Oh, and Khloe once met Christina Cho’s sister Michelle, who works for PETA.

Jon Hamm isn’t interested in parenthood: “I’d be a terrible father”

Posted: 27 Mar 2012 04:23 AM PDT

I'm still pretty churned up over Mad Men's season 5 premiere on Sunday. Like, I could talk about it for hours, analyzing every single little nuance and glance and what it all means and what I think could happen next and what should happen next. But part of the joy of being a Mad Men-aholic is that Matthew Weiner and the writers take these characters to unexpected places, and the journey is the fun part. The journey and the superior acting – my mother recently said to me, "When I watch Mad Men, I forget that I'm watching actors. To me, those characters are real people that exist in the world somewhere." As you can imagine, my mom is all about Jon Hamm/Don Draper. So it's genetic, I guess. Like mother, like daughter.

So… while I will admit that Don Draper is a deeply flawed man, I've always been of the opinion that The Hamm is pretty amazing in every conceivable way. Perhaps the only thing that I could possibly find fault with is his reluctance to marry his long-time girlfriend, Jennifer Westfeldt, otherwise known as "That Lucky Bitch." The Hamm seems particularly gun-shy about marriage, and now, as it turns out, he's personally opposed to fatherhood too:

Jon Hamm has plenty of friends with kids — and he’s not interested in having any of his own, thank you very much.

“I’d be a terrible father!” the Mad Men hunk, 41, tells Us Weekly. (As Don Draper on AMC’s smash, the Golden Globe-winning actor plays a devoted if tortured father of three.)

Explains Hamm, now on the big screen in Friends with Kids, costarring and directed by Jennifer Westfeldt, his love of 14 years: “I see my friends who have children and I’m like, ‘Dude, how are you even upright, much less here at work at 6 a.m.?’”

One of those friends with kids is January Jones, who plays his frosty ex-wife Betty on the show, who has a six-month-old son, Xander.

“Xander’s cute as a button!” Hamm raves.

Hamm’s girlfriend Westfeldt, 42, recently mused to the New York Times about why they never started a family.

“I’ve thought about this a lot lately. I never thought I’d be this age and not have kids,” Westfeldt confessed. “But my life has also gone in a million ways I never anticipated. I kept feeling like I’d wake up with absolute clarity, and I haven’t. And we have a pretty great life together. The chance that we’ll regret it doesn’t seem like a compelling enough reason to do it. I may wake up tomorrow with that lighting bolt, and I’ll have to scramble to make it happen.”

When Jennifer Westfeldt talked about her push-pull desire/ambivalence towards kids, I was somewhat surprised that she spoke about it with such honesty. Is it strange that I think that Jennifer probably did see herself becoming a mother at some point, but she simply ended up with a man who wasn't interested in fatherhood, so she just made her choice? Am I wrongly positioning her as a follower to Hamm's lead, or is that the impression you get as well? I think Jennifer made a choice: stay with Hamm and don't have kids or go find someone else. Did she choose wisely? Fourteen years later, she's still boning The Hamm. Would that be worth it if she really did want to be a mom? That's an honest question, by the way, not something nasty and judgy. I'm really asking, is it worth it? In my opinion, it was worth it. From the way Jon and Jennifer talk about their life together, they seem incredibly solid and supportive of each other, and that's more than a lot of people get.

Jennifer Lawrence in Victoria Beckham in Madrid: youthful and appropriate?

Posted: 27 Mar 2012 04:20 AM PDT

Jennifer Lawrence covers the April issue of Interview Germany in a Dolce and Gabbana bodysuit. Naturally, she looks gorgeous, and her figure is smashing even though I’m not crazy about the smooshed boob effect at hand. Her girls look like they’re in pain, but at least JLaw isn’t sporting some ridiculous underboob. Obviously, I’d never make it in Hollywood because I can’t bear to even show more than a bare minimum of cleavage let alone smooshed-up boobs. It’s like any given rack gets stared enough already as is, right? I’m probably coming off like such a prude, but I can’t stand it when people talk to my chest and see no point in encouraging the practice.

Anyway, there has been no rest for the wicked or, at least, one who solidly delivers as a morally ambiguous heroine in The Hunger Games. Now Jennifer has been dispatched for the Madrid premiere of the movie, and she’s wearing a Victoria Beckham dress with Brian Atwood booties.

At least this dress is an improvement from the gawd awful red Marchesa gown that J-Law wore in Berlin, but to be honest, I’m of the opinion that both Marchesa and Victoria Beckham are amongst the most overrated designers currently favored by various Hollywood starlets. I just don’t get the appeal of either, and it bugs me that everything Victoria designs mostly just looks good on her. Still, this is a more youthful look for J-Law than she’s favored on recent red carpets, which is a welcome change. She still needs a new stylist for sure as well as a makeup artist who will stop piling on such heavy eyeliner all over that beautiful face. Also, those boots are fug.

William & Kate’s vacation budget is supplemented by Kate’s parents

Posted: 27 Mar 2012 04:14 AM PDT

Alright, correction time! The Mail was wrong! I was wrong too. Over the weekend, there were multiple reports that Prince William had whisked Duchess Kate away to Switzerland for a romantic getaway after he returned home from his six-week training mission in the Falklands. As it turns out, not so much. Yes, Kate and William are on vacation (again!!), but it's different. They went to a ski resort in France, not Switzerland. And they went with Kate's parents, on the Middletons' dime, just like the vacation to Mustique just two months ago. Does that make it better?

Those Middletons sure love to hit the slopes! Weeks after Pippa Middleton completed a 56-mile ski race in Sweden, the 28-year-old’s parents, Carole and Michael, brought daughter Kate (with husband Prince William) and son James on a fun-filled family trip at The Three Valley’s ski resort in France, a source confirms to Us Weekly.

“This was a treat from Kate’s parents, as William and Kate’s budget is quite small for trips,” the source explains. “It’s not the first time they have taken them away. They have all been to Meribel together before.”

(Meribel is a valley of 100 miles of interconnected pistes.)

An eyewitness saw the family eating lunch at one of the slope-side restaurants Monday, telling Us: “They looked very happy together.”

Though Kate, 30, was only recently reunited with William, 29, following his six-week tour of duty in The Falklands, any chance of alone time will have to wait: the source confirms that the fivesome has decided to share the same chalet.

I think my favorite line ever is "This was a treat from Kate’s parents, as William and Kate’s budget is quite small for trips." O RLY? Granted, I'd be willing to bet that Kate and William do cut corners when they're traveling and vacationing. They get discounts, they fly commercial, they might use coupon packages and stuff. But… they're still going on vacation all the time! And William and Kate's annual vacation budget is probably ten times what I make in a year, and I'm not even factoring in the cost of security and personal staff. But I guess we're supposed to accept them as "living on a budget" because their income, as it is, is being supplemented by Kate's parents and by William's extensive inheritance? Must be nice. God, I'd love a vacation.
