Rick Ross & David Copperfield's AWKWARD Stage Moment + 2 Chainz Grabs #1 Spot On Billboard

Posted: 22 Aug 2012 09:41 AM PDT

Rick Ross hit the stage in Las Vegas last night, and voila....magic.  Check out Ricky bringing out the real David Copperfield while performing his song "Black Magic"...where he shouts out the famous magician.

Check out their awkward on stage meet-up, plus 2 Chainz grabbing that #1 spot....

As Ricky Rozay performed for the Reeboks Classics event, he decided to create some magic on the stage during his "Black Magic" song.  So instead of just saying one of the greatest magician's names in his song, he literally made him appear on stage.

David Copperfield tweeted:

“Working on my street cred. On stage last night with @TheRealSwizzz and @RickyRozay. Unreal. Poof!

David looked mad awkward...but it was hilarious to watch.  And is it just us....or was the crowd seeming not too sure on who this actually was?  Funny.  Check out the video above...

After 2 Chainz's debut studio album (under this name) Based on A T.R.U. Story dropped last week, he's since grabbed the #1 spot on the Billboard charts.  People love dumbed down verses over a good beat.  He sold only 147,000 units his first week, according to Nielsen Soundscan, and still came out on top.  Truuuuue.  Congrats.

He's currently on tour in the US and is also on the Rock The Bells line up.

BONUS:

Speaking of the rap game, Kanye West is summoning folks to Honolulu to help out on his album he's recording there.  And rapstress Azealia Banks tweeted that she's headed to Hawaii after getting that call from Mr. West.  This ought to be interesting...

The Randomness:

Jennifer Hudson GETS FLIRTY In Bedroom Gear On "Smash" Set

Posted: 22 Aug 2012 08:34 AM PDT

J-Hud upped her flirty factor as she stepped on the set of "Smash" yesterday in NYC....rocking pink & white sleepwear for her upcoming scenes.  Pics of the YBF chick inside...

In her white nightie and pink robe and pink moccasins, Jennifer Hudson dipped into her vintage-loving character as she shot a few scenes for her upcoming arc on NBC's hit show "Smash."  This is her second week of filming, so chick is working hard.  Her character is a Broadway star who has a message for the upcoming stars...like for Jenny's fellow "American Idol" alum Katherine McPhee...who is the star of "Smash."

The Weight Watchers spokeswoman played around with the paps before pulling a change up.  And Jenny is looking good while keeping up her 80 pound weight loss.

Cute.  The new season kicks off later this year.

Is Chris Brown's Mom Calling Rihanna A LIAR On Twitter? + Gabrielle Unions Condemns "Legitimate Rape" Comments + Wiz Khalifa Has Words For Album Cover Critics

Posted: 22 Aug 2012 08:03 AM PDT

Chris Brown's mom Joyce Hawkins has tweeted about someone not telling the truth...and folks think it's Rihanna!  Also, Gabrielle Union speaks on the "legitimate rape" controversy and Wiz Khalifa responds to O.N.I.F.C.'s cover art backlash.

Though she didn't call her by name, Chris Brown's mom, Joyce Hawkins, posted a few tweets soon after Rihanna's Oprah interview aired...and they weren't too nice.

Breezy's mom insinuates that someone is holding back and not sharing their full truth.

She then added,

BE POSITIVE IT CAN AND WILL HELP SOMEONE.

ANGELS YOU HAVE BEEN THERE NO MATTER WHAT. YOU ARE THE TRUE MEANING OF ”LOVE IN SPITE OF"

But before we totally assume Joyce was speaking on Rihanna, she conveniently added,

“MY STATEMENTS HAVE ALWAYS BEEN GENERAL AND WILL REMAIN THAT WAY."

Hmmm....we have heard there are some things NOT being said.  So we wouldn't be surprised if the whole truth hasn't benn told.  It likely never will be.  So should we all just move on?

And in the headlines......

Rape survivor and advocate for women's health, Gabrielle Union, appeared on MSNBC recently where she shared her feelings about Rep. Todd Akin's ignorant "legitimate rape" comments.  She said,  "Todd Akin…I was shocked. I would say saddened except that it pissed me off."

