Radar: Cameron Diaz’s “joker face” is the result of Botox & chemical peels

Posted: 25 Jan 2012 08:40 AM PST

Cameron Diaz has been in Paris all week – go here and here to review our coverage of Camy's various costume changes. She's been all over the place during Paris Fashion Week, to the point where her appearances seem… I don't know… odd. Like, yesterday, she went to the Armani show, the Givenchy show, and the Chanel show. Before that, it was Dior and Versace, and some other ones thrown in. Look, Camy loves fashion, and God knows, it's probably a lot of fun to get free clothes and show up at runway shows. But I've got to wonder – doesn't Cameron have better things to do with her time?

Anyway, as we keep discussing, Cameron's face is looking different. CB thinks she definitely looks tweaked, and while I agree, I don't think Camy looks as horrible as she did when she was with Alex Rodriguez. That man did serious damage to Camy's girl-next-door, California-Girl beauty. Six months ago, Camy's face looked bloated, waxy and rough – but in the photos from Paris, I think she looks better. Now Radar is getting into the mix with what's going on with Cameron's face:

First her breasts and now her face? Since breaking up with baseball star Alex Rodriguez last year, Cameron Diaz seems to have gone out of her way to prove she is young, carefree and single! Cameron will be turning 40 in August, and RadarOnline.com has new photos that suggest she has gone to extremes to turn back the clock before her landmark birthday.

“There’s something about Cameron Diaz’s face that is very unusual,” celebrity plastic surgeon Dr. Anthony Youn, who has not worked with the star, told RadarOnline.com in an exclusive interview. “She looks like she’s preparing to take her costar Jim Carrey’s role in The Mask!”

As RadarOnline.com previously reported, it was less than a month ago when formerly flat chested Cameron’s suddenly voluptuous figure sparked speculation that she had gotten breast implants.

The Bad Teacher star showcased her startling new look at the 2012 Versace Spring/Summer show during Paris Fashion Week, where she gave Donatella Versace a run for her money in the fake stakes!

“Her forehead is excessively smooth, a possible consequence of overdone Botox injections. Her face also looks extremely shiny,” Dr. Youn went on to say about Cameron.

“Although I do not believe she’s had a facelift,” he explained. “Laser treatments or chemical peels could account for her smooth, shiny skin. I recommend that she get some mattifying gel as soon as possible to calm it down.”

It is not the first time that Diaz has had work done on her face. In 2006, she admitted to having a nose job but claimed it was for “medical purposes,” after she broke it in a surfing accident.

[From Radar]

That's the plastic surgeon's big, scandalous reveal? Camy had Botox and she's too shiny? Whatever. I guess I agree about the immovable forehead, and I doubt she had a facelift or an eye job. I think she was messing around with fillers last year with horrible results, and most of her "new look" is the result of "deflating" after the fillers.

Gabriel Aubry: The nanny tripped, I didn’t push her

Posted: 25 Jan 2012 08:05 AM PST

Yesterday we heard that Halle Berry’s ex, Gabriel Aubry, was being investigated for misdemeanor battery and child endangerment after an altercation with a nanny who works for both Halle and Gabriel. Apparently the nanny confronted Aubry over not bringing his nearly four year-old daughter, Nahla, to school. The argument then got heated, with the nanny telling police that Gabriel verbally abused her and then pushed her while she was holding Nahla. The nanny claims she almost fell and that she was slammed against the wall.

Opinions on this story were very polarized. Some people thought the nanny was on team Halle and was trying to malign Gabriel, which is supported by the nanny’s claims that Gabriel often called her a “spy” when she was at his house. Maybe she does have allegiances to Halle, but even if that’s the case it doesn’t rule out Aubry being abusive. Also, the nanny told the police the minor and unnecessary detail that Nahla had a rash that Gabriel refused to treat. Why would she tell them that unless she was throwing accusations out there trying to see what would stick? Plus, the nanny lost a restraining order bid she had against Gabriel. In the restraining order, she admits opening his apartment door with a key she had on January 18 just prior to the altercation and she makes no mention of knocking. On the other hand, we’ve heard for some time that Aubry has an explosive temper, and why would the nanny bother to take out a restraining order unless she was afraid of him? It’s not too farfetched to imagine him going off on an employee who overstepped her bounds and then pushing her out the door.

