| Deserted Posted: 16 Jul 2011 01:22 PM PDT In an attempt to avoid the Carmageddon shut down of the 405 freeway in LA this weekend, David and I decided to pack our bags and head Southeast into the desert for our very first visit to Palm Springs, CA. I have to say … it’s very different here. I feel like I’ve time warped back into 1960. I can’t say I love it (yet) but it’s deffo … interesting here. 
Our hotel has an amazing old-timey photobooth so I’m jazzed about that. The temps. will be well over 100 degrees all weekend long so … I’ll prolly be spending a lot of time inside enjoying the AC. I honestly don’t think I’ll have much exciting stuff to share … the plan is to do nothing but relax. While I miss LA already (seriously), I’m gonna make the most of our time here. Mebbe I’ll work on my tan …

| ‘Jem And The Holograms’ The Complete Series Is Coming To DVD Posted: 16 Jul 2011 10:37 AM PDT Back in May we learned the amazing news that re-runs of the classic 80′s cartoon Jem and the Holograms were coming back to TV … but today, I’ve got even more outrageous news! The entire series will be released on DVD in October. A few years ago, Rhino Video attempted to release Jem on DVD but they never got around to releasing the final 3rd season and then lost control of the license. At last, the entire series will be released on DVD in a new Truly Outrageous Complete Series! DVD set. Read on for all the deets. 
This past March we had the heads-up from show creator Christy Marx herself that Jem! and The Holograms would return to DVD in 2011 thanks to the folks at Shout! Factory. Now, just ahead of the San Diego Comic Con next week, retailers have been informed that October 11th is the street date for TWO different releases of the classic animated show that was produced by the people behind such legendary programs as The Transformers and G.I. Joe. Here’s the tune Shout! is singing: Jem! and The Holograms – The Truly Outrageous Complete Series! is an 11-DVD set with all 65 episodes of the show. When Rhino Video first put the program out in 2004, they never completed the releases and so many episodes from the third and final season have never come to DVD. Now Shout! makes certain you can get EVERYTHING AT ONCE with this collectible package (see cover art below) that includes a mylar-foil-board slipcase! Also on board are Brand-new Interviews with the Creator, Cast, Crew and Fans, plus Song and Art Galleries. In fact, one entire disc on this set is dedicated to just the extras! Yes! This is GREAT news. I managed to buy up the Rhino DVDs when they were available … and was really pissed that they just stopped releasing the volumes … then they lost the license and the DVDs went out of print. I’m really glad they have decided to release the entire series all at once. | Maddie Briann Is A BIG Britney Spears Fan Posted: 16 Jul 2011 10:10 AM PDT Maddie Briann Spears-Aldridge, the 3 year old daughter of Jamie Lynn Spears and Casey Aldridge, is like THE biggest Britney Spears fan around. Not only was she in attendance at Brit‘s Milwaukee, WI stop of the Femme Fatale Tour but she was also in the hiz earlier this week at the Dallas, TX stop. This weekend, she was at Britney‘s concert — again — at the New Orleans, LA show last night. Hello, stalker much? 
Despite her travails of recent years, Britney Spears is a good southern girl from a good southern family. The 29-year-old has proven that by having her entourage for the mammoth 33-date Femme Fatale tour consist mostly of blood relatives. Tonight was a special night for the Louisiana girl, as she played the New Orleans leg of the critically praised tour. It was quite a homecoming for the mother-of-two, and the Spears clan were out in force to support the jewel in their crown. Her parents Jamie and Lynne, brother Bryan, and sister Jamie Lynn all cheered on their girl, but it was her niece, Maddie Briann Aldridge, who seemed to be having the most fun. The adorable three-year-old, who came into the world amidst a sea of controversy about her mother’s tender 17 years, wore darling earmuffs to protect her ears from any noise damage. But it didn’t spoil her fun, as the toddler was hoisted aloft by her proud mother to dance and holler for her famous aunt. [This tour is] the first time she’d seen her relative rock the stage, and the little one sang heartily throughout. Maddie has been enjoying the tour with Britney's boys Sean Preston, five and Jayden James, four, earlier this week they were all pictured with their grandmother in a Dallas swimming pool.

