This is a preview of Rihanna's April Vogue cover. We already knew that this was happening - Rihanna tweeted about her photo shoot with Annie Leibovitz, and she's been really excited about it. It's certainly groundbreaking for Vogue - they rarely put women of color on the cover, and when they do, it's usually an actress like Halle Berry. But Rihanna is one of the most famous pop stars in the world (at the moment), and Vogue has been doing a pop music thing lately, given Lady Gaga's recent cover. As for Rihanna's cover… I actually kind of like it, awkward pose and all. It's sexy, and I usually don't find Rihanna that sexy. I LOVE her wig on the cover - I'm so, so happy there's no bangs trauma wig! Meanwhile, Rihanna did Chelsea Lately last night in Australia. Some people are saying Rihanna seemed kind of drunk during this interview, which… eh. I could kind of see that. But Chelsea seems kind of drunk too (isn't she always?). Okay… once you get to the end of the video, it does seem like Rihanna is a bit drunk. It's fine. BOOZEHOUND. Also - Gossip Cop really, really wants us to know that Rihanna and Colin Farrell are totally NOT HOOKING UP. Whenever I read such extreme denials, I always think it's true.

First I’ll give the disclaimer that this story is in the National Enquirer, so it could have a grain of truth to it or it could be wishful thinking. Beyonce and Lady Gaga are presumably friends or at least work acquaintances considering that they did that Telephone song and video. According to the Enquirer they’re not getting along and there are some bad feelings there. Like a lot of us Beyonce (supposedly) finds Gaga’s stunts tired, over-the-top and “tacky” and thinks that Gaga tries to steal focus from other hardworking musicians who don’t go to the lengths she does for attention.
[From The National Enquirer, print edition, March 21, 2011] Beyonce is just mad she didn’t think of this first. She’s not above wearing outlandish outfits while she performs, and she does videos as strange as Gaga’s. She just doesn’t let her “Sasha Fierce” persona bleed too much into her off stage presence, except for the occasional metal glove. Even if this is a manufactured feud from the Enquirer, you can see where they could be right, not only about Beyonce’s feelings about Gaga but for other musicians in general. Imagine if you’d been working hard at your job for years, showing up and doing exactly what you’re supposed to every day and some new employee comes along, screws the boss and gets a promotion right away. That’s pretty much what Gaga’s been doing with her “look at me,” “talk about me” antics, only she’s trying to get the attention of the fans. She works hard at what she does but you could see where people would say she’s not playing by the rules at all. She’s learned from other successful artists before her how to cause a scene and its like she’s throwing every trick against the wall and seeing what sticks. Talent does not trump all in the music industry.

I read a little something about this earlier this week, and oddly enough, it didn't depress me. Usually when I hear about Gerard Butler rubbing his glorious stank on some girl, I get out my rage shank and count to ten. Why am I not depressed about this one? Because allegedly, Gerard was rubbing on model Selita Ebanks. Selita is his type - leggy, slender, dark. And it sounds like if there's something there, it's not much:
[FromLife & Style, print edition, March 21, 2011] Selita was last rumored to be dating Kanye West, although I haven't seen or heard anything about Kanye and Selita together recently, so maybe that fizzled too. However, Gerard's rep went to Gossip Cop and denied it, saying that the rumors of a hookup are completely "not true." Gerard really is trying to make sure I continue to love him, isn't he? That's what this is all about - he's making sure that I'm not too overcome with Fassbender lust, and that I always remember that he's saving himself for me. Ha… I couldn't even type that without laughing! Oh, and for all of you saying that Gerard is going to be Jessica Biel's new boyfriend… ah, no. They are scheduled to work together on that movie where she plays a soccer mom and he plays a soccer coach, but that doesn’t mean he’ll bone her. He really, truly has a type, and Biel isn't it. Selita is, though. I'll buy Gerry with Selita before I would ever buy him with Biel.