Well a new article in Radar has a “source” close to Gabriel who claims that he didn’t push the nanny and that she “tripped.”

However, Aubry is telling a very different version of events.

“Why in the world would Gabriel push the nanny causing her to fall while she was holding his daughter?" a source close to the situation asks. "Gabriel is fiercely protective of Nahla. The nanny tripped, and she fell while holding Nahla. Yes, Gabriel and the nanny were arguing, he felt like his parenting skills were under attack again. Gabriel can’t believe how out of control this situation has become. He is hopeful that criminal charges won’t be filed against him."

As RadarOnline.com previously reported, the nanny says that last Wednesday she went to pick Nahla up at school and she wasn’t there, so she went to Gabriel’s home.

“Gabriel and the nanny got into an argument because no one alerted her that Nahla didn’t go to school,” a source told RadarOnline.com.

The source went on to claim that Aubry allegedly verbally abused the nanny, before things took a turn for the physical.

“She picked up Nahla to leave and Gabriel yelled at her and shoved her out the door so hard that she hit the wall — while she had Nahla in her arms!” the source alleges, adding that the nanny claims the abuse is ongoing. The nanny filed a police report and Aubrey is now being investigated for misdemeanor battery and child endangerment.

[From Radar]

When someone issues a denial that starts with a question, it’s suspect to me. “Why would I do that?” is not the same as categorically saying “I didn’t do that,” although the source later claims that the nanny “tripped.”

Yesterday there was a court hearing in which Halle asked for an emergency “no contact” order for Gabriel and their daughter until the investigation into this incident was completed. TMZ reports that the judge left the custody arrangement “as is” and put off a ruling until the judge who has been handling this case returns from vacation. Radar has more information that “The Los Angeles Department of Children & Family Services is expected to interview Berry, Aubry, and the nanny in the next several days.”

Let’s pretend that none of these people are famous and that we only know their situation and nothing else about them. You have a couple who went through an acrimonious divorce and who both love their daughter. The mother doesn’t want the father to have contact with his daughter at all and has actively worked to limit their contact. A nanny who works for the mother claims that the father yells a lot, is verbally abusive towards her and pushed her twice out the door, once with his daughter in her hands. Barring our feelings on whether the guy is abusive, and whether this is emotionally damaging to his child, is it enough to deny him all contact with his daughter? It’s a hard accusation to prove, so probably not. I could see supervised visitation continuing indefinitely, though.

Gabriel and Nahla are shown on 1-13, 1-9, 1-6 and 12-28. Credit: WENN.com

Joan Rivers: “Chelsea Handler made it on her back f–king the president [of E!]“

Posted: 25 Jan 2012 08:04 AM PST

For a while now, I've felt like Joan Rivers is past her prime, and I think she's using cruelty and shtick in the place of relevancy and genuine comedy. But I recently watched her 2010 documentary Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work, and I came away from that documentary with a new respect for her. She doesn't really make me laugh, but I admire her longevity and her will to succeed and thrive. I might have to rethink some of the harsher things I've said and thought about Joanie, though. Because she's taking Chelsea Handler to task and I'm ready to cosign Joan one thousand percent.

Funny ladies Joan Rivers and Chelsea Handler are in a major feud — and it’s no joke!

Joan appeared on Howard Stern’s Sirius XM radio show on Tuesday morning with her daughter Melissa Rivers and RadarOnline.com has the video of her attack on her fellow E! Network comedian.

“Number one, the girl made it on her back f**king the president, we all know that, of the network. Number two, she’s fine, she’s ordinary. She’s not a genius,” Joan told Howard, referring to Chelsea’s past relationship with E! President Ted Harbert.

“She’s an ordinary girl that was f**king somebody high up in the industry and they gave her a break and she’s doing okay.”

