Newly Single Scarlett Johansson Goes On Holiday In Jamaica

Scarlett Johansson, newishly split from her hubby Ryan Reynolds, has surfaced on the island nation of Jamaica with a few of her female BFFs in an apparent holiday getaway from all the hullabaloo that is going around since news of her break-up came out earlier this week. Here is a photo of Scarlett and her ladies trying to get away from it all in Jamaica:

Days after announcing the end of her two-year marriage to Ryan Reynolds, a tense-looking Scarlett Johansson was spotted in Jamaica on Thursday with a group of friends. The 26-year-old allegedly initiated the split from Ryan, 34, after the stress of being apart all the time became too much for her to take. And now it looks as if she is escaping the divorce drama by laying low on the Caribbean island to regroup and and get some support from her pals. Wearing a white fedora, blue shorts and a grey tank top over a yellow bikini, the actress looked sombre and subdued as she carried a copy of Vanity Fair with Johnny Depp on the cover. Scarlett and Ryan released a statement on [Tuesday] saying: ‘After long and careful consideration on both our parts, we’ve decided to end our marriage. ‘We entered our relationship with love and it’s with love and kindness we leave it. While privacy isn’t expected, it’s certainly appreciated.’ ‘Scarlett has been unhappy for a while and wanted the separation,’ a source told Us magazine. And although Ryan tried to mend the damage, they both recently accepted the relationship was over. At first it was … let’s fix this,’ a source tells People magazine. ‘And then it got to the point where it was just, if it’s not working, it’s not working. He’s an adult, and he finally just said they should stop. ‘They’re doing it this way because there’s no drama, there’s no cheating, there’s no nothing. These are just two people who love each other who are not going to be together anymore.’

I say the couple “newishly split” because it was revealed yesterday that ScarJo and Ryan have been apart for some time. In fact, Scarlett was spotted with a handsome mystery man in Barcelona, Spain just a few months ago … well ahead of the couple’s joint split announcement this past Tuesday. It’s sad that these two had to break up but, again, I have to reiterate the fact that it doesn’t come as a big surprise to me. They may have been married for 2 years but I doubt they spent even half that time together. Maybe their break-up came about because of their different work schedules … who knows? While Scarlett has her ladies to help her deal with the break-up, here’s hoping that Ryan has his buddies to help him as well. Ryan, I am here and willing to offer my shoulder to cry on. Gimme a call, K? It’s the least I can do :D

‘Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark’ Pushes Back Its Broadway Opening One More Month

The problems plaguing the ambitious $65 million dollar Broadway show Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark continue to hurt the musical because today we learn that the show’s official opening date has been pushed back from January 2011 to February 2011. As you may recall, the show was originally scheduled to officially open on Broadway in December of this year before it was pushed back to January 11 due to technical difficulties. Apparently, those difficulties continue to hinder the show’s ability to open because the opening date has been pushed back again to February 7. Producers promise (cross their hearts and hope to die) that the show WILL open on February 4 but … at this point, I wouldn’t be surprised if the show never gets to officially open at all:

The opening date for director Julie Taymor’s financially and aerially ambitious musical about the superhero web-slinger has been moved to Feb. 7, according to spokesman for the production. As to any speculation that the date could change yet again, spokesman Rick Miramontez assured Culture Monster this date is set. “The show is ABSOLUTELY going to open on February 7th,” he said in an e-mail. The $65-million show, the most expensive in Broadway history, is currently in previews, and its opening has been delayed repeatedly. The official opening had previously been set for Jan. 11. The production, featuring music by U2′s Bono and the Edge, has been beset by any number of financial and staging delays, and Taymor has said she and her creative team have been working to revise the show’s final scenes.

As you may recall, the show opened to preview performances in November and really suffered from major technical problems that caused massive delays in show performances. It really sounds like the show is just too ambitious to come off without a hitch. Julie Taymor, as visionary as she is, may have bitten off more than she can chew … and is eating thru millions and millions of dollars to try and put on a show that seemed doomed from the start. I am very much interested in seeing Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark myself and I was hoping to see it in NYC after it officially opens in January (i.e. after it works out the bugs) but now that its opening date has been pushed back again … I’m really starting to fear the show will close before I’ll get a chance to see it. Spider-Man has been cursed with nothing but problems since the moment it went into production … I’m not sure anything can be done at this point to save the show and make it a profitable venture. I guess we’ll have to wait and see if it even opens on February 7 at all :/

Jake Gyllenhaal Gives Taylor Swift An $11,000 Guitar For Her Birthday

As if getting to go on coffee dates and pose for suspicious looking photographs with Jake Gyllenhaal wasn’t amazing enough, Taylor Swift has reportedly become the proud owner of an $11,000 Fender Gretsch guitar which was given to her on her 21st birthday by our dear Jakey poo. Ugh … some girls really do have all the luck, don’t they?

