Jon Hamm isn’t backing down from his Kim Kardashian “f–king idiot” comments Posted: 19 Mar 2012 08:56 AM PDT Jon Hamm and the cast of Mad Men were on this morning's Today Show, and the interview is totally worth a viewing for those Mad Men-fanatics, so I'm including the video at the end of the post. But really, I just want to talk about Jon Hamm and how he's not backing away from his comments about Kim Kardashian whatsoever. The Hamm got the ball rolling in an interview in Elle UK when he said, "Whether it's Paris Hilton or Kim Kardashian or whoever, stupidity is certainly celebrated. Being a f–king idiot is a valuable commodity in this culture because you're rewarded significantly. Incuriousness has become cool… It's celebrated. It doesn't make sense to me." Kim Kardashian deigned to respond days later, saying: "I just heard about the comment Jon Hamm made about me in an interview. I respect Jon and I am a firm believer that everyone is entitled to their own opinion and that not everyone takes the same path in life. We're all working hard and we all have to respect one another. Calling someone who runs their own businesses, is a part of a successful TV show, produces, writes, designs, and creates, "stupid," is in my opinion careless." Jon then responded in kind: "It's surprising to me that it has become remotely a story. I don't know Ms. Kardashian, I know her public persona. What I said was meant to be more on pervasiveness of something in our culture, not personal, but she took offense to it and that is her right." And when The Hamm was asked about it again this morning, he said:
Can I just say something? I love that he doesn't feel the need to back down whatsoever. He's not offering a half-hearted apology, he's not claiming to be misquoted, he's not saying that he meant something else. He's having a conversation about what we consider entertainment and the celebration of stupidity. It's not the most important battle to wage, but I like him even more for conducting himself like an adult and talking about real things. Here's the video – The Hamm talks about this stuff around the 6:30 mark.

Charlize Theron to Michael Fassbender: “Your penis was a revelation” Posted: 19 Mar 2012 08:30 AM PDT In yesterday's post about Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron and the trailer for Prometheus (which is SO awesome), I only came at them from one direction: the direction of the Fassdong. It didn't occur to me until hours later that Michael is actually very much Charlize Theron's type. She dated a charming Irishman (Stuart Townsend) for the better part of a decade. She obviously liked very fair-skinned, boyish men. Charlize is hot for Fassy. I've decided it. As for whether Fassy is hot for Charlize… I don't know. He seems to only go for black, Asian or mixed-race girls, but I would imagine that most men would like to try out Charlize and her insane legs. We'll come back to this. In my coverage of the Human Rights Campaign gala in LA, I somehow completely missed that Fassy was also at the event. He presented Charlize with her Ally for Equality Award. I'm including photos of Fassy up at the podium, drinking something (Scotch?) and presumably toasting his girl. And when Charlize accepted her award, she made reference to The Fassdong. You know all of the HRC people loved that. Seriously.
[From People] "I’m available to work with it any time"?????? Oh, YOU IN DANGER GIRL. Would it be construed the wrong way if I made reference to my slut-dagger at this point? It would? Fine. I shall sheath the slut dagger and simply hope that Michael sticks with Nicole Beharie for the moment. *sob* Also – Charlize and Kristen Stewart were interviewed this morning on Today. Charlize really looks like Abbie Cornish here, right? Kristen is… awkward. As always.

