On Tuesday we learned the somewhat surprising but not altogether shocking news that actors Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds decided to end their marriage … and today we get to see photos snapped a few months ago in Barcelona, Spain of ScarJo hanging out with a handsome, mysterious man … who is NOT Ryan Reynolds. Now just because the pair were vacationing together does not mean anything untoward was going on … but in light of the couple’s split (which, I understand, happened “some time ago”) these photos might take on new meaning. People magazine is reporting that Ryan tried to keep things together with Scarlett but she wasn’t interested so … HMMMM:
Confronting the problems that distance had created in their marriage, Ryan Reynolds and Scarlett Johansson at first believed the relationship might not be irretrievably broken, a source close to Reynolds tells PEOPLE. The source says Johansson, in particular, was feeling the strain, and that Reynolds tried to improve their situation. “At first it was … let’s fix this,” the source says. “And then it got to the point where it was just, if it’s not working, it’s not working. He’s an adult, and he finally just said they should stop.” The couple’s age difference – she is 26, he is 34 – may also have been a factor. “She’s young, and that played into how she’s able to deal with things,” the source says. The source believes the couple decided “pretty recently” to divorce, before the problems got any worse. “They’re doing it this way because there’s no drama, there’s no cheating, there’s no nothing. These are just two people who love each other who are not going to be together anymore.” As for reports that Reynolds was involved with costar Blake Lively, several sources insist it isn’t true. “They worked together and got along really well,” says a source. “But there’s not more to it.” Another source adds that Reynolds is planning to let Johansson file for divorce first. And following the dissolution of their two-year marriage, healing will take time. “Ultimately, this is the best thing to keep both of them happy and healthy in the long run,” the source says. “But yeah, he’s sad. They both are.”
The age difference does make sense … Scarlett is still very young, very likely still sowin’ her oats while Ryan is older, ready to settle down. It sounds like they just want different things right now. Now, as for this new dude … who knows what is really going on but earlier today we learned that single girl Scarlett took off to Jamaica with her BFFs to enjoy some downtime so … yeah, I’m thinkin’ she’s just happy to be single again. I really fell for Ryan, tho. He seems like such a sweetheart … it’s a bummer that his marriage didn’t work out. I’m sure he’ll bounce back when he’s good and ready. I just hope he finds the right girl next time … he is so worth settling down with Mrs. Right.
I’m not gonna lie, I’m still pretty shocked and bummed that MCH and Jen couldn’t make it work but … I guess it’s for the best. I loved seeing the couple together, even if it did weird me out that the on-screen brother and sister were romantically involved. I just don’t want to think of MCH going it alone … he strikes me as such a great guy. Here’s hoping he couples up to a lovely lady when the time is right … and that he is able to enjoy the alonetime that he is dealing with now.
David Beckham, sporting a pretty horrid new hair’do, and son Brooklyn Joseph Beckham made their way to London’s Imperial War Museum to attend the A Night of Heroes: The Sun Military Awards in London, England last night to rub elbows with the creme de la creme in honor of the United Kingdom’s armed forces. I believe this is the biggest high profile red carpet even that Brooklyn attended and it looks like he handled the limelight like a champ … behold:
Soldiers, sailors and airmen who made enormous sacrifices in the past year were recognised at the event, which also featured the Prince of Wales, Duchess of Cornwall and Prime Minister David Cameron and his wife Samantha among the guests. The contribution made by the Forces was praised by many of the celebrities as they arrived at the event at London’s Imperial War Museum. The ceremony, run by The Sun newspaper, is in its third year and was hosted by Phillip Schofield and Amanda Holden at London’s Imperial War Museum. The judging panel included a host of famous names including Dame Kelly Holmes, Miss Jenkins, General Sir Mike Jackson and Admiral Lord West. Among the guests were actor David Jason, presenters Konnie Huq and Myleene Klass, EastEnders actor Sid Owen, Coronation Street actress Helen Worth, who plays Gail McIntyre, and footballers Beckham, with son Brooklyn, and Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand. Eleven awards were being presented to groups, individuals and units in recognition of their work. Charles, in a foreword written for the event’s programme, praised the efforts of Britain’s forces. He wrote: “There are very few professions where you sign on knowing that, at some stage in your career you may be asked to risk your life to insure the success of the mission and that some day you may pay the ultimate price for your actions. “Despite these risks, men and women from across this country have stepped forward and will continue to step forward to serve in our Armed Forces.”
