Gwen Stefani’s Family Is Cooler Than YOU Will Ever Be

Posted: 03 Jul 2011 01:58 PM PDT

Gwen Stefani packed up the family — hubby Gavin Rossdale and sons Kingston James McGregor & Zuma Nesta Rock — for a wee shopping excursion to find shoes for the boys and proved, without even trying, that they are not only the coolest family around … but they are cooler that any of us will EVER be. Check out the photos below and see what I’m talking about.

He is just three years old but it already appears as if Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale’s son Zuma might have aspirations of a music career.
The adorable toddler looked perfectly at home a she sat behind a drum kit and bashed away during a family shopping trip yesterday. A proud looking Gwen, 41, and Gavin, 45, looked on as their youngest son proved he has rock star qualities just like his famous parents. The mini drum kit was actually situated in a shoe shop in West Hollywood where the doting parents were browsing for new shoes for their growing boys. Other than their love of music, it is clear that Kingston, 5, and Zuma have both been heavily influenced by their famous parents sense of style. Both boys spent time browsing the store and picking out some new footwear, even taking their choices to mum and dad for approval. Zuma, who was still sporting an arm cast following a recent fall in which he broke his arm, was wearing a Yo Gabba Gabba T-shirt with jeans and appeared to have several bright blue streaks in his baby blonde hair. His older brother, meanwhile, had gone all out with the blue hair dye having coloured his entire head a turquoise green and shaving it into a very striking Mohawk style. Their always stylishly dressed mother, Gwen, was wearing a summery white blouse with wide-legged black trousers.
Bush front-man Gavin looked very casual in a white T-shirt and jeans.

Coolest family ever. End of story.

Move Over Jem, There’s A New Hologram In Town

Posted: 03 Jul 2011 01:45 PM PDT

Yesterday afternoon, Darion and I made our way downtown to attend the 2011 Anime Expo going on at the Convention Center this weekend so that we could attend the Hatsune Miku concert. Hatsune Miku, you ask? Well, she is the world’s first hologram popstar. She is a computer generated singer who has been all the rage in Japan for the past few years. Last night’s concert was her first ever here in the US. As a big Jem and the Holograms fan from back in the day, there was no way I was gonna miss seeing this real life hologram concert.

Altho Miku isn’t a real person, her backing band is made up of real people … 10 people, to be exact. A 6-person string section, guitarist, basist, keyboardist and drummer. She also has 3 hologram friends who perform with her sometimes. Here are some photos of what Miku looks like on stage:

I’m telling you … photos do not do justice to how cool Miku looks “in person”. She is a fully realized 3D life-sized character. Obvs, she looks flat in photos but in person, her 3D projected hologram form is really freakin’ cool to see. Because she sings in Japanese, Darion and I had no idea what she was singing about but I’d say 98% of that audience knew every word. This computer generated popstar has got a lot of fans here in LA. We had a blast. It was really cool to see … if you get the chance, I recommend checking her out.

Yeah, that was pretty much our day. This afternoon, we are BBQing with our friends Jim and Derek. Happy 4th Weekend, y’all!

Prince William & Kate Middleton Learn The Art Of Canadian Cuisine

Posted: 03 Jul 2011 11:58 AM PDT

On Friday we saw the first photos from Prince William and Kate Middleton‘s first full day in Canada as they began their North American visit and today we get to check in on the young newlywedded royals to see what they’ve been up to. Wills and Kate have been really bizzy but from the looks of the photos along the way, it appears they are having a blast. This weekend they took some time to learn the art of fine Canadian cooking together. Check out the cute pics below.

