Hugh Jackman & The Kids Hit The Beach Down Under

When last we saw photos of Hugh Jackman out and about with his children Oscar Maximilian and Ava Eliot the threesome were picking up last minute Xmas supplies (including an artificial Xmas tree) ahead of the big day yesterday. Today we get to see new photos of Hugh and the kids as they frolicked and played at Mornington Beach down under in Australia this weekend.


While it is always nice to see any photos of Hugh Jackman, I can’t help but be a bit bummed by the fact that Hugh is FULLY DRESSED! Hello, what’s the point of going to the beach if Hugh is going to keep his shirt on??? Dang. I mean, yeah, it looks like Hugh had a great time playing with his children in and near the water but couldn’t he have just as much fun while wearing a lot less clothing? Sheesh. Ah well … at least we know that Hugh knows where the beach is … which means he may visit again soon … and depending on the weather, he might be a lot less dressed next time. Fingers and toes, fingers and toes :)

Movie Review: ‘Rare Exports’

The rain returned last night but, thankfully, it wasn’t a torrential downpour … and it didn’t last very long. After a nice quiet day together, David and I decided to take in a movie to end our lovely Xmas Day. A couple of months ago we saw a trailer for a Finnish film called Rare Exports that looked interesting. It tells the tale of the discovery of an evil, child-killing Santa Claus … which seemed like the perfect Xmas Day film.


The thing I loved most about the film was the inventiveness of the story. While there were a few things about the plot that I would’ve liked fleshed out a bit more, the overall film was really entertaining. Did you know that Santa Claus is not actually a jolly ol’ elf who likes to deliver toys to all the good little boys and girls around the world? Well, according to Rare Exports … it’s true … he’s actually a hulking creature that has been buried for centuries and threatens to take his wrath on the children of the world should he ever be freed. I wouldn’t call the film a horror movie … but I wouldn’t call it a comedy either. It’s … an interesting film, that’s for sure. It is deffo worth checking out if you’re interested in seeing Santa painted in a different light. We quite enjoyed the film.

No big plans for today … it looks like it’s gonna be a very quite Boxing Day here at the homestead.

Enfianced Prince William & Kate Middleton Spend Xmas Apart

Despite the fact that Prince William of Wales and his fiancée Kate Middleton will be married in just about 4 short months, the couple was forced to spend Xmas apart this year! Oh no!! It turns out that Prince William was called to service by the Royal Air Force and had to work yesterday on Xmas Day. As a result, Kate had to spend her holiday with her commoner family … sheesh.

It was their first Christmas as a betrothed couple – but Prince William and Kate Middleton did not spend it together. Kate was with her family in Berkshire, while William volunteered to be on call with his search-and-rescue squadron at RAF Valley on Anglesey. It will probably be the last Christmas Kate will spend with mother Carole and father Michael – as next year she will be expected to be with the Royal Family. The Archbishop of Canterbury yesterday held up their wedding as a symbol of hope. In his Christmas sermon, he said: 'It is certainly cause for celebration that any couple, let alone this particular couple, should want to embark on the adventure of Christian marriage. 'In this coming year, we, as a society, might want to think through, carefully and imaginatively, why lifelong faithfulness and the mutual surrender of selfishness are such great gifts.' William does not appear to have been called out on any rescue calls yesterday. It is traditional for unmarried forces personnel to work over Christmas so that others can be with their families.

Aww … well, as sad as it may seem that Wills and Kate couldn’t spend their only Xmas as an engaged couple together, it does make sense that Kate would want to spend one last Xmas with her family before she becomes a princess (and therefore obligated, first, to spend holidays with the British Royal Family). I hope she enjoyed her Middleton family time … cuz, very soon, she is not going to get much time with them as the new Princess of Wales.

Merry Xmas From Kylie Minogue

Aussie pop queen Kylie Minogue posted a cute video message on her official website this weekend wherein she sends Merry Xmas wishes to all her devoted fans around the world. Additionally, Kylie recorded her own version of the classic Xmas song Let It Snow (which she performed in NYC earlier this month at the lighting of the Xmas tree at Rockefeller Center) and released a music video of sorts for the tune.


What is most enlightening about this Xmas video message is the news that Kylie will begin full-on rehearsals for her upcoming Les Folies Tour 2011 after January 1. As you may recall, Kylie announced in October that she WILL be bringing her next world tour to North America for a few dates … which is very, very exciting :) And so … here is Kylie‘s Xmas 2010 video message:

Lindsay Lohan Launches An Official Website

Lindsay Lohan, who got herself into a bit of trouble for a few days before she suddenly got OUT of trubs, has launched her very own official website. Until now, Lindsay‘s only online presence was via Twitter, via official website for her Sevin Nyne clothing line and the occasional Facebook account (which usually got lost in a sea of fake accounts) … but now, Lindsay‘s got a .com of her very own.


Altho LindsayLohan.com has gone online … there isn’t anything at all to see. The site takes an inordinately long time to load a flash animation that reads “Lindsay Lohan – Coming Soon”. To be honest, the photo used on the site isn’t a very good one and, well, thus far LindsayLohan.com is kinda disappointing. I don’t get why the site had to go online without anything at all to make it look interesting. It remains to be seen what kin of information will be made available on the site … will it serve as a blog mouthpiece for Lindsay to address her fans and detractors alike? Will it be a news site meant to announce new projects on the Lohan horizon? Might it be a launching pad for another clothing line? I guess we’ll have to wait and see what Lindsay has in store for this new site but … man, I hope it’s worth waiting for.

Hugh Hefner Is Gettin’ Hitched

It was a Happy Xmas for Playboy mogul Hugh Hefner and his 24 year old girlfriend Crystal Harris … because the couple got themselves engaged to be married yesterday on Xmas day!! Hugh casually broke the news of the couple’s engagement on his official Twitter profile when he tweeted about the ring that he gave to Crystal on the “happiest Christmas weekend in memory”.

Hugh Hefner rang in the holidays with an engagement ring. The Playboy founder is engaged to girlfriend Crystal Harris, 24, he announced on Twitter … This will be the third marriage for Hefner. In 2009 he filed for divorce from his second wife, former Playmate Kimberly Conrad, after the two separated in 1998. He was previously married to Mildred Williams; their marriage ended in divorced in 1959. Harris was December 2009′s Playboy Playmate.

Here is the full text of Hugh‘s tweet messages posted online last night:

After the movie tonight, Crystal & I exchanged gifts. I gave Crystal a ring. A truly memorable Christmas Eve. / When I gave Crystal the ring, she burst into tears. This is the happiest Christmas weekend in memory. / I got what I was hoping for for Christmas … Crystal’s love. / Yes, the ring I gave Crystal is an engagement ring. I didn’t mean to make a mystery out of it. A very merry Christmas to all.

And there you have it, just like that … the world’s most famous playboy is off the market. I had always thought that Hugh would end up getting engaged and then married to his ex-longtime girlfriend Holly Madison. When those two broke up, I was certain that Hugh Hefner would live out the rest of his days as a single bachelor … guess I was wrong. Despite the 60 years age difference, I’m sure that Hugh and Crystal have enough in common for the couple to have a very happy marriage together … right? Let’s send our heartiest congratulations to the happy couple!