Firstly, I can’t even deal with Becks‘ hair. I’m hoping he’s growing it out for some greater purpose and he’s just in that awkward in-between phase but as it looks now, I ain’t feelin’ it. The hair part is just … no. Brooklyn, tho, is a little cutie and he represented the Beckham family very well at the awards ceremony last night. It looks like Brooklyn will be attending more and more events as he gets older … mark my words, this is only the beginning. What do y’all think … cute, right?
For much of yesterday, I was feelin’ fine and dandy … I happily received a press package from ABC to promote the upcoming second season of V:
As you can see, in the box is a DVD of the first 3 eps of season 2, a V baby rattle and a gummy rat for eating. Those of you familiar with the original V series from the 80′s know where the show is going. But there are enough changes in this new version of V that we can’t really be sure what is gonna happen. As you may recall, season 1 ended after Anna‘s baby eggs were incinerated … and red clouds covered the skies of Earth. Season 2 picks up from there and the action gets going really quickly. Here is our first look at the official promo poster for the cast of V season 2:
As you can see, all of our fave familiar faces are in there. I do NOT want to spoil anything but there is a big reveal at the end of the first ep that literally made me jump up out of my seat and scream with glee. This reveal has been heavily talked about since San Diego Comic Con last Summer but I managed to avoid hearing about it … hence my surprise when I watched the ep. If I missed the spoiler, I’m sure many of y’all have too so I won’t spoil it for you. Needless to say, if you’re a fan of the original V series then you are going to LOVE what happens in the first ep of season 2 :)
Unfortch, late yesterday afternoon — after I committed to going to the movies with Darion — I got really sick. Flu-like symptoms hit me like a ton of bricks … and then I felt like I was run over by a truck. It knocked me out so bad, I had to cancel on the movie ;( I spent all night in bed … and I’m still not feeling great today. I’m just thankful this didn’t happen when I was in Detroit … still, I’m feelin’ pretty rotten. I’m gonna be in bed all day long as soon as I’m done with today’s work … if you are feeling well, revel in it people! The only think you think about when you’re sick is now you took for granted when you weren’t sick :/
Since last June we got to see photos from the SoCal set of the new film Water for Elephants … including train scenes, horse scenes, elephant scenes and dog scenes. Today, we get our first look at the first movie trailer for the film:
To be honest, I’m still not convinced that this movie is for me. I know I’ve voiced concerns about the film before but so many Pink readers have encouraged me to see the film (or at least read the book it it based on) that I became convinced that I might like the film. I dunno … this trailer doesn’t really wow me, to be honest. Check it out in full after the jump, and judge for yourselves …
So Elephants book fans, does this trailer look like it does the novel justice? For those of you unfamiliar with the book (like me), does this look like a movie that you’d like to see?
Eva Longoria flew a few thousand miles to be with Tony Parker yesterday, dining on good ol’ Texas BBQ. The picture shows Eva — dressed in black and wearing a black hat — at Rudy’s Country Store and Bar-B-Q, just north of San Antonio. Tony is behind the pillar. Sources connected with the couple tell TMZ Eva flew to Texas to spend time with Tony. We’re told it was all very friendly. The restaurant — actually it’s a gas station with a BBQ pit out back — is a couple of miles from the huge house that Tony and Eva recently built. The divorce is still on, but one source connected with the couple says not to rule out the chance for a reconciliation.
Now, either this BBQ joint/gas station has got some great grub or Eva and Tony are really working behind the scenes to at the very least stay friendly thru their divorce … or at best, to work on staying together. If the couple have already met twice already, then they’ve prolly met other times that we don’t know about. Eva and Tony‘s dueling divorce papers filing came pretty fast … mebbe they rushed into things? I guess we’ll know soon enough if the couple are really dunzo or if their dunzoness is dunzo.