Rewind to Chelsea’s appearance on Howard’s show the day before when the 36-year-old said, “Joan Rivers? What the f**k do I care about Joan Rivers? I don’t think about her ever.”

According to Joan, the discord began at a network event in which she claims Chelsea ignored her efforts to say hello and was outright rude — but Chelsea claims it’s Joan who started it.

“Joan Rivers gets up and she’s like, I’d like to thank Chelsea Handler for giving me a career in comedy (mock laughing), and congratulations on your stage Chelsea because I don’t even have a dressing room,” Chelsea explained to Howard. “And I’m like, f**k off!”

Joan, 78, slammed back saying, “Who the f**k do you think you are? Whatever she is, she’s a drunk. I don’t wish her good luck, I don’t wish her bad luck,” Joan said. “I don’t think she’s particularly funny. But don’t you come after me, you wh*re!”

[From Radar]

Team Joan. Joan is the truth-teller in this situation. Plus, I think Chelsea took Joan's "I don’t even have a dressing room" comment personally, when Joan likely meant it as a cut on E!, right? Whatever. Most female comedians pay homage to Joan for her decades of glass-ceiling-breaking, and it says something about Chelsea that she can't even feign respect.

Demi Moore was rushed to the hospital for “substance abuse” issues

Posted: 25 Jan 2012 08:03 AM PST

I’d like to express some surprise at this story, but that would be a disingenuous tactic even though I, like many of you along with Kaiser and CB as well, would love to see Demi rise from the ashes of her divorce like a gloriously unaffected phoenix. However and instead of taking Kaiser’s suggestion to fire her publicist and position herself differently after shedding the douche that is her ex-husband Ashton Kutcher, Demi has eagerly taken up a “party girl” reputation. She’s been boning random young singer and model types. She’s gone in for some post-split tweaking. And she’s rambled on about how she believes that she’s not worthy of being loved.

Then, there’s the somewhat sympathetic portrait of Demi as a woman who is drowning her sorrows in alcohol. Last October, In Touch printed a story that Demi has a drinking problem and is a complete mess. Then in December, Demi’s alleged AA sponsor passed away, and her friends reportedly worried that she’d start boozing again. Well, those worries are apparently not unfounded, for TMZ is now reporting that Demi was taken to hospital late Monday evening for “substance abuse” issues:

Demi Moore was rushed to the hospital last night … and we’re told the issue is substance abuse.

Law enforcement tells us a 911 call was placed at 10:45 PM Monday night. Paramedics responded to Demi’s L.A. home and after assessing her for a half hour, she was transported to a local hospital.

Sources tell us she is being placed in a facility to “seek further professional assistance.” Our sources say the treatment is for substance abuse.

Demi’s rep tells TMZ, “Because of the stresses in her life right now, Demi has chosen to seek professional assistance to treat her exhaustion and improve her overall health. She looks forward to getting well and is grateful for the support of her family and friends.”

[From TMZ]

So if Demi has now been placed in a facility, does that mean she’s in rehab, or is her rep truly going to go with the “exhaustion” excuse? They really should ban that word in publicist circles because no one ever buys it. As for Demi, I hope she gets it together soon not only for her sake but for her daughters as well. She’s not the first woman to go through a terrible split with a cheating douchebag, and she won’t be the last.

Life & Style: Brad Pitt is concerned Shiloh will be bullied for her short haircut

Posted: 25 Jan 2012 08:01 AM PST

I don't even know. Life & Style has a sketchy history with their cover stories about Angelina Jolie and Shiloh. It began in 2010, when Shiloh got her little bob haircut and everyone freaked out because bob haircuts = lesbianism, obviously. And God knows, little girls should ONLY have long hair. There was significant backlash against Life & Style for basically declaring that Shiloh was a lesbian (because of her hair), but that didn't stop the tabloid from running several more covers in the same vein, meaning that Shiloh has been "manipulated" into her tomboy lifestyle by her EVIL, horrible mother, Angelina. And now this – photos came out a few days ago of Angelina and the kids at the Farmer's Market – see them here. Shiloh was working a new, shorter haircut. Which, obviously, is the direct result of Angelina's awful parenting, which has obviously caused Shiloh's lesbianism. Of course.