The Planned Parenthood advocate then went on to discuss her work with women's health care initiatives and to defend women's rights.  On Twitter, she posed a message to Todd saying, "Dear Todd Akin...ALL rape is "legitimate"...  Word.

Watch Gabby talk about where women's healthcare is heading in the clip above.

And in other music news,

Wiz Khalifa talked to Karen Civil recently about the backlash over his O.N.I.F.C. cover art  (September 18) saying it shocked him, but he's happy folks are talking about it.

"I think that's the beauty of it -- so many people try to plan all those types of situations and be like, 'This is what it is, that's what it is'," he continued. "I don't know what [the response] is gonna be. I do what I feel, and then people react to it. When [the cover] got its reaction, it was crazy to me 'cause I thought people was gonna love it. I thought they would be like, 'Yo, this is the craziest cover, this is the best sh** I've ever seen in my life'. When I sat down and thought about it, I was like, 'Well, whether they're talking about how bad it is or how good it is, they're talking about it,' and that becomes the thing for the day, week, month, however long it lasts. It's a good thing, and I believe in it, so that's what's most important."

He also added that the artwork is about '60s counter-culture and getting into that mind frame.

"[Jimi Hendrix] is definitely an influence, but it's not just [that]," he explained. "Jimi Hendrix is a great person, I love Jimi, but like that whole era of music, they all look like that. When you look back at that time and the Vietnam days... that's what people looked like at that time. Me having an afro and me wearing a bandanna around my head and people think now I look like Jimi Hendrix, it doesn't mean I'm trying to be Jimi. Yeah, I love Jimi, but that's not really exactly who I'm trying to be. I embody that mind frame [and] spirit of what was going on at that time, how people really felt about how important it was to stand up for what you believe in and to fight for what was yours, whether it be your culture or your family."

Will you be buying this?

Trey Songz's Celebrates Chapter 5 Album Release With His Mom, Fabolous & Emily B., Irv Gotti & Plenty More

Posted: 22 Aug 2012 07:18 AM PDT

It was a fun time last night at Bagatelle Restaurant in New York City.  Trey Songz hosted an intimate dinner for all his celebrity friends to help him celebrate his Chapter 5 album release.

We've got the pics inside of rapper Fabolous and his girl Emily B., Adrienne Bailon, Irv Gotti, Kevin Liles and more...

The vodka was flowing as celebs noshed on a yummy prefix menu at the GREY GOOSE Cherry Noir-hosted event.  Trey kicked it with his rapper homie Fab while everybody sipped on GREY GOOSE Cherry Noir cocktails--named for his album tracks, including the Simply Amazing, Dive In and 2 Reasons.

How sweet!  Trey's mom April Tucker was front and center as he gave her a toast for helping to make him successful.  She looks fab by the way.

The fellas Kevin Liles (Trey's manager), Michael Kyser (Atlantic Records exec, Trey's label) & Irv Gotti (rumored to be back in the saddle with Atlantic Records) all kicked it and grabbed some drinks.

Irv had his wife, Deb Lorenzo, on his side looking fab.  The twosome snapped a pic with Em, in a black & white extra fitted dress with her red Chanel clutch, & Fab.

Em's girls were there at a different table, but she sat with her man right next to Trey.  I know she's glad he's being "seen" with her now..

Mashonda looked amazing as usual an snapped pics with her girl Julissa.

Trey snapped pics with producer Rico Love & Fab.

Kevin's right-hand Roe Williams, as well as Kenny Burns, were in the mix in a cute black & green maxi dress.

And Kevin's wife Erika Liles, who recently had a baby, dipped in the pics too.

You already know DJ Clue was there.

And Hot 97's Angie Martinez posted a pic of herself and her besties Adrienne Bailon, Ravaughn, Julissa & Mashonda.

Fab times.

Michelle Obama Tells iVillage About Her Body Image, "50 Shades Of Grey" & 4AM Workouts!

Posted: 21 Aug 2012 06:22 PM PDT

First Lady Michelle Obama talked to iVillage recently where she served as guest editor and offered advice on having a positive body image, dished on what she thinks of 50 Shades of Grey, and the importance of having girlfriends. See the highlights inside..........

