Was John Travolta banned from a NYC hotel spa for inappropriate behavior?

Posted: 13 May 2012 05:49 AM PDT

On Friday, we discussed the latest news in the John Travolta scandal, which I'm now just going to call Masseur-gate. (Sidenote: the name "Masseur-gate" makes John Travolta think of entryways and backdoors.) Last we heard, a third man, a Chilean named Fabian Zanzi, had come forward to claim that Travolta had propositioned him for a massage and for sex on a Royal Caribbean cruise ship. Travolta allegedly offered Zanai $12,000 for the services, which Zanzi refused. On Friday, we also discussed how Travolta's first accuser, John Doe #1, had changed his story – Doe #1 now says that he got the dates wrong, and that Travolta groped and assaulted him on an earlier date. I said at the time that Doe #1's credibility took a big hit with the story change, and it looks like Doe #1's lawyer feels the same way – the lawyer just dropped the first masseur.

The first man who filed a shocking lawsuit accusing A-list actor John Travolta of assault and sexual battery has been dropped by his legal counsel RadarOnline.com has learned exclusively. The shocking move comes on the same day that RadarOnline.com broke the news Travolta's accuser admitted he was wrong about the date of the alleged attack.

The Texas man who filed the lawsuit as John Doe #1 hired Los Angeles lawyer Okorie Okorocha to represent him but in a stunning turn of events, Okorocha is no longer handling his case. John Doe #1 claimed Travolta sexually assaulted him in Los Angeles on January 16, 21012 and said he could prove Travolta was in town then.

But Travolta's attorney Marty Singer not only vehemently denied the charges, he also provided proof that his client was in New York on the day John Doe #1 claimed the assault took place.

The accuser's attorney decided on May 11 to drop him.

"Okorocha did not feel he could represent John Doe #1 going forward anymore and recommend him finding another lawyer," a source exclusively told RadarOnline.com. "He is still representing John Doe #2 other alleged victims who are possibly coming forward."

Singer, one of Los Angeles' top attorneys, adamantly denied the incident took place since the lawsuit was filed, telling RadarOnline.com that he had definitive proof, including flight records and hotel receipts, that would show his client was not even in Los Angeles on January 16, 2012 when John Doe #1 said the assault took place in the Beverly Hills Hotel. As RadarOnline.com exclusively reported, John Doe #1 has said that his original date of Jan. 16 was a "miscalculation" and that the alleged assault actually took place a few days earlier.

[From Radar]

That's pretty rough. But… I still think it's odd that Travolta's lawyer has yet to go after the second masseur's story, which, in my mind, seemed WAY more plausible and easily verifiable. As Masseur-gate picks up steam, the common thread is always massages, groping, sweat and desperation. It feels like a pattern. It feels like Travolta has pulled this act so many times. Guess what? The New York Daily News has an interesting piece about just that – their sources claim that Travolta was so skeevy and gross to the masseurs at the Peninsula Hotel Spa, the spa had to "ban" him. You can read the whole piece here, and here are some highlights from the report:

A staffer at the swank Peninsula Hotel claims John Travolta was banned after several creepy run-ins with the spa's male employees. But the temporary ban in the early 2000s was eventually lifted and the "Pulp Fiction" star was welcomed back, says a former staff member.

Travolta was banished to the Fifth Ave. hotel's "no-thigh zone" after his inappropriate antics led to an insurrection, said Michael Caputo, a one-time Peninsula masseur.

"Travolta would always request a man for his massage, but after a while no one would take him because of his inappropriate behavior," Caputo said. "It got to the point where they couldn't find any men to take him, and they had to ban him," recalled the masseur known as Magic Mike, who claimed he worked at the Peninsula from 1992-2008.

Travolta's stay on the blacklist was about three years, and followed a complaint to the hotel's bosses, said Caputo — who boasted his past clients include Ricky Martin and Jennifer Lopez. The masseur said the sanction against the former "Sweathog" occurred roughly a decade ago. Hotel officials didn't respond to requests for comment.