Shiloh shows no signs of changing her obsession with being a little boy and while Angeline thinks it's great, is Brad worried about bullying?

Shiloh Jolie-Pitt showed off the cut while out with her siblings and mother, Angelina Jolie, on January 22. In the August issue of Vanity Fair, Angelina explains the short style, saying, "She wants to be a boy. So we had to cut her hair. She likes to wear boys' everything. She thinks she's one of the brothers."

While Angelina seems all for the look, Life & Style reports that sources say Brad Pitt is concerned that other children will tease Shiloh. Poor Brad, it must be so hard for a parent to have to be concerned about his child being bullied!

[From Hollywood Life]

Yes, Brad is so concerned! He's the good parent, you see. And when he finally leaves Angelina, he'll bring Shiloh to Jennifer Aniston, and Aniston will magically convince Shiloh to wear her hair longer, and instantly, Shiloh will no longer be a lesbian! HUZZAH.

Seriously, though – LEAVE SHAX ALONE. She's doing her own thing, Montenegro Style. The kid has an excess of personality, which speaks to her parents creating an environment in which their kids' individuality can flourish.

Blake Lively’s questionable casting in Soderbergh’s new film causes studio to back out

Posted: 25 Jan 2012 07:28 AM PST

OH NOES. The girl with the golden PR moves has fumbled! Several weeks ago, the casting rumor mill went into overdrive and there were major claims that Blake Lively had scored a lead role in Steven Soderbergh's latest film, The Side Effects. Blake was alleged cast as a woman struggling with addiction, torn between her veteran husband (Channing Tatum) and her shrink (Jude Law). It was a juicy, meaty role, and Blake would have been required to do some heavy lifting, acting-wise. The speculation about the casting caused consternation – why Blake? Why Steven Soderbergh? WHY? Well, things just got more complicated. As it turns out, the film studio producing The Side Effects, Annapurna, has just dropped out, and rumor has it they dropped out because of Blake's alleged casting. What makes it even worse is that now it seems like Blake's casting is back to just being a "rumor" not a fact.

Call it a troubling side effect of the proliferation of casting rumors. According to Variety, film studio Annapurna has dropped out of its commitment to finance Oscar-winning director Steven Soderbergh’s upcoming psychodrama thriller, “Side Effects.” According to the Playlist, the studio balked at Soderbergh’s rumored casting of Blake Lively as a pill-addicted woman at the center of a love triangle between her doctor and ex-con husband. The two men, according to recent reports, will be played by Jude Law and Channing Tatum, respectively.

The film is still set to be distributed by Open Road Films, but will need to find new cash for production; Variety reports that it should be able to do so at Sundance.

Both Law (“Contagion”) and Tatum (“Magic Mike,” “Haywire”) have worked with Soderbergh before, but this would be Lively’s first time with the director. Then again, as producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura told The Huffington Post this week while talking about his new film “Man on a Ledge,” the casting was just a rumor — and, as is now evident — rumors can often hurt a film in pre-production.

“We don’t have any cast set yet. We’re definitely very interested in those actors, but there’s nobody set,” he said. “It’s a little frustrating because it can often spoil the process a little bit. When things become public in general, they’re harder to manage. As a producer it becomes more complicated. A lot of the rumors are false and people are disappointed when you actually hire the person you wanted. It’s a little problematic, it’s something you have to live with.”

Variety reports that Annapurna dropped out of the film Friday, days before di Bonaventura denied the concrete casting, making clear the tangible effect on production that can be wrought by the rumor mill. That the casting rumors started weeks ago, without a public correction, is less an accident than a now-damaging concession to the web’s insatiable appetite.

“I used to try to correct it all the time, but no one cares when you try to correct it in my experience,” the producer said. “Whatever the better story is, I guess if the correction is the better story, they’ll go with that, but if they like the rumor better than your correction, they’re going to stick with it.”

