Rihanna CHANNELS Cleopatra For Gala Performance & PARTIES All Night in NYC

Posted: 15 May 2012 09:45 AM PDT

Rihanna channeled Cleopatra recently for a performance benefiting the Robin Hood Foundation in NYC. See pics & video of her performance inside and what she wore for a night of clubbing in NYC.

Pop star Rihanna had a very busy day yesterday as she was seen leaving her NYC hotel wearing leopard print shoes, with a white bath robe and her face painted up as a warrior princess...or Cleopatraesque vibe.

She was on her way to perform at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City for the Robin Hood Foundation which fights poverty.

During her performance, which included her singles like "Where Have You Been," she went with a futuristic Egyptian theme.

And leopard is clearly the item of choice in her queendom.

A busty Tyra Banks was amongst the audience members taking in Rihanna's show.  This wig though...

Watch a clip of Rihanna's performance here:

After the gala, Rih returned to her room to switch up her wardrobe to a black hi-low skirt, t-shirt & heels.  She was spotted heading to Catch in the Meatpacking District where she partied until early this morning.  You know...her usual.

It's weird Rihanna would be partying so soon after her trip to the hospital.....but that's the rockstar lifestyle we guess...

And she showed love to a street vendor as she bought a rose which she waved in the air for fun.

Rihanna went through Navy Training and received an Honorary Shipmate certificate. Chick took her Battleship role seriously...

Rohan Marley Is ENGAGED...To His Model Boo Isabeli Fontana

Posted: 15 May 2012 09:11 AM PDT

Artist Rohan Marley--Lauryn Hill's ex and father to 5 of her kids--just got engaged to his girlfriend of about a year, model Isabeli Fontana.  The latest development in this alleged love triangle inside...

39-year-old Rohan Marley has made his reggae love official for his 28-year-old Brazilian model girlfriend Isabeli.  The twosome, who hit up the 2012 Met Gala last week (above pic), has confirmed their engagement to the Brazilian newspaper, Terra.

Last year, Rohan denied being the father of Lauryn's 6th child--even though many believed they were still very much together in private--and started dating Isabeli while Lauryn was pregnant.

Now, Isabeli has confirmed the two are headed to the alter...in Ethiopia--the birthplace of Rastafarian culture...at some point in the near future.  Isabeli told the newspaper:

"Rohan told me that we must return to their origins so that the marriage will last forever."

Oh....ok.  This will be Rohan's second marriage (his first was to his college girlfriend) and Isabeli's third marriage.  Yes, third.  She has two sons--1 from each previous marriage.

According to Huff Post:

Marley, a former college football player, now runs a coffee company and has a line of headphones. Fontana has modeled for Victoria's Secret, Escada, Dolce & Gabbana, Revlon, Ralph Lauren and others, as well as serving as the face of Viktor & Rolf's Flowerbomb fragrance. She also appeared in the 2011 Pirelli calendar, and she recently received waaaay too much self-tanner in that now-infamous H&M bikini ad. The couple recently attended the 2012 Met Gala together.

Meagan Good and Laz Alonso promoted their new show "Infamous" at the NBC fronts this week, where there showed a little "monkey love." See the pics and a sneak peek inside, and find out what Bobbi Kris is doing at this year's Billboard Awards.

Last night, Laz Alonso and Meagan Good posed with actor Victor Garber as they celebrated their show "Infamous" being picked up by NBC at the network's upfronts party. Meagan will play the lead role (only the second lead role for an African American woman on network tv in 30 years, after Kerry Washington in "Scandal") whose character is "Joanna."

The show, which was previously titled "Notorious" but changed, surrounds a female detective (Meagan) returning undercover to the wealthy family she grew up in -- as the maid's daughter to solve the murder of the notorious heiress who was once her closest friend.

And during last night's party, both Meagan and Laz had a little monkey love going on.

Meagan tweeted, "Soo my tv show INFAMOUS got picked up..sooo I mingled with my other network family... People ... Actors ... I'm Smh"

Kanye CONFIRMED To Appear On "Keeping Up With The Kardashians," Teyana Taylor OFFICIALLY Signs To His G.O.O.D. Music Label

Posted: 14 May 2012 04:04 PM PDT

Despite Kim K. publicly saying in an interview on the "Today Show" just weeks ago that she would never put her personal relationships on her show again, she went and did just that.   The official confirmation about Kanye joining the Kardashians, plus Teyana Taylor signing on with Mr. West, inside...

