REMEMBERING 9/11: STUNNING Photos Of The Brand New National September 11th Memorial Released

Posted: 10 Sep 2011 09:11 AM PDT

Stunning photos of "Reflecting Absence", part of the National Sept. 11th Memorial, have been released.  And it's truly a work of art.  Come inside to see the first pics of the memorial before it opens to the public tomorrow, the 10th anniversary of 9/11.

As TheYBF.com remembers the 9/11 attacks during this 10-year-anniversary weekend, spectacular photos of The National September 11th Memorial have been revealed.  The memorial has been the center of much political and social controversy over the years.  But it's safe to say, the work of art constructed in downtown NYC, on the site of where the World Trade Center's twin towers formerly stood, is a beautiful sentiment at its core.

"Reflecting Absence" was designed by Daniel Libesking and features two reflecting pools at the base of where the twin towers once stood.

And along the outer perimeters of the waterfall are the names of the nearly 3,000 men, women, and children that were killed on the site during the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001 including the persons who died aboard United Airlines Flight 93 and aboard American Airlines Flight 77.

Another stunning photo, taken at night, shows the beautiful skyline that will be created when the reflecting pools are illuminated.  And the Freedom Tower, still under construction, will be lit up red, white, and blue in rememberance, and stands next to the reflecting pools:

If you have a particular experience about being in NYC during 9/11, TheYBF.com wants to hear from you. Email your 9/11 memories to Ashley@TheYBF.com and we'll post it up tomorrow in honor of the 10-year-anniversary.

Posted: 10 Sep 2011 08:36 AM PDT

Last night, a few celebs who have been successful in this industry & professional athlete game for a while, including Ricky Bell, Johnny Gill and Magic and Cookie Johnson, were spotted treating themselves to a yummy dinner at BOA Steakhouse in L.A. Check out the pics after the jump...

Paps caught longtime friends and New Edition group members Ricky Bell and Johnny Gill arriving at BOA steakhouse together last night. Maybe they were all smiles because they were celebrating the group's 28th anniversary.  Looking good fellas.

By the way, Johnny and his murse have a new solo album coming out.  And all umpteen members of New Edition will be touring together again soon.

Magic Johnson was walking hand in hand with his amazing wife Cookie as they left the restaurant.

Cookie donned a cute sheer button shirt, white blazer and wide leg pants (likely her own line of jeans) to match her hubby's causal look.

Former MLB baseballer Dave Winfield and wife Tonya were also coupled up headed to enjoy an intimate Friday night dinner with the Johnsons.

Loving all the love....

SPOTTED: Serena Williams LAUGHS IT UP At Lunch With Chris & Adrienne Bosh

Posted: 10 Sep 2011 07:57 AM PDT

Serena Williams, who's having a great run at the US OPEN, grabbed some brunch in NYC with newlyweds Chris And Adrienne Bosh yesterday.  See the group laughing it up inside and find out about Serena working with First Lady Michelle Obama's Let's Move campaign.

Serena was snapped having a good time yesterday at Nello's on the upper east side of NYC.

The tennis diva dined with Chris and Adrienne Bosh, and a few other friends.

I'm sure 'Rena was also getting mentally prepared for her match against Caroline Wozniacki later tonight.

And earlier that day, Serena participated in First Lady Michelle Obama's Let's Move campaign during a tennis clinic on Day Twelve of the 2011 U.S. Open.

Mrs. O played doubles against Serena Williams, and clocked 55 mph on her serve. The visit was a part of the First Lady's campaign against childhood obesity and to praise the U.S. Tennis Association’s initiative to build kid-sized courts.

Later on, she and Serena posed with Chairman of the Board and President of the USTA Jon Vegosen, MaliVai Washington, Billie Jean King, James Blake, and Katrina Adams.  Loves it.

Posted: 10 Sep 2011 06:40 AM PDT

BET's top rated and most watched scripted show in their network's history, "The Game," finally has a Season 5 premiere date.  Peep when the Sabers' new season and how Derwin & Melanie's pregnancy attempt will be played out inside...

The brand new season of hit show "The Game" will indeed premiere January 2012!

TheYBF.com was on the scene at Akoo's New York Fashion Week show last night where we got the confirmation straight from the mouth of Hosea Chanchez ("Malik").

