Amy Adams’ black bat-wing Roland Mouret dress: chic or terrible?

There was a big screening of The Fighter over the weekend in NYC, and all of the leads came out to support the film. Mark Wahlberg (lead and producer) wore an extremely shiny suit, Christian Bale actually showed up (shocking) and everybody's favorite princess Amy Adams worked this black batwing Roland Mouret dress. I find it particularly hideous, honestly, but it does crack me up a little how Amy is trying to be all "high fashion, street" with this look. It's like she doesn't even realize that to so many people, she's just a redheaded Disney princessy sweetheart. People like my mother. Have I ever told you how much my mother LOVES Amy Adams? Like, my mother is loony for her, obsessed with her. I had to promise to take my mom to see The Fighter, and all she really knows about it is that Amy is in it. This is some sample dialogue from my mother: "She's the prettiest princess, ever!" Me: "Mom, the film isn't even about her - she's playing second fiddle to Mark and Christian." Mom: "I don't care. She's always going to be my pretty princess." Hand to God.

Here's Mark and Christian…

Can I just say something? I'm really, really shocked at how "up for it" Christian Bale seems - like he's making the effort to not be a surly, grumpy "artist" for the promotion of this film. Is it because of a potential Oscar campaign…? Well, The Fighter has a pretty good chance at some Oscars this year, and everyone involved is doing a pretty good job at selling this movie, I have to say. It helps that Mark Wahlberg is not only the lead, but a producer, and Hollywood movers and shakers seem to really like Mark - remember, he was the only actor in the cast of The Departed to get an Oscar nomination. And he's a solid producer too - did you know that in addition to his success with Entourage, he's also executive producing In Treatment and episodes of Boardwalk Empire, both highly acclaimed shows? So is Mark ordering Christian to just suck it up and campaign for an Oscar? I would love to know their dynamic, I really would.

Olivia Wilde in gold Emilio Pucci: disco ball tragedy or retro beautiful?

Last night was the LA premiere of TRON: Legacy - they already had a big premiere in London last week, but only two of the leads, Olivia Wilde and Jeff Bridges, showed up. For the LA premiere, Garrett Hedlund finally showed up to support his film, the first promotional work he's done in support of it. And of course Jeff was there, and Olivia too - she wore Emilio Pucci. I don't really hate the dress, honestly. I would debate the fit, however - Olivia is a small, slender girl, and maybe only slender, relatively flat-chested girls can pull off this kind of "boob window" dress without looking like a trashy hooker. But the dress still seems very loose to me. I don't think it fits Olivia the way it's supposed to. Also: her hair is a train wreck. Like, completely awful, a total tragedy. Hideous.

Here's Garrett Hedlund, looking handsome. He's a very attractive young man. He's 26 years old, in case you're wondering. Old enough to lust after. He's a Virgo too! Mm…

Jeff Bridges with his wife. She looks like a crazy old broad here. Makes me like her even more.

My shame-crush Ed Westwick was there too! Look at him, sucking in his cheeks. God, I love him.

Kate Middleton & Prince William’s Mario Testino engagement portraits released

Us Weekly had the scoop last week, and now here are the photos! Mario Testino was called in to do Prince William and Kate Middleton's formal engagement portraits, and they are really rather lovely. I love that there are two, and that Kate had a costume change. One is a formal, somewhat stuffy portrait of the two in suits - William looking royal and Kate looking rather wonderful in a white Reiss suit/dress, and in the background there's some royal fixtures. The second one (above) is my favorite - William in a sweater and Kate in a Whistles blouse, and they're holding each other tightly. Kate looks so, so happy. Way to go, girl! This is what she's wanted for nine long years. Let her have her moment, y'all. Even though the biscuit factory is closed!

To go glamorous or relaxed in the world’s most-anticipated engagement photos? For Prince William and Kate Middleton, the answer was clear: both! The newly released photos – the official portrait photographs for the engagement of Prince William and Miss Catherine Middleton – were captured during a two-hour shoot by fashion photographer Mario Testino, who was hand-selected by the groom-to-be, 28, for the task.

“Prince William has worked with Mario Testino on many occasions before, and so the couple decided that he was the right choice for such an important portrait,” said a Clarence House spokeswoman.

Middleton, 28, did her own makeup for the photos (as she did for her televised post-engagement interview), a source tells PEOPLE, though Testino’s makeup artist was on hand for touch-ups.

And those famous tresses? The princess-to-be got her hair done by her usual stylist, James Pryce, from the Richard Ward salon.

For the formal photo – which was snapped in the historic Council Chamber linked to Clarence House, the official residence of William’s father Prince Charles – Prince William donned a Turnbull and Asser suit, while Kate chose a white Reiss dress and Links earrings. For the dressed-down denim look – taken in the Cornwall Room of St. James’s Palace – William changed into a Turnbull and Asser shirt and Brunello Cucinelli sweater, with Kate opting for a Whistles blouse.

“I am very happy to have been asked to cover this historic moment that the whole world was waiting for. They are in their prime and brimming with happiness,” says Testino, the same photographer who took iconic pictures of Princess Diana shortly before her 1997 death. “I have never felt so much joy as when I see them together.”

Those close to Middleton say the bride-to-be has taken a special interest in her appearance since she began dating the heir to the British throne eight years ago.