In the most predictable news of the day, Kanye West has been confirmed as making an appearance on the upcoming season of "Keeping Up With The Kardashians."  Typical easy publicity tool for the culture vultures that are the Kardashians.  And what Kanye is gaining out of this--other than the obvious--who knows.

The rapper was in L.A. this weekend to spend some time with his boo at the Laker game, (above) her L'Uomo Vogue photo shoot (VOGUE Italia's editor corrected Kim after she tweeted it would be for VOGUE Italia), and reportedly Kourtney Kardashian's baby shower.  Kim flip-flopped on her previous statements about guarding her romantic life and and told E!'s reporter today:

"I want to show my life.  If we are having dinner and he does show up, I'm sure we're not going to go, 'Stop the cameras!'"

Yes, because the end of days would ensue if that family stopped rolling the cameras.  She continued:

"I'm not going to be taking a bubble bath and drinking champagne or on a sex swing [on camera] like Khloé [Kardashian Odom] and Lamar [Odom] do," Kim said. "It's not going to be like that."

"My heart's a little more guarded," she said. "I showed so much of myself in the past. You almost get embarrassed showing this big wedding, which I would have had cameras or not. So I think you want to just guard yourself."

And Us Weekly claims Kanye is working on a new track about Kim--where he dreams of "wedding bells".  Interesting that Us Weekly has never once talked about a rap song before it's been released, but they conveniently know all about Kanye's new one--with the lyrics:

"Now she back in the club in a tight dress with dreams of someday wearing a white dress," he says in a new rap. "Even though I met you in the club in a tight dress/At first sight I could picture you in a white dress."

Here we go....

In other Kanye news, 21-year-old Teyana Taylor, who opened for The Game's European "Red Tour" late last year, has just been signed to his G.O.O.D. Music label.  She's jumped ship from Pharrell's StarTrak label--which she was signed to at 15--to join the fellas over at Def Jam.

According to the press release, "Kanye has signed Teyana Taylor, the multi-talented young singer-songwriter, rapper, dancer/choreographer, and actress to G.O.O.D.’s expanding artist roster."

Details of Teyana’s first album and single releases will be revealed in the weeks and months ahead. Meanwhile, her first mixtape, The Misunderstanding of Teyana Taylor, released last month, has spun off a pair of hot new tracks: “DUI” featuring fellow Def Jam artists Fabolous and Jadakiss, and “Make Your Move” featuring Wale. The mixtape, according to the press release, evokes classic ’80s and ’90s R&B, paying homage to Teyana’s influences including Janet Jackson, Mary J. Blige, and especially Lauryn Hill.

Not gonna lie--I love her "Marvin's Room" cover "Her Room." But didn't Teyana deny the fact she was signing with Kanye just a few months ago on The Breakfast Club?  Whatevs.  Congrats anyway.

DO GOODER: Jay-Z Set To Headline (And Curate) Philly's "Made In America" Festival

Posted: 14 May 2012 02:24 PM PDT

And the notches in his belt just keep on coming.  What does the man who has it all--wife, kid, ownership, music career--want?  His own diverse music festival of course.  Check out Jay-Z announcing his upcoming headlining performance at the Philadelphia Made In America Music Festival--which will benefit UnitedWay inside...

While his wife will be busy holding down Memorial Day Weekend in Atlantic City, Jay will be doing his thing Labor Day weekend in Philadelphia.  At the Philadelphia Museum of Art today, Hov and Philly Mayor Michael Nutter announced a two-day music festival called Budweiser Made in America.

Jay's Philly artist Freeway hit the stage during the announcement, as Jay told the crowd:

"Everyone knows my love affair with Philly from the amazing, talented artists I've signed from here...Whenever I enter into a project, I try to hit on some touch points. The first thing is: Is it great?  The second one is: Is it gonna push the culture forward?"

And he plans on pushing the culture forward by serving as curator himself on 3 stages and 30 acts throughout the festival at Fairmont Park Sept. 1st and 2nd.  And the acts won't just be hip hop--there will be an eclectic lineup of rock, hip-hop, R&B, Latin and dance.  This will be interesting.  Almost like he's trying to start his own Coachella.

By the way, Jay is continuing his partnership with UnitedWay by announcing that a portion of all proceeds will benefit the non profit organizations United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey.