Jake Gyllenhaal is certainly scoring some big-time boyfriend brownie points with new girlfriend Taylor Swift. After recently introducing her to his family, the 29-year-old actor took even more steps to impress his new lady love. Jake splashed out on a whopping $11,000 guitar for the country music star. The grand gesture was for Taylor’s milestone moment, as she had her 21st birthday this Monday. And it wasn’t just any old guitar; Jake put a lot of thought into the special gift for his musical mastermind girlfriend. Taylor received a Fender Gretsch guitar signed by country star, Chet Atkins from her new man. Chet Atkins is a legendary American guitarist and record producer who helped create what is known as the 'Nashville sound', a smoother form of country music than Taylor is accustomed to. According to reports, Jake got the hot hint about the special instrument when Taylor reportedly mused over the Fender during a recent trip to Nashville. While Taylor and Jake have only been dating since October, this is just another sign that things are getting serious between the new couple.

Blech, I REFUSE to believe that things are getting serious between Jake and Taylor … and I’ll stand here with my fingers in my ears, stomping my feet until all this craziness subsides. Still, even I have to admit that this is a pretty sweet-ass gift and whether they are truly romantically involved or not … ti was very sweet of Jake to give Taylor such an amazingly thoughtful gift. But still …. booooooooooooo on them ;)

‘Skins’ Season 5 Releases New Promo Photos

Back in July we got our first glimpse of the season 5 cast of the British TV series Skins (not to be confused with the MTV-produced US remake version) and in August we got to see individual promo photos of each of the new castmembers. Today we get to see a new batch of individual promo cast photos of the Skins season 5 cast — say hello to Franky Fitzgerald, Matty, Rich Hardbeck and Olivia Liv Malone:


As those of you who are familiar with the original Skins TV series already know, this is the third time the cast has been completely replaced with all new actors. Seasons 1 and 2 featured one group of characters while Seasons 3 and 4 featured an entirely different group. My guess is that this new group of characters will be featured in Seasons 5 and 6. The start date for Skins 5 has not yet been revealed but my guess is that the series will start airing again very early in 2011. Skins is one of my favorite TV shows and has been for the past few years. Because it does not air here in the US at the same time it airs on British TV, I have to watch the eps online. The show is so damn good, I cannot wait for its return. MTV is hoping to capitalize on the original show by bringing an Americanized version to US TV here in the States. In all honesty, tho, I don’t need a remake … especially when the original series is far more superior. Bring on Skins season 5! I cannot WAIT!!

Congratulations are in order for Dallas Cowboys quarterback (and famed ex-boyfriend of Jessica Simpson) Tony Romo and Candice Crawford because today we learn that the couple have gotten themselves engaged to be married! As you may recall, Tony and Candice (younger sister to Gossip Girl‘s Chace Crawford and 2008 Miss Missouri) started dating shortly after Tony and Jessica broke up … and, just like Jessica and her new fiancée Eric Johnson, have decided to get themselves hitched!

Candice Crawford received a very special gift from Tony Romo for her 24th birthday this year: a ring and a marriage proposal. Crawford, pageant queen and KDAF-TV anchor, was celebrating the milestone with Romo, 30, and her family at Five Sixty restaurant in Dallas on Thursday when he popped the question, reports the Dallas Morning News … The Dallas Cowboys quarterback – who broke up with Jessica Simpson in July 2009, just before he started dating Crawford – isn’t the first of Simpson’s exes to announce an engagement recently. Nick Lachey, her husband of three years, proposed to longtime girlfriend Vanessa Minnillo in November – just about a week before Simpson announced an engagement of her own to NFL player Eric Johnson. Earlier this year, Simpson said she has no hard feelings for Romo during an appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman, admitting she still cheers him on from the sidelines. “Tony is great – still a friend of mine,” she said. “I still look at his cute butt in the outfit – uniform.”

The Teaches Of Peaches

After spending about 16 hours unconscious yesterday, I am happy to report that I am feeling a smidge better today. I’m not sure what the heck is going on but this is the second time I’ve come down with a 24-hour bug that really knocked me on my bum. Yesterday was a pretty hellacious day and the only way to not suffer was to be asleep. The body aches stopped at around 8PM last night but I slept the rest of the night away in the hopes that I would wake up refreshed. I wouldn’t say I’m feeling refreshed exactly but I am feeling a million times better. I’m deffo on the upswing and that is the best news ever. If I continue to keep feeling better, David and I are still planning to make our way to the Orpheum Theater in downtown LA to see Peaches live in concert:


I’ve been a fan of Peaches for many years now so I’m excited to see her live on stage again. She is performing a show titled Peaches Christ Superstar that I’ve heard is pretty fantastic to see. I’ve deliberately stayed away from any show spoilers so I’m really looking forward to seeing what she’s got in store for us. To be honest, if it weren’t for tonight’s show, I’d deffo be staying my ass in bed … but it’s Peaches. I gotta see this show.