Travolta's attorney, Marty Singer, dismissed the allegation as complete nonsense — noting that his client was at the hotel's famous rooftop spa as recently as six months ago.

"If he was banned, do you think he'd ever go back?" Singer asked. "He's never been banned, I guarantee you. . . . The hotel never told John he was banned, and John never acted improperly."

Caputo, 55, said male staffers complained about Travolta removing his towel, grinding against the massage table and lifting his butt in the air.

"These are signs to a massage therapist that he was trying to see how much he could get away with," said Caputo. "They went to management."

[From The New York Daily News]

OMG. Do you have the image now? Do you believe this "disgruntled ex-employee"? Or do you believe Travolta's lawyer, who doesn't explicitly deny that Travolta ever grinded against the table and lifted his butt in the air – the denial is only about the ban and a vague "John never acted improperly." Define "improperly." Do it.

Meanwhile, some of you have been wondering about Kelly Preston and what she's been doing while Travolta's dirty, sweaty laundry is being aired in public. Well, she had a "new" interview on The Conversation with Amanda De Cadenet which aired last week – but it was recorded before Masseur-gate. There are reports that Team Travolta is "purposefully" keeping Kelly "under wraps". A source tells Fox News, "It’s a means of damage control and will protect her from any public scrutiny." Basically, Kelly is being told to STFU and just wait until John is ready to do a happy heterosexual family photo op.

Halle Berry even more determined to move to France following paparazzi incident

Posted: 13 May 2012 05:48 AM PDT

These are some new photos of Halle Berry at Revoln's Run-Walk yesterday in LA. I'm really not crazy about her hair – does anyone think she looks a bit Janet Jackson-ish? And by that I mean tweaked. Anyway, last week, CB discussed an unfortunate incident in which Halle Berry went OFF on some paparazzi who were set up outside of Nahla Aubry's school. As CB said, while Halle seems like a piece of work, the paparazzi's actions were ridiculous and likely illegal too. It doesn't matter if Halle calls the paps to photograph "happy family candid portraits" with Nahla and Olivier Martinez – the paps still shouldn't be at Nahla's school. Halle had every right to be angry and to yell about it, and she probably should have pressed charges too. Unfortunately for Nahla's father, Halle is also going to use the incident to push harder to move to France with Nahla and Olivier. Oh, Halle. Stop.

Halle Berry is “more committed than ever” to moving her four-year-old daughter to France, following a nasty altercation with an over zealous and aggressive paparazzo, RadarOnline.com is exclusively reporting.

The pressure that has been building over recent months reached boiling point for the 45-year-old actress this week when she arrived to pick up Nahla from school and ended up in a heated verbal battle with an angry photographer.

The Catwoman star was swarmed by photographers and asked them get off the school property or she would call the police, reveals an eyewitness, prompting one snapper to snarl, "f**k off… you make millions and I have a right to make money too."

Halle became inflamed by the confrontation and began arguing with the photographer telling him, "Why don't you go do an honest job and stop harassing me and my daughter?"

A school official and another parent got drawn into the drama, and the police soon arrived to inform all of the paparazzi to leave the grounds and helped the Oscar winner safely escort Nahla to her car.

"The school has only ever seen this type of chaos since Halle arrived with Nahla," revealed a fellow parent, adding that even though there are other celebrity children who attend the school, they've only witnessed this type of aggression from the paparazzi towards Halle.

One of the mothers revealed that after the photographers were forced to leave by police, Halle broke down in tears and sobbed that this is no way for Nahla to live, saying she does everything in her power to protect the little girl.

In the past, friends have stated that Nahla is terrified when she sees the paparazzi anywhere and Halle has asked them to stop taking her picture and leave her alone.

"They scream out her name constantly and say awful things about Halle in front of her," said a pal.