In an exclusive video interview With iVillage Chief Correspondent Kelly Wallace, Mrs. Obama revealed details about the first family's health habits, the importance of her girlfriends, offering support to Sasha and Malia and more.  iVillage is one of the number one spots online for women's important issues.

Here are the highlights:

On Quitting Smoking:

(Barack) stopped. And I have to say that I know that his ability to ultimately kick the habit was because of the girls, because they're at the age now where you can't hide. It's clear.  So when it comes to smoking, we're very clear -- it's not good for you; it's addicting. And Barack used himself as an example of how difficult it was…I think that he didn't want to look his girls in the eye and tell them that they shouldn't do something that he was still doing.  So they played an important role in him finally saying, I've got to get this done. It wasn't the presidency; it wasn't the pressure from me; it wasn't even his own health because he wasn't a big smoker.

Asked if she’s read “50 Shades of Grey:

You know, you can't live in this society without hearing about "Fifty Shades of Grey." Everybody has heard about that book, including me. Neither of us (the President or First Lady) have read it, because I haven't had time to read anything. But I have a lot of friends, staff, people who are reading it, so it's all around.

Asked why she thinks it’s so popular:

Not having read it, it's hard to know exactly what's going on. But it's obviously tacked into something, and giving people permission to explore parts of themselves that maybe felt a bit taboo. But I don't know, that's just a good guess.

What healthy habit has been easiest to form since coming to the White House?

Surprisingly, the best healthy habit is eating dinner together on a regular basis. And I think we underestimate the importance of families sitting down around the table at a set time. And it’s hard for many families.

It was hard for us until we got to the White House, but we talk about this all the time. Barack can at least control that part of his schedule. He can stop whatever he is doing, come home at 6:30 p.m. We kind of structure our lives around mealtime. And right now, the people who mess that schedule up these days are the kids, because they’re busy and they have things that they’re doing and afterschool activities, and sports and games and things like that.

And also just having a kitchen full of healthy snacks -- and I say this all the time -- I need it more than my kids need it, because if there’s a bag of chips in my cabinet, I’m going to eat them. I’m going to eat them, and I’m going to eat them until they’re gone, right?

On the First Family’s Healthy Habits and Vices:

Malia is juice…I suggested to her that she cut her juice in half, that first of all she drinks water first when she’s thirsty and not just juice. And then, when she has the juice, do like one-third seltzer water or water just to cut the sugar content….

Barack, his is chips and salsa and guacamole. And peanuts – nuts – almonds, pecans. And there’s a way that he eats them that we tease him about -- he kind of shakes them in one hand and creates, like, a little dispenser with his index finger where he can just pop them in his mouth. And I kind of imitate him when he does that. But he’s a nut guy. That’s what he’s munching on all the time. And if there are chips and salsa, he really can’t stop eating those.

For me, it’s French fries, which is good because you can’t just have French fries around, so that’s helpful. But if there are French fries in the vicinity, I’m done. It’s over.

For Sasha, she’s kind of a free for all.

On her incredibly important bond with her girlfriends:

We started developing this playgroup when the kids were in carriers, because it was more of a mommy play date then. And we found that many of us -- we were all working women. We had husbands who traveled -- sort of similar stories. Some were single-parent mothers. And we just found that being able to meet once a week, and kind of debrief and talk about the kids and talk about the challenges of motherhood and what we were worried about….

I rely on them implicitly to be able to talk frankly and complain without being judged, and to let off steam knowing that you really don't mean it. And you sort of get a pep talk from your team and you get pushed back into the game. It's like, you'll be okay and dust it off.

It has just been essential for me in this role, being in such a highly visible, highly scrutinized environment to have people that you've known for that long where you can just be yourself and be vulnerable. And that's one of the reasons why I encourage women to take care of our friendship, because while my husband is my best friend -- and I love and respect him dearly -- my female friends just provide a different kind of support. He is grateful to those women in my life as well. And he is somebody who understands my need to have my girls around me.

On support systems:

I think sometimes we, as women, feel like we're not doing it right unless we're doing it all ourselves. And I had to throw that out the window a long time ago. I had to sort of understand that getting help wasn't a sign of weakness. In fact, our generation, we're probably one of the first generations where we're growing up trying to do everything.