Dog The Bounty Hunter shirtless and wearing a sarong coverup: hilarious? Posted: 19 Mar 2012 08:07 AM PDT
[From FameFlynet photo description] Is this guy’s show even still on? Yes, yes it is, and new episodes start airing March 21. I guess that explains these beach photos then. They were staged. It takes a special kind of person to bleach their hair blonde and rock an Elvis mullet. The same kind of person who would wear a sarong coverup with his gut hanging over it and proudly call the paps. You know that show Finding Bigfoot on Animal Planet? There’s got to be some crossover here. |
Jessica Simpson loved her weekend baby shower, and she’s not due ’til April Posted: 19 Mar 2012 07:50 AM PDT At this point, just looking at photos of Jessica Simpson is enough to give me a panic attack. Like, my heart starts racing and I break out in a cold sweat. I just can't help but think about uncomfortable she must be, and how the build up to her due date keeps growing… and it just makes anxious. I'm a mess on her behalf. It doesn't help that I have a well-documented fear of anything delivery-related… ugh. I need to stop talking about this. I might throw up. So these are new photos of Jessica Simpson at her baby shower over the weekend. If you come away with anything from this post, let it be two-fold: I will vomit on you if you talk to me about childbirth AND Jessica isn't due for another three weeks/a month. For real, on both counts. Everyone was saying Jessica was due at the end of March, but now Jessica is saying she's not due until, like, mid-April. Jesus. Poor Jessica. Jessica wore this "snakeskin" dress (I believe it's just printed fabric, right?). I don't even feel like I should comment on someone's maternity wear – I just hope Jessica is comfortable. Attendees at Jess's baby shower: Eric, her sister Ashlee, Pete Wentz, Bronx Wentz, Ellen Pompeo and Jessica Alba. An eyewitness said Jessica "seemed completely ecstatic." Here's more:
[From Us Weekly] I didn't even know Jessica was tight with Alba and Pompeo. Well, it's good. It's good that she has some mom-girlfriends. I wonder why Jessica's Fashion Star costar Nicole Richie didn't show up? Perhaps Nicole had better things to do. Or perhaps Nicole and Jessica really do kind of hate each other. |
Duchess Kate makes her first public speech at a hospice opening: how did she do? Posted: 19 Mar 2012 07:22 AM PDT I've been waiting for a few hours to see if we would get the new photos of Duchess Kate, but we haven't. So these are just some more photos of Kate from last week's outing for that Children & the Arts charity thing, the one she did with Camilla and Charles. You can see the new photos of Kate here, at The Mail. Kate borrowed a dress from her mother! It's a royal blue Reiss dress, and yes, it's very, very buttony. Kate got her Button Problem from her mother. She comes by it genetically. Really, though, I just wanted to talk about Kate's first public speech! She made her first speech (as a duchess) at the opening of the East Anglia Children's Hospice, outside London today. We already heard her speak during her engagement interview back in 2010. At the time, some of Kate's old classmates commented on her "new voice" – it seems like part of Kate's "princess lessons" were some diction and elocution lessons which gave her a more "clipped" accent. I think Kate has probably done hours of work just to make this short speech: According to People Mag's sources, she wrote it herself. Which… I don't really believe. I think she had a hand in it, sure. But I just don't believe that some staffers didn't help her, or that even this short speech wasn't vetted by the Palace. She says, in part, "I am only sorry that William can’t be here today. He would love it here… A view of his – that I share – is that through teamwork, so much can be achieved. What you have all achieved is extraordinary… I had a pre-conceived idea as to what to expect. Far from being a clinical depressing place for sick children, it was a home. Most importantly, it was a family home, a happy place of stability, support and care. It was a place of fun… [The work you do is] inspirational, it’s a shining example of the support and care that is delivered,” and added, “The feelings you inspire – feelings of love and of hope – offer a chance to families to live a life they never thought could be possible.” As for her manner… well, she did fine for her first speech. She seemed nervous, and she kept checking her notes – but that's why you have notes. Because when you're speaking in front of an audience, sometimes your mind goes blank. I think her manner inspired sympathy, but I'd personally like to see her elocution lessons toned down a bit. She seemed like she was trying too hard to remember all of her coaching. She would be better if she was encouraged to be more natural, even if that means speaking with her normal voice, in her normal accent. |
Jay-Z wants $150 million for Beyonce’s “comeback world tour” this year Posted: 19 Mar 2012 06:46 AM PDT Last month, there were a slew of contradictory reports about Beyonce and her devotion to motherhood. Some sources claimed that she was enjoying the hell out of her "time off" with baby Blue Ivy. Some sources claimed Beyonce was itching to get back to work. Maybe both sides were right on – I mean, it's conceivable that Beyonce has completely enjoyed her maternity leave, but she's such a workaholic that she really doesn't know what to do with herself if she's not selling something. I'll buy that. Anyway, it was clear last month that Beyonce was already scheduled for back-to-back projects for the next two years, including working on two new albums and filming A Star is Born with Clint Eastwood (and Tom Cruise?). And now this - Page Six reports that Jay-Z is "already working on" Beyonce's "blockbuster comeback world tour." Um… not even three months after she's given birth (cough)?