Halle is now “more committed than ever” to get Nahla away from Los Angeles the pal says, and as RadarOnline.com previously reported, this is the primary reason Halle has given for wanting to move to France with fiancĂ© Olivier Martinez, because the paparazzi laws there offer more protection.

[From Radar]

Regarding the "Nahla is terrified of the paparazzi" issue… am I alone in thinking it's way more complicated than that? I see paparazzi photos of Nahla with Gabriel and with Halle. Judging solely from those photos, Nahla simply seems more relaxed and less anxious when she's with her father. When I see Nahla and her dad, it feels like Nahla is feeding off Gabriel's calm, loving energy, and she seems like a normal kid.

But when Nahla is photographed with Halle, there's a wider variation in moods, and I'm assuming that part of Radar's sources' arguments is true – the paparazzi are more aggressive with Halle, they'll get closer to her, they'll say things to her, and Nahla reacts to that. I also think Nahla is reacting to her mother's mood swings too, because kids are smart and if a parent freaks out, the child will freak out too. There are also (mostly telephoto lens) shots where Nahla and Halle and Olivier are all looking happy and everything is beachy-fun-family, and Halle – I believe – sets up some of those photo shoots to "prove" that Nahla has a new daddy – Olivier.

So… while I think Halle has a valid argument against the paparazzi, she also feeds the chaos and she feeds Nahla's bad reactions to the chaos too. Mostly I just think Halle kind of sucks for using this unfortunate incident as an argument FOR moving her daughter far away from her father.

Anne Hathaway shows off her trim figure, short hair in Miami: super-cute?

Posted: 13 May 2012 05:47 AM PDT

These are some new photos of Anne Hathaway in Miami over the weekend. She seems to be hanging out with friends, and while I don't see her fiance in any of the pics, I'm sure he's around. The photo agency is trying to make a big deal about Anne not wearing her $150,000 engagement ring (price according to Fame/Flynet) while in the ocean, but I feel like that's a non-story. Some women never take off their engagement ring for anything, some women will take off their rings and jewelry for beaches, showers, etc. Everybody's different. Anne was in Miami to help celebrate Valentino's 80th birthday, which… Valentino holds his birthday party in Miami? That seems rather gauche for him. But Annie's one of his girls, so it's nice that she showed up.

I don't know if she's finished filming Les Miserables or if she just had a weekend off. That's why she's got this haircut, remember – she's playing Fantine, and Anne has gone through a "dramatic" makeover to look authentic for the role. The makeover involves this miserable haircut… I can already feel some of you preparing your pro-short-hair diatribes, so let me just say this: there are many women who can rock a short haircut. I am not one of them. Neither is Anne.

While in Miami, Annie was also showing off her trimmer Fantine-figure in a black bikini. We don't have access to the full-body shots, but you can see some at Dlisted. She looks very trim, but… I don't know, to me, she doesn't look emaciated. I wonder if the reports of her "extreme dieting and weight loss" have been exaggerated. (Her boobs do look smaller though!)

I'm also including some shots of Anne walking around Miami in a long-sleeved black dress which… I hate myself, but I really, really want this dress. I think it's super-cute.

Chris Hemsworth & Elsa Pataky welcome baby girl India Hemsworth

Posted: 13 May 2012 05:45 AM PDT

People always assume that because I'm half-Indian, I have strong feelings about the name "India" for an actual person. I don't have some major opinion on it really. Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky welcomed their first child on Friday – a baby girl they named India. I don't know if she's got a middle name, but I kind of like the simplicity of "India Hemsworth". It's cute. Lord Mountbatten ("The Last Viceroy" of India) named his daughter India as well – that's what I always associate it with. I guess I've just grown to the point where I don't mind if people name their babies country-names. Name your child China, or India, or America. Name him England. Name her Ireland. Name him Egypt. Name her or him Kenya. All of those names are totally not as bad as some of the other names I've heard.

Thor’s a dad! Chris Hemsworth, who flexes his superhero muscles in The Avengers, and his actress wife Elsa Pataky welcomed a baby girl on Friday.