Until now Prince William's only culinary boast has been that he makes a mean shepherd's pie. After 40 minutes in a Canadian cookery school however, it was herb and cranberry-crusted lamb and croustillant a l'effiloche de canard confit – and a distinctly competitive attitude to his lobster soufflé. The Prince and the Duchess of Cambridge, dressed in personalised chef’s whites, were taking part in a cookery demonstration at Montreal's top chef school, the Institut de tourisme et d'hotellerie du Quebec. Although they were greeted by a noisy demonstration by Quebec separatists, the Prince did not let that distract from the main task in hand – proving that he was a better cook than his host, Quebec Premier Jean Charest. Mr Charest produced the first soufflé of the lesson, which was brought forward for display with a flourish by the Duchess. Two minutes later the Prince brought his soufflé up, removed the Premier's and said: ‘Much better! This one is mine.’ It was, he said, ‘a soufflé-off’. And if that wasn't painful enough, he turned to Mr Charest and rubbed it in with one of those Windsor puns that his father used to love: ‘If you could rise to the challenge that would be great.’ A despondent Mr Charest, who in fact has a reputation as an accomplished cook, took a sad look at his rejected soufflé and said: ‘Now I guess I will have to pack it up and bring it home.’ For the Prince, the demonstration was an opportunity for some light-hearted clowning about, pretending to pinch the strawberries from a bowl and insisting on dipping a spoon into a vat of melted chocolate for a taste. "Is there a time limit? Do we eat as we go? I'm quite hungry.’ The Duchess, however, seemed to take it all much more seriously. Student Theresa Rindress, 23, who showed her how to make an amuse-bouche of foie gras on a toasted brioche with apple cider jelly, said: ‘I showed her how to hold the knife and position her hand so that she did not cut herself. She was fantastic. She was very competent with the knife.’ She added: ‘I asked her if she liked to cook at home. She said she likes to cook, but does not do fancy things. ‘She more makes big batches, throws a few ingredients together, trying new things. But that's how chefs experiment, throwing things together and seeing if the flavours work.’ As ever, the old rule applied: whenever a royal tries something knew, tell them how brilliant they are. When William made goats cheese, baby cucumber and elderberry jam, teacher Jean-Louis Themistocle said: ‘This is the best cucumber I have ever seen!’ It cannot have been all bad, however: afterwards the Duke and Duchess, accompanied by the Premier and his wife and two of the Prince's senior aides, ate what they had prepared. There were not understood to have been any complaints.

Aww … how fun. I love how entertaining it is to see royals doing “normal people” things. The only thing missing is the chef’s hat … and, let’s be honest, Wills can always benefit from wearing a big hat. I think it’s neat that Wills and Kate not only cooked something … but that they ate what they cooked. I know I wouldn’t trust anything I prepared to be edible, that’s for sure.

Zac Efron Helps Ashley Tisdale Celebrate Her Birthday

Posted: 03 Jul 2011 11:19 AM PDT

High School Musical star Ashley Tisdale is celebrating her 26th birthday this weekend … and she got a little help from one of her co-star BFFs. Zack Efron — who you may recall famously dated fellow HSM castmember Vanessa Hudgens for, like, EVER before they broke up last year — came out for Ashely‘s party and the couple looked like they were having a GREAT time! Now, I’m not saying there is anything romantical going on between these two but … well … they do seem awfully touchy for being friends.

Not only is it Independence Day in the U.S this weekend, it is also Ashley Tisdale’s 26th birthday. And the young actress got a helping hand celebrating from her High School Musical co-star and old friend Zac Efron. The pair frolicked on the beach in Malibu yesterday with a shirtless Zac, 23, giving Ashley a piggy-back down the shoreline. The pair, who have been friends since they filmed High School Musical in 2006, laughed and joked around in the sand in front of a friends house where a beach party was in full swing. Both Ashely and Zac are well known fans of the gym and had no problem showing off their buff bodies … Ashley was clearly over the moon about having Zac around on her birthday, posting a message to her Twitter account to voice her happiness. ‘So happy Zacary made it to my party!!! He’s my brother/best friend!!!’

Brother, eh? Best friend, you say? Whatevs … they look close, whatever they are to one another ;) It looks like Ashley had a blast and that’s really all that matters. Tho … I wonder why Vanessa wasn’t invited? HMMM.

Rihanna Cozies Up To Drake In The Club

Posted: 03 Jul 2011 10:15 AM PDT

For the past year or so, it has been rumored that Rihanna and Drake (neé Aubrey Graham) were more than just friends … and today, TMZ brings us photographic evidence that the rumors may be true. Apparently the couple were spotted canoodling in a dark club together and they were lookin’ much more than friends. Click below to check out the grainy photo and see for yourselves.

Drake and Rihanna got pretty damn close at a nightclub in Canada a few weeks ago … snuggling up at a private booth — but does the pic back up the rumor that they’re really more than friends? The photo was shot at the Buonanotte Supperclub in Montreal on June 12 right around midnight. One source inside the club tells us the two were “all over each other” the entire evening … and were even seen making out. Rihanna has denied the two are an item — but after seeing this pic, you buyin’ what she’s sellin’?

Forget the reports that the couple were seen making out, this photo alone makes it seem like, yes, the couple are more than just friends. They sure do look cozy. To be honest, I kinda like the idea of Ri Ri and Drake hookin’ up. They make a good looking couple and seem well-suited for one another. I doubt that this new sign of PDA will make the couple change their “we’re just friends” stance but it does give more fodder for speculation. I think they’re together together … sometimes. Do you?
