Star Of MTV's "16 And Pregnant" Show Has Abortion On Show And Creates Furor!

Posted: 28 Dec 2010 08:43 AM PST

Markai Durham, a star of MTV's popular show "16 And Pregnant" recently discovered she was expecting a second child...but this time, she plans to terminate the pregnancy.  And people ARE NOT happy about it.  Get the deets on her decision and the fury it's causing inside...

MTV's reality show "16 And Pregnant" has been accused of glamorizing teen pregnancy as several of it's stars have graced the pages of PEOPLE, US WEEKLY and other glossy mags.  Rarely is there a black female featured on the show.  So Markai's situation stands out even more. And this time...folks are saying they crossed the line.

Though the show has yet to air (it will premiere tonight on MTV), one of the teen moms, Markai Durham, discovers she is pregnant a second time but decides not the have the baby.  And of course this set off a firestorm of controversy.

On the show, Markai, who first appeared on last month's episode, discovers she is expecting again.  And her decision to terminate the pregnancy on this episode called "No Easy Decision" has all the pro-lifers up in arms.  And after reading her quotes, it could possibly have pro-choicers cringing as well.

MTV has forbidden 19-year-old Markai from giving interviews, still she says on her own social media postings,

"I get sad from time to time thinking about it but then everything happens for a reason.  God gave me 3 paths to take abortion, adoption, or raising this baby along with another.

"I chose this path and I think about how stressing things would have been if I haven't made the one I've made."

Markai already has a 2-year-old daughter, Za'karia, and is seeing a therapist for her issues.  She admits to using drugs in the past and sleeping with different men every other night.  But this last pregnancy was not expected.  She says she and her boyfriend used birth control but,

"I just never knew it ran out.  They give you a time limit to get the shot again. [It's] like days-days, so I thought I had time. I guess not."

It hasn't been easy for Markai since the show.  She is often attacked on her facebook page and throughout social media.  When asked how she arrived at her decision, she said:

"It was only an embryo, not a baby not a fetus when I was pregnant," she wrote online. "So that's what I believe now and I know one day God will give me that embryo that turns into a baby back to me once we're more better :)"

The show airs tonight on MTV.  Your thoughts?

NO SH*T SHERLOCK NEWS OF THE DAY: DMX Determined To Have Mental Health Issues, Moved To Mental Unit

Posted: 28 Dec 2010 08:19 AM PST

DMX has been moved out of prison and into a mental health unit. We've got the deets when you read on...

DMX is in prison serving a one year sentence after pleading guilty to violating his probation. The rapper has now been moved into Arizona's mental health unit. At his sentencing, the judge told DMX she believes he has bi-polar disorder.

No one from DMX's camp will confirm if he is bi-polar but his manager says she wasn't surprised when he was moved into the mental health unit. X has never commented on the rumors of his disorder.  He's has been incarcerated 13 times so I'm not sure why it took the 13th time to realize he has mental issues.  Should we be mad it took them this long to figure out the obvious?

50 Cent Is Hustlin' "Snow" For Money Again

Posted: 28 Dec 2010 06:16 AM PST

It's no secret that 50 Cent used to hustle "snow" and other street pharmaceuticals before he blew up in the rap game.  And yesterday he returned to his old ways with a different type of snow with the help of a few kids!

Find out how 50 is making the best of a bad blizzard up at the McMansion when you go inside....

Put some white powder in front of 50 Cent and he knows how to make a dollar.  The rapper recently took to his Twitter account to announce he and a few kids were willing to shovel the snow from your driveway...for a fee of course.  In his own way, he's teaching kids how to get on their business hustle.

He said on Twitter:

I'm going out to shovel snow and see if I can make me a few extra dollars today. I'm charging more if they want to take pictures

I want a hundred dollars per house. I bet anybody ill make a grand moving snow today.

I want a hundred dollars if your stuck. Ill get you out. Lol

So did it work?  Apparently.  50 soon booked four jobs...which was enough to hire employees:

I'm paying 30 dollars and hour I only want 3 workers that 90 dollars and hour but I think we can do all 4 in a hour in a half. Lol

this snow moving business is just to see if laws apply to every business. After the first job I got 4 more now I have 3 kid I hired.

