Mariah Carey Brings Holiday Cheer To Disney World

Mariah Carey is one of the stars who is participating in the annual Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade which will air on Xmas Day but her musical performances were taped at Disney World in Orlando, FL yesterday. Here are a few photos from Mimi‘s performance of her new holiday single Oh, Santa! at Disney World yesterday along with the press release announcement about the upcoming Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade:

Disney Parks has pulled out all the (silver) bells and whistles for the 2010 “Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade” TV special – including performances from five-time GRAMMY Award-winning artist Mariah Carey, country music chart-topper Darius Rucker, singer/actress Amber Riley, Disney Channel stars Selena Gomez and Debby Ryan, young soprano sensation Jackie Evancho, “American Idol” Lee DeWyze, swing band Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, professional dancers from ABC-TV’s “Dancing with the Stars” and R&B sensation Sean Kingston.

The 27th Annual “Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade” airs Christmas Day on ABC-TV. The show is scheduled to air at the following times:

• Eastern Time Zone: Noon – 2 p.m.
• Central Time Zone: 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
• Mountain Time Zone: 10 a.m. – noon.
• Pacific Time Zone: 5 p.m. – 7 p.m.
• Los Angeles: 9 a.m. – 11 a.m.

Chart-topping celebrities ring in the magical holiday spirit from start to finish, the 2010 “Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade” is packed with festive musical performances from Walt Disney World Resort in Florida and Disneyland Resort in California.

Global pop superstar Mariah Carey gives fans a tuneful taste of her brand-new holiday album, “Merry Christmas II You,” with a new song, “Oh Santa” and her perennial holiday smash, “All I Want For Christmas Is You”

Ryan Seacrest leads the fun as the show’s host at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, and Nick Cannon hosts from Disneyland Resort in California. Maria Menounos serves as a special co-host at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, and Samantha Brown checks in as the show’s travel correspondent.

Fans are invited to join the parade mobile text alert program to get fun information about the parade as well as submit holiday greetings, which may appear on the “Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade” broadcast! To sign up, send an SMS message with PARADE to 37275 (DPARK). Msg. & data rates may apply.

The parade magic continues on Radio Disney. Radio Disney will air a one-hour special on SATURDAY, DECEMBER 25 (9 a.m., ET/6 a.m., PT and 3 p.m., ET/Noon, PT) hosted by on-air personalities Ernie D and Jake Whetter. The “2010 Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade Special on Radio Disney” will feature behind-the-scenes interviews and sneak previews of performances by stars of the parade including Mariah Carey, Selena Gomez, Sean Kingston, and Debby Ryan.

Because Mariah continues her reign as the Queen of Xmas Music Pop with the release of her new holiday album Merry Christmas II You, Disney simply HAD to get her involvement in this year’s parade … and boy, did she get the royal treatment. Mimi was driven by horse and carriage to the site of her second performance at Disney World yesterday …

Brendan Benson Brings Detroit Flavor To LA

Last night my friend Josh and I made our way downtown to Club Nokia to see my Detroit homeboy Brendan Benson live in concert. Brendan is co-headling a tour right now with The Posies so I was excited to be able to see him in concert for the second time this year:


As you may recall, I saw Brendan play the Troubadour in West Hollywood back in February by myself but this time I wanted to share the bounty with a friend. After the jump, check out some of the photos that I snapped and watch a couple videos from Brendan‘s performance at Club Nokia last night …


I’ve been seeing Brendan Benson in concert for years, since way back when I lived in Detroit … he always puts on a great show. Josh was totally unfamiliar with his music and he loved the show as well. Here are a couple videos from the performance last night … I didn’t record these but some other industrious fan did and immediately put them up on You Tube:

We had a blast!! The show as so great, I purchased a live recording of the concert on a wooden USB flash drive immediately after the concert. I understand Brendan has been selling all of his live shows on this tour on USB … which I LOVE! I wish more bands would do the same. This evening, David and I will be meeting up with our new BFF Jen to see Black Swan! I’ve been hearing really great things about the film so I’m really excited to finally see it for myself. Conan O’Brien Really Knows How To Rock Jeggings

Earlier this week, on his TBS late night talk show Conan, Conan O’Brien chatted with Project Runway guru Tim Gunn about Fashion and the subject, apparently, turned to the topic of jeggings (jean leggings). It turns out that Conan was so taken with the conversation that he decided to wear a pair of jeggings to show the world how that particular article of clothing looks on a man of his stature. In case you missed it, here’s what Conan O’Brien looks like while wearing jeggings:

It’s not unusual to see a celebrity rocking the latest fashion trend, however absurd. But U.S. late-night talkshow host Conan O’Brien raised eyebrows with his decision to don a pair of jeggings. The legwear, stretchy leggings made to look like acid-wash jeans, are more normally seen on female stars … On 6ft 4in Conan’s long legs they simply looked bizarre. He donned the jeggings after being told by fashion guru Tim Gunn that they were the latest thing in male fashion. ‘Men don’t wear jeggings,’ Conan said initially. ‘What if I wore, for a whole show, what if I wore jeggings one night? Seriously?’ After some thought the idea seemed to gain appeal, with Conan telling his laughing audience that they were, in fact, ‘incredibly comfortable’. On his show, Conan told his audience: ‘I have a motto on this show. If I say I’m gonna do something, I do it.’ He then strutted around the stage. But the 47-year-old’s reaction wasn’t all positive. ‘I feel like I’m being molested,’ he added later.