“The King’s Speech” and “The Fighter” solidified their positions as Oscars front-runners Thursday morning when they each received four nominations for the 17th Screen Actors Guild Awards. “The King’s Speech,” a period drama about King George VI’s efforts to correct his stammer, earned nominations for Colin Firth, Geoffrey Rush, Helena Bonham Carter and, perhaps most importantly, in the ensemble category — SAG’s equivalent of the best picture Oscar. “The Fighter,” a drama about a Boston boxer who gets his shot at the championship, earned nods for Christian Bale, Melissa Leo, Amy Adams and ensemble. Notably missing from that list: lead actor Mark Wahlberg. “The Social Network,” which has been dominating critics’ awards, received only two nominations: for lead actor Jesse Eisenberg and for ensemble. “True Grit,” which was snubbed Tuesday when the Golden Globe nominations were announced, earned nods for lead actor Jeff Bridges and supporting female actor Hailee Steinfeld. Besides the omission of Wahlberg, there were some other surprises in the film categories. Hilary Swank earned a nomination for her lead role in “Conviction,” a movie that generally has been overlooked so far this awards season. And 79-year-old Robert Duvall, who also has been underappreciated this awards season, was recognized by SAG with a nomination for his role as a hermit in the period drama “Get Low.” Rounding out the lead male actor category is James Franco for “127 Hours.” Competing with Swank are Annette Bening for “The Kids Are All Right,” Nicole Kidman for “Rabbit Hole,” Jennifer Lawrence for “Winter’s Bone” and Natalie Portman for “Black Swan.” Mila Kunis was nominated in the supporting actress category for “Black Swan” along with Bonham Carter, Adams, Leo and Steinfeld. Joining Bale and Rush in the supporting actor category are John Hawkes for “Winter’s Bone,” Jeremy Renner for “The Town” and Mark Ruffalo for “The Kids Are All Right.” Besides “The Fighter” and “The King’s Speech,” the nominees for best performance by a cast in a motion picture are “Black Swan,” “The Kids Are All Right” and “The Social Network.”
Like the Golden Globes, the SAG Awards also honors acting excellence in television. After the jump, find out which TV shows and actors managed to secure SAG noms today …
On the TV side, HBO actors earned nine nominations. Among them: Al Pacino, John Goodman and Susan Sarandon for “You Don’t Know Jack,” Claire Danes, Catherine O’Hara and Julia Ormond for “Temple Grandin” and Steve Buscemi and the cast of “Boardwalk Empire.” There were no surprises among the nominees in the drama series categories. In addition to Buscemi, the other nominees for male actor in a drama were Bryan Cranston for “Breaking Bad,” Michael C. Hall for “Dexter,” Jon Hamm for “Mad Men” and Hugh Laurie for “House.” Glenn Close was nominated for “Damages,” Mariska Hargitay for “Law & Order: SVU,” Julianna Margulies for “The Good Wife,” Elisabeth Moss for “Mad Men” and Kyra Sedgwick for “The Closer.” SAG also stayed the course with the nominations for outstanding performance by an ensemble in a drama series. Along with “Boardwalk Empire,” “The Closer,” “Dexter,” “The Good Wife” and “Mad Men” also earned nods. Nominated for lead male actor in a comedy series were Ty Burrell and Ed O’Neill for “Modern Family,” Chris Colfer for “Glee” and perennial favorites Steve Carell for “The Office” and Alec Baldwin for “30 Rock.” Among the snubs: Jim Parsons, who won the Emmy this year for “The Big Bang Theory.” Betty White continues to be a force of nature. At 88, she was nominated for “Hot in Cleveland,” which also earned a nomination in the ensemble category, no doubt due in part to White’s naughty zingers. White has come full circle: She was given the Life Achievement Award at last year’s SAG ceremony, where her saucy acceptance speech was an audience favorite. Joining White in the category of lead actress in a comedy are Edie Falco for “Nurse Jackie,” Tina Fey for “30 Rock,” Jane Lynch for “Glee” and Sofia Vergara for “Modern Family.” Besides “Hot in Cleveland,” the nominees in the ensemble comedy category are “30 Rock,” “Glee,” “Modern Family” and “The Office.” It was also a good day for Winona Ryder. Not only did Ryder earn a nomination for “When Love Is Not Enough: The Lois Wilson Story” in outstanding performance by an actress in a TV movie or miniseries, but she also was nominated as part of the ensemble for the film “Black Swan.” She will be competing with Danes, O’Hara, Ormond and Sarandon. Goodman and Pacino will be vying for the SAG in the TV movie or miniseries category with Dennis Quaid in “The Special Relationship,” Edgar Ramirez for “Carlos” and Patrick Stewart for “Macbeth.” The guild also nominated “Burn Notice,” “CSI: NY,” “Dexter,” “Southland” and “True Blood” for outstanding stunt ensemble on television. “The Green Zone,” “Inception” and “Robin Hood” were nominated for outstanding stunt ensemble, motion picture.