No other acts--other than himself--have been announced, but since his speed dial likely consists of Beyonce, Kanye West, Coldplay's Chris Martin & others--we wouldn't be surprised if they make the list.  Gotta love music for a cause.

*BONUS* At the announcement ceremony, Jay spoke with CNN about President Obama's recent comments in support of gay marriage. And Mr. Carter supports the right to gay marriage as well:

Serena Williams Rocks The June 2012 Cover of VOGUE

Posted: 14 May 2012 01:42 PM PDT

Now THIS is an accomplishment to boast about.  YBF chick Serena Williams landed the June 2012 cover of American VOGUE as the iconic magazine focuses on TEAM USA & top American Olympic hopefuls.  Check the cover pic inside, plus Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade's pic in the mag's Olympic issue as well...

With the Summer Olympics going down in London this July, the magazine world is taking notice of the fittest bodies around.  Namely, for their cover, Serena Williams, soccer star Hope Solo & swimmer Ryan Lochte.

In the Annie Leibovitz-shot feature, the Olympic hopefuls pose in their swimsuits and fashionable sports gear while showing off their toned and rock hard bods.  It's a good look for the fashion designer/nail tech/top tennis player in the world.

BONUS: Dwyane Wade is also featured in the issue alongside model and ballet dancer Karlie Kloss for a spread where some of the top 2012 Olympians are featured.  Dwyane spoke to VOGUE about his upcoming 3rd Olympics:

The first time Dwyane Wade went to the Olympics, in 2004, he was really still in awe of his heroes. Having grown up on the South Side of Chicago (where he is at work building a community center), he idolized guys like Michael Jordan, whom Wade, 30, patterned himself after in a lot of ways. “We grew up watching the Dream Team, and we thought it was an honor to be on the team,” he says of his fellow rookie Olympians, players like LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony. He was shocked when, in Athens, the all-stars lost to Puerto Rico, Lithuania, and then to Argentina in the semi-finals—a golden flop, 89–81. “We had to wait four years to get back and hush everybody up and redeem ourselves.”

He flew past injuries—you don’t make mind-blowing layups without risking at least your hamstring—to lead the so-called Redeem Team in 2008. He scored big when it mattered, especially in the difficult final game against Spain. When Kobe Bryant and LeBron ran into foul trouble early and were benched four minutes into the game, Wade surged ahead, coming up with three three-pointers and reigniting the team’s fight for the gold. Is he surprised to be up for 2012 in London? “I thought Beijing would be my last one, but here I am!”

Karlie's wearing an Oscar de la Renta sequined guipure lace dress & Manolo Blahnik pumps in the above pic.

INTERVIEW FAB: Alicia Keys DISHES On "Experimental SEX" & Her Fave Position With Swizz Beatz & More

Posted: 14 May 2012 12:06 PM PDT

Alicia Keys recently sat for a revealing interview with British import Amanda de Cadenet for "The Conversation." Get the deets on her views about natural childbirth, breastfeeding and trying new things in bed inside....

On "The Conversation," executive produced by Demi Moore and hosted by Amanda de Cadenet,  Alicia Keys spoke candidly about giving birth to Egypt naturally, sex, her body image and a host of other intimate subjects.

Here are the highlights:

On her body image
Well, I think that we as females are like the most beautiful, gorgeous creatures on the world and I think that we’re gorgeous no matter what size that we are. In fact, I personally think that we are more beautiful when we are a bit thicker, bigger and more robust. I just think it’s gorgeous. Even seeing older sculptures from past centuries and you see the women very thick and very beautiful and I personally, think it’s really, really gorgeous. I’m grateful that I actually feel like that because I think that a lot of us feel as though we have to be some little, tiny size in order to be beautiful. It’s like, we’re beautiful not because of what size we are, we’re beautiful because of how your mind works and you’re beautiful because you have this gorgeous heart and that comes from way more than you fitting in some size two dress. And we’re beautiful because of all these things that come up and tumble out of us and that’s beautiful because I just always feel like I love being a woman. I really love it.

Then there’s the other side of being body consciousness, age consciousness, which I think is another one ridiculously pressed upon women, whereas men can become old, refined and gray and they are suddenly so handsome. But a woman becomes gray and she’s old and that’s so not true.

What I’ve noticed is that I find almost an obsession with older women because there’s like a confidence level there I really look forward to achieving.

