WHAT BEEF? Talib Kweli Hits Back At Wifey Attack Rumors

We reported a few days ago the rumor that Talib Kweli got into an altercation with his wife at a party. Now we've got responses from the couple when you read on...

 

 

Talib Kweli and his wife, DJ Eque, got into a huge argument at Talib's album release party a while back.  Rumor has it Talib had a little too much to drink and said if it wasn't for Hennessy he wouldn't be married. Then Talib got too close with one female and pissed his wife off. Sources say the two began wrestling and broke a few glasses before security asked the couple to leave.

 

Here's Talib's response to the rumors:

"Although we argued none of the rest of it is true. I definitely did not did not say I would not have gotten married if it wasn’t for Hennessy. I wasn’t kicked out, the party had been over and the footage of what I actually said is on youtube…."

 

His wife also responded to the allegations:

"Who is making up all these crazy ass rumors? My husband did not hit me & I didn’t go into rage and attack him over flirting?? That’s crazy, Ppl need to check there facts before they start reblogging stuff!! Its time for joy and blessing, just stop with all the negative talk and energy….we all need to be more thankful”

 

Hmmm. I don't think it went down that smoothly at the party.  But if you say so....

Seems that our "veteran" rappers are finally fed-up with the state of today's hip hop music and they all vent on Eminem's new track "Syllables."  Come inside and hear the super collab featuring some of the biggest rappers of all time:  Dr. Dre, Jay-Z, 50 Cent and others...And as a bonus, watch Jay-Z's Charlie Rose interview.

 

On his latest single, Eminem attacks the state of youth driven hip hop consumerism saying:

“It is not about lyrics anymore. It’s about a hot beat and a catchy hook.”

Then Jay-Z and Dre both co-sign that they all have to “dumb down” their music for the kids who control the market. Then they all make fun of today’s hook-driven rap landscape on the song’s intentionally mind-numbingly hook:  “Shorty I love you/And you love me too/We were meant to be ’cause shorty you love me/And I love you too/And I promise I’ll be true to you.”

Marsha Ambrosius Debuts "Yes Indeed" During Special Teena Marie Tribute

On Monday night Marsha Ambrosius headlined an intimate show in London at the North
London venue Dingwalls where she shared a stunning cover version of Teena Marie's "Yes Indeed."  Watch the performance inside...

Marsha Ambrosius recently shared her remake "Yes Indeed" from the late Teena Marie's last Motown album, 1981's It Must Be Magic.  Marsha said this is her favorite Teena Marie song and the Ivory Queen of Soul herself gave her special approval for the remake.  Marsha hopes to share the song on her forthcoming album, Late Nights & Early Mornings, set for a Feb. 22, 2011 release.

Jennifer Hudson's Oprah Tribute At The Kennedy Center Honors

Last night the Kennedy Center Honors aired with Jennifer Hudson performing a special tribute of "I'm Here" from the Oprah Winfrey produced Broadway smash "The Color Purple."  Watch Jennifer's very special performance inside...

 

Last night CBS aired The 33rd annual Kennedy Center Honors highlighting the accomplishments of inductees  singer-songwriter Merle Haggard, composer Jerry Herman, choreographer Bill T. Jones, musician Paul McCartney and television host Oprah Winfrey.   

Before a power packed performance by Jennifer Hudson, Oprah spoke on the red carpet saying that the night was one of the best moments of her life, where she felt like everything finally came together.

Gilbert Arenas ABANDONS Pregnant Fiance' Laura Govan AND Their 3 Kids?!

Looks like that tumultuous on-again off-again relationship of 28-year-old Wizards tuned Magic baller Gilbert Arenas and the pregnant 31-year-old Laura Govan is on the outs again.  But this time, Gilbert abandoned both Laura and all the kids and even cut money off to them--all during the Holidays!

 

We've got the deets on this foolery when you read on...

Gilbert's known to do some foul ish and to treat Laura like trash on many occasions--many times publicly doing so.  But while Laura continues to take him back, she's gotten knocked up by him pretty much every year for the last 4 years.  The two attempted to act like they were tighter than a pregnant woman's bra straps after the whole Shaq and Laura cheating debacle popped off.  But now Gilbert has thrown deuces to his whole family.

After getting traded to the Orlando Magic weeks ago, Gilbert apparently picked up and left with even saying goodbye.  Almost like this dude was just waiting on an out to get away from Laura.  He left his mansion in VA and hit the road to Florida.  Laura's rep (now she's repped by the same person as her "Basketball Wives" star sister Gloria Govan and Matt Barnes) says Gilbert has not spoken to Laura or the kids since Thanksgiving and has been avoiding doing so.  And he has cut off all money to them.  Even though Laura is several months along in her fourth pregnancy.  The Washington Post reports:

Govan, who is four months pregnant with their fourth child, "has not heard from Arenas the whole month of December," said publicist Laura Wright in an e-mailed statement. "Govan and the children feel like they have been abandoned."