And so … another Friday is upon us again. This weekend is the last weekend before Xmas so … I hope all y’all make the most of it! Happy Friday, Happy Weekend!!

Chick-Fil-A Breaks Ground On Their Hollywood Location

Earlier this month we learned the EXCITING news that Chick-Fil-A is finally planning to open a restaurant in Hollywood, CA next Summer and yesterday they broke ground on the new restaurant site! Chick-Fil-A Hollywood will open on Sunset and Highland in Summer 2011 … here are a few photos and tweets from yesterday’s groundbreaking demolition event:

As excited as I was about the news we received earlier this month about the new Chick-Fil-A in Hollywood, I couldn’t let myself get too excited until I saw something more concrete … this groundbreaking event really did it for me. It is very clear that Chick-Fil-A IS coming to Hollywood next year … and I cannot WAIT! I am really looking forward to living close to a Chick-Fil-A restaurant again … it will be a luxury I haven’t been able to enjoy since my college days at the University of Oklahoma. While I doubt I’ll be eating daily at the new Chick-Fil-A Hollywood, I’m certain I’ll be eating there as much as possible … and never again will I take it for granted :) Woot!!!

With Xmas just around the corner we are starting to see that many celebs are getting into the Xmas spirit. Earlier today we saw photos of Britney Spears‘s festively decorated home, last week we saw photos of Sandra Bullock and her son Louis Bardo preppin’ for Xmas and for weeks now Mariah Carey has been riding the Xmas train as she promotes her new album Merry Christmas II You. Right now we get to check out Paris Hilton‘s just-released Xmas 2010 card … Ho Ho Ho, bitches!

Amy Locane Charged With Aggravated Manslaughter And Assault

Back in June we learned that former original Melrose Place actress Amy Locane (who starred in the first season of the original show back in the 1990′s) got busted for drunk driving after she killed another driver in a car accident. Today we learn that Locane has been indicted with felony aggravated manslaughter and assault by a grand jury and faces up to 15 to 40 years in prison if she is convicted on both charges!

Former “Melrose Place” star Amy Locane has been indicted in New Jersey on charges of aggravated manslaughter and assault by auto following her deadly crash earlier this year … TMZ has learned. Sources tell TMZ Locane was indicted this afternoon by a grand jury in Somerset County. As we previously reported, Locane smashed into the side of another car in Montgomery, NJ back in June … killing the woman in the front seat. Locane told cops she had several glasses of wine before getting behind the wheel. Locane faces 10-30 years behind bars for the manslaughter charge — and 5-10 years for the assault by auto charge. Locane’s attorney Blair Zwillman tells TMZ he’s “surprised” at the aggravated manslaughter charge, adding, “I don’t believe it is supported by the law or the facts and I think it constitutes over-reaching by the prosecutor’s office.”

I can appreciate that Locane‘s lawyer is trying to argue is client out of prison but the fact that she KILLED someone because of her admitted drunk driving seems pretty clear to me that she needs to be locked up for a very long time. At the end of the day, Locane ended someone’s life … and no amount of time served in prison will undo that horrible act. Whether or not she serves a shorter sentence in prison or a longer sentence, she can never truly atone for taking another person’s life. It remains to be seen first if she will be convicted on these charges and second how long she will be sentenced to prison if she is convicted. I really have no sympathy for Amy Locane one way or the other. My thoughts go out to the family who lost their loved one in this tragic accident. The price they continue to pay is immeasurable :(

Watch: 30 Seconds To Mars, ‘Hurricane’ (Uncensored)

Last month we got to see the “edited for broadcast” semi-censored version of the new 30 Seconds to Mars music video for their single Hurricane and today we get to see the final, Director’s Cut, totally uncensored version of the vid. 30StM frontman Jared Leto tweeted this week that the version of the video we saw previously was NOT the uncensored version:


Despite the fact that we saw a censored and less censored version of the video last month, we have not yet seen the totally uncensored version of the video … until now. 30 Seconds to Mars have finally released the Director’s Cut version of Hurricane … here are a few screencaps:


For the most part, the video is very much the same in tone and storyline … but this version of the video features a few more sexual scenes as well as imagery of nekkid women. After the jump, if you dare, check out the NSFW uncensored version of the 30StM music video for Hurricane …


IMHO, the added explicit imagery does not add anything salient to the music video overall. In fact, the nude scenes that have been added to the video only make the whole thing seem cheaper. Still, I can appreciate that the band finally got to release the music video in the final form that they envisioned from the start … I just wish the nudity served a more suitable purpose in the video. In the end, the nekkid scenes feel more like a cheap ploy to garner attention for the video rather than for any real artistic purpose. So I have to ask those of you who dared to check out this uncensored video … is it better or worse in this final form?