On quality family time:

A great weekend is spending time together and listening to the girls, and hearing their ideas and talking about them and thinking about the future.

Can women have it all?

My message to women is: Be open. Give yourself a break. Stop thinking that there is an answer to that question, "Can women have it all?" Stop trying to answer it. Just live your life and figure out what's in your heart and what do you need. And that will change every year, and you've got to be okay with that.

Parenting

There isn't a day, there's not a minute that goes by that I'm not hoping and praying that I'm doing what's right for these girls so that they grow up independent and confident and loved and just ready to embrace the challenges.

On Television:

And it's important to me that they learn lessons from everything. It's like, say, if they're going to watch a show, I'll probably sit down and watch it with them just to see what lessons they're learning from it. And if they're learning the right lessons, then I'm kind of okay with it. If they're starting to take in stuff that's not healthy, then that's when I'd be more inclined to intervene. But I haven't seen that yet. They're pretty level-headed kids….

On whether or not she feels pressure to keep her iconic toned arms in shape:

I just saw two weeks of Olympic athletes who have real arms, so I always wonder, well, what is it? My arms do not compete with people have “real” arms. But obviously, people know that exercise is important. For me, it’s a de-stresser, first and foremost.

On working out with her husband: (Mrs. Obama gets up at 4:3AM to work out; a friend of hers we spoke to confirmed she has been dedicated to this early morning workout routine for years)

Barack and I work out every day. So we spend time together in the morning. I usually get to the gym before he does. But he is usually there either in the middle of my workout or right at the end. And we’re watching Sports Center and we’re catching up. That’s why I know so much about sports…and you start having an opinion about Tebow and Mark Sanchez.

On working out on the road:

I bring a jump rope…I can usually do some jump roping in the hotel room. If I don’t have a rope or space, I might do a 30-minute routine that includes a minute of jumping jacks alternating with a minute of pushups, then some sit-ups. You take a 30 second break and do it again.

On Body Image:

I try to provide a good example for them. I want them -- part of the reason why I work out is that I want them to see a mother, a woman who is working out, who is embracing the physical side of herself…. That's why you see me jumping rope and hula-hooping with kids, because I think that they just need to see this is fun, it's a game. It's not that serious. You don't have to be a great athlete. You just have to be willing to get out there and do it.

“Sometimes I feel like I am Bipolar in relationships because I wear my heart on my sleeve. My past relationships had me thinking…one minute I want to be with a girl and the next minute I don’t want to bothered by her.”

Not sure if he was actually diagnosed or if he's using the term in a frivoulous way.  You never know with Scrappy.

The video for the single will be directed by Lisa Cunningham and Chinkie explains, “It came together like an epiphany. I felt like a lot of people are diagnosed by their spouses… and it made sense to write it out and put it to music.”

And on tv.............

It seems like Lil' Scrappy and Erika have broken up for good (until their recent engagement that is) so he moved on to Shay last night. He tells Shay he loves her but she really doesn't seem convinced since she says he hurt her by disappearing for a week and still talking to Erika.  Oh the tangled web....

And still.....the paperwork on Nicki hasn't been locked down and there's also talks of a fourth judge (likely from the country music sphere).

We'll keep you posted as new names seem to pop up every day...

MUSIC FAB: KeKe Palmer's New "Dance Alone" Single + Jaden Smith's "Shakespeare" + Melanie Fiona, Swizzy & Ne-Yo Team Up For Michael Jackson "Bad" Tribute

Posted: 21 Aug 2012 01:06 PM PDT

KeKe Palmer just dropped her second follow-up single from her self-titled mixtape, KEKE PALMER.  Check out "Dance Alone", plus the Michael Jackson tribute Swizz Beatz, Ne-Yo & Melanie Fiona are gearing up for, inside....

KeKe's follow up to her "You Got Me" single is "Dance Alone."  The upbeat track, produced by Harmony "HMoney" Samuels and co-written by Edwin "Lil Eddie" Serrano, is hitting radio waves soon.  Check it below:

Keke explains, "The song is saying I'm trying to get this guy, I don't want to dance alone, come dance with me. It has a bit of an influence of "The Way You Make Me Feel" by Michael Jackson. The song has a very masculine feel to it, so I thought it was important to capture that visually in my dance moves and in the way that I look, yet still finding a way to be feminine. It's me chasing this guy who isn't totally feeling me, so it's kind of like I'm trying to feel him out and show him how I am to get him to come dance with me."