On how her body has changed after she had her son
I think that it’s changed in so many ways. I was thinking about this the other day; we were just saying that your body does things that it would have never done before. It’s a miracle and incredible; bones and structures of your body move to new places! It’s like how?

Then I also breastfed; I don’t know if it’s a total myth but when you breast feed you kind of lose weight quicker.

On breastfeeding
I loved it. Well, there were a couple of things no one told you. I took this whole class too which I thought was really good because I think a lot of people think you’re just supposed to have this natural instinct that’s suppose to happen out of thin air. There’s a technique to learn and if you don’t know it, it’s not your fault. I was glad I did that because I felt kind of prepared a little bit. The whole engorgement thing, no one mentioned that part.

I remember I was in the bed and I couldn’t move because it hurts and there is no way around it. I delivered naturally and I kept asking myself, “What is wrong with you”? You spent hours and hours in labor and delivered naturally but you can’t take some [milk coming in.] They skipped that part; they didn’t tell me about that one.

On how she chose her son’s name Egypt
Well, Egypt was a really big important trip for me in my life. It came at a certain point where I had been working just endlessly and I really had no idea what it was to take a true vacation and it came to a place where I just really needed it or be on the verge of a break down. So when I went, it was such an uplifting, eye opening, historic, powerful and re-genitive experience that I hold a very fond place for Egypt. So when it came to naming our baby, I fell in love with it, we both loved it and decided like months before he was born.

On her decision to go to Egypt alone

At that time I just wanted to get away so badly that I was excited to be by myself. I think it’s something important because I think when you go places with people, you’re concerned about if they are having a good time or do they like the food I like or are they happy with this restaurant?

I would read my book in the little café that I went and the guy would come up to me and be like, “Are you waiting for someone?” and I’m like, “No, we’re here.” It was really liberating.

On her favorite position [random question]
Any and all sex positions. I happen to be a traditional kind of girl. I’m also experimental; we can have fun.

What would you tell your 14-year-old self?
Reel it in. Come back. Don’t go so fast. Honestly, you don’t want to get there that fast. You think you want to get there that fast; you do, we all do but you don’t because once you’re there you’re like, “Damn, now I got to be here and I can’t be back here.”

Interesting show indeed.....no mad at being extra open with your husband. *snaps*

Jada Pinkett Smith COVERS "IO DONNA" May 2012 ISSUE + Jaden Smith's "Give It To Em' Video

Posted: 14 May 2012 11:02 AM PDT

The fabulous Jada Pinkett Smith covers the latest issue of the french magazine IO DONNA Magazine. Come inside and see what she said about having famous kids and her marriage to Will.  Also, see Jaden's new video for "Give It To Em.'

In the latest issue of IO DONNA Magazine, Jada Pinkett Smith comments on her unconventional way of parenting star kids Willow and Jaden.  And she reaffirms that she and Will are very happy and will always be together.  Here are the highlights:

On what Willow and Jaden are busy with right now:
"Jaden is going to Philadelphia with his father for 'After Earth', directed by M. Night Shyamalan. Willow continues to sing. After 'Whip My Hair' and 'Fireball' she has two new albums out and a movie we're producing ourselves. We are actually preparing for her remake of the musical 'Annie'."

On what she's got going in the near future:
"I can not wait to go to Cannes! I've always had great fun at the festival. For the rest I do not know what I will do in the coming months, my schedule does not go further than two weeks ... In this period it was hard to split my time between the project of 'Annie', the work of Will, to my brother Caleb and James Lassiter - our production team - and the family routine. It is a continuous race ... he who hesitates is lost."

On if her kids decide to take a path away from the public eye:
"Sure, they are very young. Willow could one day decide not to have anything to do with the entertainment world. And the same thing could happen to Jaden. At that point, however, both will be able to get what they want."

On rumors that she and Will are having marital issues:
"For us nothing has changed: it is the same life as before. When Will is working on a project, I usually have to take care of the boys, but now he is with Jaden because they star in the same movie, and Willow is with me because I'm the producer of her albums and I follow her into the recording studio. Tonight I leave for Philadelphia, going to see Will and Jaden, kiss them, hug them and then return to Los Angeles."

Jada's heading to Cannes soon for the Film Festival and is promoting her upcoming movie Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted (June 8th).

In other Smith family news....

Jada's middle child, Jaden, released a video for "Give It To Em.' Watch it above.