One is a cute kid he has on a snow suit. So I'm sending him to ring the door bell to ask if we can shovel there snow. Lol

So how did he do?  I guess we have to wait till he logs back onto Twitter to find out if he made that $1,000.  But this does prove he's a smart business man and instead of complaining about your circumstances...you can make some hustler moves and turn a blizzard into a rainstorm...of money.

I ain't mad at you 50!

Eddie Murphy's Ex-Wife Blows Through $15 Milli In 4 Years And Is BROKE?!

Posted: 27 Dec 2010 02:47 PM PST

Word on the street...and at the banks...is that Eddie Murphy's ex wife, Nicole Murphy (who now dates Michael Strahan), has blown through the large divorce settlement she received. We've got the deets when you read on...

According to reports, yes it's the National Enquirer but something just sreams TRUE to us, Eddie Murphy's ex wife Nicole received a $15 million settlement from her divorce in 2006.  Not only did she spend all of her money, she owes the IRS $846,000 and was forced to put her mansion up for sale. When Nicole decided to divorce Eddie, she opted for the one time payment instead of monthly installments.  SMH.  Bad idea if you can't budget and plan.

And the IRS aren't the only people she owes money to.  Nicole also owes a law firm $600k, $60k to a landscaping firm, and owes $5 mill on her LA home. A friend of Nicole says that she's in financial trouble because of numerous bad investments she chose to make with her money.

Hmm...I wonder if she'll ask her boo Michael Strahan for some money? I hope she finds a come-up fast.

Could you blow through $15 million in 4 years?

Matt Denies Knowing Candy Deep Throat Prostitute, Talks "Basketball Wives" On The News With Gloria Govan

Posted: 27 Dec 2010 09:51 AM PST

After all the drama of Lakers baller Matt Barnes getting called out by a prostitute on Twitter named Candy Deep Throat, he now denies even knowing her.  His side of the story when you read on...

After this Candy chick went on Twitter talking reckless about how she is the reason Matt and Gloria Glovan's wedding was called off, Matt snapped back at her on the social networking site.  He soon after removed his tweets, of course.

And now, he's denying even knowing her and pretty much calls her an attention whore--through his publicist. His spokesperson Laura Wright sent YBF this statement in regards to the issue:

“Matt Barnes does not know this so-called prostitute named ‘Candy’. All her allegations are false. She is personally attacking Barnes to gain fame and popularity.”

Alrighty then.

BONUS: Matt and Gloria hit up KTLA news in L.A. right before Christmas to discuss "Basketball Wives". Glo spoke on how much she doesn't get along with the other girls (which still begs the question of why they continue to voluntarily sign on for this ish) and some big drama that's going to go down on the January 2nd episode. And Matt talked about his new clothing line and how he didn't want to do the show in the first place. Gloria also says "they're in no hurry to prove their love to anybody."

Ok Gloria.

Celebs React To Teena Marie's Death, Updates On What Really Happened

Posted: 27 Dec 2010 09:15 AM PST

The music world lost a shining star when Teena Marie, the Ivory Queen of Soul passed away suddenly at 54.  Read the updates surrounding her death, plus what other musicians and celebrities have to say about Lady T inside...

Many celebs took to their own pages and journalist Roland Martin's to express their condolences.

"I am horrified by the sudden death of my darling Teena Marie. She was my “baby,” always true to herself, always true to her heart. When I first auditioned her she was so awesome she blew me away. She had so much soul – the only thing white about her was her skin. She was a powerhouse performer, writer, producer and arranger. Anyone who ever saw her perform, alone or with Rick James, will never forget how exciting music can be. My heart goes out to her sweet, sweet daughter, Alia Rose, her family, friends and fans. Teena Marie will always be a part of the Motown family. We will all miss her."

-Berry Gordy, founder of Motown

“We’re shocked and deeply saddened by the sudden loss of Teena Marie. She was one of the most memorable, soulful and unique R&B vocalists to
come out of Motown. We send or condolences to Teena’s family, the entire Motown family and of course, our dear friend Berry Gordy.”