"The new season starts in January...we go back to work next week," Hosea dished exclusively to TheYBF.com during his hosting duties last night at the Akoo (rapper T.I.'s clothing line) fashion show.

Hosea is also the new face of Akoo Clothing, and he revealed his favorite thing about his new gig.

“You know, it's just good to see us people of color, have a line....to participate in Fashion Week here in New York City. Just the whole thing being put together, Ralph and the whole team, who have been trying to do it for a while and they finally did it.  So I’m just happy to see that.”

Agreed.  And don't be surprised if you see Hosea's own designs added to the line.  He told us he WILL make that happen.  Interesting.

Will Melanie and Derwin finally get pregnant?  Will Mel reveal what really happened with that abortion? Will Jason & Kelly rekindle their relationship?  What will Malik do without Jenna?! And will Tasha Mack get back on her feet after getting FIRED by Girl Melanie?

Get excited!

REMEMBERING 9/11: The Kids Of The Iconic Florida Classroom...10 Years Later

Posted: 09 Sep 2011 11:07 AM PDT

We can all remember where were were on September 11, 2001.  But what about the kids who were in that classroom in the now iconic pictures from the moment then President Bush was given the news about the Twin Towers?

We found this report and thought it was an interesting peek into the minds of children dealing with traumatic events. The students from that classroom, many of the African American community, are now high school students,  And they are opening up about their memories of that day and what happened after.  Read their interesting perspectives inside.....

It's a day most people will never forget.  And this Sunday will be the 10 year anniversary of the biggest change in history of one of the most powerful countries in the world.

Former President George W. Bush had just sat down to read a story to the kids at Booker Elementary School in Sarasota, Florida when he was given word that two planes crashed into the World Trade Center.

Mr. Bush says he didn't want to frighten the children, so he remained calm during the crisis.  But 10 years later, what do the children remember about that moment and those that came after?

'It was like a blank stare. Like he knew something was going on but he didn't want to make it too bad for us to notice by looking different,' said Lenard Rivers, now a 17-year-old football player at Sarasota High.

Chantal Guerrero, now a 17-year-old senior at Sarasota Military Academy, talked about the possible impact of that moment saying,

'I think we all matured maybe a little bit,' said 'But since we were only seven, I'm not sure what kind of impact it had, because we didn't know how things were before.'

Another teen, Lazaro Dubrocq, now a 17-year-old senior at Sarasota's Riverview High School, said,

'I was too young and naive to fully understand the gravity of the situation.  'As I began to age and mature, it helped me gain a new perspective of the world and it helped me mature faster as I began to understand that there are politics and wars and genocides that occur daily throughout the world. It helped me come to a realisation that the world is not a perfect place.'

Their former teacher, Kay Daniels also shared her memories saying,

'I had 16 little ones sitting in front of me, the media in the back of the classroom, and I had to keep going,' said Ms Daniels, now a reading teacher at a Sarasota middle school.
'Emotionally, (Bush) left us, but he came back. He did come back into the lesson, and he picked up the book and for a moment he stayed with us.'

Where were ou when you found out about the first major attack from foreign terrorists on U.S. soil?  How did it affect you?

WHY?! Pretty Ricky, H-Town & Jodeci's New Video For "Knockin' Your Heels Off"

Posted: 09 Sep 2011 10:10 AM PDT

The two baby-making music male groups of the 90's have teamed up with the apparent baby-making music group of the millenium (we guess) for a new track and new video.

Check out members of Jodeci & H-Town teaming up with Pretty Ricky (sans Pleasure P) for this new ish called "Knockin' Your Heels Off."  Deep sigh....

Thanks for trying to revive my 90's absolute LOVE for Jodeci and H-Town, but no thanks.

Somebody told drunken Subway patron Devante Swing to come out of retirement with his Jodeci homies JoJo, K-Ci & Mr. Dalvin (WHERE HAS HIS ASS BEEN??), and H-Town homies G.I. & Shazam.  And honestly, we probably wouldn't have been mad at that since we ALL know these two groups were the ish.

But, despite the fact their voices are still the same and they could probably still sing circles around pretty much any male group that came after them, this here video just makes it seem like a joke.  Let alone the fact they brought on "Lingerie" and Pretty Ricky.  I will never be able to take a dude name "Lingerie" seriously.  Sorry.

But thanks for the ol college try.  Check out the fellas' new video and song "Knockin' Your Heels Off."

Will there be a collabo album?