I love Conan O’Brien so much. So, so much … jeggings and all. Is it wrong to admit that he looks, er, impressive in this form-fitting legwear? Jennifer Lopez & Steven Tyler Show Up In New ‘American Idol’ Promo Videos

Back in September Fox released the first official promo photo of the new judging panel for the upcoming season of American Idol — made up of Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson. A few days later, AI producer Nigel Lythgoe posted a photo on Twitter of the AI judges hard at work at auditions for the show. Today we get our first look at the first video promos that feature Jennifer, Steven and Randy doing what it is they are being paid millions to do … nod their heads along to auditions:


Altho I am NOT a fan of American Idol I deffo plan on watching at least the first couple eps of the new season … just to see if this new judging panel will make the show any better. IMHO, AI will never be the same without Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell but I’m certain J. Lo, Steve and Yo Dawg Jackson will do their best to try and get YOU to keep watching American Idol. Meh. Nothing too exciting … a lot of head-nodding tho. I’m not at all confident that these new judges will bring anything intriguing, interesting or important to American Idol. But, again, I will watch a couple of eps before I make a final determination. Christina Aguilera Makes Her Way To Tokyo, Japan

Christina Aguilera, who opened up to People magazine this week to confirm that she is officially dating Matthew Rutler while she divorces soon-to-be ex-husband Jordan Bratman, has made her way to Japan in order to do some promo work for her new film Burlesque. Here are photos of Xtina making her grand arrival at Narita International Airport earlier today:


Now I am all for dressing as casual as possible on flights, especially on really long ones … but what the heck is Xtina wearing in these photos? I mean her outfit looks a trifle messy, which is odd because she knows that she will be met by fans and photographers upon arrival at the Narita airport. But what really gets me is the FREAKIN’ FUGLY LIPSTICK! Ugh, I hate it so much … especially when she couples it with the caked on blush on her cheeks. I cannot understand how she thinks all that red paint on her face looks good.

But, I digress. Xtina is in Japan and she brought along a very special person — can you guess who? Find out, after the jump …


Thaaaaat’s right. Matthew Rutler, Xtina‘s new shadow. Since this is a work trip, it would appear that Xtina‘s little boy Max Liron stayed home in the care of his father Jordy Bratman. Will these two crazy kids get to play in Japan on this Burlesque promo trip? I guess we’ll soon find out. Hopefully Xtina will tone down the make-up … for all our sakes.

Jane Lynch Does ‘Entertainment Weekly’ Magazine

On Thursday we learned that Taylor Swift, who is apparently new BFFs with the entire Gyllenhaal family these days, was named by Entertainment Weekly as the 2010 Entertainer of the Year. But, EW has named 15 other (lesser?) Entertainers of the Year as well … including Jane Lynch and the cast of Glee as a collective whole:

Team Glee With nearly 13 million viewers weekly in its second season, chart-topping albums, a sold-out tour, and 19 Emmy nominations, even Glee’s co-creator Ryan Murphy has to admit that the show ”is huge. The thing that is crazy for me is the appetite for it internationally has become big as well.” So much so that the cast will stage its blockbuster tour next summer in London, Manchester, and Dublin.

In addition to Taylor and the Glee cast, there are a slew of other entertainers who have been honored by Entertainment Weekly as the best of the best for 2010. After the jump, find out which other entertainers are featured in this week’s new issue of EW mag …

Stieg Larsson This was the year that Larsson’s Millennium Trilogy evolved from a publishing phenomenon into a cultural one, when you couldn’t go 20 feet without seeing one of those brightly colored covers at a coffee shop or tucked into a friend’s bag.

Christopher Nolan People can’t stop talking about his mindbending thriller Inception — or asking him if that top ever stopped spinning. ”I’ve been asked that more than any other question about any other film I’ve made,” says Nolan, 40. ”What’s funny is that people actually expect me to answer it.”

James Franco This actor, artist, student, soap star, and writer is so hot he’s not only getting Oscar buzz for his performance in 127 Hours, he’s been picked to co-host the awards show with Anne Hathaway. The 32-year-old says his transformation into a Renaissance man began around five years ago. ”I was 27, 28, and that’s a time in a lot of people’s lives when they start assessing themselves,” he says.

Some of the other entertainers honored this year are Jayden and Willow Smith, Ben Affleck, Kanye West and the cast of The Social Network (I really wanted to post a photo of The Social Network cast but the photo EW used features Justin Timberlake in the forefront of the photo and IMHO he was the worst part of the absolutely excellent film). Altho in EW‘s eyes, Taylor Swift rules them all, they managed to collect a great list of entertainers for 2010. This magazine is a must own.