“Kate is always perfectly manicured, and she will have blow-dries before she goes out,” says Katie Nicholl, royal watcher and author of William and Harry: Behind the Palace Walls. She adds that Middleton and William likely got their teeth whitened in advance of their Nov. 16 engagement announcement.

The pair’s April 29, 2011 nuptials should be the biggest royal event since Prince Charles married Diana in 1981.

Prince William and his commoner girlfriend, both 28, made a secret pact to marry three years ago while on vacation in the Seychelles. “Kate wanted assurances from William,” Nicholl explains. “William told Kate she was The One, but he was not ready to get married. She…agreed to wait for him.”

Another insider tells Us: “He wants to spend the rest of his life with her.”

They look really, really cute together in these photos. You know what, though? Don't your eyes go to Kate? She's going to outshine William so much - let's just hope that William doesn't have his father's hang-ups about his wife getting so much attention.

Nicole Richie & Joel Madden were married in Beverly Hills on Saturday

Well, Nicole Richie and Joel Madden were finally married after drawing it out forever. They got hitched yesterday, Saturday, in Beverly Hills. According to media outlets, the ceremony took place at Lionel Richie's home, with about 150 family friends and one elephant in attendance. Take that, Katy Perry! Katy got hitched with elephants in India, and Nicole was all "I'm the Queen Bee, I can have an elephant in Beverly Hills, bitch." Oooh, Samantha Ronson was there too! I bet she deejayed the party, what do you think?

Nicole Richie and her boyfriend of four years, Joel Madden, said “I do” in a winter-themed ceremony Saturday in Beverly Hills, UsMagazine.com has confirmed.

Held at the home of Nicole’s father, Lionel, the black-tie evening event was attended by approximately 150 family members and friends, including Khloe Kardashian and Samantha Ronson. One other guest: an elephant! Around 5:40 p.m., observers spotted an elephant arriving in the driveway; the animal was led into a white tent with other revelers.

The bride’s BFF, Masha Gordon, served as maid of honor, while the couple’s 2-year-old daughter, Harlow, was the flower girl. (The couple also have son Sparrow, 15 months.)

Richie, 29, strived to get every detail right for her big day — putting extra special thought into her gown. Just days before the wedding, Richie remained torn over two designs: Marchesa and a vintage Chanel. In fact, she jetted off to New York City Dec. 3 for a final fitting at Marchesa with her stylist, Simone Harouche. “A lot of thought went into her dress — it was a priority for her,” a source explains.

Why the winter theme?

“Nicole is obsessed with the season,” a pal tells Us of the designer and author, who confirmed her engagement in February. (Her daughter’s middle names are Winter Kate, also the title of her clothing line).

“[The fete is] less about Joel and Nicole getting married and more about having a party,” another pal told Us of the soiree, planned by Mindy Weiss. “The spirit is that it’s a celebration and it’s very low-key.”

Though the couple — also parents to Sparrow, 15 months — has finally made their union official, Richie and Madden say they’ve long felt like husband and wife.

“We’re really focused on our family, and…we already feel kind of married, you know?” Madden, 31, told Larry King in 2009. “Our family system that we have down, we feel like this is a real family and marriage, one day it will come.”

Richie’s father, who walked his daughter down the aisle, is equally as taken by their love.

“My happiness for Nicole and Joel knows no boundaries,” the “All Night Long” crooner says. “They have given me two beautiful grandchildren, Harlow and Sparrow, and have proven to be great parents. I am not sure who is luckier, Nicole and Joel to have each other, or me, to have both of them in my life.”

[From Us Weekly]

She's obsessed with winter? Does she know that winter doesn't officially begin for another week and a half, right? Seems that if you're truly obsessed with winter, you should aim for a Winter Solstice wedding - December 21st. Just a thought. And maybe I'm being picky, but isn't Nicole some big designer now? Why wear Marchesa, the most boring of the wedding gown designers when you could design your own hippie-dippy gown? That was bitchy, I know. But Nicole is kind of annoying me this week. You want to know why? She acted like Carrie Underwood when she negotiated the sale of her wedding photos:

There was frantic negotiating to land Nicole Richie a $100,000 exclusive magazine deal ahead of her big wedding to Joel Madden today. Reps for Richie — who recently took a photographer to court to protect her and her children’s privacy — were as late as yesterday “playing the weekly magazines against each other to drive up the price,” an insider said.

Sources tell us that the reps for Richie, who said she planned to give the money to charity, had agreed to an OK! bid earlier in the week to make her a “cover chip” — a less important story referenced with a small photo on the front page — but then went to People to negotiate a full cover.

A source added, “Things got complicated because both Kim Kardashian and Christina Aguilera said they couldn’t attend the wedding because of other commitments.”

A rep for Richie, who’s expected to wear Marchesa to her wedding at father Lionel Richie’s Beverly Hills home, said: “Your information is incorrect”.

[From Page Six]

If the money is going to charity, that's nice. But I don't think it was just about the charity, you know? Especially if she was trying to negotiate a cover. At the end of the day, who is Nicole Richie, really? Why does her wedding deserve the cover?

Anyway, congratulations to Nicole and Joel. I hope they are very happy together.