Jennifer Carpenter Files For Divorce From Michael C. Hall

On Tuesday we learned the very sad news that Dexter co-stars and real life married couple Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter have decided to end their marriage … and today we learn that the couple have taken things one step further toward divorce. Jennifer filed divorce papers in SoCal yesterday which very likely means that there will be no reconciliation:

TMZ has learned … Jennifer Carpenter just filed her petition for divorce this afternoon from her “Dexter” co-star Michael C. Hall … but it turns out they’ve been separated for a long time. According to the document, the date of separation is listed as August 9, 2010. Carpenter cites “irreconcilable differences” in the petition filed in L.A. County Superior Court. Carpenter is also asking for spousal support and for attorney’s fees. The couple, who married in 2008, have no children.

UGH … this break-up is just so sad. I just can’t get over it. What makes the matter even worse is the irresponsible rumors going around that actress Julia Stiles has anything to do with the couple’s break-up. It is the easiest and laziest assumption to claim that Julia — who joined the cast of Dexter this season in a guest starring role — started an extramarital affair with MCH and to blame her for the split. I just don’t understand how people can believe a cheating claim like this when it is based on no proof at all. Just because MCH and Julia Stiles acted together on the show, they had to have been engaging in a cheating affair? Because of all of the irresponsible rumors, Julia Stiles felt compelled to issue a statement denying that she had anything to do with MCH and Jennifer‘s split. “I have absolutely nothing to do with the split between Michael and Jennifer. We are good friends and enjoyed working together. This is a personal matter between them, and we should respect their privacy. Although I too prefer to keep my private life, private—I felt compelled to dispel the rumors I was somehow the cause for this matter.”

It’s sad enough that MCH and Jennifer Carpenter are divorcing but it’s even sadder to make claim that he was cheating on her with Julia Stiles … who now has to go on record to deny any such thing. We will prolly never know exactly why the couple decided to split but I’ve been quite confident all along that it had nothing at all to do with Julia Stiles.

Britney Spears Decks The Halls With Xmas Decorations

We are just about 1 week away from Xmas but it would seem that Xmas has come early for Britney Spears and her family. Britney‘s home is already decked out from top to bottom in festive holiday lights … signaling to Santa Claus that her children Sean Preston and Jayden James are anxiously awaiting his arrival this year!

The pop superstar has gone to town on her outdoor festive lighting in the same way excitable Clark did in 1989 comedy National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. The Toxic singer has caked her sprawling Calabasas, California, property in miles of fairy lights, glowing rooftop angels, Santas, little drummer boys, baubles, stars and an illuminated Father Christmas. Even Britney-knockers must agree she’s created a magical setting for her two young sons SEAN PRESTON and JAYDEN JAMES this Yuletide. However, presumably Britney wasn’t as hands-on in the decorative process as CHEVY CHASE’S alter-ego was.

Yeah, I doubt that Britney was crawling all over her sprawling manse tacking up Xmas lights … but I could see how Brit’s beau Jason Trawick might’ve gotten drafted for the job ;) Our family never got into the habit of hanging Xmas lights on our home but we certainly appreciate the efforts of others who annually decorate their homes in such a festive manner. Even the homes that look a bit tacky seem to put a smile on people’s faces. To be honest, I don’t think Britney over did the decorations on her home … sure, there are a lot of lights but it deffo gives off a festive vibe. Happy Holidays and Merry Britmas, y’all!!

At last!! Madonna is ready to make new music, y’all!! Late yesterday, Madonna updated her official Facebook profile with a message that was disseminated on Twitter by her manager Guy Oseary that announced to the world that she needs to move, she needs to sweat … she needs to make new music! Here is the full text of Maddy‘s new music message to fans:


As you may recall, Madonna spent most of 2010 keeping herself bizzy with her Material Girl juniors clothing line as well as the launch of her Hard Candy Fitness centers. It’s about damn time that she turned her focus back to music. I was under the impression that she already had an entire album of new material recorded and ready for release (it was supposed to be the first album released under her new contract with Livenation) but this message makes it sound like she’s beginning from scratch. Whatever the case may be, I hope she doesn’t keep us waiting for long. It’s been AGES since Madonna released new music … I’m very curious to hear what she sounds like … again. This is great news, yeah?