Soderbergh has always made sure to make films his own way, and Lively would be one of his less off-kilter leading lady choices. She is an accomplished screen actor, with a starring role in “Gossip Girl” and supporting parts in dramas like “The Town,” while the director has cast porn star Sasha Grey in an art film, and his current film, “Haywire,” stars Gina Carano, a former MMA star.

He’s also not afraid to pull out of projects. Soderbergh spent years developing Brad Pitt’s “Moneyball,” only to walk away when that film was not heading in his preferred direction.

“If I can’t do a film the way I want to do it, then I don’t want to do it," he recently told the Star Ledger. “On ‘Moneyball,’ the way I wanted to tell the story was very unorthodox. It was very carefully planned out, but it required a real leap of faith on the part of Brad and the part of the studio. And, you know, in the end, it’s their money and it's their call.”

[From HuffPo]

That's pretty rough for Blake – she can't headline a film without it causing major financial difficulties and controversies. Does this mean the film will be recast in total? Does it mean that only the lead role will be recast? Does it mean that although Blake's PR game is spectacular, she still can't headline a film in the eyes of Hollywood producers and studios? Considering I – and nearly everyone else – balked at the idea of Blake headlining a Steven Soderbergh film, I'd say it's just that people don't buy her as a lead actress in films yet. They're content to let her play "the girl" in big-budget films, but she doesn't get to headline yet.

LeAnn Rimes is still trying to make her failing music career happen

Posted: 25 Jan 2012 07:00 AM PST

Here are some photos of everybody's favorite Falcor, LeAnn Rimes, at LAX yesterday. Is this the way you dress for a flight? Thigh-high stockings and a miniskirt? Apparently, LeAnn was flying to Nashville – this is according to her Twitter account, where she tweeted, "I could not have made a better record at this time in my life. It's like making a film. I'm proud…SO, headed off to Nashville to a HUGE meeting with my label to play them the whole new record LIVE. SUPER excited cause it ROCKS. #proud". So, she's recorded ANOTHER album? Didn't her last album just come out a few months ago? Didn't it bomb? Wasn't there a rumor that her label was probably going to drop her? Why is LeAnn still trying to make her music career happen? So many questions.

Meanwhile, a prediction by AstroChicks, an online astrology site, is making a surprising amount of headlines. Their psychic claims that 2012 is the year that LeAnn will get pregnant, perhaps to keep Gemini Eddie Cibrian interested and engaged – you can read the full prediction here. You know what I hate? I hate that LeAnn and I share a sign – we're both Virgos. LeAnn gives Virgos a bad name. Yes, we're OCD and kind of crazy and anal retentive, but we're not ALL batsh-t insane. In any case, I kind of hope that LeAnn does get pregnant this year. It would give her something else to obsess over.

Cynthia Nixon: “Everybody likes to dump on the bisexuals”

Posted: 25 Jan 2012 06:10 AM PST

Yesterday there was a lot of debate over comments that Cynthia Nixon made to the NY Times in which she asserted that it was her “choice” to be gay. Many gay people find those remarks potentially damaging to the gay community, as they can be misused to make the claim that all gay people “chose” to be with same sex partners. Well Cynthia did make the distinction that her comments only applied to her situation, and I thought she made a good case. She said, in part, “they said [the remarks in a speech I made imply] that homosexuality can be a choice. And for me, it is a choice. I understand that for many people it's not, but for me it's a choice, and you don't get to define my gayness for me.” Fair enough, but a lot of people wonder why Cynthia doesn’t self identify as bisexual if she feels that it’s her “choice” to be with a woman instead of a man. In an interview with The Daily Beast, Cynthia kind-of explains that.