This weekend, he uses his Facebook profile again to explain the inspiration for her name. It’s pretty obvious that the baby’s middle name Seven was inspired by Becks‘s first soccer jersey number but according to his latest Facebook update, her first name was inspired by mama Victoria Beckham‘s favourite book. HMMM. Did you know that Vicki B. likes to read? 
After a week of speculation, David Beckham has finally revealed the reasons behind his newborn daughter Harper Seven’s unusual name. Despite a long-held rumour that his wife Victoria has never read a book, the footballer said they had named their daughter after Harper Lee – the author of Posh’s favourite book To Kill A Mockingbird. In a series of videos posted on his official Facebook page, the LA Galaxy player speaks about his joy as becoming a father for the fourth time. Dismissing speculation they named Harper Seven off a character from Disney TV show Wizards Of Waverly Place or Harper’s Bazaar magazine, David said the name had a literary meaning for them. He said: ‘A lot of thought goes into our children’s names and Harper was a name that we’ve loved for a long time for a couple of reasons. ‘One reason is Harper’s an old English name which we loved and one of the other reasons was Victoria’s favourite book is To Kill A Mockingbird and the author was Harper Lee. It’s a very strong, passionate book. That’s where Harper came from.’ The revelation that is is Victoria’s favourite book may surprise some fans, because it was widely thought she had never read a book … The footballer went on to admit her former shirt number 7 while he played for Manchester United and England had also played a strong part in them choosing Seven as a middle name. He explained: ‘And then Seven you know, a lot of people have assumed its just because of my shirt number that I wore for many years and part of it is because I had so much luck around wearing that number, wearing it for England, wearing it for Manchester United. It was such an influential number throughout my career and a lucky number… but that wasn’t the main reason. The other reasons behind Seven was because it symbolises spiritual perfection, the Seven Wonders Of The World, seven colours of the rainbow and in many cultures around the world it’s regarded as a lucky number. So we love the name, we love Harper Seven. We’re very proud of having her in our lives and in our family and it’s an amazing time for our family right now.’ In a second video, the father-of-four admitted he was adjusting to life with a girl in the house after so long with just the couple’s three sons Brooklyn, 12, Romeo, eight, and Cruz, six. He said: ‘To have another girl in the family is really incredible. We’ve got three beautiful healthy boys already and we’re so lucky to have that and now to have a beautiful little girl. Having a daughter is a whole new thing. Having pink in the house, having lilac in the house… and you have to be a lot more delicate with girls than boys and I’m not used to that so it’s a whole new experience. It’s an amazing experience to have that little bundle of joy in your hands, making her little noises and opening their eyes, it really is an incredible moment for us.’

| Vanessa Minnillo & Nick Lachey Got Hitched! Posted: 16 Jul 2011 08:24 AM PDT Last November we learned the happy news that longtime couple Vanessa Minnillo and Nick Lachey got themselves engaged to be wed. This weekend the couple issued a statement to People magazine announcing that the pair have gotten themselves married in secret … on a tropical island … somewhere. Naturally, because of all the secrecy, there are no photos (yet) from the ceremony so we’ll have to assume that it was a lovely affair. Read on for all the know deets about the La-Nessa nuptials. 
Vanessa Minnillo and Nick Lachey were married Friday evening in a tropical island ceremony in front of just 35 friends and family, their reps confirm exclusively to PEOPLE. “For us, this is just a stepping stone to do what we ultimately want and that's to start a family together,” Minnillo tells PEOPLE. The pair, who became engaged in November, flew their wedding guests to the secret location as a surprise. “Nobody knew where they were going,” says Minnillo, 30. Adds Lachey, “Our wedding invitations were in the form of a plane ticket. We told them they were going away and the attire was 'island chic.' It was all very vague.” Minnillo, the new host of Wipeout, donned a two-piece Monique Lhuillier ensemble featuring an intricately embellished lace corset with rose and crystal detail, paired with a signature hand tufted skirt made of silk faille. The look was completed with a tailored bow belt at her waist and chapel length tulle veil. Lachey, 37, who hosts The Sing-Off, sported a Dolce & Gabanna suit. Their wedding will be televised on a TLC’s special called Nick & Vanessa’s Dream Wedding premiering on July 30 from 9-11pm ET/PT.
I kinda love how the couple kept pretty much every single detail about their wedding a secret from the public NOT because they wanted to ensure their privacy but because they wanted to maximize their ability to sell their special day as a TV special. Brilliant! You may recall, sadly, that Nick‘s ex-wife Jessica Simpson announced that she, too, had gotten engaged to fiancée Eric Johnson just about a week after La-Nessa made their announcement. No word on when Jess and Eric are planning to walk down the aisle but … if I had to guess, I’d say they’ll be married by next week … you know, just to keep up with the Joneses (or the newlywed Lacheys, as it were). In any event, let’s send our love and congrats to Vanessa and Nick on their new life together. I can’t *wait* to see the whole thing on TV in a couple of weeks. [Source]  |