[From Page Six] Would the tour be in support of her album 4? Or would they just call this a "comeback tour" and it would be just like the tour for Sasha Fierce? Look, I've always said this: I admire the hell out of Beyonce's work ethic. She works her ass off. But! I'm concerned for a lot of reasons with this stuff. A world tour is grueling. There's no need to start the hustle again so soon after becoming a mom. Bey and Jay are already insanely wealthy. And why is Jay negotiating all of this stuff for his wife? I don't know. It feels weird. I'd like to hear what Beyonce thinks about her work schedule for the next two years, because it really is starting to feel like Judy Garland in here. |
Kris Jenner wishes her son happy birthday with a photo of herself pregnant & topless Posted: 19 Mar 2012 06:13 AM PDT
It’s your son’s birthday and you’re somewhat famous. To wish him a happy birthday publicly do you A) Post a cute picture of him as a baby or a child, maybe a photo of him at a christening or early birthday or B) Post a photo of yourself topless and pregnant with him, while clutching your naked breasts? If you’re Kris Jenner, we already know the answer to that one. We also have an even more egregious example of how the Kardashian girls (ok Kim, I’m talking about Kim) turned out the way they did. So this is what Kris did to wish her son Rob a happy 25th birthday, she made it all about her. To be fair to this fameho’, Kris did include some photos of baby Rob in her happy birthday post to him on her blog, she just made the header photo one of herself, because she’s the one who matters on her son’s birthday. Here’s what she wrote, and you can see this on her blog here: “Happy 25th birthday to my wonderful, handsome son, Rob!! Rob, you are the best son a mother could ask for and you make me proud every day. I love you so much!!” Well at least she didn’t post photos or video from his birth. Hand to God, Sting’s wife Trudie Styler “allegedly” did this to her son at his 21st birthday party, she put in his birth video for everyone at the party to watch. A witness said “everyone was totally shocked and just didn't know where to look when Trudie put the video on. It was very graphic and rather gruesome. Poor Jake turned bright red. It was certainly the most talked about part of the evening.” I believe it, because that’s not the type of gossip that people could think up without it actually happening. Who would imagine that a mom would be clueless enough to do that to her adult son? The same could be said for this pregnant nekkid photo of Kris Jenner. She probably saw Jessica Simpson’s pregnant Elle photo and thought “I used to look better than that, what better occasion to show off my former pregnant physique than my son’s birthday? I’m sure he’ll be touched, since he was the fetus inside me when I used to be so hot.” Kris is shown with Kim on 3-16-12. She’s shown with Kylie on 3-17-12. Credit: WENN.com |
Lindsay Lohan is putting herself on crack-lockdown, will countersue her victim Posted: 19 Mar 2012 05:31 AM PDT Well, this is an interesting start to the week. After last week's crack shenanigans, who would have thought that Lindsay Lohan would still be dominating online coverage? Oh, right. Everyone. Last week, Lindsay was at The Hookah Lounge when she was "swarmed" by paparazzi, so she drove off in her Porsche. Before she left the parking lot, she clipped The Hookah Lounge's manager in the knee (she kneecapped him!), and without even stopping the car to check on him, she drove off. It was a Classic Cracken hit-and-run. Well, the last I heard about it (late last week), LL was still crack-denying anything took place, but the manager guy has a lawyer and he might have pressed charges against her with the LAPD. TMZ reported that the LAPD "wants to chat" with the Cracken about the incident, to get "her side of the story" (because there are different versions). I tend to believe that all of the different versions have some truth to them. I think Lohan clipped the manager and drove off. I think the manager probably wasn't injured in the least, and that he only made a stink about it when he found out Lohan was behind the wheel. I believe the Cracken was probably under the influence while driving. I believe the manager probably just wants a payoff. I believe the Cracken will probably end up giving him something. But in the meantime, Lohan is trying to do an end-run around the justice system! Radar reports that the Cracken is putting the manager "on notice" that if he ends up suing her in civil court, she will countersue for all of the "allegations" he has made. For real. "I'm suing you because I clipped you in my Porsche! You're so mean!!! MOVE THAT CONE." Seriously, though – this is what a "source" tells Radar:
OMFG. That was one of the funniest, most delusional, least self-aware things I've ever read. Starting off with "Lindsay won’t be taken advantage of by this opportunist, which he clearly is." Crack grifter calls out opportunistic grifter. Also, "Lindsay is in the midst of a comeback right now and she won’t let this guy try and make a quick buck off of her." Crack grifter gets played at her own game. LINNOCENT 4 EVA. Also, just in case you were worried that this latest hit-and-run incident was the beginning of a whole new cracktastrophe involving years longer in and out of courts, jails and rehabs – well, you're probably right. But the Cracken would like everyone to know that she's putting herself on crack lockdown now:
[From TMZ] "People close to Lindsay" had to tell her to stop clubbing like a crackie? But I thought she told Matt Lauer that she's a homebody? That she feels uncomfortable in clubs these days? Do you mean she LIED to Matt Lauer??! |
Jason Russell, Kony 2012 filmmaker, was just dehydrated, says his wife Posted: 19 Mar 2012 04:57 AM PDT
The big story over the weekend, at least in our superficial neck of the woods, was about the public breakdown of Kony 2012 filmmaker Jason Russell. The 30 minute Kony 2012 video has been viewed over 80 million times. I watched the whole thing over a week ago, and was initially touched by the movement. Then I kind of questioned how simplistic it was. I remembered a moving BBC interview I heard with a former Sudanese child soldier named Emmanual Jal who founded a charity called Gua Africa. Why was this group Invisible Children encouraging people to go after one particular war criminal instead of focusing on the counseling and rehabilitation of former child soldiers? It just seemed to paint the issue with a very wide brush. Get the bad guy, the kids go home and everyone is happy. Many outlets had similar, but more informed criticism of the video, and of Invisible Children’s questionable fundraising. The Ugandan government claims that Kony’s organization was ousted in 2006 and that they’re made up of about 300 people, not the thousands of children the video claims. You can read more about it here and here. Anyway you’ve surely heard that Jason Russell flipped out on a street corner, naked, in San Diego, and was transported by police to the hospital, where he was put on a 5150 psychiatric hold. TMZ has two videos of this incident, where you can see Russell talking to himself and beating the ground. He was supposedly detained for public masturbation, but he just looks like he’s having a naked psychotic break not like he’s getting off. For this poor guy’s sake I hope he was smoking something or taking some new pill that led him to this dangerous, very embarrassing situation. From my perspective it did look like an issue with drugs. Russell’s wife said that he was under a lot of stress and dehydrated, though, which is just what the Invisible Children Spokesperson said earlier. She claims he’s not on any drugs at all.
[From Radar Online] Well I hope this guy gets the help he needs. I feel guilty for watching the videos at TMZ at all. If he was just some average well groomed guy having a naked breakdown, it wouldn’t be on TMZ. If this happened three weeks ago, that would have been the case. Charlize Theron & Kristen Stewart call themselves “bitches” during WonderCon Posted: 19 Mar 2012 04:39 AM PDT These are even more photos from WonderCon! Not only did Charlize Theron get to sit next to (and flirt with) Michael Fassbender for Prometheus, she also promoted Snow White & the Huntsman with Kristen Stewart. Last year, Kristen and Charlize were sent out to do some early SWATH promotion at Comic-Con, and Kristen was criticized by some major outlets for her "affected emo shtick" – like, she couldn't even sit in a chair normally, and she has all of those nervous tics and such. I'm happy to say that in these photos, K-Stew's nervousness (or her "affected emo shtick") has gotten much, much better. She sitting in a chair normally! She doesn't look like she's about to cry from the sheer ANGST of answering questions. Good for her. I wonder if she finally invested in a public-speaking coach? Also: Kristen is wearing a shirt belonging to Sparkles. For realz! During the panel discussion (which didn't seem to involve Chris Hemsworth), Kristen discussed her terror at all of the stunt work she had to do, and Charlize talked about her baby a little bit:
[From The Mail] Yes, Charlize is in a "bitch period". It's called “her career". She's good at playing bitches – there's no shame in that. Although I do think she might be actively trying to shake up her (bitchy) image a bit with her new baby, Jackson. Charlize also called into Ryan Seacrest's radio show last week to talk about the baby – you can read some of it here. She's learning about swaddling. Also – from everything I've seen, Charlize and Kristen are really nice to each other. They consistently say nice things about each other in the press, and they seemed to work well together. So even though Charlize looks kind of "over it" in these photos, I don't think that has anything to do with Kristen. |