-Kenneth Gamble & Leon Huff, R&B pioneers

"God Bless Teena Marie & her family! Sending blessings & prayers. I was just saying that fire & desire is 1 of the most beautifully performed songs"

-Alicia Keys, singer

"Teena Marie always wonderful to me. I met her on the TJMS Cruise. Let us pray for her family. God bless her soul."

-Sheryl Underwood, comedienne

"R.I.P. TO ONE OF THE BEST VOICES OF MUSIC TEENA MARIE!!!!!!!"

-Swizz Beatz, producer

"Teena Marie was so souldul not just n voice but n spirit also resy n peace my sweet blue-eyed soul sister."

-Donnie Simpson, former host of BET's "Video Soul"

"She was an amazing, soulful person. She’s a phenomenon to me.  You have to say it. She had all of the street vibes and all of the R&B vocals...If there is a word called talent or talented, it was pouring out of her veins. She was an amazing phenomenon."

-Lionel Richie, singer/songwriter

"Teena was a fire and desire. She was everything. She was a special person. If you got a chance to know her – more than her voice – she was a kind person. She was a student of music. She was a gift to us from God, and being a Caucasian woman, the voice that came out of her had to be a gift. We’ll miss her and God rest her soul.”

- Kevin Liles, former vice chairman of Warner Music Group

“My heart is broken. Teena Marie was an R&B Empress, a music pioneer, a brilliant songwriter/ producer with the most original powerhouse vocals ever.  Nobody sang like Teena! But above all she was an exceptional human being, a humanitarian and an authentic friend who I will miss dearly. Rest With Angels Lady T.”

- Holly Robinson Peete, actress

"In terms of vocals, she was one of the blackest people I know. She was one of the great R&B performers of our time. She was a great person; just a nice person. And she loved to perform. She got along well with everyone; even the promoters love her. She is going to be sorely missed.
There a lot of black people who swore by her and believed in her, as far as her music was concerned.  She was a good mom, and to me, that is saying a lot.’’

-Eddie Levert, singer

“Teena was a black voice tapped in a white body.  I would always tell her that she was one of the greatest vocalists of our time.  I watched as she raised that child, and that’s very difficult being a single mother. She did an exemplary job with her child.”
-Cathy Hughes, founder of Radio One

"The enduring influence of Teena's inspirational, trailblazing career, could only have been made possible through her brilliant song-writing, showmanship and high energy passion which laid the ground work for the future generations of R&B, hip-hop, and soul,"

-Gene Rumsey, Concord Music Group chief label officer (Teena's last album Congo Square was released by Stax Records)

Born Mary Christine Brockert, Teena Marie was known as the Ivory Queen of Soul and one of the few white acts to shine on the predominately black Motown label.

Produced by her musical mentor Rick James, her debut album Wild And Peaceful dropped in 1979, but the album cover did not feature her photo.

In a past interview with Essence.com, Teena said of the album,

"(Motown founder Berry) Gordy) said that is was so soulful that he wanted to give the music an opportunity to stand on its own merit. Instead of my face, they put a seascape, so by the time my second album came out people were like, Lady T is White?"

Motown's initial feelings proved to be unfounded as Lady Tee went on to become one of R&B music's shining stars...loved by fans of all races and colors.

"Overall my race hasn't been a problem. I'm a Black artist with White skin. At the end of the day you have to sing what's in your own soul," Teena said.

Throughout her career Teena wrote, produced, arranged and played most of the instruments on all her songs, but she is widely known for "Fire and Desire," a torch ballad she performed with Rick James on his Streets Songs album.

In addition to her music, Teena leaves her mark on the industry thanks to a historical lawsuit she won against Motown in 1982.  "The Brockert Initiative", known in music circles as "The Teena Marie Law," makes it illegal for a record company to keep an artist under contract without releasing new material for that artist. Thanks to Lady T, artists are able to sign and be released to another label instead of being held back by an unsupportive one.

Radio Facts reports that Teena suffered from a Grand Mal seizure and had stopped taking her medication because it made her severely depressed. As of now, this is said to have caused her death.  TMZ reports illegal drugs were not found in her body, and an autopsy and toxicology tests will be performed on her body later this week.  So far, officials are reporting that she died of natural causes.

She is survived by her daughter Alia Rose