They named their first child India. “We love the country and love the name,” Hemsworth, 28, tells USA Today.

Hemsworth, who also stars in the upcoming Snow White and the Huntsman, and Pataky, 35, who appeared in Fast Five, tied the knot in 2010.

When she announced her pregnancy, the Spanish beauty had some other news – for Hemsworth. – saying he’d better brush up on his language skills.

"I'm only going to speak to the baby in Spanish,” she said in an interview in Hola! magazine. “I already told my husband, 'Get ready fast with Spanish because, if not, you're not going to be able to understand what we say.”

[From People Magazine]

I never realized the age difference between Chris and Elsa – I thought he was older than 28 and I thought she was younger than 35. Oh well – I'm sure it will work. Those Aussie boys seems to mate for life. Is it interesting that Chris and Elsa welcomed their baby just a few months after Chris's fellow Avenger Robert Downey Jr. welcomed his son? Maybe little Exton Elias and India Hemsworth will end up together one day. They'll be a crime-fighting duo. Or, you know, actors.

Stacy Keibler was a “cheerleader” during Obama & Clooney’s b-ball game

Posted: 13 May 2012 05:30 AM PDT

Stacy Keibler was at yesterday's Revlon Walk-Run event in LA. Other celebrities included in the event: Halle Berry, Mario Lopez, Matthew Morrison and Matt Bomer. Stacy not only participated in the event – she was invited onto the dais and she ended up standing right beside (and embracing) Halle Berry, the hostess of the event. Does Stacy's inclusion mean that she's "arrived"? Ugh. I don't want to answer that question, because I would be forced to admit that Stacy seems to be becoming more and more of a "B-list celebrity" in her own right. Like, when George dumps her, I'm starting to get the feeling that Stacy won't be completely Sarah Larson'd – Stacy won't crawl into some dark cave, never to be heard from again. I feel like she's aiming for a post-Clooney C-list celebrity status in which she manages to find constant "work" on budget red carpets, as a model for cheap products, and the occasional reality show gig.

Anyway, you know how Stacy was George's "date" at the big LA fundraiser for Pres. Obama last Thursday? It must be so because Stacy's publicist managed to get an item into Us Weekly about how Stacy and George were kissing in front of POTUS and junk. Well, Stacy is now authorized to speak about what happened at after the event. Basically, George let his girl off the leash long enough for her to name-drop not only HIS name but the president's.

That’s one impressive starting lineup! The morning after his $40,000-a-plate fundraiser for President Barack Obama–which he hosted at his L.A. home–George Clooney hit the basketball court with the leader of the free world.

The Ides of March star’s girlfriend Stacy Keibler opened up to Us Weekly Saturday at the 19th Annual EIF Revlon Run/Walk For Women about what it was like watching Clooney shoot hoops with the president.

“I got to watch them play basketball,” Keibler, 32, told Us. “It was something I’ll never forget.”

Adding that she “was a cheerleader on the side,” the actress says she lucked out and ended up not having to choose who to root for.

Explained Keibler, “George and Obama were on the same team, so they both [won] . . .It made it easy!”

Clooney’s Thursday fundraiser is said to have raked in an estimated $15 million for Obama, who made headlines this week with his public support for the legalization of gay marriage.

“We raised a lot of money because everybody loves George,” the Commander-in-Chief, 50, told the crowd of his actor pal. “They like me, they love him. And rightfully so.”

[From Us Weekly]

Yes, Stacy described herself as a cheerleader. She actually was a cheerleader years ago, before she was a lady wrestler and professional girlfriend. Now, I don't mind that Clooney and Pres. Obama are bros and they played a game of basketball at Clooney's mansion. That is… acceptable. What I can't accept is that Stacy was there too, "cheerleading," and that she was authorized to speak about it. That's embarrassing… for Clooney AND for Obama.

And yes, that's her cameltoe. There's also an unfortunate seam. *shakes head, gives up*