Meanwhile, music video is set to premiere on August 27th.  Here's the trailer:

Little Jaden Smith also released new music today:

It's called Shakespeare and it's off his "cooltape" mixtape releasing this September:

A 14-year old rapping about jet setting and living the good life?  Gotta love it.

In other news, Ne-Yo, Melanie Fiona and Swizz Beatz are about to rock out for the last Pepsi's Summer Beats Concert Series concert. They will perform in New York Wednesday, August 29, during a tribute to Michael Jackson's Bad album, which will celebrate its 25th anniversary on August 31.

According to YAHOO, the concert, which is in partnership with Billboard, will be broadcast from Pepsi's Twitter page livestream.  And just like with Nicki Minaj's Pepsi summer series concert, fans will shape the playlist.

During the Bad celebration, Ne-Yo will sing Jackson's "I Just Can't Stop Loving You" as well as songs from his forthcoming album, R.E.D.  You feeling this?

Trey Songz CHATS Up With The Breakfast Club On Why He DOES NOT Do Reality TV, Beefs Or Crossing Over To Pop

Posted: 21 Aug 2012 11:28 AM PDT

Trey Songz stopped by The Breakfast Club on Power 105.1 where he discussed Ne-Yo/R. Kelly, reality tv and why you won't find him up in the club as much as he used to be.  Deets inside.....

Trey Songz stopped by Power 105.1 this morning to promote the release of Chapter V (in stores today) and the  "Hail Mary" video.  The hosts of the show joked about the video (which Kevin Hart co-directed) since "Love & Hip Hop ATL" stars Joseline Hernandez and Stevie J. made an appearance.

Although he revealed he will have some involvment with Kevin Hart's BET project "House Husbands" he said he avoids reality tv and doesn't believe in "entertaining for entertainment's sake."  Yes he's done his own docu-series, but he didn't seem too thrilled with artists exposing every part of their lives.

When asked why he doesn't do club dates and host events as much as he used to, he said his marketing campaign is a lot more strategic now. And about his love life, he didn't want to reveal anything so Angela Yee revealed all that she knew (from a previous interview he'd done), and he simply shook his head.

When asked about some comments Ne-Yo had made about Trey not living up to his potential, he talked about not giving too much energy to that situation.  He also expressed that he wants people to focus on talent, and not "beefs."

Trey talked about staying in the R&B lane saying he's not trying to crossover to the pop lane like many R&B & Rap artists are now. He said there's nothing he can't do, but there are some things he doesn't want to do.  He said he doesn't plan to abandon R&B.

SPOTTED: Lil Wayne Reunites With Ex-Jumpoff Karrine Steffans...In Vegas

Posted: 21 Aug 2012 10:42 AM PDT

This time last year, rumors were rampant that video vixen turned imaginative author Karrine Steffans & Lil Wayne were a "couple" and she was likely pregnant.  Even though she tweeted several things and made videos in the past pretty much saying these things, she always later denies it as if she never said it.  Which is why we don't really get down with the pathalogical liar that is Karrine Steffans.

But pics don't lie, and the two definitely met up again at the club in Vegas last night.  Pics inside...

She claims to have been married twice to two different men in the last few years, and goes back and forth on whether she divorced them or not.  So when Karrine Steffans was rumored to be pregnant by Weezy amongst all that, it seemed pretty odd.

Yet and still, she still claims they haven't had a sexual relationship since before her "first" husband.  But that didn't stop them from getting cozy last night at Wayne's Truckfit party at Las Vegas' 1OAK:

Karrine RT'd her friend today who said:

Loved the look on @KarrineandCo face when @LilTunechi came in at 1oak... #rideordie

We don't know if she's still married to her second husband or not, since she denied filing for divorce back in June after she blatantly tweeted she did.  Regardless, we wouldn't be surprised if these two got down...again...after the after party.