You've been quoted as saying about these two relationships in your life: "In terms of sexual orientation, I don't really feel I've changed … I've been with men all my life and I'd never fallen in love with a woman. But when I did, it didn't seem so strange. I'm just a woman in love with another woman." I'm a bit confused. Were you a lesbian in a heterosexual relationship? Or are you now a heterosexual in a lesbian relationship? That quote seemed like you were fudging a bit.
It's so not fudging. It's so not. I think for gay people who feel 100 percent gay, it doesn't make any sense. And for straight people who feel 100 percent straight, it doesn't make any sense. I don't pull out the "bisexual" word because nobody likes the bisexuals. Everybody likes to dump on the bisexuals.
But it is the "B" in LGBT.

CN: I know. But we get no respect

You just said "we," so you must self-identify as one.
I just don't like to pull out that word. But I do completely feel that when I was in relationships with men, I was in love and in lust with those men. And then I met Christine and I fell in love and lust with her. I am completely the same person and I was not walking around in some kind of fog. I just responded to the people in front of me the way I truly felt…

Look, I understand for political reasons why some people want to kind of squelch this idea that being gay might be a choice, because a lot of the rights we want are posited on the supposition that why are you denying me my rights any more than if I were created a different color? But I don't feel the need to cede the definition of what a gay person is to the bigots. They don't get to define who I am.

[From The Daily Beast]

I like that she’s asserting that she can call herself gay if she wants, and that no one else can tell her who she is. I also get how this can really piss off gay people, because it can be a hard fight for some people to be accepted for how they know they were born. It seems sad that being bisexual is still a dirty word today, especially for men. I wish there was greater acceptance that our sexuality is on a continuum and that there are people in the middle. It was refreshing when Anna Paquin came out as bisexual, because it was just so rare to hear.

Cynthia is also bald as a badger (I’ve never heard that phrase before, but google suggested it and I thought it was cute.) She’s starring as a cancer victim in the play Wit. Instead of just wearing a skull cap, Cynthia really did shave off all her hair. She told The Daily Beast that she doesn’t like her new look. “I think I look like Ralph Fiennes as Lord Voldemort. Or maybe Nosferatu.” Cynthia is a breast cancer survivor after being diagnosed with early stage cancer almost five years ago. She seems to have beaten it with a lumpectomy and she still takes Tamoxifen.

Sam Taylor-Wood, 44, and Aaron Johnson, 21, welcome 2nd daughter, Romy Hero

Posted: 25 Jan 2012 06:09 AM PST

British photographer and director Sam Taylor-Wood fell in love when she was 43 years old. Heartwarming – except that she fell in love with an 18-year-old kid. The kid in question is Aaron Johnson, and they are still together, three years later. Shortly after they met and worked together, Sam got knocked up, and she and Aaron got engaged – they still haven't gotten married, but in 2010, they welcomed a baby girl named Wylda Rae to their family. It's a family which includes a teenage daughter and a 5-year-old daughter from Sam's previous relationship. Anyway, last May, Sam announced that she and Aaron were expecting their second child together – and she's apparently just given birth. It's another girl!

Artist/director Sam Taylor-Wood and fiancé Aaron Johnson have become parents again to a baby girl. The new arrival – whose name has not been revealed – was born this month, joining big sister Wylda Rae, 18 months.

The birth means Nowhere Boy star Johnson is now outnumbered in a house full of females, along with Taylor-Wood’s two older daughters Anjelica, 14, and Jessie, five, from her previous marriage to art dealer Jay Jopling.

Acclaimed artist Taylor-Wood’s fourth pregnancy was confirmed by her representative last July. The arrival of her fourth child comes just a month after the heavily pregnant star accepted her OBE from Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace.

Taylor-Wood, 44, and Johnson, 21, fell in love on the set of Nowhere Boy in 2009 and announced their engagement in October that year after just a few months of dating. The artist made her directorial debut with the John Lennon biopic, which starred Johnson as the young Beatle.

Their relationship raised eyebrows due to their 23 year age gap and the fact that Johnson was just 19 at the time. They started dating less than a year after Taylor-Wood and ex-husband Jopling, 48, separated after 11 years of marriage.