While the Golden Globe Awards are determined and handed out by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (i.e. international press people), the SAG Awards are determined and handed out by the actors themselves. I, personally, put more weight on the merits of winning a SAG over a Golden Globe because the actors are being honored by the peers and cohorts. It’s odd that Marky Mark Wahlberg got snubbed but these sorts of snubs happen all the time … for various reasons. The Academy Awards is the show that you really don’t want to get snubbed by … but those noms won’t be announced until late next month. Were your fave actors and movies/TV shows nominated for SAG Awards today? Who are you rooting for? Click HERE for a list of 2011 Screen Actors Guild Awards nominations.
The first shots of Nicole Richie in her wedding gown have surfaced — and she looks absolutely stunning! The pictures, which appear on the cover of Germany’s In magazine, show Richie in her lace, tulle and organza Marchesa gown — which she tells PEOPLE was inspired by the one Grace Kelly wore in her wedding to the Prince Rainier of Monaco. The photos also show Joel Madden in his tux, Nicole with her father, Lionel, and with her daughter, Harlow. PEOPLE magazine will have additional photos from the wedding in Friday’s issue.
It is very common for celebs to sell wedding and baby photos to both domestic and international publications at the same time. One photographer takes all of the photos and then the two publications pick which photos they want to publish. I’m assuming that People got first pick because I much prefer the photo they released yesterday over this one. This photo of Nicole is a bit odd. The angle of her face doesn’t really work for me … and that smile looks kinda scary. We do get a better look at the top part of her Marcesa dress and, as you can see, In magazine also features 3 other photos on the cover. I can’t wait to see them all in much larger size … the photo of Nicole holding her daughter Harlow Winter Kate looks adorable. I really, really can’t wait to see more.
Ever since Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon confirmed their pregnancy news, the world has been wondering: Is it a boy or a girl? Maybe even multiples? On Thursday, Cannon himself put rumors to rest on his radio show, telling listeners, “We are having twins.” The two have been cautious about revealing too many details since they’ve had a “long journey” to parenthood, which included a miscarriage in 2008. But when President Barack Obama happened to ask about her pregnancy, Carey just couldn’t keep a secret. While performing at TNT’s Christmas in Washington 2010 on Sunday, Carey ran into President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama backstage. “They, ironically enough, questioned my wife about, you know, ‘So, what are you having, are you having twins?’ ” Cannon said Thursday morning on his 92.3 Rollin’ With Nick Cannon radio show. “And at this point she hadn’t told anybody anything because doctors advised us to keep it to ourselves until we get further along,” he said. “And because of the excitement, because of the emotion, she was overwhelmed [and] she shared with the President and First Lady that we are having twins.”
Aww … I love it! My guess is that Mr. & Mrs. Cannon prolly wouldn’t've confirmed the twins until Mimi gave birth if it wasn’t for the nosiness of the Obamas. To be honest, I don’t care what inspired them to spill the beans … this is just happy, happy news! We do NOT know if the twins will be identical or fraternal nor do we know when Mariah is due to give birth. But we do know she and Nick will be the happy parents of TWO adorable babies very soon … I cannot wait to meet them :D