Wright - who has worked for Govan's sister Gloria and her fiance, Los Angeles Lakers forward Matt Barnes - said that Govan was left at their Great Falls home "with no money to purchase food or Christmas gifts."

 The breakup happened around Thanksgiving. Though he didn't reveal a relationship rift at the time, Arenas recently told reporters he had been staying with Wizards teammate Nick Young for about a month.

WOW.  But there's more.  After his first game witht he Magic a few days ago, Gilbert made it very public he was ditching his old life back in DC/VA. 

He told The Post after his Dec. 20 debut with the Magic that he was so eager to move that he bought a same-day ticket to Florida the minute he'd heard about the trade: "I went to the airport and left. I didn't have a chance to say bye to anybody. I didn't even say bye to the kids." (But Arenas also said that Washington would remain "in my heart" because "that's where I raised my kids and have my family.")

This isn't the first time Gilbert has done some foul ish like this.  But, at the same time, is Laura THIS desperate to be a "baller's wife" that she will remain an eternal fiance and keep popping out kids and not have any type of back up plan for money...despite the fact this is not the first time this has happened?  This ish is just pure foolery.

Nine months ago, President Obama pledged to stop smoking. The White House Press Secretary says that he hasn't witnessed the president smoking in nine months. President Obama said in March that he would quit smoking after a doctor advised that he should stop the habit. 

 

Great for him.

Source Confirms Rihanna & Matt Kemp's Split

Rihanna and Matt Kemp are dunzo.  They haven't been seen together for weeks, and now reliable sources close to the couple have confirmed today that they've gone their separate ways.  And it wasn't because of the rumored cheating Mr. Kemp was allegedly caught on tape doing.

Us Weekly reports that the once jet-setting PDA loving couple Matt Kemp and Rihanna are now on Splitsville Lane:

“It happened over the last few weeks,” an insider tells Us Weekly. “She basically was just over it. It was never as serious as it looked. It was always just [about] having fun,” says the source. The L.A. Dodgers outfielder also couldn’t “keep up with her crazy travel schedule” and just wants “something more normal,” added the source.  "Matt's sick of always following after her like a puppy dog all over the world. He wants something more normal," the source adds.

Several weeks ago a video surfaced of Matt and a friend leaving dinner with the paparazzi following their every move.  When a female fan ran up to him, viewers assumed he was cheating with her and "got caught."   Several friends and sources of Rihanna's say that was not the case at all and the female was simply a very young fan.  And also "not Matt's type."  The very young girl looked nothing more than a fan to us as well.  But rumors took off and people began to believe it as true.

According to the reliable sources, the two split weeks ago simply because of their demanding schedules.  Looks like Rih will be kissing her friends and fam as she rings in the new year in Vegas.

Foxy Brown Flakes On Diss Record And Party, Says She's Grieving + Tyler Perry's Home Gets Broken Into By Teens

Foxy Brown didn't come through on her Christmas "to do" list.  She was supposed to get it popping at a party in BK.  And she was supposed to get back at Lil' Kim.  Well to explain why nothing happened she took to twitter and announced that there was confusion with the venue location/party and it wasn't her fault.  And she apologized for not releasing a record saying something bigger was brewing.  Then she said she was grieving a "loss."  SMH.

Last Thursday, a young woman was captured after breaking into Tyler Perry's ATL crib.  Chloe Ware, 18, was charged with prowling and criminal trespass and released. Police are still looking for two people who were with her.  Tyler's body guard caught Chloe around 4 a.m. in the morn, but the two others escaped.  So she thought there were no guards up in that mug?  Silly rabbits....

The Harajuki Barbie graces the March/April issue of King magazine. She also talks about her aspirations to be a Hollywood actress.  Shocker. Here's some of the interview.

KING: History has shown that acting is the likeliest transition for rappers. Considering your background, do you want to dabble in Hollywood?

NICKI MINAJ: "Of course."

What would be your dream role?

NICKI: "I’d like to play someone in a Tim Burton movie, where I get dressed up and painted and crazy."

You kind of do that now.

NICKI: "Then I want to be able to do some action stuff, like Angelina Jolie."

Like in Salt?

NICKI: "Yes! And then I’d like to just play a regular girl who, you know, is facing the world. Something really sentimental and organic, that girls all around the world can identify with. You know, how Jada Pinkett Smith did in Jason’s Lyric."

Classic film. You did mention earlier how everything has been time consuming. But when that time frees up, what kind of guy do you look for to be sentimental and organic with?

NICKI: "Um, I look for someone who is calm, someone who is strong enough to not have to win every argument, someone who allows a woman to be her crazy self and someone with a conscience not to feel less of a man. You know, someone who is able to honor his woman but also bring out the freak in his woman."

How should your Ken bring out the freak in you, Barbie?

NICKI: "Just being super aggressive when the time is right."

Are we talking about Mortal Kombat–style “Come here” aggression?

NICKI: "Just something that makes me feel like they’re in control, when we are behind closed doors."