In an interview last year, Taylor-Wood admitted she had been persuaded to start a second family with Johnson by the actor himself. She said: ‘Aaron, almost before anything started between us, said he wanted kids. He was very clear about wanting a family. We hardly go out now – it’s just us. Aaron has brought a set of values I didn’t even know I was looking for – family values. He is more grounded. He has been getting work offers which he has turned down because he wants to be here for the crucial first months of Wylda’s life.’

Taylor-Wood also attacked the media for concentrating on relationships between younger men and older women, who have been labelled ‘cougars’.

She said: ‘In the old days, “controversial” in a relationship meant same-sex or mixed races. Now, it is a woman with a younger man. That would not happen with a man.’

And Johnson has also defended their relationship: ‘I'm an old soul and she's a young soul. We don't see an age gap, we just see each other.’

[From The Mail]

Well… congratulations. I'm glad that Sam's pregnancy was happy and healthy, and that their second baby was born without complications. I'm also happy to see that Aaron is sticking with Sam for going on 3 years now. Go ahead and call me sexist, but I still wonder if this is going to last in the long run. I mean – he's only 21! And he's now a father of two girls, and stepfather of two girls. AND HE'S ONLY 21. And his fiancée is 44. I still think that if the genders were reversed, people would still have huge problems with this – it's specific to a 40-something person attaching themselves to a teenager. It's like Courtney Stodden and her father/husband. It's creepy.

UPDATE: And we have a name! Aaron and Sam named their daughter Romy Hero. I don’t get it.

Oscar-winning director Tom Hooper just dumped his pregnant girlfriend

Posted: 25 Jan 2012 05:41 AM PST

I vaguely know who Tara Subkoff is. She was one of the founding designers with Imitation of Christ, she's BFFs with Chloe Sevigny, and she used to date Jimmy Fallon back in the day. I had no idea that Tara had been dating Tom Hooper, the British director who won the Oscar for The King's Speech last year, for more than a year. But they were together. And now it's over. And it's a MESS. Tara is pregnant, you see. And her version of events has Tom Hooper dumping her literally MINUTES after she told him she was pregnant. His version is different, but it's still pretty rough:

Oscar-winning director Tom Hooper has called off his engagement to fashion designer Tara Subkoff, who's just told friends and Hooper that she's a few months pregnant with his child, according to sources.

The pair were quietly engaged in Paris in May after meeting around the Golden Globes in January last year.

"They had just celebrated their one-year anniversary," said a source close to the couple.

But "The King's Speech" director last weekend broke off their relationship and left New York for London, as Subkoff suspected she was pregnant.

Sources close to Subkoff say the couple had been trying for a baby for months, and, "She took several home pregnancy tests," after he left for London. Now "Imitation" creator Subkoff is telling friends a doctor has confirmed her pregnancy and she is "distraught" about the end of their relationship.

However, a source close to Hooper confirms he broke off their engagement, but insists he had no idea she was expecting until Subkoff left him a voice mail yesterday.

"He broke up with her on Friday, and the last time they spoke was Saturday. He did not know she was pregnant — there was no discussion of her being pregnant," the source said. "Then he got this voice mail [yesterday] from Tara saying she's pregnant. He doesn't know what to do."

The source explained the pair had broken up a few times and their relationship had recently been rocky. And Hooper "just wasn't ready to get married. He's married to his career. He's just going into production on a huge film. He's under a tremendous amount of pressure. The timing of this could not be more difficult."

But the source added, "Tom still adores Tara, and obviously he'll do the right thing by her."

Hooper will begin production on "Les Miserables" — starring Russell Crowe, Hugh Jackman and Anne Hathaway —on Feb. 6. Reps for Hooper and Subkoff had no comment.

If this story was about two B-list (or even C-list) actors, it would be getting major play. But I guess people don't care about British directors and their pregnant fashion designer girlfriends? Prove them wrong! Care about this, because it's a really scandalous gossip story. Do you believe Tom's side of things, that he dumped her without knowing about her pregnancy? Or was Tara trying to "trap" him into a commitment by getting knocked up? I think the crux of the scandal is in the timing – she finds out she's pregnant and he dumps her, all within a 24-hour-period. Sketchy!
