| Amy Adams’ black bat-wing Roland Mouret dress: chic or terrible? Posted: 12 Dec 2010 08:31 AM PST There was a big screening of The Fighter over the weekend in NYC, and all of the leads came out to support the film. Mark Wahlberg (lead and producer) wore an extremely shiny suit, Christian Bale actually showed up (shocking) and everybody's favorite princess Amy Adams worked this black batwing Roland Mouret dress. I find it particularly hideous, honestly, but it does crack me up a little how Amy is trying to be all "high fashion, street" with this look. It's like she doesn't even realize that to so many people, she's just a redheaded Disney princessy sweetheart. People like my mother. Have I ever told you how much my mother LOVES Amy Adams? Like, my mother is loony for her, obsessed with her. I had to promise to take my mom to see The Fighter, and all she really knows about it is that Amy is in it. This is some sample dialogue from my mother: "She's the prettiest princess, ever!" Me: "Mom, the film isn't even about her - she's playing second fiddle to Mark and Christian." Mom: "I don't care. She's always going to be my pretty princess." Hand to God. Here's Mark and Christian… Can I just say something? I'm really, really shocked at how "up for it" Christian Bale seems - like he's making the effort to not be a surly, grumpy "artist" for the promotion of this film. Is it because of a potential Oscar campaign…? Well, The Fighter has a pretty good chance at some Oscars this year, and everyone involved is doing a pretty good job at selling this movie, I have to say. It helps that Mark Wahlberg is not only the lead, but a producer, and Hollywood movers and shakers seem to really like Mark - remember, he was the only actor in the cast of The Departed to get an Oscar nomination. And he's a solid producer too - did you know that in addition to his success with Entourage, he's also executive producing In Treatment and episodes of Boardwalk Empire, both highly acclaimed shows? So is Mark ordering Christian to just suck it up and campaign for an Oscar? I would love to know their dynamic, I really would. |
| Olivia Wilde in gold Emilio Pucci: disco ball tragedy or retro beautiful? Posted: 12 Dec 2010 07:38 AM PST Last night was the LA premiere of TRON: Legacy - they already had a big premiere in London last week, but only two of the leads, Olivia Wilde and Jeff Bridges, showed up. For the LA premiere, Garrett Hedlund finally showed up to support his film, the first promotional work he's done in support of it. And of course Jeff was there, and Olivia too - she wore Emilio Pucci. I don't really hate the dress, honestly. I would debate the fit, however - Olivia is a small, slender girl, and maybe only slender, relatively flat-chested girls can pull off this kind of "boob window" dress without looking like a trashy hooker. But the dress still seems very loose to me. I don't think it fits Olivia the way it's supposed to. Also: her hair is a train wreck. Like, completely awful, a total tragedy. Hideous. Here's Garrett Hedlund, looking handsome. He's a very attractive young man. He's 26 years old, in case you're wondering. Old enough to lust after. He's a Virgo too! Mm… Jeff Bridges with his wife. She looks like a crazy old broad here. Makes me like her even more. My shame-crush Ed Westwick was there too! Look at him, sucking in his cheeks. God, I love him. |
| Kate Middleton & Prince William’s Mario Testino engagement portraits released Posted: 12 Dec 2010 07:12 AM PST Us Weekly had the scoop last week, and now here are the photos! Mario Testino was called in to do Prince William and Kate Middleton's formal engagement portraits, and they are really rather lovely. I love that there are two, and that Kate had a costume change. One is a formal, somewhat stuffy portrait of the two in suits - William looking royal and Kate looking rather wonderful in a white Reiss suit/dress, and in the background there's some royal fixtures. The second one (above) is my favorite - William in a sweater and Kate in a Whistles blouse, and they're holding each other tightly. Kate looks so, so happy. Way to go, girl! This is what she's wanted for nine long years. Let her have her moment, y'all. Even though the biscuit factory is closed!
They look really, really cute together in these photos. You know what, though? Don't your eyes go to Kate? She's going to outshine William so much - let's just hope that William doesn't have his father's hang-ups about his wife getting so much attention. | Nicole Richie & Joel Madden were married in Beverly Hills on Saturday Posted: 12 Dec 2010 06:57 AM PST Well, Nicole Richie and Joel Madden were finally married after drawing it out forever. They got hitched yesterday, Saturday, in Beverly Hills. According to media outlets, the ceremony took place at Lionel Richie's home, with about 150 family friends and one elephant in attendance. Take that, Katy Perry! Katy got hitched with elephants in India, and Nicole was all "I'm the Queen Bee, I can have an elephant in Beverly Hills, bitch." Oooh, Samantha Ronson was there too! I bet she deejayed the party, what do you think?
[From Us Weekly] She's obsessed with winter? Does she know that winter doesn't officially begin for another week and a half, right? Seems that if you're truly obsessed with winter, you should aim for a Winter Solstice wedding - December 21st. Just a thought. And maybe I'm being picky, but isn't Nicole some big designer now? Why wear Marchesa, the most boring of the wedding gown designers when you could design your own hippie-dippy gown? That was bitchy, I know. But Nicole is kind of annoying me this week. You want to know why? She acted like Carrie Underwood when she negotiated the sale of her wedding photos:
[From Page Six] If the money is going to charity, that's nice. But I don't think it was just about the charity, you know? Especially if she was trying to negotiate a cover. At the end of the day, who is Nicole Richie, really? Why does her wedding deserve the cover? Anyway, congratulations to Nicole and Joel. I hope they are very happy together. |
